Debugging Servlet with JBuilder 6

Does anyone know how to debug a servlet with JBuilder version 6?
I have created the servlet without the wizard.
Thanks.
-Amar

You can use ServletExecDebugger from NewAtlanta.
You can download ServletExecDebugger at
http://www.newatlanta.com/products/servletexec/download.jsp
1. Extract ServletExecDebugger files to your local folder
2. Import ServletExecDebugger.jar file into you JBuilder
workspace
3. There will be ServletExecDebuggerMain.java file
Import that also.
4. Set ClassPath, Project Path , etc and off you go.
ServletExecDebugger comes with good documentation
for a free debugger.
I have been using it for sometime now (in both JBuilder and Visual Age) and find it relatively simple to setup and good for debugging servlets.
You cannot debug JSPs that much easier though !
Hope this helps..

    This document tell you that you can attach a weblogic webservice configuration using weblogic admin console.

    Hi,
              I am trying to set up VCafe 4.0 to debug servlets deployed on WebLogic 5.1.

  • Deploying war files with JBuilder 5 to Tomcat 4

    Hi,
    I'm developing a webapp in JBuilder 5. When I copy my war file to tomcat 3.2 webapps directory and start tomcat it works just fine, but when I copy my war file to the webapps directory in tomcat 4 I have the following error when I start tomcat 4:
    ERROR reading java.io.ByteArrayInputStream@33f8f6
    At Line 15 /web-app/servlet/
    All the examples in Tomcat 4 works just fine, and if I create a war file from the command prompt it also works, but the war file generated with JBuilder 5 doesn't work.
    does this sound familiar?
    please help

    Hi Lilja,
    ran into this myself, and had to do a full web search to find the answer.
    JBuilder5 will let you change the Tomcat version a certain project uses, but it won't necessarily like it.
    Creating a new project with Tomcat 4 as the default server, and then putting your existing files into it seems to work.
    Dodgy, I know, but blame Borland. ;-)

    HttpConnector[8082] Starting background thread

    Solved it. I ran into this problem too, and had to look all over the place to find the solution.
    In the end it's a matter of binning your current JBuilder project and starting a new one with the same files. For some reason JBuilder5 hates switching Tomcat installations within projects. From there it seems to ignore changes to your web.xml, and insists on yu_hung's error.
    Switch it all into a new project with Tomcat 4 as its default server, and it becomes happy again.
    Hope that helps!

  • Debugging servlets

    I'm using JDev 3.0 and I'm trying to debug my servlet. I have 2 problems:
    1) Netscape is supposed to appear with the Servlet Launcher page, but doesn't. I have to run webapprunner.html by hand in order to launch my servlet.
    2) Yesterday I was able to set breakpoints and step through the code, but today I see the popup:
    Cannot debug project with Target JDK 'java version "JDK1.2.2_JDeveloper'" can only debug with Target JDK 'java version "JDK1.1.8_JDeveloper'"
    The project was created to use JDK1.2.2 so I've been able to debug with it before.

    Hi,
    The servlet launcher problem might be caused by a network router. We try to locate your IP address when we launch Web-to-Go.
    Make sure when you start JDeveloper that you start it in 1.2 mode. The target JDK and the JDK you start JDev in must match for the debugger to work properly.

  • Debuging  servlet on weblogic

    I am trying to learn to debug servlet on weblogic . In one of the site it is written as
    Locate startWSL.cmd and add the following variable DEBUG_OPTS:
    set DEBUG_OPTS = -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport= dt_socket,address=1044,server=y,suspend=n
    I am confused with this .Please tell me why is this necessary for debugging.
    Thank you

    Java uses the Java Platform Debugger Architecture to define how a Java debugger connects to a running Java application for the purpose of debugging that application. To enable an application for debugging, you have to add some parameters to the command line to specify a few things, like what transport will be used to transfer data, and if a socket-based transport, what port number should be used. Once you define those parameters on the command line and the application is running, you can specify the port number in the debug configuration of your debugger to make a connection to that running application.
    You can read more about the various debugging-related command line options on the following page, which is just part of the larger JPDA documentation:
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/jpda/conninv.html]
    If you peruse the documentation for your favorite debugger, you can find information about connecting to remote Java applications, and it should give you similar information.

    did.
    1) set the "working directory" of my project to be d:/bea/wlserver6.0
    2) made a new run configuration and called it weblogic
    3) set it as an application
    4) made the main class to be weblogic.Server (weblogic.jar has to be in a
    required library)
    5) set the VM parameters to:
    -classic -ms64m -mx64m -Dweblogic.system.home=d:/bea/wlserver6.0 -Dbea.home=

    d:/bea -Djava.security.policy=d:/bea/wlserver6.0/lib/weblogic.policy -Dweblo
    gic.Domain=mydomain -Dweblogic.Name=myserver
    Thats it. By running "weblogic", it starts within jbuilder. It also letsme
    debug that way (although it still takes an eternity)

  • Debug - servlet

    Colud someone help me to how debug a servlet with tomcat and netbeans 3.5.1 ?
    Thanks

    If you're running on the Tomkat server, dropping debug statements in won't work. It does if you're running from the S!S ide that's a different question.
    However, if you're running on the actual server, about the only thing you can do is to sprinkle Systm.out.println(String) commands through the code and watche the log to see what's going on.
    If however you are running from the ide and you launch the server in debug mode. (You'll have to check the ide docs for specifics because I don't have them here with me) then you can drop debug markers in the code and it will stop and let you step through the code.

  • How to upload a file into server using j2ee jsp and servlet with bean?

    How to upload a file into server using j2ee jsp and servlet with bean? Please give me the reference or url about how to do that. If related to struts is more suitable.
    Anyone help me please!

    u don't need j2ee and struts to do file uploading. An example is as such
    in JSP. u use the <input> file tag like
    <input type="file"....>You need a bean to capture the file contents like
    class FileUploadObj {
        private FormFile srcFile;
        private byte[] fileContent;
        // all the getter and setter methods
    }Then in the servlet, you process the file for uploading
        * The following loads the uploaded binary data into a byte Array.
        FileUploadObj form = new FileUploadObj();
        byte[] byteArr = null;
        if (form.signFile != null) {
            int filesize = form.srcFile.getFileSize();

    Hi all.
    I am newby in OSB. I am trying to send some values through a POST call to a servlet. I know how to call the servlet with Business Service of type "Messaging Service". I send the parameters of type Text.
    I have tried several ways, but I don`t find the proper way yo do it. I have tried to insert the param into the body and into the header.
    The problem is that I don`t know exactly where to put them, I don`t know if it must be done in the header or in the boy. I neither don`t know if there is a common way to do this.
    Please, could you give me a good example of an insert activity to isert a post parameter inside the call?
    For example: now I am using this one:
    Expression => "accountType=test"
    Location => as first child of"
    XPATH => empty.
    In variable => body.
    Where do I have to insert this, in the body or in the outbounds?
    I have followed this posts:

    Hi,
    Please be carefull about passing values such as Strings or number that contains ',' .
    using the way described above.
    the best way is to pass an ID and then use a select Statement to get the other Values in the target page.
