Hello,
Do you ever use Creator's debugging tool? If so, under what situations/problems do you find it useful?
What is your most-used technique for diagnosing web application problems and runtime errors?
How do you use the server's stack traces to diagnose errors?
One another trick to use is to use the HTTP monitor. You can activate the HTTP montor from the Server Node -> Application server and then the property from the properties sheet.
This will let you monitor the actual HTTP traffic when the application is executed in the test container.

Thanks!You need to start the server in debug mode (rightclick at server, choose Debug instead of Start) and add breakpoints to the code. You can add breakpoints to the code by doubleclicking on the gray bar area at the left side from the code line. You'll get a blue dot there. When the JVM is about to process this line, then it will stop there until you take actions in the debug perspective (step into, step over, step return, next breakpoint).

Problem debugging web application in tomcat for jwsdp

I have the following problem:
I have a web application with jsp's and servlets and using IDEA Intellij and tomcat for jwsdp when i run the debugger i get the next message:
Check your run/debug configuration. Failed to establish connection to the target VM at
'127.0.0.1:3505' using socket transport
That problem don't occour me with other version of tomcat but i need the version for jswdp because i use other web application with web services.
Somebody know how my problem can be solved?I struggled with this for awhile until I found the following entry in an IntelliJ forum:
You have to use zipped Tomcat distribution, it contains the necessary batch startup scripts.
Also take a look at this guide: ftp://intellij.net/pub/.idea/TomcatTutorial/TomcatJspDebug.zip
Using the zipped version of Tomcat solved my problem. -
How can I debug a web application running on Weblogic 10.3
Hello,
I have inherited a NetUI Web Application developed using Weblogic Workshop and I can't manage to debug it. I have configure my server in Workshop and to debug it I right-click the project in Project Exporer and select Debug As -> Debug On Server, but this isn't working. The browser does open the application doesn't appear to be getting delpoyed.
Can anyone help me out? I am using Weblogic 10.3 and Java 1.6.

The application is an enterprise application packaged as an EAR. if I right click on the project and click Debug As -> Debug on Server, the application appears in the Server Tab, but it does not start automatically. If I then manually start the server the application runs, but it does not stop at break points and I can not debug it.
If I right-click on the web project that is packaged as part of the ear and select Debug As -> Debug On Server again the application is deployed, but I can't debug it. I don't get error messages, the application functions as normal but it does not stop at break points. When I attempt to debug the application via the Web Project, two browsers open automatically, both correctly displaying the application.

Bobj is undefined error while debugging a web application
Hello, I am developing an asp.net web application in which I display a report, and testing it by using a sample (dummy) report that's saved on the computer's hard drive. In design mode, the report displays properly, when when I try to debug the site on my machine (the server in this case, but it should work on any computer, since debugging is done on localhost), the site crashes and returns a Microsoft JScript error 'bobj is undefined'. I have already tried moving the CrystalReportsViewer folder to be a sub-directory of the application (physical and virtual), as well as adding a script tag to refer to the location of the .js files in that directory, but nothing seems to fix the error.
I recently tried installing the fix-packs and service packs for crystal reports, but the problem persists.
I"m running Windows 7, VS 2008, Crystal Reports 2008, and IIS 7. Thank you in advance.Hi;
Compiling as 32 bit is only available for a Windows based application, not a Web one. You need to configure IIS to run either 32 or 64 bit.

I am trying to debug a ASP.Net web application within visual studio 2010 using Firefox. I am able to set breakpoints in my C# code and they work but if I set a breakpoint in a javascript file then these do not work when using Firefox. Is there any way to do this?
Of course you can. I use the VS2010 built-in Javascript debug tool a lot, not only for IE, but also for firefox.
I encountered the "break point not working" issue several times, according to my experience, following is the solution to this problem, give them a shot:
1. There maybe errors in your javascript code, have a close look at your code, try to find the errors or eliminate this possibility.
2. Sometimes you have to refresh the page once after the page is loaded the first time. This solves the problem most of the time. -
Weird thing happened when debuging a web application under MyEclipse 5.5
Hello:
I am using MyEclipse 5.5 and weblogic 8.1 to work on a complex web application. I generated the ear file using ANT script and deployed it through weblogic console, the weblogic server is started from within MyEclipse.
I can debug this application inside MyEclipse, step by step. And this happened:

}When I step through the above code, even though count is 1 (or 2,3), the "if" block is still entered, and the line: "creditList.add(inv); " is still executed. Why is that? Am I crazy or is the IDE?

Swaysounds like your code in eclipse and the code which is being executed is out of sync. rebuild, and see if you still have a problem

Visual Studio Error while trying to debug a web application
I am developing a MVC web application. I had an issue where VS 2013 sp3 ultimate was not launching anymore so I uninstalled and re-installed VS 2013 sp4 ultimate. I am able to launch my web application using Start Without Debugging.
However, when I try to debug my application I get a Microsoft Visual Studio pop-up error message that says:
'Uncaught exception thrown by method called through Reflection. It's not even reaching my application I am unable to even debug where this message is coming from.
Does anyone have any ideas?

If you debug this app in other VS machine, how about the result?
In addition, whether all MVC projects have the same issue? For example, just create a simple default MVC project, debug it, how about the result?
If all projects have the same issue, I doubt that it is your VS installion issue.
Maybe you could repair your VS, and then create a new project, debug it again.
If just one specfic app has this issue, I doubt that we would think about the project, you could add breakpoints, and then debug your app, and maybe you could get more useful information. Of couse, if just the specifc MVC app has this
issue, I suggest you post this issue to the ASP.net forum.

Error while web application deployment in NetBeans5.5
Error while web application deployment in NetBeans5.5. I am always getting Tomcat deployment error. using Netbeans 5.5.1 with bundeld tomcat. But in some machines its working fine.

Are there any stacktraces or other relevant messages in the ide log file? (The ide log file is [userdir]/var/log/messages.log. On userdir: http://blogs.sun.com/karthikr/entry/jse_directories)
You can also check the server log file to see if there are more detailed messages.
You can also try setting ant's verbose level to debug or verbose (Tools | Options | Miscellaneous | Ant | Verbosity Level) and check the output. -
How to debug web app with weblogic?
I wrote a web app that includes jsp files and some javabeans, then I put the jsp files to directory
mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp
then I complied javabeans and put those classes to
mydomain\applications\DefaultWebApp\WEB-INF\classes
Then I start the weblogic,it runs very well.
I modified some javabean, complie them and put classes override the old classes,
but the web app can not find the new classes.
Any one know How to debug web app(with javabeans) in weblogic?

I use wls6.1; I think the process may be very similar to this in wls8.x. In wls6.1 (sp5), this is done via the -
Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False or
Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=True
in the startup cmd/sh script. Out of the box, wls6.1 is set to Dweblogic.ProductionModeEnabled=False which automatically enables hot deploys. -

Unable to debug any application after upgrading to Reef Shark and Update 6

Since I upgraded to Reef Shark and consequently also installed the update 6 I can't access the deployment server.
None of the applications show up in the broswer, nor does the admin-console for the server.

From JDK 1.4 the com.sun.security.auth.PolicyFile class has been deprecated and replaced by sun.security.provider.PolicyFile. Could this be the reason?

How do I get info from Active Directory and use it in my web-applications?
I borrowed a nice piece of code for JNDI hits against Active Directory from this website: http://www.sbfsbo.com/mike/JndiTutorial/
I have altered it and am trying to use it to retrieve info from our Active Directory Server.
I altered it to point to my domain, and I want to retrieve a person's full name(CN), e-mail address and their work location.
I've looked at lots of examples, I've tried lots of things, but I'm really missing something. I'm new to Java, new to JNDI, new to LDAP, new to AD and new to Tomcat. Any help would be so appreciated.

R.VaughnBy this time you probably have already solved this, but I think the problem is that the Search Base is relative to the attachment point specified with the PROVIDER_URL. Since you already specified "DC=mycomp,DC=isd" in that location, you merely want to set the search base to "". The error message is trying to tell you that it could only find half of the "DC=mycomp, DC=isd, DC=mycomp, DC=isd" that you specified for the search base.

You have to add a <servlet> element to this file.

Problem with Configuring Tomcat for running jsp web applications..Plz HELP
I am using Tomcat 5.5 and Jdk 1.5.0_12 and Oracle 10g. I am using jdbc-odbc bridge connection
to connect to the database. I have placed my project folder called
tdm under the webapps folder in Tomcat. This 'tdm' folder consists of
a collection of html pages,jsp pages and images of my project. Also I created a
WEB-INF folderand in that I have lib folder which contains catalina-root.jar
, classes12.jar and nls_charset.jar files. And also in the WEB-INF folder I have the web.xml
file which looks like this

I have set the context path to /tdm in the server.xml file. Should this be placed in context.xml?
My first page in the project is called Homepage.html. To start my project I give http://localhost:5050/tdm/homepage.html
in a browser. Here I accept a username and password from the user and then do the validation in
a valid.jsp file, where I connect to the database and check and use jsp:forward to go to next pages
accordingly. However when I enter the username and password and click Go in the homepage, nothing is
displayed on the next page. The URL in the browser says valid.jsp but a blank screen appears.
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN SO? DOES IT MEAN THAT TOMCAT IS NOT RECOGNIZING JAVA IN MY SYSTEM OR IS IT A PROBLEM
WITH THE DATABASE CONNECTION OR SOMETHING ELSE? I FEEL THAT TOMCAT IS NOT EXECUTING JSP COMMANDS?
IS IT POSSIBLE?WHY WILL THIS HAPPEN?

I have set the context path to /tdm in the server.xml file. Should this be placed in context.xml?
My first page in the project is called Homepage.html. To start my project I give http://localhost:5050/tdm/homepage.html
in a browser. Here I accept a username and password from the user and then do the validation in
a valid.jsp file, where I connect to the database and check and use jsp:forward to go to next pages
accordingly. However when I enter the username and password and click Go in the homepage, nothing is
displayed on the next page. The URL in the browser says valid.jsp but a blank screen appears.
WHY DOES IT HAPPEN SO? DOES IT MEAN THAT TOMCAT IS NOT RECOGNIZING JAVA IN MY SYSTEM OR IS IT A PROBLEM
WITH THE DATABASE CONNECTION OR SOMETHING ELSE? I FEEL THAT TOMCAT IS NOT EXECUTING JSP COMMANDS?
IS IT POSSIBLE?WHY WILL THIS HAPPEN?
I set the JAVA_HOME and CATALINA_HOME environment to the jdk and tomcat folders resp.
Is there any other thing that I need to set in classpath? Should I have my project as a
WAR file in the webapps of TOMCAT or just a folder i.e. directory structure will fine?
