Decided to Purchase a Mac???
i've decided to purchase a mac computer..
my only issue is that, being that i've become such a huge fan of apple after the iphone presented itself to me, im deciding to change my suc*y Toshiba Satelite with Windows for a "MAC".(sigh)..
wanted to see if anyone could give me some pointers on which mac i should choose???
Basically what im looking for:
Computer ( no Laptop )
30" apple display
Any suggestions?

Good advice except for one thing. I've never bought AppleCare for anything but my mobile products as they take more of a beating and, should the need arise, extremely difficult to work on myself.
I've had Macs since 1987. Other than those listed on my profile, I had three other earlier models. Those three are still working in the primary grades of a local elementary school. I've never had a hardware failure and never had a software failure that caused the loss of a single bit of data. Maybe I've been spoiled, lucky, or both, but I've never needed service or to even contact customer support. Macs are so intuitive, that I've always been able to sort any issue out on my own. That's why, in spite of the fact that I've had Macs since 1987, I never registered for these Support Discussions till this past September.

Robert KlaassenWMA files are 'window media audio' files, which is a Microsoft format. If you want to add them to your iTunes library on your Mac then you will need to convert them into a compatible format first. If you still have your windows machine then iTunes for Windows can convert them from WMA to MP3 format : https://discussions.apple.com/message/24158701#24158701
Or try a search for, for example, 'convert wma to mp3' to find programs to convert them. -
my photoshop elements and Lightroom serial numbers won't work for my new mac. I bought these softwares via download on my windows laptop but returned that laptop because the quality was not great. I decided to buy a mac and now can't use my serial numbers to download the software.

Stephylei you will want to download the Mac versions of the installation files. If you purchased the software from Adobe, and choose the download option at the time of purchase, then the download will be available under your account. You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com. -
I just purchased a mac, I've made an apple id. But now when i try to update my mac. I need to login to itunes stroe.Whenever i try that i can login, then i need to confirm my details. And suddenly the mail adress is no longer valid.

Problem with Resuming and Installing Apps Purchased using Mac App Store
Recently I have been trying to download and install AeroFly FS which I purchased from Mac App Store (17GB) and with my internet connection it take some 4-5 days to download that.
I have 2 problems.
1) Resume download don't work if I happen to reboot my macbook pro for some reason after pausing the download before the reboot. When I reboot and try resuming the download... the resume button changes to install, and the download start afresh, I technically lost all my previous downloaded data.
2) The app was 17GB ( I guess thats the installer), and I had some 25GB left after the download completed. But it gave an error saying while installing that not much disk space. So I moved/deleted many item on my drive and got the disk space to some 37GB Free. But it was still giving the same error of not much disk space.
So, I thought the new avaialable diskspace was not accounted for. So, I rebooted the macbook. And to my agony, I found the roboot wiped out the 17GB installer I managed to download from Mac App Store.
So, far i have wasted almost more than a week trying to download and install this app. Now, I am re-downloading it for the third time.
Any Help will be highly appreciated.
Any Tips on how I can move the installer once it sdownloaded to my external HDD, and where can i find this installer which App store downloads?

37GB of free space is not enough.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 20% free disk space.

I have a desktop pc with itunes. I just purchased a Mac Air book. Can I sync my devices, iphone, ipod, ipad, to both computers. Or do I have to pick one? I would like to have itunes on my mac, but i am afraid I will run out of hard disk space. Do I need to set up a seperate account on my Mac so I can load some music on it if I plan to keep my devices synced to my PC? Would it be possible to sync only my Iphone to my Mac?
To get that much storage, you need to look to professional online services. Pro-level hosting accounts may offer you that much (well, many will offer as much storage as you are prepared to pay for), or Amazon professional cloud services. You could also store the files on a home machine and pay for a professional hosting service so you could stream them over your own account (assuming your ISP connection and agreement allows for the bandwidth used). You would still need to deal with the issue of finding an app for the iPad that supported avi streaming.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premier 10 loaded on a Dell PC. Do I need to uninstall from the Dell before I install on a recently purchased Apple Mac Pro? There are separate disks for Mac and PC in the package.
Generally, it's ok to install on two machines as long as they are both yours and you only use one version at a time.

when we purchased our mac two years ago, we set up the iCloud account. this past winter I created a new iCloud account thinking I was changing it. I now cannot access anything on the old iCloud acct and my computer hasn't been backed up either in awhile. How do i go back to that old account and delete it so that I can continue backing up on the newest account? I changed it because the original one I created an iCloud account with is a yahoo account email address and I am deleting my yahoo account for being compromised too may times.
Well, you can go to Manage your Apple ID and change the password if you can answer the Security Questions:

If you cannot remember the Security Questions you can contact iTunes Support to reset them for you:

Once you get your password reset and you can access your account info on Manage your Apple ID, you can change your ID. You won't be able to use the same email address that you are using for the new ID unless you change that one to something else. But, if you can get back into your old ID and change it to a new email address, then you can go on using that old ID, and just manually move the iCloud stuff you added to your new ID back onto the old one. Most of the stuff (like Contacts, Calendar, Notes) can be added by logging onto https://www.icloud.com on your Mac and doing it that way (it is a lot simpler when you have an actual keyboard in my opinion)

I just purchased a mac air and cannot figure out how to get my pictures from my toshiba windows to the air into iphoto and I also cannot get my library of music and apps to get to the mac air as well. Each time I try to synch it tells me it will repace my ipad and iphone with the blank library from the new air. How do I get my music, apps and photos to the air. I just subscribed to imatch and it charged me and only has 600 of my 2,000 songs!
You must move your photos and music from your Toshiba to your MBA directly, not using the iPhone. The Migration Assistant app on your Mac will help.

JUST PURCHASED A MAC TODAY. LION OS. NEED HELP INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE FONTS ON THE DESKTOP. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A LARGE SCREEN, THE TYPE SIZE IS VERY SMALL. GOING TO WORD AND CHANGING THAT TYPE SIZE IS ALL I HAVE FOUND IN HELP TOPIC.

I would like to upload my music library from my PC to the Cloud through iTunes Match. I also will be purchasing a Mac in the near future and would like to download some of that music from iCloud to my Mac. Will I have compatability problems?

I purchased a mac book air today. When in store I was able to see all of my music in itunes. Now I am at home I cant see any of my music although i tunes is authorized on the computer. How do I fix this ?

Since purchasing my Mac Pro with retina display, I can no longer change the preferences on MP Navigator for Canon MX870. I can change them on my old Mac Pro with Lion, but not the new one. I can scan but I can't save it to a folder on my hard drive. I can only let it default to a back up date folder. Tried all sorts of things to change the preferences and folders, nothing worked. Ideas?
StephanieTo prevent your iPhone from automatically syncing when you plug it in, click on iTunes in the menu bar, then preferences, then "devices", then tick "prevent iPhones, iPad's and iPod's from syncing automatically".
Plug it in, then on the iPhone sync summary screen, click "info" along the top.
Make sure the "sync contacts" option is not ticked. as long as it's not ticked, then it won't sync with your mac's contacts but will still include them in backups.
Also, if you use iCloud, make sure that the iPhone/mac are either not signed into the same account, or that "contacts" is not turned on for both of them -
My iMac keeps crashing after AHT checked out. Running 10.7.4. Purchased this mac new about 2.5 years ago. Mail crashed and I can't get it to re-import mail. Safari crashes often. Entire computer crashes at least 2 times a day. I ran permessions in utiltiies. Do not know where to go next?
