Decision in Automator??

Hi,
I wonder if there is a possibility to include decision blocks in a workflow without using AppleScript.
Has anybody seen this yet?
Greetings from Switzerland, Ronald

I'm thinking you are starting to FEEL our frustration!!!!
They (Apple) are saying the same thing.....
WHY ARE YOU NOT ASKING ADOBE about this problem???? We have changed nothing....ya da, ya da, ya da.....
Mean While..........Adobe keeps changing stuff....and it stops working....Apple keeps changing stuff...and it stops working....WE KEEP PAYING for it.....
ARE YOU STARTING TO FEEL MY PAIN?????
So...you are just not going to help....I get it.

  • Is clone Siebel server environment possible without using nsbrowse utility?

Hi, can someone give me a quick firm answer about my question "Is clone Siebel server environment possible without using nsbrowse utility?" We try to automate the Siebel server enviornment using cloning and reconfig on Linux while nsbrowse is a utility only runs on Windows. Is there some command line commands that can be used as a replacement of nsbrowse editor utility? This is very important for us to made the decision on automation strategy. Thank you very much!

"...hosted in a datacenter for high availability for when internal environment fails and the mail system is still up and running. "
Yes, Office 365 (Exchange Online) would work perfectly with DirSync.
If the requirement is for mail to work even when the internal environment is down, then do not implement AD FS because in that scenario, authentication is dependent on access to the domain controllers in the internal environment.
As for simply hosting one's own server in Azure, I just read an article that recommends against it:
    - Exchange uses alot of resources. You would need a rather expensive configuration.
    - You would still be responsbile for the updates.
    - Your VPN connection would have to be very reliable. Exchange is constantly querying the domain controllers / global catalogs. EDIT - I see you wrote "without a VPN" - well, that's not possible. Exchange will never work directly across the Internet
    like that.
I can't find the link to the article but there are others that also advise against that option:
    http://paulrobichaux.wordpress.com/2014/05/15/exchange-server-and-azure-not-now-vs-never/
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

  • How to get the Admin Task to Process Members from Member Sheet?

    Hey guys!
I've been successful getting the Custom SSIS Admin Task to process a Dimension using a SQL staging table.  However, we have a few dimensions that are best managed in the Excel Member sheets.  When we have changes to these member sheets, is it possible to process the dimension using the SSIS Admin Task.  If so, how do I go about doing this?  What settings do I need to use within the task?
I've tried using the "Scheduled Members Process" option (I honestly don't even know what this option does and I've found no documentation), but when this option is selected the task simply fails without any messages.  And I've tried putting the path directly to the Member Spreadsheet in the "SQL Source Table" box.  Using this method, the package returns a successful status code, but it's not really processing anyway.  It finishes in less than 2 seconds.
    Thanks much!
    Sean

I don't understand why you want to do this -- if you're maintaining some dimensions manually in the XLS member sheet, then you should process the changes manually too, using the Admin Console. No DTS is required, and you also get the benefits of validation & error messages right away.
Having said that, if you feel it's necessary, you could set up a DTS package which uses the XLS member sheet, via an Excel connection manager, as a data source which is loaded into your custom dimension staging table. Then this staging table is the source of the admin dimension processing task.
Beware, though, that this means every time you add or modify dimension properties, you will need to update the columns in both the Excel connection manager and the staging table. I've always found this to be a very frustratingly manual process in BI Dev Studio, to get the data fields to properly refresh. I usually end up deleting the source & destination data flow objects, just to get the new fields to show up. (Maybe there's a better way, but I haven't found it.)
I always consider the dimension-processing decision on automation to be all or nothing for each dimension. If you're maintaining the dimension manually in the member sheet, use the admin console to process it.

  • Campaign automation - How to create correct flow?

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to understand how campaign automation is working. So fare autostudy works fine.
I did some tests in client 100 with the follwing structure: Campaign (without channel) and two campaign elementes: 1) email with survey X (channel is email with activity), 2) generation of Lead (channel is the lead).
In the campaign modelling screen, I connected campaign with the first campaign element.
    1. campaign elemente has a target group, the workflow assigne is "send target group to channel".
I created a decision note for survey, with one rule that is: for everybody that answers survey X conect with 2. campaign element.
    2. campaign has marked flag "Start for every respondent", workflow is "Transfer responder to channel".
This works fine in client 100.
But in cliente 200, I get the error "No channel has been entered for the campaign/campaign element".
When I enter target group and channel to campaign in client 200 I am able to start the campaign.
Now I am confused: What is the correct prosses? Use campaign elements with channel data and leave these fiels in blank in campaign?
Or is the neccessary to enter target group and channel data to campaign?? This seems weired to me.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Cristina

    Hello Cristina,
As far I know, each campaign element is campaign itself.
So each campaign or campaign element can have TG and channel assigned to it depending on the business scenario.
With respect to campaign automation , the cannel assigned to the campaign corresponds to the channel on which you would be running this automation.
    Hope this helps!

  • Flat File automation process - limitations

    Hello Everyone,
I would really appreciate any insight on the process improvement suggestions.
    Background:
Currently we have around 12 territories providing a new flat file with new data on a daily basis depending on the business activity. Which would also mean that, on a given day if there is no activity would mean no flat file provided to BI for loading process.
The flat files provided need to be loaded into the BI system (PSA - DSO - InfoCube).
The flat file loading process has been automated for the daily file by implementing the logical file name for each territory.
    1. The process variant in the process chain is to ensure if the flat file is available on the App server (Custom ABAP program).
    2. 12 InfoPackages have been created to pick the data from the flat file on the app server and load the data over into the PSA.
    3. All the InfoPackages merge into an "AND" event in the process chain before the DTP load into the DSO kicks off.
    4. DSO Activation
    5. Recon between the flat file and the DSO to ensure all the data from flat file has been loaded into the DSO.
    6. DTP loads into the InfoCube.
    7. Recon between the InfoCube and the DSO itself.
    8. Moving the flat file from one folder into another.
All the above processes are automatically performed without any issues if the flat file is available on the server.
    Problem / Issue:
As one of the major limitations of the above design is the flat file for sure needs to be made available on the app server in order for the whole data flow in the process chain to continue without any breakpoints.
Current workaround / process improvement in place:
Based on the above limitation and upon further research, I was able to apply the OSS Note to give us the option of maintaining multiple DTPs for the same data target with different filter values.
So, even if have individual data stream for each territory with a different DTP the issue still remains where the process variant (ABAP program to check if file exists) or the InfoPackage load if the ABAP program is removed will fail.
Which means due to the above fact, the support team is alerted about the process chain failure.
    Question / Suggestions required:
The main questions or any suggestions would be welcome, if one of you can let us know an approach where the flat file check program doesn't have to give a hard failure in the process chain for the rest of the process chain to continue with the loading process. (As in order for the rest of the process chain to continue the only options we have are Error, Success, Always).
I have also looked into the Decision process variant available in the process chain, but based on the options available within I cannot utilize it for the loading process.
Error can be caused by generating an error message in the ABAP program which in turn is causing the issue of alert being sent over even if the rest of the process chain finishes.
Success would mean the flat file needs to be available. Always cannot be used in this case as it will cause a failure at the InfoPackage level.
If the InfoPackage load can be avoided without a hard error to be generated, the process chain does not have to remain in the failed state which in turn will not trigger any alert to the support team.
Please do let me know if you need more details about the above process improvement question.
    Thanks
    Dharma.

The main issue with this as you mentioned is that the file has to be available for sure.
We had a similar issue - we had a very critical data load that had to happen everyday , failure of the file getting loaded would mean that the reports for the day would be delayed.
We were running on UNIX and we implemented a simple UNIX command that would not complete till the file was available in the app server.
    Something like
while ( the file does not exist )
    delay of 15 seconds
you will come out of the while only after the while completes which means that the file becomes available.
You can write a similar ABAp program to check file availability if required and put it into your program.
we also had a failover process where we created a zero byte file with the same name if the file did not come beyond a certain number of tries and the PSA would load zero records and the data load will continue.

  • User-Decision COMPLETED buti next step not executed

    Hi Gurus,
I have a very strange problem when approving user-decision tasks in my workflow using FM SAP_WAPI_DECISION_COMPLETE.
SOMETIMES, the user-decision step becomes COMPLETED but the result in the workflow logs (SWI1) is blank and does not continue to the next steps of my workflow. I've done my research and checked everything (commit = X, SWU3, Task is General, etc..) but i still have not found any solution yet.
FYI: this does not happen all the time, most of the time the workflow works fine.
Based on SWWWIHEAD, the user ADSUSER(from WebDynpro)  is the creator and the last one who updated the workflow instance.

  • Automated layout w/sections and subsections

I suspect this is possible, but I'm apparently not looking in the right places.
I'd like to do an automated layout from a data file, with sections and subsections. The normal "data source" mail merge-type functionality doesn't offer any obvious ways to deal with sections, headings, etc. -- it just spits out one record after another.
More specifically, I want to automate the generation of a wine list (which is updated often, so manual work is a continuing annoyance). It needs to have major sections with headlines (e.g. "sparkling wines," "red wine," "dry white wines," etc.) and within those sections subsections with subheads (e.g. "Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauternes, etc.).  The source data is coming from Cellartracker (in a CSV or TSV file). I'm ok with doing some pre-processing on the file outside of InDesign to generate the section data. But I can't figure out how to actually automate the generation of the list. The best thing I've been able to come up with is manually doing a separate run for each section, but that's labor intensive and I know I can do better. Ideally I'd like to be able to just feed it a data file, and have a perfectly formatted file come out the other end.
I'm happy to read docs, I just need a pointer to the right place. My searching thus far hasn't been very fruitful. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

Sounds like you've already gotten this worked out...
Since InDesign's data merge feature can't make formatting decisions based on the data content (well, not major decisions anyway) I still use Microsoft Word 2004 for that. I have a big project I work on a couple of times a year. I created a template with each of the forms that data could take -- some were headings, some single-cell tables, some paragraphs -- and exported that template as Tagged Text. Bringing those building blocks into a Mail Merge document in Word, I have MS Word decide which piece of tagged text to use, and populate it with the appropriate text from the database. That generates a new Tagged Text file. I paste in the "boilerplate copy" from the top of the tagged text file and bring it back into Indesign.
There must be an easier way, but I can't get the client to do anything with Tagged Text in their database program, so this way evolved. It actually works, though it's pretty messy to look at.

  • CS5 12.1 not showing up in Automator Lion

I just converted to a MacBook Pro and am using Lion.  I'm beginning to think converting right now with the launch of a new OS was the wrong decision.
In Automator, Photoshop does not show up in the Libraries Application List.
Is anyone else having this issue?
I have installed PSCS5 and the Photoshop Automator Pro 5.0 actions.  The actions show up in the Libraries pane in Automator but there is no PS in the apps to support it.
CS5 is running fine on its own.  I am running the demo version of PS until my hard copy comes in on Tuesday (did a platform swap).
I am praying someone has a solution.
    TIA
    Lisa

  • Survey response in campaign automation

    Hi Experts,
I have set up a campaign automation scenario in CRM 7.0 but am not able to trigger next campaign element based on survey response. The campaign automation scenario is as below.
    Campaign u2013 Campaign Element 1 -> Decision Node -> Campaign Element 2
u2022     Campaign element1 has a target group assigned. Workflow "Send target group to Channel" is selected. The Channel is set up to create Business activity.
u2022     Set up a standard u201CQuestionaireu201D rule in the decision node to send all those BP to u2018campaign element2u2019 who have responded u201CYesu201D to the survey.
u2022     In the u2018campaign element 2u2019 selected workflow u201Ctransfer Responder to Channelu201D and selected sales order in the communication medium.
When I u201CStart processu201D from campaign, it creates Business activity for u2018campaign element 1u2019. The survey is also created in business activity. But, when I update survey response within the activity, it does not trigger next campaign element.
I have even tried maintaining an empty target group in u2018campaign element 2u2019 and selected workflow as u201CAdd BP to target groupu201D. Even in this scenario, BP are not updated in the empty target group after responding to survey.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Umesh,
When you send printed letter, the automation scenario is broken there.
Complete automation will work only if you are sending the campaign with E-mail and survey(trackable). Only these values can trigger the follow up steps (workflows).
If dont opt for the above mehod, you will have to creae campaigns for each step. You cannot have campaign automation. You can optimize the steps by choosing ELM to create mass Lead and TG at one shot. Later you can use this TG for next campaign.
Automation is not possible without trackkable URL.

  • BAPI to post stock movement in QM's Usage Decision

I'm looking for a bapi or standard program to register stock movements in QM as a result of a usage decision.
We've tried using BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE with no success as it returns error QA 495 "Change the inspection stock of material in QM only"
    Thanks
    André

    Hello!
You do not need to create TO manually. Set up RLAUTA11 report as a job.
To run RLAUTA11 you have to maitain:
    creation indicator:
Logistic Execution->Warehouse Managment->Activities->Transfers->Set Up Autom. TO Creation for TRs / Posting Change Notices->Automatic TO creation/control data: for warehouse level: any character
Logistic Execution->Warehouse Managment->Activities->Transfers->Set Up Autom. TO Creation for TRs / Posting Change Notices->Movements assign: set up your indicator in field "Automatic TO" Background processing (MvT type and warehouse, probably your e.g. MvT is 321 - realese from Quality Inspection stock)
Next You must create variant for job with your warehouse and creation indicator.
    Best Regards,
    Marcin

    Policy Automation: The New Paradigm
Please join Oracle, Exeter Group, and our Customer the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles
State and Local government is challenged to implement and automate complex, rapidly changing policies as well as to provide consistent advice to citizens across multiple service delivery channels. In response to this challenge, government agencies are embracing a new approach, which takes complex statutes, regulations and policy documentation and very rapidly converts them to decision automation systems.
This session will include a discussion of the challenges faced by government agencies in implementing complex and rapidly changing policies and how the Oracle solution can help. We will also have a special government guest speaker from the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles who will discuss their implementation of this solution. This will be followed by a demonstration.
    Best,

You should probably contact RightNow to see if they have the ability to authenticate remotely (something like an LDAP interface). I know thatRightNow sites have a Web Service with the ability to send user name/password to that webservice. Although its not designed primarily as an authentication tool, it might suit your purpose.

Oracle Policy Automation 10.2.0 is now available via Oracle E-Delivery (http://edelivery.oracle.com/)
This release includes updated media packs for Oracle Policy Modeling and the Oracle Policy Automation runtime for both Java and Microsoft .NET Framework. The updated media pack for Oracle Policy Automation Connector for Siebel 10.2.0 will be available at a later date.
    This release includes:
    * Translation Support - Excel spreadsheets that contain all the translatable parts of a rulebase, that are updated with the new strings to be translated when you modify attributes, rules or screens.
    * Entity Containment - New hierarchical data model that simplifies data collection, debugging, and rule authoring when using relationships.
    * Pluggable Determinations Server - New extensibility model for Determinations server that allows you to do pre- or post-processing of incoming data, or do as needed retrieval of data from an external data source, for example.
    * Interview Web Service - Create fully customized stateful interview experiences in your GUI technology of choice
    * Interview Screen Preview - Preview interview screens without having to go through the entire interview
    * Flexible Interviews - Entity-level goals on the summary screen, more control over labels used for entity collection, and more
    * "Not Currently Known" operator allows a rule to work out if a question has been asked.
    * Additional string functions - as requested by users
    * Entity Equality - ability to write rules that compare one entity instance with all the other instances in a collection
    * Revised look and feel for Word/Excel 2007 (also applies to Word/Excel 2010)
    * New Parsers and Improved Right-to-Left support: Arabic, Hebrew, Turkish, German, Finnish, Chinese (Traditional)
    * Native Subversion Support: Check files in and out directly from an Apache Subversion repository without a MSSCCAPI connector, and see differences using Word's track changes feature
    * Custom Function Enhancements: Support for temporal values and improved natural language syntax.
    * Support for self-referential rules, e.g. the person's tax payable = the person's tax payable for the current tax year + for (the prior tax year, the person's tax payable)
    * Greater Platform Support: Windows 7 x64, Microsoft Office 2010, .NET Framework 4.0, Oracle VM, Microsoft Visual Studio Team Server 2010
    * Enhanced Upgrade wizard: The entity containment and interview screen changes require all existing rulebase projects to be upgraded to the new data model structure.
Please read the release notes, installation guide and security guide included in each media pack for more details.
The release build number is 10.2.0.110.0

    1. In the current version, OPM doesn't directly deploy to anything other than local TomCat. You'll need to manually refresh your WebLogic environment with the latest rulebase.
    2. I'm not aware of an ADF sample. I assume your goal is to host Web Determinations interviews in an ADF UI?
    3. You should use OPA instead of OBR if you need any of the following:
    a) Rules in natural language in any of the supported OPA languages (English, Chinese, French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc....)
    b) Rules in Word/Excel document format that can be easily shared with business users
    c) Interactive interviews for guided decision making, where questions can be automatically generated from rules, and screens are shown only as needed to make progress towards an answer
    d) Detailed decision reports of which rules and data were used to reach a decision
    e) Productized integration with Siebel or SAP
    f) Rich test case development and regression testing capabilities
More generally OPA is very good at determinations. I.e. reaching the one right decision given a set of input data. It is not a good fit for optimization problems where the goal is to seek the best outcome given a series of constraints. It is also good at taking a large set of law/policy documents are managing them as interconnected rules. It is possible to efficiently manage thousands of pages of material as an OPM project.
For ADF development, anywhere you have a process that involves a complex decision step, or a calculation that depends on complicated rules that may change frequently or need good business visibility, OPA is a good choice.

  • Difference between use of decision table and if/then in business rules

    Hello ,
Could some one please explain me difference between use of decision table and if/then in business rules in short.
    - Shirish

    Hi,
They are equivalent, pretty much what you can do with a decision table you can also do with if/then...
However, decision tables provide automated features that can reduce the number of required rules, as compared to the if/then rules (this is called rule coalescing).
Have a look on this document... Search for 5.1.1 What is a Decision Table?
