Deck Control for non-FW decks...

Been looking around for a day or 2 can no-el-findo. In the days of FCP v3.x people would use something called a "stealth port". Essentially an 8pin serial port that would replace the modem in your G4. Paired with an 8pin to RS422 cable you were off to the races in terms of deck control.
With the CPU's out today where no modem is shipped, what device/method are
people using to control RS422 ready video decks? I need a reliable way to INSERT edit onto tape with LTC timecode, not just print to tape/video.
(Would it really be a keyspan adapter?-I'm skeptical as I've beta tested FCP v2.x
and back then keyspan wasn't recommended)
Thanx in advance...

Well, here's the latest incarnation of the list, but it isn't going to tell you what you want to know:
http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/devicelist.php
The capability of a VCR to do an insert edit has nothing to do with FCP, really. The deck has to have strong enough capstans and other internals, plus the firmware needs to be capable of an Insert edit. Then, and only then, do we need to see if Final Cut has a machine template that will allow it to communicate with that deck in a manner that allows the Insert.
But you began by asking about NON firewire decks, which means you have a capture card or box. Which one?
And which Sony VCR are you talking about?

  • Risk Management & Process controls for non SAP client

    Hi Forum Gurus,
I need clarity on the following:  Can Risk managment 3.0 and Process controls be implemented for a non-SAP client?
i.e. Our client does not run SAP, but they are interested in RM and PC, so is this possible to implement?
Any advice would be highly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    PREVO.

    Hi Prevo,
Process control and Risk management 3.0 are delivered within same installation package files so it is same for both the applications .
Also real time agents for Oracle or peoplesoft are avaialble if you want to leverage the automated control functionality of PC 3.0 in non SAP environment.
Remember the automated control functionality is the optional feature of PC3.0.If you wish only to use the manual controls features of PC 3.0 you dont need RTAs(real time agent).
You can find further information about manual controls at http://service.sap.com
use the quicklink '/rkt' then the following menu path: SAP Business Objects for GRC Solutions -> SAP BO Process Control 3.0 -> Technology Consultant

  • Grid control interface for non-DBA users...

I was wondering if there is a way to provide non-DBAs an account to log into OEM (OMS Grid Control) for 11g.
We have some SQL Server DBAs and developers/report writers who are quite curious about OEM, especially after I gave them all a presentation on it.
I tried creating an account in one of our repository databases but OEM did not recognize the account (invalid username/password).
Does anyone know if this is possible or how this can be done?
I have OMS 10.2.0.5 set up with a repository database and a crash-and-burn database that our folks can mess with.
    Thanks.

An OEM account is separate from the database account. You need to use OEM UI to create an OEM account, however, for certain tasks to be done in the databases which OEM is monitoring they will also require separate database accounts within those databases. For example, to view the performance tab in OEM UI, a database account is required.
OEM only has two types of users, i.e. Super Administrator and Administrator, but don't go by the names. You can grant an OEM 'Administrator' account access to specific targets and what they can do within OEM, such as only viewing reports, targets, and so on. For access within a database, the user created need not be a DBA either.
    I hope you understand.

  • Inline Posture deployment for non Cisco Wireless Controler

    Hi all of you
I have to deploy an Inline Posture to manage non Cisco Wireless Controler ( ZoneDirecteur 1000 Ruckus), It seem easy but I don't know from where to start. All documentation I rode it's about Inline Posture for VPN. I want just to use this Inline Posture to manage Wireless user through ZoneDirector wirelss controler. Thank you.

    Kouassi

So what is the solution for this scenario?
remote site has non-cisco autonomous wireless AP. NAC is centralized. I can not use OOB since there is no support for non-cisco AP in OOB mode. As a result I use InBand mode. This means that local wireless trffic in remote site must travel to central site, go through NAC Server and go back to remote site. Is this correct?

  • NWDI for Version Control of Non-Java-Objects

    Hello,
we are using NWDI to manage Java-Source (full Scenario with Tracks..).
How can I use NWDI to manage Non-Java-Objects (Texts, PHP,..)  and what DC-Type do I have to use in NWDS, so that there is no build or the build works without error when checking in and "activating" the objects?
    Regards,
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,
there is no dedicated DC type for "non-Java stuff", but you can use an ordinary Java DC for that. The DC build generally cares only for declared Source and Package Folders (check the DC metadata). All other directories of a DC are ignored. The build will run for such a component, but will recognise that there is nothing to do. Activation will just integrate your files from inactive to active workspace.

  • "SSO" for non-sap web application using SAPGUI to browse?

I have a web application (non SAP) and the user base are also SAP users in an ABAP system.
To strengthen the authentication in the web app, I wanted to implement SSO
authentication as we pity the users for having to remember so many strong pw's and I
dont like LDAP based pw sync or other technology I dont understand, because then we are
just yet another application with the same pw...
We are having technical problems implementing SSO on the web app side, and are anyway a
bit sceptical about the user admin / role admin assignment if we get it to work.
So I have created a transaction in SAP which browses the web app and the intention is to
send the SAP sy-uname as the web app user. We can control this using s_tcode, and
an own auth object on the WAS side and a check on the session type before the connection is
established. In this sense we are dependent on the SAP concept implemented, but even so:
The role assignment is controlled in the web app itself -> so assume that I am not overly
worried about unauthorized access to the web application, as they would not have any
system role for it as their sy-uname does not exist. (Infact we can monitor this)
The browser on the front end is the SAPGUI with html controls on the SAP side.
I would be interested in knowing whether anyone else has experience with this approach, and
whether there are any areas to be carefull of?
I would also like to know whether this is a strategic error?
    Kind regards,
    Julius

    Hi Julius,
well, if that web application would run on the same ABAP backend system then the solution described in <a href="http://service.sap.com/~iron/fm/011000358700000431401997E/0612670">SAP Note 612670</a> would be applicable:
a so-called "Re-entrance ticket" (based on the "SAP logon ticket" SSO proceedings) is issued, transported via the SAPGUI connection and back to the system via the invoked HTML control.
But for non-SAP web applications that does not help.
In that case only X.509 client certificates can be used for SSO. Actually, the web application could then also be invoked directly (independent from the SAPGUI session). The user is authenticated based on the X.509 client certificate - and not based on the ABAP userID (of the SAPGUI session).
Well, if you don't mind the effort you could also use the "SAP Logon Ticket evaluation library" (sapssoext, see <a href="http://service.sap.com/~iron/fm/011000358700000431401997E/0304450">SAP Note 304450</a>) to evalute the SAP logon ticket externally. You'll then need to have a "stub application" at the ABAP side that triggers the http redirect to your external web application. Not a nice solution but a possible one.
In the future SAML browser artifacts would be an option (preferable to integrate non-SAP applications). But currently that's not available (for NWAS ABAP).
    Cheers, Wolfgang

We are unable to create excise invoice for non stock materials. When we try to create excise invoice with refernce to the billing document, the following error appears (message no 81681: reference document of 2917 is not delivery document). This process was working properly before updating patches, but after the updation, we are not able to generate excise invoice for non stock materials. • Excise duty not loaded onto inventory for non excisable plant

    Hello
I am facing a problem in excise duty flow. I have two plants, one excisable and second non excisable. one vendor is supplying the material to both the plants, so vendor is sending the invoice having BED, ECess & SECess for both the plants.
For excisable plant all the duty values are flowing correctly, but for non excisable plant BED is getting loaded onto inventory.
For non excisable plant, I have maintained conditions records al plant level for JMIP (BED Inv %), JMX2 (A/P BED Inv), ZECN (IN:ECess Inv %), JEC2 (ECess Inv Total), JSEI (IN: A/P SECess Inv), JHX2 (IN: SECess Inv Total).
During MIRO, BED is not getting loaded onto inventory, while ECess & SECess is getting loaded to material.
Pl suggest, where to check the settings or any settings for condition types, tax procedure etc.
    Thanks & regards'
    Manoj Gupta

    Hi,
The system behaviour of posting to stock account is controlled by account key NVV. Go to OBQ3, in your tax procedure TAXINN (or copy of that procedure) check for the condition types which account keys are assigned.
System will never discriminate that BED is not getting inventorised but ECess and Hcess on BED get inventorised.

  • "the activex control for flash player could not be registered" - Solutions Roundup

I recently ran into this problem on my computer:
    http://at32.s3.amazonaws.com/flash_install_problems2.jpg
I am a Flash developer (as in I write SWFs, I don't work for Adobe).  and when I updated IE to 10.2, "the activex control for flash player could not be registered".  Since I am a developer, I also have Firefox and Chrome installed, with Flash running without problems.  For a long time now, Internet Explorer has used a different version (ActiveX) to the other browsers, which use plugins.  I am a strong supporter of Flash, it's great to develop with and has a very wide feature set which is growing all the time, unlike fixed technologies/standards.  However, the weakest part is the install process - I don't understand why their is a Download Manager.  Google Chrome does it's best (so far) by managing the install/update process entirely in the background.  Anyway, it was in my best interest to try and get to the bottom of this.
For the record, on the problem machine I have Windows 7 with IE8, but I have seen almost  identical symptoms with IE9, Windows XP SP3, as well as various  iterations of Flash Player (10.0, 10.1, 10.2 and even some final  editions of version 9).
First I tried the standard support here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
Basically, doing the manual uninstall and manual install of the latest version (without using the download manager, or have IE open).  This did not work.  I also tried the Microsoft "subinacl" program, together with "reset_fp10.bat".  This didn't work either.  However, you should try all of these things first before progressing further.
A quick note about people who had tried running the following at a command prompt: "secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose"
I didn't do this, because on investigating further it didn't seem to work with Windows 7, only Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 - though there was a few threads where this had fixed the problem for some users.
For my solution, it is recommended you use the manual uninstall / installers, so you should have them downloaded ready to use.
I then heard about problems with permissions in the registry with the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\shockwaveflash.shockwave
So I opened regedit.exe (start - run - typed "regedit.exe"), navigated to the key and sure enough, I couldn't open it - permission denied - even though I had an administrator account.  If for some reason, you can access this key (and any subkeys), then it's likely the following fix will not resolve the problem.
I then done further diagnosis, by using Process Monitor to try and install Flash Player, and I got the following:
    http://at32.s3.amazonaws.com/flash_install_problems.gif
This shows all the access denied errors the Flash Player install was experiencing when trying to write to the registry key.  This confirmed that this was the problem.  I only stress this because several people said it was unwise to tinker with the registry.  Though this is common advice, this is the only known fix for this precise problem at present, since you need to manually adjust the permissions yourself.  I don't know who is at fault here - Microsoft or Adobe - but let's just get Flash fixed...
    The solution:
Firstly, you may want to backup your registry, or the exact key.  I didn't do this so I've provided no instructions on how to, but it is recommended for the paranoid.  Also make sure as much software is closed down as possible - browsers, IM software, any junk in your system tray. As way of example, I happened to have "BBC iPlayer" installed and running in the background which uses Adobe AIR and Flash Player, so I exited that too.
    1) Open regedit (start - run - type "regedit.exe").  You may need to right click on it and select "Run As Administrator", but I didn't as my account was already administrator.
    2) Navigate to the key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\shockwaveflash.shockwave
Click on it to confirm that you cannot access it (you will get an error) - if their are no problems - this probably isn't the cause of your issues.
    3) Right click on it and click Permissions, and ignore any message that may pop up.
    4) Under "Group or Usernames" click "Add".  Type your account name name, or "Administrators" in the box, then "Check Names" to format it correctly, then Ok.
    5) Now on the next screen click the checkbox to enable Full Control (this will also automatically enable "Read" permission too).
    6) Click Advanced, then the "Owner" tab at the top.  You will see that their is no "Current Owner".  This is what we will now fix.
    7) Click on your name to change the owner to (I went for Administrators).  Also enable the checkbox entitled "Replace Owner on subcontainers and objects".  Then click Ok.  You will get an error message, which you can try clicking Retry to, but hit Cancel - this is not a problem.
    8) Click Ok a couple of times and this part of your registry is now fixed.
    9) Now it's a simple case of running the manual Flash uninstall program, then finally the manual Flash installer (for Active X - not the Firefox/Chrome plugin versions).  To my surprise, after a couple of days looking into this - I finally had a solution and Flash in IE once more.  If you are using Firefox too you may find Flash is no longer installed their (the uninstaller removed it).  In this case just install via the Adobe site or try to watch a video on You Tube and you will be prompted or linked to the install.
Hope this provides a good round up of the possible solutions to this problem.  Hopefully Microsoft or Adobe can find out what causes this issue in the first place so we don't have to go down this route for much longer.  Chrome's implementation of Flash shows how effortlessly things can work!

They will stay on the screen.  However, Process Monitor is only intended for advanced users.  It is recommended that users try to navigate to the troublesome registry key using regedit, and see if they can access it or not without an error.  This is far easier than trying to use Process Monitor, which is very complicated.
I used Process Monitor to confirm that it was just that key which was causing the problem, and not others.  Process Monitor is not to be confused with the new Resource Monitor which is accessible via Task Manager in Windows 7 (and possibly Vista).  If you must experiment (and Process Monitor is very useful for diagnosing many deep-level problems if you know what you're looking for) Process Monitor can be downloaded from here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645
It replaces the older Sysinternals "FileMon" and "RegMon".  For those interested in the technical side, I had to setup a number of filters to be able to get the results display as in the screenshot.  First of all to just show Registry events.  Then to just show events from the manual Flash activeX installer executable.  The I added a filter to show only non-successfull results.  And finally, for the purposes of the screenshot, added a filter to just show those with "Access Denied", since other non-critical errors are also picked up due to missing keys because installation has not yet been fully completed I guess.   When experimenting, most of these filters were applied using the "is not" boolean logic, which will make sense if you experiment with the program.
Without adding any filters, it picks up so many events (hundreds per second) that it's otherwise unusable.  e.g. 40,000 events within the first few seconds of opening the program. For this reason, I recommend simply using Regedit to diagnose the problem with the particular Flash registry key.

  • How do I set up different hardware controls for different patches in mainstage?

I'm using Mainstage 3.0.4 and a Novation Impulse.
I created a concert, with the drawbar organ as my first and most important patch. I assigned the hardware controls on the Novation exactly how I wanted them, with the sliders controlling the drawbars, and the rotary controls changing the distortion, reverb, etc. It was perfect. I was happy.
Then I added a new instrument (a new patch, not a new channel or anything like that), a Wurlitzer. Once again I assigned my hardware controllers as I wanted them, and was happy with that.
When I saved the concert, and went back to my organ patch, my settings didn't stay the same, but they still work for the Wurli.
My question is this - do I have to have a new concert for each instrument patch I want to use, if I need to assign different controllers for each patch? This would be stupid! If not, what I am doing wrong, that I can only set up one set of hardware controls per concert, instead of per patch?
Thank you in advance for the help!!!

    Hi
    matthewabennett wrote:
CCTM, thank you! I have a small idea what you mean, but I still can't implement it :-)
    You have some fundamental choices:
    A) If you want to see Drawbar Controls for organ Patches, and then have other types ( knobs/sliders etc) for other Patches, you could simply make all the screen controls you need, then assign and map them as required.
    B) you could simply use drawbar screen controls only and remap them to other parameters for non-organ patches
    C) You could use Smart Controls ( which will update their appearance in a 'smart' way
    D) You could make your own Drawbar type controls using standard faders
The basic process in a 2 part thing:
Assign incoming MIDI messages from your controller to Screen Controls in Layout mode. This is global for concert. Per patch ( or Set or globally for the Concert) you then map the Screen Controls to parameters for each patch as needed.
Smart Control MIDI assignment is done in the Assignments and Mappings pane

  • UltraNav version for non-IBM clone PC to run IBM Travel PS/2 Keyboard, 89P8500, SK-8840?

My beloved IBM T42, circa 2005, has been retired from work duties and soldiers on in limited duty at home. I have recently attempted to re-create the well-designed keyboard, particularly the Synaptics touchpad and the TrackPoint, for my office PC, which is a clone (but with 'name-brand' internals, an Intel motherboard and processor, Kingston RAM, OCZ SSD) running 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, SP1.
So, for the princely sum of $35 I purchased a new keyboard, an IBM Part No. 89P8500 and IBM Model No. SK-8840. It's labeled IBM, not Lenovo. The keyboard's cord ends in two PS/2 plugs, one for the keyboard and one for the mouse, the latter I believe refers to the integrated Synaptics touchpad, and the integrated Trackpoint. My office PC has no PS/2 inputs, so I purchased a Ziotek PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse to USB Adapter (ZT1040444) to make the connection between the keyboard and the PC.
The keyboard does achieve basic functionality by simply plugging it into the PC through the Ziotek adapter. But the Synaptics touchpad and the TrackPoint are capable of considerably more functionality. I know this because on my T42 the touchpad and TrackPoint were controlled by UltraNav software, which created a tab in the Mouse Properties in Control Panel. There, many adjustments and customizations were possible.
But having spent more hours than I will admit to (yes, it's in double digits), I am still unable to achieve UltraNav levels of functionality. Worse, and even though the keyboard functions, if I open Control Panel, Mouse Properties an error message appears saying:
"Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver.
If you have installed another PS/2 Pointing Device Driver please uninstall the Synaptics driver by clicking on the Yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again.
Do you want to uninstall the Synaptics driver now?"
I select "No" and the Mouse Properties dialogue box opens, sans any indication of UltraNav or any functionality beyond the basic functions provided in Windows.
It finally dawned on me that the UltraNav software is IBM's proprietary version of Synaptics' generic touchpad / trackpoint driver. And it just doesn't want to and/or isn't going to work on my clone PC. I have literally tried dozens of USB and PS/2 drivers from Lenovo's website. The generic Synaptics driver from Synaptics' website imparts none of the UltraNav functionality, as best as I can tell.
My guess is that IBM probably didn't plan on selling enough of the now-priced-at-$35 keyboard (89P8500 / SK-8840) to merit going to the trouble and expense of preparing an UltraNav driver for non-IBM computers to run the thing. But, is there a version of UltraNav that will run on non-IBM/Lenovo PCs? I haven't found it.
The keyboard uses PS/2 and the Ziotek adapter, at least in theory, maps the PS/2 interface over to work with the USB interface. But is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit treating the Ziotek adapter-connected keyboard as a PS/2 device (which it is), or does the Ziotek adapter cause windows to treat the keyboard as a USB device? Thus, is the adapter's mapping over process so complete that the PS/2 device is now treated as a USB device? I have inquired with Ziotek and I am awaiting a response, which may never come.
I posted here in desperation. Please help, if you are able.
    Thank you,
    Dennis

IBM sourced their keyboards from another company for a long time, and that company not only still exists, but still sells the keyboard you're using (though for much more). Company is Unicomp. Website is pckeyboard.com. They probably support the keyvboard.
That said, the generic synaptics reference driver should work for the trackpad. Can't say the same for the trackpoint.
