Decline in picture quality using external webcam

When video conferencing in iChat using, say, an Ipevo Point 2 View external webcam there's a very noticeable decline in picture quality, even on the local screen, as compared to using the same camera with the supplied Ipevo software, where the image is crystal clear. Of course that software has to be disabled in order for iChat to recognize the webcam. It matters when trying to review detailed prints over the internet. What am I up against here? Would it help if a better quality camera was installed? Interestingly the built-in iMac camera actually performs slightly better under the same circumstances.

Images have to be hosted somewhere on-line and then you use HTML

The width thing just resizes it.

  • How to get best picture quality using iDVD to burn a movie from iMovie?

I would appreciate any guidance on options to choose and approaches such that I get the best picture quality when I view an iMovie product on a wide screen HD TV using a DVD burned with iDVD. Choose wide screen or standard format in iMovie? Best Performance or Prof. Quality in iDVD? ...

    Good Morning,
My computer is using Snow Leopard 10.6.5 and has ilife 09 installed on an imac. I have been reading it is better to use imovie 06. When I tried to do a custom install from the 06 disk imovie and idvd were grayed out but had a checkmark. It would not let me deselect idvd. Not really knowing how to do this I quite the process. Can you or someone please advise me on how and what exactly to do in order to accomplish a custom install of imovie 06? Should I delete imovie 09 first? If so how is this accomplished. Perhaps it would be less complicated to purchase photo to movie? Really do not want to spend unless it is necessary since I only know a little about what I'm doing but enough to be dangerous to my computer

  • Problem with audio quality using Vizio WebCam on V...

I'm using an Vizio XCV100 Internet Apps TV Video Camera connected via a USB port on a Vizio model E401I-A2 to Skype with my daughter.   The audio is terrible.  The audio is broken up (comes and goes) and lags behind the video.   Sometimes there is feedback and an ongoing wind noise.   I tried the Skype Echo/audio test and I get some wind noise but nothing like what happens when actually Skyping to daughter.   We have ruled out the other end (daughter's eqmt) which happens to be a Vizio TV and Vizio Camera.  she has no problems Skyping with others or with us using our laptop.   We returned our first Vizio Camera and got another camera and have the same problem!   Very frustrating.  Someone mentioned we may need a filter, etc.   Any and all support greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear you are having problems.
A few things you can try:
    1. Turning the volume of your TV up too high during a call can cause the kinds of audio problem you describe. Try turning the TV volume down and this should stop the 'feedback' problems you are having.
    2. If you are using external speakers, then try switching these off and using the speakers built in to the TV. The TV was originally tested for Skype using the TV's internal speakers, so if you have a soundbar or other external speakers connected, the audio performance may suffer on Skype calls.
    Best wishes

  • Set picture size & use external speakers 42TL515U

I can change the picture size but it does not hold. I want to set the size and have it remain that size. When I change channels and return it goes back to 4.3. It is a non HDTV channel.
Can I hook up a pair of external speakers powered by the TV? I have an Onkyo receiver but I want to power two of those speakers by the TV when I'm not using the receiver. I don't know if both can be connected or how to set that up. The receiver will be off but both connected may be an issue. The TV speakers are a bit weak.
    Thanks

Thanks, it appears the auto aspect needs to be left on for 16:9 and the 4:3 stretch needs to be turned on as well for standard def stations. It might solve my problem if the 4:3 stretch is a good viewing mode. Theater 1 is what I prefer, is a way to retain that setting?
To bad about not powering external speakers, the std speakers really lack.

  • Pixillation on picture when using external drive

Hi, I have been editing with Final Cut Pro 5.0 on my Mac Book OS 10.4.8 2GHZ !GB 667 MHz, capturing directly to my hard drive, until I recently ran out of space. I bought a My Book (Western Digital) 500 GB Premium (7200RPM firewire) drive to move all the video footage to, but after moving it, the picture in the sequence is pixillated and crappy (it worked fine when the media files were on the internal drive). Can someone help me-- is it the drive or the limitations of the computer? Or is there a way to fix this problem?
    Any answers would be appreciated.
    Thanks

So as I look at it this morning, it looks that the video (as Quick time files) plays fine directly from the external drive. No pixillation in just playing the Quick time files. The pixillation is evident in FCP only, mostly on the high motion material. And just to repeat, the pixillation was not there when playing from the internal hard drive. I did indeed format the drive for the Intel-based Mac.

  • Does the "new iPad" output better picture quality to an HDTV (via HDMI adapter) than the previous iPads? Or is it pretty much the same?

I'm currently using the iPad 2 to review photos and I also mirror it to an HDTV (via HDMI adapter). Does the "new iPad" output a better picture quality using the same connection method? This is mainly in reference to mirroring and not for watching movies/video.

    Wundrbr3d-
I expect that video will be higher resolution since there is also a new HDMI adapter available for the iPad 3.  I do not know if it is required for a lower resolution source, but probably is for higher resolution.

  • Visio 2013 Org Chart Changing Picture Quality

    Hi,
I'm trying to make an org chart with a lot of employees. I can generate the chart with the wizard, but if I add pictures, Visio tends to crash before finishing. I ended up generating the org chart with the wizard and then added the pictures using vba and the
ChangePicture function. This works well enough to solve the crashing problem. However, for larger JPEG images (300KB or larger), many of them don't seem to show up. If they do, they tend to randomly disappear and reappear when I go through the different pages
of the chart and come back to it. Is there a way to lower the picture quality using vba before or after putting them on the chart?
    Thanks,
    Bobby

    Hi,
In regarding of the issue, we might try to troubleshooting the Visio 2013 crash during you using the Organization chart and check if it is helpful. I have some questions:
How many images do you insert to the diagram?
    Where do you get the
organization information (Photos)? Form exchange server, text, excel file or ODBC-compliant data source?
    Please try the following methods:
    Install the latest patches.
    Start Visio in
    safe mode.
    Repair Visio.
Add the size of virtual memory
If the issue still exists, please check what happened when Visio 2013 crash via the
    event log.
If you need further assistance about "lower the picture quality" via VBA, please post your question to MSDN forum:

I've got a MacBook Pro 15' running 10.6.6. I want to use an external monitor for my graphic design work using Adobe software and thought I'd try an HD TV. I ran a Mini Display to HDMI lead to the TV but the picture quality was disappointing. I also tried a Mini Display to VGA lead and that wasn't much better. I tried all variations of resolutions in System prefs - Displays but nothing helped. Am I getting something wrong? Thanks all.

In addition to pixel density, you are up against the translation driver card in the TV.
If you read the fine print of computer-resolution-capability in the TV user guide, you will see a chart as tall as the manual page.  At the top is the smallest resolution capable, at the bottom is the full use of the 1080p in the TV.
Mac falls into the top 25% of the page, maxing out at 1366x768 often.  This is because the TV control card is expected to do too much of the work, but is not designed for computer-monitor processing.
I looked at the resolution charts on 2 TVs before deciding to buy a 1080p LCD monitor that has a TV interface/connector.  Computer monitor first, TV second.  But the thing is only 27 in.  Good thing TV is not as important to me as it is to others.

  • Can you use a webcam as an external iPhone 5 camera?

Reason I ask is because it would help me out at my job, and might be helpful to someone else.
I work a resident manager at a storage facility (live on site) and we have to mirror check units to make sure people aren't storing what they are not suppose to and sometimes I have pull out the bulky 8 foot ladder. Or to see if they move out of the unit and left their lock on the unit.
I was wondering if there was a camera/device you can plug into the lightning connector and use your iphone5 as a view finder like a borscope/endoscope.
Because the camera on the back if you reach over a storage unit you can not see the screen, and then if i flip it around to use the face camera i cant use the LED light... also taking a photo using the flash on the back camera does not get a clear picture at all
I don't have wifi in the building that I can use to do an IP camera.
I was looking at Bluetooth cameras like the "Contour" but its out of my price range.
Is there a way I can use a webcam as an external iPhone 5 camera? with an app?
I think if someone can invent this they could make some Big money
Is there any cheaper Bluetooth cameras out there so I can point the camera over the unit with one hand and use my iPhone 5 as a view finder in the other?

I have an external HDD that I use for backups once in a while, BUT to be honest with you I last backed up my iTunes stuff (around 30K songs) over a year ago. Maybe it is time for another backup.
In all fairness, the whole time I have been using Mac's (since 2001) I have never had a major crash (knock on wood) so it has not been high on my priority list tbh. This said, how Apple have been acting lately I feel they have become a little too big for them selves and I have started to notice errors here and there, something that was unheard of earlier
Anyway, in most cases it is never the HDD that causes problems and extracting data from these are not a major hinder so I'm good...
EDIT: Oh, maybe I misunderstood the question

  • Disable iSight camera and use external USA webcam

We have a macbook and use a large monitor for managing brochures etc. I would like to mount an external USB webcam on the monitor and use it with Skype. However, whenever I open Skype it turns on the iSight camera (which is facing a wall). Is there any way to have the external webcam be the active camera and disable the iSight camera?
    Thanks

I no longer use Skype, so I cannot test Skype's claims, but http://www.skype.com/go/help should best be able to help you use their product with your system.
I found this page http://www.skype.com/help/guides/skypeformac/skypefeatures/video.html that seems to address your specific question. The picture on that page shows that you should be able to select among connected cameras from the "Camera:" choices bar in Skype > Preferences > Video:
Of course, if you have only one compatible camera connected, only the one choice will show.
Use the latest version of Skype that is compatible with your system. If camera selection works as explained in the Skype Help page, there should be no need to "disable the iSight camera."

  • Using an external webcam or an iPhone 5s with a Macbook Air

I'm trying to record videos and do better video chats in PhotoBooth or iMovie with something of better quality that the built in iSight camera.  Can't seem to figure out if it's possible to use my new iPhone 5s as an external video camera -- doesn't seem to recognize it as an external camera-- and can't find the best recommendation online for a better external webcam that does both video chat and recording.  Any suggestions?

    Linc Davis
You can't use the phone. Any USB webcam that complies with the UVC standard should work. Logitech makes several
Nope.   You can get video off a logitech in a mac, but only thru photobooth or likewise and recording video wont work.
Any audio thru Logitech webcams wont work (tried several), and forget about any of the really good software that comes with the logitech webcam working on the Mac.
Frankly, Logitech is absurd for being so anti-Mac compliant, ....since their webcams are very nice and great quality.

  • How do I manipulate & share pictures from an external drive on my Mac and PC using iPhoto?

I recently got an imac, and I am new to the the mac world but decided I loved my iphone how bad could a mac be?  My husband and I each have our computer he has a PC & I have a mac and a PC laptop.  We bought an external hardrive to dump all my many many pictures on it.  The idea is we will not save anything on our computers but instead work off of the hard drive that is automatically backed up.  Ok now that you know the back ground.
How can I view pictures from the external hardrive in iphoto with out haveing to make an iphoto library on my external hardrive.   I would not mind putting all my pictures in the iphoto library as long as I could view or manipulate the pictures from a PC, does anyone know if this is a possibility?  I have asked at the one to one sessions that I paid for but they can't help.  I guess it also hard for them to help when I can't very well be lugging my desk top in and out of the mac store for help.
Any ideas I really like the iphoto tools and it could be very helpfull, but only if it doesn't limit me to always working from my computer.  I have great photo editing software on my laptop and want to be able to access the pictures from my laptp edit save and later view from my mac.
Any ideas?  I found out how to make iphoto open the iphoto library on my external harddrive but I am asking for more.
    Please help  thanak you

  • Poor quality Video, picture pixelated using apple tv

Hi, I can stream video like bbc iplayer using apple tv2, from my iPhone 3GS and my ipad2. Moving pictures ( video) tends to be very pixelated to fast the image the worse it is . Still photos are good and the sound is perfect.. Wifi is from BT with router hub 3   The picture quality is the same using wifi or Ethernet cable. Is my problem with the hub ? If so can you recommend a router that is comparable with BT and apple tv?

    Winston Churchill wrote:
I've just carried out a few tests using iPlayer.
I have a largish house and use a number of wifi base stations to compensate for both the distance and the fact that I often have quite a lot of network traffic.
At first I found the quality of the video very good, but I then switched the networks the devices were using so that instead of using the nearest base station they were using the furthest one away, at which point I got pixelation too.
    That's useful info.
Sounds as though Airplay does have rate adaptive video quality in this case?

  • I have all my pictures in an external drive, how do i create a library in iphoto without using my internal drive space?

i have all my pictures in an external drive (around 1tb), how do i create a library in iphoto without using my internal drive space? thanks!

In iPhoto use the command "File > Switch to Library" and then click "Create New" in the Library Chooser panel.
Select a folder on your external drive as the destination.
You can also get to this panel by holding down the alt/options key when you launch iPhoto.

At what point is the video quality bad?  Is it bad on capture?  I would recommend using an s-video 1394 firewire converter instead.  They capture the video at a higher bit rate.  If you have a lot of 8mm tapes to capture, invest in a stand alone DVD recorder.  They capture and compress in one shot.  If you need to rip it back from the DVD into iMovie again, I would recommend using DVDxDV.
