Declining a meeting invitation

I have raised this with several of RIM's partners and see that it keeps appearing in each OS update. When a user declines an eVite on Blackberry mail, his name is permanently removed from the host's list of invitees, and the user no longer receives any updates or rescheduling notices. Lotus Notes, Outlook, Apple, and other email systems allow the user to select an option to stay apprised of any updates or rescheduling notices, so that the user gets another chance to accept an invitation to a rescheduled meeting. This has been a long-standing deficiency in the BB software.  It is one of the main drivers for many users to switch to non-RIM operating systems.  Are there any solutions to this, or at least a viable work-around?  The only one I know is to tentatively accept the meeting and add a comment to the effect that I am really declining but would like to know if you reschedule it to a more convenient time.  Thanks, everyone!

I would LOVE to know the answer to this also. I hate that it declines meetings when I just want to delete them. This should be an option like outlook that allows me to choose whether to send a response.

  • Issues when accepting meeting invite received via exchange

    Hi,
My iphone (3G 3.0) is syncing with push via an exchange server. What I am finding out is that when I accept, tentatively accept, or decline a meeting invite, I also am doing the same "On Behlaf of" whoever is on either side of me in the meeting invite. I do not have any type of access to these people's email, calendars etc.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyway to resolve it?
    Thanks!

We're seeing the same thing. Using iphone 3gs with exchange activesync 2003 and outlook 2003 client.
Although after a lot of testing we've narrowed it down a little. It seems to accept on behalf of the the person that appears first alphabetically in the list of recipients, and stops there.
For instance, my name starts with a 'J' (Jason). So if there are others that were invited whose name starts with a 'C' (Carol), and then a 'G' (Greg)....and I accept the meeting invitation, it will only "accept on behalf of" Carol but not Greg. So the meeting organizer will see a message that appears to be from Carol, but it actually states that Jason accepted on behalf of carol. The organizer will also receive the proper response that you (Jason in this case) accepted.
Other testing showed that if YOUR name was the lowest alphabetically in the recipients list (Jason, Sam, and Tom), then it will accept for you properly, but not accept those with names starting with a higher letter in the alphabet than your name.
So it appears to choose the first name in the recipients list in alphabetical order.
We also noticed that if the meeting organizer sends the request *from his/her iphone* (with the same recipients - Carol, Greg, and Jason), and Jason accepts it on his iphone....it will not accept on behalf of Carol.
So far we don't have a solution....but that's what we've figured out at this point.
    I hope it makes sense.

  • My phone only sends invite responses when I decline the meeting.

    Hi,
I have a blackberry passport and I love it! I always get questions about it! So Thank you!
I do have one issue with accepting or declining work gmail calendar invites.
My phone only responds to meeting invite with an email when I decline the invite.
If I click accept, nothing happens. If I decline first, then accept, then my status on google calendar is accepted.
    How do I fix this?
I have a work gmail account which I've set up using Microsoft Exchange Active Sync.

It's because the phone number hasn't activated yet. This could be because the APN settings for Straight talk are not correct. It also can take up to 24 hours for the number to activate through the iMessage servers.

  • Calendar Meeting Invite from Outlook 2010 to iCal

    Hello,
I am very VERY new to Macs and to be honest Calendar invites in general (Came from a Lotus Domino environment). I have come across an oddity that I am almost sure is related to the content of the .ICS file generated by Outlook and then sent to a mail user who uses an Apple Max OS X 10.7.3. (our Managing Director). It has resulted in me (IT for the company) buying an Apple Mac to try and troubleshoot. Sorrry for the Blurb
    Working Scenario is
    1. Use a Google email account and the Web interface to send a meeting invite to another Google homed account and that person uses a Mac as described.
    2. Invite arrives and is automatically available in iCal with a tentative meeting (grey) event PLUS the notification panel in iCal showing an alert.
    3. The notification Panel alert can then be used to Accept/decline the invite.
For the MD this is how he wants to work. As he gets numerous invites he can quickly scan down the notification alerts and access/decline as he goes. Rather than opening all of the email messages.
    Failing Scenario is
    1. Use an Outlook 2010 client to send the exact same invite to the same person at the same time (etc.)
    2. Invite arrives in the Mac mail Box. BUT DOES NOT trigger iCal's notification panel
    3. The Mac User needs to click on the attached .ICS file and if iCal is also visible you can see the notification alert appear
I have TextEdited both .ICS files and yes they are different. The general VCALENDAR elements are roughly the same but there differences with bits and pieces that a too numerous to mention. There is also all of the garbage with X- elements which I would think iCal will ignore anyway. I have tried hacking the failing .ICS when it arrives but that doesn't mimic the same type of flow and in the end I can't modify the .ICS files either as they are sent or arrive.
Yes, I have told the Outlook client to send using the iCalendar format for external recipients.
I was wondering if anyone had come across the same type of requirement or the same type of issue?
    thanks in advance
    Bruce.

I had the identical problem.  I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
    1.  Connect the 4s to the computer.
    2.  Open iTunes.
    3.  Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
    4.  Click on the info tab.
    5.  Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
    6.  Ditto for Calendars.
    7.  Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes.  I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s.  That did the trick.

  • OSX Yosemite Calendar - Repeated Meeting Invites Being Sent

I have an MS Exchange account (Office 365 for business) set up in the Calendar application (Yosemite). For a few recurring meetings with multiple invitees (both internal and external to our organization) Calendar, through the Mail application, is sending multiple meeting invites to those participants who were originally invited and had accepted. I cannot determine what activity is causing these invitations to resend but it is quite annoying (especially when client's keep getting the notifications. The frequency seems to occur randomly and can be months after a meeting was created. Any thoughts or insight?

If you don't be granted the permission for someone's calendar folder, we need to set automatically process meeting requests on his mailbox. In Outlook 2013, we can do this from File > Calendar > Automatic accept or decline section > Auto Accept/Decline
Or we may set Outlook rule to auto-accept the meeting invites:

  • Ical doesn't execute .ics meeting invitations

    Hello everybody,
My iCal and Mail just worked fine for quite a while. When I received meeting invites in Mail, sent from Lotus Notes, they automatically appeared in iCal, and I could accept or decline them, and my response was sent back through Mail. So far, so good.
Now, all of a sudden, this won't happen anymore. I tried to manually detach .ics attachments from my invites in Mail, save them to the desktop, and double click on them to force them appearing in iCal - no result.
I'm left without a clue - can anybody help me out on this?
    Appreciate your feedback,
    Sincerely gulpithegulp

Does it display any kind of error message? It may be that the location of the script has changed. It seems that iCal saves fixed paths to scripts and not aliases. This means that if the path to a script changes it won't run. Try to rename a script and then select it again in the event. You'll want to rename so that you can distinguish it from the previous script entry. iCal only displays the name of the script, not the path used by the alarm.

  • No Reply option available for Meeting Invite from Lotus Notes

Upgraded to a 8310 and now my Lotus Notes Calendar appointments don't synch properly and all meeting invites are treated as emails. So no Reply or Decline function.
Has anyone experienced this? Have searched the web and no results.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Is your Notes email integrated to your BB via BES? If so, then your BES admins really are in complete control of it. But, perhaps this will help them?

  • Meeting "Invites" not received as "invites" but as empty emails

My family all have Blackberries of varying generations and updates. We are on a Verizon family plan.
We frequently use the "meeting invite" function to send each other calendar entries of our activities, in order to do the "family synch" of logistics and administrivia.
However, in the past few days, we noticed that our "invites" to each other are arriving to the recipients as emails--empty emails. The only thing on the email is the FROM and the TO and the subject line. The rest of the email body is empty and there is nothing about the email to indicate it is a calendar entry or meeting invite. There is no place for the recipient to "accept" "decline" or "mark as tentative," either. There is no indication to the sender that the invite was received or responded to in any way, either.
It doesn't seem to matter which one of us is sending which other one fo us a meeting request...it is just not arriving as a request or invite at all.  Ironically, my office Blackberry--the oldest of all of them--is the only one that can still send an "invite attendee" for a new appointment or meeting request, and it will arrive in a useful format to the recipient, who can than "accept," etc.  However, it will no longer receive the "invitation" correctly, but instead it also gets the request as an obscure email.
Please help! Our family's sanity depends on this function!

I Fixed mine..  This is how
    1.  Contact Blackberry Tech support and mention tis article
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB17471
    2.  Then advise then of this solution
    Resolution:
Reintegrating email address to use POP instead of MSNMSP resolved issue
Then all your issues are fixed.  Good luck

  • Missing Meeting Invite on Calendar, received on Exchange Email Acc

    Hello
I own a 3GS running IOS Ver: 5.1.1. I have my office exchange email account configured on my iphone.
When I get a meeting invite initiated by a colleague via our corporate Outlook 2010 mail system; the notification does get downloaded and it shows the meeting details and options to accept/decline the meeting.
When I accept the meeting on the iphone, the mail and the event completly disapper, off my phone off my exchange mail box and pritty much from this planet.
It is not in the iphone exchange sent mail box, nor does it show as a meeting on the iphone calendar.
Please help, I have a meeting tomorrow morning and I cannot find the details of the meeting anywhere. This has happened with my phone a few times in the past on other 5.x versions of the OS. But now, this meeting is a make or break and I have no details of this meeting.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi @alexklkam
I'm unable to reproduce this issue, all of my calendars match up after several tests.
If possible can you record the steps you are taking that cause to issue to occur so I can do some more testing?
Can you let me know what type of email\calendar service are you using, e.g. Outlook.com, Gmail as well?
When this issue occurs, does the entry ever appear?
For example, if you close and re-open Blend after noticing the entry isn't shown, does it appear again?

  • Calendar, Meeting invitations -

I am using latest software version. I want to meeting invite to other contacts but the "invitees" option does not appear. Does anyone have a solution?

Same thing here. Running Exchange 2007 with current service packs. iPhones are all new 2009 3GS 16 GB models with iPhone OS 3.0.1.
Sometimes when the iPhone user accepts, the aceptance show up correctly on other user's calendars (i.e.; Outlook 2003 and Entourage 2008), but most of the time they appear as "tentative".
Removing an envent on the iPhone can only be done by pushing the "Decline" button, but this wont remove the even from the user's calendars in Outlook or Entourage.

  • Receive and respond to meeting invitations only for Microsoft Exchange

    Hello,
On Apple support page it says to iPhone Software version 3.0:
"If you have a Microsoft Exchange account, you can receive and respond to meeting invitations."
That means with MobileMe it's still not possible.
What kind of service is that, if Apple supports Microsoft better than their own service?
    Regards,
    JO

    Hi All--
I have been looking for this feature with MobileMe. I was hoping that it would have come with 3.0 -- but no luck. It would be really nice for MobileMe users to send/receive/accept/decline event or meeting invites from their iPhone or iCal.
I heard something about event invites in Snow Leopard iCal... will have to wait and see.

  • Lync 2013 meeting invitation customizations not working for some users

    Hello Microsoft TechNet Forms,
I have a strange problem that I am totally stumped on. I made some modifications to the Lync 2013 meeting configuration to add in my company's logo, a footer and set a custom help Lync URL. Now everything seemed to work expect for myself and
one other person I tested with. If I try creating a new Lync 2013 meeting via my Outlook 2013 the normal stock Lync meeting invite appears. Yet testing with any other user everything I have changed appears as expected and I am at a total loss to why.
I have so far from troubleshooting determined it must be something with my account that is causing it but I have just not been able to determine what. As signing into a different machine yields the same result yet testing with another account that is
known to work on the exact same machine works correctly with the different account. I have tired deleting and re-crating my Lync account just in case that had something to do with it but that didn't fix the problem. I have tired repairing Office 2013 to
running windows update on Office 2013 which didn't help.
The changes I made to the meeting configuration are global scoped. I have so far not found anything online from anyone ever reporting a similar issue to this. At this point I am stuck on what I should be looking for with regards to what is stopping
the meeting invite updating for myself and the other person. Given I don't know what mechanism is involved with updating the Lync meeting invite on Outlook 2013 I am stumped. I am open to any suggestions someone might have as to what to do next or what might
be the cause of this problem.
    Nicholas,

    Hi Nicholas,
Can you compare your account with other’s and check if your account is applied any special policy in Lync Control Panel ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to send meeting invites using Exchange Email Account

Does anybody know how to send meeting invitations using the 3.0 software update?
My corporate email is set up with an Exchange ActiveSync account, but I can't figure out how to send meeting invites?
Is it a function solely of the iPhone 3.0 OS, or is it dependent on the Exchange setup.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    David

That is what I was afraid of...the good thing is that is the only feature (besides battery life) that I miss from my Blackberry. Thanks.

  • Force CalDAV calendar in iCal to send meeting invites via Mail

A handful of people are experiencing issues sending out meeting invite emails via a Google Apps (CalDAV) calendar that is setup in iCal. Meetings are showing up on invitees calendars, but they are not receiving email notifications about them.
Thread on that topic here: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=368ec40a6bdd7bb8&hl=en
    and here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2707217&tstart=0
*So, my question is this*: Is there a way to force Mail.app to send out a meeting invitation of a CalDAV calendar that is setup in iCal, instead of using whatever system the CalDAV calendar uses (in my specific case, Google Apps). My assumption is that iCal uses the Mail.applescript or Mail.scpt file that is inside the iCal package (iCal > Show Package Contents > Resources > Mail.applescript) when sending out an invite from a local calendar. Any way to force a CalDAV calendar to use that script?

    I had that problem too.
I changed my mail preferences "Add invitations to iCal" from Automatically to Never and that seems to work for me.
    Hope that helps
