Decode AC3 Dolby with Audigy ZS or Inspire 5500 digita

Hello, i need your advice, I have Sound Blaster Audigy ZS and Inspire 5500 Digital,
which best to Decode AC3 (6 Channels)
decode with Audigy or Inspire?
Thanks

arturjose,
You should have the sound card bypass the AC3 signal to the speaker for decoding. Remember to also have the DVD software setup to SPDIF bypass the AC3 signal.

  • Problems setting up a Creative Inspire 5500 Digital 5.1 System

Hello! I've had a problem ever since i've owned my Inspire 5500 Digital system whereby I havent had any functionality from the decoder at all. I have only managed toget it working with my pc however the sound played fine (after a lot of tweaking using the Creative software bundled with my soundcard) however I havent been able to connect any other devices to it, they just dont work! Even playing music on the pc, I cant use the decoder volume control etc. Therefore my dillema is as follows, I have recently built a brand new pc and want to reconnect the Inspire's (correctly this time!), I have the following soundcard: X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Soundcard with the following outputs on the back of the card:
    Line Out (Green)Line Out 2 (Black)Line Out 3 (Orange)Optical
Below is a breakdown of inputs/outputs of the Inspire 5500 Digital hardware: Decoder Audio Outputs Front (Green hole)Rear (Black hole)Center/subwoofer (orange hole) Decoder Audio Inputs Analog Line In CoaxialOptical Other Sockets DIN Now im going to list whats on the back of the subwoofer: Power Supply4 pin AC power input Satellite Speakers Inputs Front left socket for front left speaker Front right socket for front right speakerRear left socket for rear left speakerRear right socket for rear right speakerCenter socket for centre speaker Audio Inputs Front (Green)Black (Rear)Orange (Centre/subwoofer) Other SocketsDIN Now im going to list the leads that I have that came with the set (so in theory there should be sufficient equipment to get decoder functionality): x 4 Pin Mains lead x Line In Cable with the three heads on each end (green, Black and Orange) x DIN Cable x Optical Cable(Obviously all the satellite speakers have their own leads that plug into the corresponding ports on the back of the subwoofer) The last set up, I had the following:
The 4 pin mains lead plugged into the back of the subwoofer (this is correct as this is the only mains input)
Satellites connections into their corresponding holes
The DIN lead connected the woofer to the decoder
the Line-In lead ran from my soundcard to the back of the decoder
Where can I possibly be going wrong? The decoder powered up and played pc music however I couldnt control the volume from the decoder. I tried connecting my ps2 (with optical out enabled in the ps2 settings) with an optical lead running from the back of my ps2 into the optical input on the back of the decoder but it didnt work either!
If anyone could please help and give me a step by step guide to simply putting the right wires in the right places, that would be fantastic. Its really doing my head in!!
    Thanks again!

Try connecting Your three connections fom your sound card (green/black /orange) directly into your subwoofer inputs (green/black/orange), then, of course, your five speakers into the appropriate outputs on your subwoofer. I have the same setup except, I am using the X-FI Elite Pro which has a built in decoder, and I believe yours does too. Now, you can also look at the top of this page and click on "support". then choose "product documentation", then go through the product finder, then click on the download link, and after agreeing to the terms, choose to save the download to a location of your choice on your hard dri've. now if you just click to open the file it might not load properly, so just in case, right click the folder, and choose "Properties", and on the "general" tab click the tab at the bottom that says "Unblock" button, then click OK, this manual will give you every detailed way?to hook up your speaker system. I hope this helped. Good luck!

  • Audigy 2 and inspire 5500

    hey there,
i know this isnt strictly about mobo's but i am using a k7n2 one so plz help, lol
ive got an audigy 2 sound card and was wondering what speakers to get. im after a 5.1 set and was thinking of getting creatives inspire 5500. they are digital but is this really going to make a difference. my main use is gaming and listening to music so will the digital set be worth it as the audigy 2 has a dsp on board?
    cheers

I just last weekend blew my EV-Sonics and sent them back (again).
I compared sound systems in the stores and found for the money the Logitech Z-560 to be tops.
Just for ha ha's I compared side by side the Logitech
Z-560 4.1 and the Z-680 6.1 speakers and could not justify paying twice for the Z-680 system.
I purchased the Z-560 and use the Audigy 2 platinum with them and I haven't blown them up. Great sound and you can actually turn them up without them going silent suddenly.
http://www.newegg.com has an incredible price on them now but I paid $50.00 more to have them right away.
Your not going to beat that deal anywhere.

  • XFI Elite Pro to Inspire 5500 speakers, no rear so

I have an xFI Elite Pro and some Inspire 5500 Digital Surround Sound speakers. If I initiate a test from the remote that controls the Speaker's "brain" I get all surround points working just fine, so I know they are connected properly from there. From the "brain" I have the /8th" cable that came with the speakers for a digital connection to a soundcard connected to the flexjack on the back of the soundcard part of the xFI and it is set to Digital I/O. Whenever I initiate a test from the Creative Software, when it says "rear right" and "rear left", it comes out the front speakers. I have the CMSS turned off . I have the decoding turned off on the sound card cause the speakers take care of the decoding. What am I doing wrong? Please help, thanks.

    Well,
I went back to gigabyte.com.tw and this time, there were new BIOS available ... I still don't understand why they weren't there yesterday ..
Anyway, I updated to F6 (latest version) and ... sound is still very low, crappy, crackkkkking and so on ..
I'm gonna throw this through the window :'(

  • Pops sounds when Decoding AC3 with audigy

Hi, i want to make audigy zs decode ac3, doing the following:
in powerdvd 6 , i set to spdif out, and in audigy "use internal decoder" is enabled, it works fine with dts decoding, but with ac3 there's pops sounds during loud scenes, if i enable "dynamic range compress" in AudioHQ, the pops sounds disapears but the dynamic range is gone too, something i don't want because i really want to enjoy that sound.
Is there a way to listen the wide range sound of AC3, i mean with dynamic range enable without the pops sounds that produce when decoding ac3 with audigy zs?
someone has tried this or there's no chance to do it at all!

Well, a think all of you are not telling the truth, because you dont' even test it in the scene i mention(Lord of thr rings)
For you to know, there's movies that there's no pops sounds at all, like the original star wars trilogy, shrek , no problem, but in LOTR trilgy there's a problem.
Now for BigBen he said something different in:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=3043&quer y.id=4735#M3043
In that forum, i had and old computer Pentium III 500 MGHZ, that didnt,t work anything, Dvd audio, dts, ac3 decoding. nothing.
    I tried all and nothing.
finally i gave in, and bought another cpu because maybe it was an issue of the mother card,
i bought a Compaq DeskPro En(Pentium III 000MGHZ). now all the problems i had before are gone, except for the pops sounds in Ac3 decoding in LOUD SCENES, now this is common problem for most users, now if you say you don't have, well try lord of the rings Trilogy, Return of the king!

  • DTS support with audigy 2 zs and inspire t5900

Can i have dts and dd audio with inspire 5.1 5200 or t5900 and audigy 2 zs ?
At link (http://www.creaf.com/speakers/source...rt-Speaker.pdf) inspire 5.1 5200 has no dts support with audigy 2 zs ...

    sussie,
Yes. The Audigy 2 ZS sound card support DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 decoding so it will work with the speaker.

  • Problem with inspire 5100 digital decoder

I have some problem with the decoder included with the Inspire 500 digital. I usually have it connected by soundblaster's audigy digital out to decoder's coaxial digital in (SPDIF). and recently sound has dissaperas replaced by a chipping and cropping low noise. Have you any ideas about it's. When I connect the soundblaser's speakers out to decoder's line in works only for stereo (losing 5.1 capabilities), and bypassing the decoder i can get 5.1 sound, but i can't use the included remote control to change volume or anything.
    Thank you.
I'm sorry for my poor english, it's not my native lenguage.

I'm not sure exactly how you're connecting things. You say you connected an optic out to a digital DIN on the receiver? These are totally different connectors.
The output on the card itself isn't optical. What you could use is a minijack to RCA (female) adapter, and then connect a standard RCA to RCA, male to male (SPDIF) cable to that, which plugs into the coaxial input on the receiver. Alternati'vely you could use a minijack to Digital DIN adapter and connect the DIN cable to that, and connect to the receiver.
Do you have the SBLi've 24-bit External? Do you mean you connected the optical output to the optical input on the receiver?
It may be best to contact Customer Support to speak to them one-on-one, to go over the connections and settings, if you're unsure of which to use.

  • DDTS-100 decoder with Inspire 5500 speakers?

I've been a very content owner of the Creative Inspire 5500 set (decoder and speakers) for two years now, but just recently my decoder has been playing up. I wish to purchase the DDTS-100 decoder and was wondering if I may use the speakers from my present Inspire 5500 set? The speakers are 5.1 - 8W RMS sub, with five 6W satellites. The speakers are similar (if a little less powerful, I think, than those with the Inspire 5700 set. Is this OK? I searched the archives for a mention of people using this set-up, but can't find any posts concerning this. Thanks for any forthcoming help!

  • Can I replace the Inspire 5500 decoder with a DDTS-100

    Hi,
All I want to do is replace the decoder that comes with the Inspire 5.1 Digital 5500 set with a DDTS-100, and continue to use the same speakers. Is this possible?
The only thing I can see preventing this is that at the moment the the sub and the decoder have to be connected via a din socket (for control and power), but there is no din input on the DDTS-100. Will this be a problem?
    Thanks in advance.

  • 4-pole Minijack-toRCA? (Digitally connect Audigy 2 SZ to Inspire 5500 speakerset)

    Hello forum/Creative,
After searching and searching, I'm just confused. And I'm quite an audiophile and I know quite a lot about cable and connections. I still have a problem getting (Dolby) Digital from my Audigy 2 SZ card, to my Creative 5500 (Digital) speakerset. There's a couple "paradoxes" if you will so I hope someone (of Creative) can explain this to me.Because my situation is different than everything I read before. Now the "problem" is that the 5500 digital speakerset uses an external Dolby Digital decoder that is connected to the subwoofer by a DIN-to-DIN cable. Then there are the 3 minijacks (output) that connect from the decoder to the sub. (This also enable volume control per channel via the external decoder/remote) Then there's a coaxial (digital) input that goes from the decoder to any digital out source, which at first was at the coaxial out of my DVD player, which gave the Dolby Digital 5. channel sound as it should. No problem so far.But then I bought an Audigy 2 SZ card for my pc and the problems is that the Digital Out of this card is not a coaxial one, but a minijack output.Strangly however, the 5500 speakerset includes a minijack-to-rca cable, so I can connect the coaxial input on the decoder to the minijack digital out of the Audigy 2 SZ card. Then I got just front L/R channels. I realized the included cable was a 2-pole minijack, with one ground connection and audiostream (Front L/R) What I need is a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA (. ground 2. Front L/R 3. Rear L/R 4. Sub/Center) , but I dumbfounded so far and I wonder if this cable even exists. After looking in the manuel again and checking the Creative forum and other audiofora, all I can see is a 4-pole minijack-to-DIN (digital din)Here'smy problem with that:st of all my external decoder is connected to the subwoofer via a DIN-to-DIN cable. So if I would get that 4pole Minijack-to-RCA my external decoder becomes nothing more then a nice piece of decoration. Since power from the sub goes to this decoder via the DIN cable (do I wonder if it's a Digital DIN at all)But since this decoder is also used to control volume (per channel) and has the infrared remote receiver + Dynamic Mode setting which can only be set via the remote, I would loose all these functions?I know the Audigy 2 SZ has it's own Dolby Digital (EX), DTS (ES) etc, but I don't want the soundcard output alone and not use the external decoder (again, since this decoder does more than just decode alone). Now a 4-pole Minijack-to-RCA would solve all these problems and I REALLY hope these exists. (Should be possible at least).Currently I have unplugged the 3 minijacks-to-minijacks from the external decoder and plugged them into my Audigy 2 SZ card for Analog Surround. But it doesn't sound good (well at least compared to real Dolby Digital) and via this setup I lost volume control (per channel) functionallity of the external decoder. So please help me out on this. I would really appreciate it.Regards,Felix.

P.S. The 4pole Minijack-to-RCA I mention is a female RCA connector to accept the male-to-male coaxial RCA cable. I also noticed the Audigy 2SZ Quick start manual states to hook up 5. digital speakers to use a 4pole minijack-to-4pole minijack, but this is impossible since there is only a coaxial input and minijack output. So a minijack-to-minijack cable is completely wrong. After (again) checking my Inspire 5500 user's guide, I noticed ONLY THIS manual has the ONLY correct solution to hook up the set. The aformentioned 4pole minijack-to-RCA (female).Creative, why do you supply a useless 2-pole minijack-to-RCA for the digital connection of the Inspire Dolby Digital 5500 speakerset instead of the 4pole one?I mean, you buy the Dolby Digital set to get real Dolby Digital sound, but to get that from your own Audigy (2 SZ) card, you need another cable!! (and when you get it, the other cable will never be used for anything else, since it can only transfer the Front L/R signal!!

  • DirectShow MPEG decoder filter and SB Audigy 2 Va

I have an application (MyTheatre) that uses DirectShow filters in a graph to play MPEG files. The source filter has two output pins, one for video and one for audio. This post concerns the processing of the audio output pin.
The source audio output pin is connected to the input pin of a Cyberlink Audio Decoder filter. The output pin of the Cyberlink filter is connected to the input pin of the DirectSound_SB_Audigy_2_Audio_[BC00] filter. In GraphEdit I right click on the Cyberlink filter and select properties. I change the Audio interface face to "using S/PDIF".
In the Creative "Audio Console" program I set the SB Audigy 2 to use the Built-In Decoder. I connect my analog 5. speaker system to the 3 connections on the SB card as per the documentation. I can't mess up there they are color coded. (haha).
    OK, now my problems.
When MyTheatre is playing MPEG files with AC3 sound, the sound has echo and doesn't match the video. If I play a DVD with PowerDVD and use SPDIF the program sound is distorted, or just simply not there. Not only that the video suddenly doubles in speed. Weird? There are more sound problems but these are the big ones.
    So now the questions.
. What DirectShow filter should I use between my source audio filter and the SB rendering filter. Then what settings should I use so that the SB card decodes both 2 chnannel stereo and AC3 Dolby streams.
    2. Why does PowerDVD behave this way. If I set the audio properties to 2 speakers (not use SPDIF) all is fine. I realize this is not a Creative product but it seems to be related to a sound issue.
thanks for any help you can give.

I am getting this exact same problem.
I have just bought a brand new AMD64 3400. I install the extergy software from the cd, goto the creative site and get the updates and install them.
In iTunes mp3 files play at double speed, however Winamp plays at normal speed. Power DVD jumps and goes out of synch occationally but does work after a while.
When I log off my pc the windows log off tunes plays at double speed...
I have turned hardware acceleration down to half way on my graphics card...
    Can anyone help?

  • Subwoofer Problem with Audigy Pla

I recently bought a Speedlink Medusa 5. Headset, which is connected to the soundcard through 3 analog wires. Now the front- /rear- and centerspeaker are working fine, but I can't seem to get the subwoofer working with _any_ driver supplied by Creative for the Soundblaster Audigy Player. The headset itself should be ok, as it works perfectly (=> including subwoofer) with the kX drivers (after enabling "Use Subwoofer Output" and "Bass Redirection") and on the fly with the onboard soundcard of my mobo (CMI976).
I tried to enable "Bass Redirection" in the (latest) Surround Mixer app, but the setting doesn't seem to have any effect on the functionality of the subwoofer. The only effect I got was less bass when I set the frequency higher, so at least the splitting works.
Using kX is not an option, because it doesn't support EAX and AC3 decoding is still buggy. With the onboard solution I can't connect my TV card, plus it eats a lot of cpu time.
Now, do I have to buy a new soundcard for the functionality I paid about 75. for years ago?

i MUST REMOVE THE AUDIGY 4 to play the games and sent to third world as present...
    Anyone can support me?
I think it's the TRUST 800 DV PCI KIT fireware 400/800 that goes in conflict with Audigy..MAYBE (but i need it for hd fw)? Anyhelp?

  • Which latest ctac32k.sys file that can decode AC3 at driver lev

I have 5.2..20 version of ctac32k.sys that can display the decoder tab in Audio Console,I just downloaded the latest DELL driver which contains 6.0..242 version, but if I changed to this version, no decoder option will be displayed in Audio Console, don't work! so, any one have the latest ctac32k.sys that can decode AC3 at driver level with the latest 6.0..303 driver I really don't think the ctac32k.sys driver has relationship with 6.0..303, I just want to know the latest version of ctac32k.sys that can be useful and functioning at Vista 32-bit. Thanks!

ter Wrote :Thanks! Does that version that has decoder tab really working
I use AC3 filter to output AC3 to X-Fi, but no sound heard. I did enabled the built-in decoder at the tab. Anyone successfully decoded AC3 signal using that version
=== Questions, Why are you using AC3 filter and on what device are you using AC3 filter
Here's what I did to get Digital IN and decode DTS 5. sound with a simple external DVD player to my X-Fi XtremeMusic retail soundcard (SB0460) via the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module. I'm using Vista 32-Bit operating system.
First I setup my dvd players for digital sound, This is my setting and may differ with other devices. sony dvd player (Model : DVP-NS325) DVD PLAYER AUDIO SETTINGSAUDIO ATT : OFFAUDIO DRC : STANDARDDOWNMIX : DOLBY SURROUNDDIGITAL OUT : ON- DOLBY DIGITAL : D-PCM- DTS : OFF NOTE : where it says - DOLBY DIGITAL : D-PCM (I switched this setting from DOLBY DIGITAL to D-PCM)and, where it says - DTS : OFF (I set this to off, because I want to decode to a DTS device decoder through my soundcard) The term "D-PCM" means : Downmix Pulse Code Modulation Next, I connect the digital cable from the digital audio out of the dvd player via the digital in of the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module. I then went into the creative Entertainment Mode and enabled the Digital I/O. Also, In the mixer I unmute "Digital-In" and turned it up. Next, went into creative audio console, the decoder tab and enabled "Use Built-In Decoder" (DD/DTS), and set DD/DTS on Auto. Now, I went over to the dvd player, popped in a movie, called "Twister" I setup DTS 5. on the dvd root. Start the movie. So, I hear rich DTS 5. decoded sound through my computer speakers. This may not be easy for other users, I just played around with the dvd player digital audio setting and got it to work. Edit : I'm also using the latest creative sound drivers and the dell's ctac32k.sys system file to get the DD/DTS decoder tab.

  • Replace Soundblaster 5.1 with Audigy 2

I am going to replace the Soudblaster Li've 5. that shipped with my Dell last year with Audigy 2 ZS. Will my Creative Inspire 5200 speakers work ok? Will the woofer volume adjust work? The woofer volume adjust does not work for the Dell OEM product which for some music is just awfull because the woofer is far too loud?

    HJ,
It should work just fine with the 5200's and in 5. mode you will have the option to adjust the bass volume (however the bass boost will be grayed out)
