Decoding barcode using Adobe reader or i need something else?

How can i used Adobe reader to decode regular barcode generated using Acrobat 9 pro?

What exactly do you mean by "decode"?  You want to know its value?  Use a barcode scanner.

I am using Adobe Reader with paid up service through May 2015.  When I attempt to convert a file either to PDF or from PDF, I get the error message, "An error occurred while trying to access the service".  What do I need to do to get access to the service I have paid for?

    Hi DeaconTomColorado,
Please see "Error occurred when trying to access this service" when logging on to Acrobat.com.
Adobe has just released an update to Adobe Reader, so if you're accessing the service via Reader, please let us know whether the update helps resolve the issue.

  • When using Adobe Reader 11 and entering info on a US government form, 2d Barcode is grayed

2d barcode greyed out when any info is entered into the form...

    Hi Pat,
Thanks for the quick response...Here is the link to the document.
    http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864.pdf
I have tried several different things, including different computers, tried to open using Firefox / IE / Chrome (None of these even display the 2D barcode portion) and well as another PDF reader.
Basically when using Adobe Reader 11, I can see the 2D barcode normally, but when I even enter a single letter into any field, the 2D barcode is 'greyed' out.
I have searched on the forum and saw another similar post that was mentioning something about a 'license' issue, etc.  As I am the end user, there is nothing that I can do in the modification to the file, as it is a protected file (i.e. I can only comlete and print this document).
    Thanks for the help.

I have a MAC and when I try to use Adobe Reader, I get a pop up telling me to lauch ADobe Reader and accept the end user license agreement, but when I do that, there is no agreement to acknowledge.   What should I do?

I have the same problem as Pam101. I am on OS X 10.9 and Safari 7 (actually on 2 iMacs). The one iMac is fine but the other with the same versions and settings Adobe Reader will not work. What happens is the Adobe Reader icon appears on the dock, bounces once and that's it. When trying to open a .pdf file from a website a new tab is opened on Safari, the background is black and there is a pop up message (black test on a white background) that reads: "Adobe PDF Before proceeding you must first launch Adobe Acrobat and accept the End User License Agreement." This is all very well but if Adobe Reader will not launch how on earth is it possible to accept the End User License Agreement terms? Very, very annoying, especially since it all works just fine if I launch a .pdf file from a website using Chrome. What is going on here and who do I talk to in order to fix this problem - Apple or Adobe?

  • Use Adobe Reader to Save Form Data

I use Acrobat 8 Professional to create several forms and enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader so that my users can save the form data locally using Adobe Reader 7 or higher. My questions are: (1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data? For example, the form can only be save 500 times per form or is it unlimited. (2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again? (3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data? (4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional? The reason why i'm asking these questions is because I want to be in compliance with the Adobe license. My users don't have Adobe Acrobat Professional, but would like to use Adobe Reader to save the form data.

    >(1.)Is there a limit to saving the form data?
It is my understanding that you can harvest data from a form 500 times whether that be from one user of 500 users.
    >(2.)If there is a limit to saving the form like 500 times, can the same form be recreated and the limit of 500 starts all over again
You'd probably be walking on thin ice by trying that. Could be a loophole but maybe not.
    >(3.)Do I need to purchase a license to save these form data?
Not if you stay within the limit that is stated in the EULA.
    >(4.)How many forms can have enable usage rights in Adobe Reader per Adobe Acrobat professional?
Different forms? As far as I know there is no limit to the amount of different forms you use.
In my opinion, if you think you are going to go anywhere near the limitations of the EULA, consult with your attorney before proceeding. The form enabling function was never intended for large business use. Adobe has another, more costly, solution for that.

  • Can you create an electronic signature in a PDF file using Adobe Reader 9

    Hello all:
I am filling out an application that I opened using Adobe Reader 9.
It is a PDF document, and at the very bottom there is a field which is meant for my signature..
Is there away to sign this electronically?
Do I need to scan my signature and place it that field?
Can I sign with a pen tool with in  Adobe Reader 9?
Or do I need to print, sign the document, scan my document, and then import as a completely different PDF file?
    Thanks in advance!!

    That depends.
Are they asking you to put a copy of your actual signature on there or are they asking for a "digital signature"?
    They are different things.

  • "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser" error in Windows 7 and Acrobat pro 8.1.7

I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser.  Reader will now exit.  Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7.  This happens when trying to open  a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008.  If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally.  If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected.  I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome.  Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat.  Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?

tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
    1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
    2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
    3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7.

  • How do you open a PDF using Adobe Reader on your IPad in IBook?

How do you open a PDF File using Adobe Reader on your IPad When in IBook?

You can't. When you're in most of the PDF readers, the Share button gives you the option of Open In another app. But iBooks does not.
You need to add your PDFs through the iTunes method which Alec wrote about here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1040579?tstart=0
Or you can use another way of transferring your PDF to the iPad, like Dropbox. You install the Dropbox app on your iPad and copy your PDF from Dropbox (cloud application). It opens in Dropbox app and you use the Share icon to move it into Reader.

  • I can't seem to get rid of OR use Adobe Reader after I let it into Safari 7.  How do I get to the point where Reader is not my preferred anything, but can still be used if Preview won't open something?

I can't seem to get rid of OR use Adobe Reader after I let it into Safari 7.  How do I get to the point where Reader is not my preferred anything, but can still be used if Preview won't open something?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Adobe Reader does not work-how to use adobe reader on Lion

I was trying to print an international label on eBay via Adobe Reader, and was very dissapointed and shocked that it does not work on Lion.
I was so happy that I figured out how to use adobe reader on Lion, and hope I can help anyone else who is frusterated too.
    Step 1. Download Google Chrome
Step 2. Printe your international label, or whatever you need to do that uses Adobe Reader

Thanks Shelly! I too was having trouble and thought it was something wrong with my Mac. I still have a big though. When I try to print the saved pdf file, I get a pop-up that says "The document could not be printed. There are no selected pages to print" even though I am looking at the complete doc. It's there and in my print prompt "all pages" are selected to print. The way I got around this, is by emailing the pdf file to a gmail address and viewing the attachment via Google Docs. It loads perfectly and prints without a problem.

  • How safe is it to use Adobe Reader 9.5.4?

    Hello:
I'm continuing to use Adobe Reader 9.5.4.
I'm not updating to Reader  XI  yet because the system requirements say that you need a resolution higher than 800x600.  I currently operate my PC at this lower esolution. I'm not sure how problematic that would be with Reader XI, but in the meantime, I'd rather stay with the older version. Seems to be doing all I need it to do at this point..
Question: Is there a substantial security threat in my using this older version?
    TIA
