Decoupling of Logic Pro Plugins / Convert them to AUs please.
Dear Logic Pro developers,
Would it be possible to decouple the Logic Pro plugins from Logic Pro in a future version / update?
It would be really fantastic if Logic Pro plugins could become Audio Units rather than proprietary to Logic.
Since Logic is protected by the dongle, the Audio Unit versions could still be dongle protected, but thereby providing Logic users with much more audio possibilities.
Please consider it, please! :))

Given that apple invented yet another format for OS X - and then revised it a couple of times - I think the fact that Logic's plug-ins don't support that format isn't the greatest advertisement for AU.
OK, so Apple won't buy that argument, try this: Many Apple app's (FCP, STP LP, etc) use Logic's 'proprietary' plug-ins - but which plug-ins are available in which app seems somewhat arbitrary.
For example, why no MatchEQ in WaveBurner?
Apple, at least all these proprietary, non-AU plug-ins to reside in a shared repository, and allow them to be accessed by all relevant Apple app's. . . .

After Installing Logic Pro X, my Logic Pro 9's 32-bit AUs don't work. The 32-bit bridge doesn't open and run either in my Logic pro 9. My 32-bit AU plugins are crossed out. Help?

It's a Steinberg product, not a Cubase product.. in case you haven't been paying attention Steinberg developed the virtual instrument for use in it's programs way back in Cubase 3.55.. the plethora of virtual instruments and the advent of low-latency drivers can be directly traced to Steinberg/Cubase development.. Logic also borrowed Cubase's arrange page format back in the 1980's. Cubase has borrowed from Logic to be sure but Steinberg has long been an innovator for many of the things we take for granted today. I know both programs fairly well, believe me, both Cubase 6 and 7 can hold their own with any DAW out there, they just don't come with a bunch of ready made loops and preset instruments.
LogicX will never be able to use 32-bit instruments without a third party solution, nor will it ever include the Bridge. At least according to the people I know. -
I am having more plug-in performance issues with Logic pro 7.2 version. I have a dual 2gig with 4mg of RAM. I am using BFD, Ivory, Trilogy, Hard Core Bass, Chris Hein Guitars, RealGuitar, Motu Symphonic, and MachFive. Even with all tracks frozen, I am having crashes right and left. I have been sending the responses to apple, with and without notes. I never get a response. I not sure they are there. I think they should tell us were the problem is or with what plug-in. Need help… I got out of Pro Tools and moved to Logic Pro because I thought Apple would have a more stable product and I wouldn't have to wait a year after a new OS to get updates. I hope Apple is listening.
I have been working with Logic Pro for about a year with very few problems. I did notices some performance issues start with the 7.2 update. I think the crashes started when I got Hardcore Bass. I have been trying to fine tune Hardcore Bass and have seen some improvements. I have try to add and remove plugins to determine the problem ones, and so far it appears to Hardcore Bass and Chris Hein Guitars.
My real question is why can't Logic tell us more information about a crash i.e. RAM, Plugin or something. I would like to be more helpful in a solution to the problem but I need more information from the application. -
Logic Pro + Node + Studio Setup, Need Advice, Please Help.

Ive just recently bought Logic 7.1 for my Quad PowerMac G5, and Im loving it!
Im going to build a studio in my garden (yup, im no pro). And I was thinking of purchasing a PowerBook for the studio and offload all processing and storage to my Quad machine (located in my study room in the house).
Im also considering purchasing another PowerMac G5 as for my server, and I would like to setup the server to also process Logic data and storage. Is this possible? Would i need to buy Xsan?
Another question, can I use more than 1 PowerMac G5 for Logic Pro? Also, how do I setup a Node? And in order for the Node to work do I need to purchase more Logic Pro USB Keys?
You may be wondering why am I going to purchase a PowerBook for the studio, well the answer is, i don't feel its safe to have a very expensive machine in studio, don't want it to get damaged by environment such as damage or theft, plus i spend alot of time studying.
One more thing, I have a PowerBook G4 and IMac G5, can i also setup Nodes on these machines aswell?
Any input would be brilliant. Also, your suggestions on studio setup would be also welcome.

Quad PowerMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)You won't need Xsan. I would test things out before getting too far into the idea. Your host should really be the strongest computer, all 3rd party, EXS, etc..plugins are not nodeable. You can use more than 1 node but as I see it your bottleneck would be the PBook. You can use regular file sharing just fine for this. You will need 1 USB key for each computer running Logic, the Node app requires no key. Therefore, you can run Logic on your book and 3 nodes with 1 key if you like. I would encourage you to use an iMac G5 as opposed to a Pbook if you really want to flex Logic muscle, which from the sounds of it, you intend to. iMac G5s are even cheaper than the Pbooks. Another thing to consider is some people have had no luck setting up Nodes-I've never had problems with it but there are some out there, maybe they're weird, maybe I am-but don't be 100% reliant on Nodes all the time until you have proven that in practice.

Logic Pro 7.3 Bleeping Siren from **** - Please help!!!
Folks, I've recently upgraded my system software and now when I boot up Logic 7.2 / 3, after a short amount of time of opening plug ins and recording stuff, a very loud bleeping comes out of the speakers and shortly afterwards Logic 'unexpectedly' quits.
My set up is now as follows.....
Mac G5 1.8 dual with 250gig main HD and 250gig dedictaed audio HD
OSX 10.4.8 (just downloaded)
Logic 7.3 (just downloaded to replace Logic 6 Pro)
Many audio plug ins which I've never had any problems with before, but the most recent additions are FXPansion's BFD module and Spectrasonic's Trilogy module.
PLUS, lots of other software / plugins, all of which are originals and have never given me any problems before.
The audio interface I'm using (and have done with no problems for some time, til now?) is an M-Audio 410 Firewire Interface.
Anyway, after downloading OSX 10.4.8, the Trilogy and BFD, my Logic Pro 6 refused to boot up at all (despite following the download instructions to the letter) so I downloaded the Logic 7.2 (updated to 7.3 now) and this booted up but then presented me with the bleeping siren issue.
I've tried updating all drivers to the very latest versions, on absolutely everything I'm running.
I've tried bypassing the M-Audio FW410 and instead routing everything through the Mac Built-in Speakers, but still the bleeping persists
I've tried verifying disk permissions and the verifying the disks themselves and then repairing both permissions and disks (having discovered one or two minor issues) yet still the problem persists.
It's only Logic that seems to be throwing up any problems with audio as ITunes etc. all work fine.
Hopefully, if anyone's still alive after reading all of this, you might be able to help...?!!
Many thanks folks - much appreciated if you can.Firstly, there is no Logic 7.3, so I assume you mean 7.2.3. Also, I'm not sure how you "downloaded" 7.2 as it's a paid retail upgrade only.
But anyway. Start Logic without the audio drivers ( hold CONTROL at startup ), and run the Logic AU Manger. Disable all plugins for now, and restart Logic.
Does it load now?
If not, follow all the standard troubleshooting procedures ( http://logicquicktips.blogspot.com/2006/10/troubleshooting-logic.html ) and if you still get no joy, it sounds like there might be some installation issues with your setup... -

There are loads of samples available that are compatible with the EXS24 sampler included with Logic. Just have a search round the net music shops. In the UK we have a good supplier at www.dv247.com Worth a look.
Why not get the portable recorder out and create your own?

Logic Pro 9 won't install. Please help!
I downloaded Logic 9.1.7 from the App Store.
When I try to install it, here's what happens:
1. It downloads the 2.0 GB of Basic Content
2. When it's finished downloading, it asks me for my admin password so that it can install
3. It appears to install for a couple of seconds, then suddenly, the installer bar jumps to 100% and the program closes
4. I run Logic, hoping that the app will run, but I am greeted by step 1 again
5. The cycle continues!
This is driving me crazy. I have a brand new Mac, with a fresh install of Lion, yet this is happening.
Can someone please help me?
Otherwise, does anyone know how to get money back from App Store purchases that don't work?

EoinSounds like a faulty/corrupted download, you will have to delete the Logic App from you hard drive and re-download, hopefully it's only the Logic Application you have to delete and not some of the scattered install files.
You are not the only one to have this happen to them, there have been many that either have your exact problem or are missing instrument/sample files after downloading the whole package.
You might want to call Apple and file a complaint, there's been way too many problems with Apple "download" installations. Sounds like you're not too happy with the arrangement.. Be prepared, the extra instruments and samples are 20+ gigabytes of data. Seems like Apple should offer some of their large packages on DVD.
In general, Apple customers are way too forgiving of the company, imo. -

My understanding is that if it was purchased throught the App Store, then there is no requirement for a serial number. At which point does it ask you for the serial?

Sticky proposal: Logic Pro (first draft)
Ok, here's a first draft of the proposed sticky for this forum. After looking at what we had, I decided to basically do it in four parts - introductory stuff (please post version numbers etc), problem solvers, tips, and audio general stuff.
I'm not making this a work of art, but value feedback in order to make this useful before we ask the mods for a sticky. It's not complete, such a task is a much bigger job, but it's a start. What's not there? What's confusing? Is it too much stuff? Too newbie unfriendly?
When we are happy I will probably style/format it a little better as well.

Where in the master fader chain does Logic Pro 9 convert 24-bit recordings to 16-bit files and apply dither (if chosen in the bounce to disk dialog)?
Is it post master fader, pre master fader...?
If I use a Waves L3-16 multiband limiter as the last plugin on Logic's master fader channelstrip and I choose to use it to convert 24-bit recordings to 16-bit files, where in the master fader chain does that happen, post master fader, pre master fader...?
In Digital Performer there is a way to make a plugin slot post fader, and when mastering, you are supposed to convert to 16-bit files and apply dither post master fader with the master fader at 0.

A good time to clarify the distinction between dithering and truncating. Applying 16-bit dither does not throw away any resolution. In short, it seems to me that trying to downconvert in the middle of a 32-bit float stream is a not terribly great thing to do, for the reasons outlined.
I agree. But applying 16-bit dither in the middle of a 32-bit float stream isn't necessarily the same thing. The important question is whether or not the ultimate 16-bit fixed output will be altered downstream from the dither. My assumption is that as long as faders are left at unity and no processing is done, the 16-bit output at the end will be unchanged. But I may be wrong...
Here's the thing, though... if you're correct, Bee Jay, and those resulting 16-bits get altered post-dither (even with no deliberate processing or fader manipulation), then you're essentially saying that it's impossible to apply 16-bit dither properly in a 32-bit floating environment. Since all the major native plug-in environments are 32-bit float (AU, RTAS, VST), we'd then have to conclude that all of those native dithering implementations by Waves, iZotope, etc., are worthless, eh ? That seems unlikely, but again, maybe there's someone on this forum who can confirm 100% one way or the other...

Does logic pro 10 work with the akai mpk25?
looking to buy the logic pro. not having fun with Ableton. I feel like logic pro is worth it. also do all the plug-in come wiith it? Do I need anything extra after buying logic pro to hear them through monitors?
Its not really about if it works with Logic Pro 9 or X
It's more about if it works with the version of OS X you are running or intend to run later....
So if it is currently working under Mavericks 10.9.3 then it should work with LPX or any other Audio program... for that matter.

Logic Pro Unexpectedly Quits Every Time I Open It
Every time I open Logic the App unexpectedly quits, I have tried removing the preferences folder and going through the install wizard again. Problem persists. I have also tried re-installing Logic, no avail.
I have the pro application support 4.0.2 update installed as well as the Logic Pro 7.2.3 update.

I have tried repairing the pre-binding, first with using YASU, logic still would not open after using that. Then I tried the the pre-binding script from digidesign which said no repairs were done as they were not necessary. I am not sure if this will hep but when I open logic and report to error to apple it comes up with this:

Syncing two macbooks with logic pro
I have two macbooks from 2007. Both have logic pro 8 on them. I'm scoring to film but neither machine can run the video and audio together without having
serious audio skipping and video freezing. My Question is can I sync the two machines together where one machine is used for composing/scoring and the other just playsback the video in sync with the audio? I can't afford a new computer with a processor that could handle these tasks together so I'm hoping that this option would suffice.I think Logic Node might help with your processing issues. Essentially you can link your computers over a gigabit ethernet cable to divide up the load. I happen to have Logic Pro 9 so it might not work the same for the previous version. Consult your manual and see if that could help you out. Best of luck : )

Does anyone know how to duplicate the Classic Analog Arpeggiator sample demonstrated on the Logic Pro X site?

The Classic Analog sample is below the Arpeggiator.What you use for a sound is up to you..... but there are many presets for both the ES2 and the Retro synth you could use with a but of tweaking...
Tip: Play around with the Cutoff and Resonance controls.... in the synth itself or via the Smart Controls if they are assigned...
As for the sequencer pattern....
Set up the midi sequencer like this to get the same sort of pattern at 120 bpm.... starting off from the default, and make these changes as per the screenshot below.
Now play notes at the lower end of the keyboard and you should get something close depending on the synth sound you choose...
