DeDupe and logical Questions

Can Some one explain me i ran dedupe and it shows 100 completed and that time it saved 21 GB after three days it saved 1 TB on same data how it is possible ?

Hi,
I get the reply below from Deduplication user discussions team.
There are three possible explanations for this.
1. Long running optimization job – the statistics for the job are saved periodically as the job runs, so you can watch these values increase during optimization execution
2. Open files – Data Deduplication in WS2012 skips open files during optimization.  When the files are later closed and the optimization job runs again, it would optimize those files and the SavingsRate would go up.
3. Normal file churn – after the first deduplication job ran, some non-deduplicated data on the volume was deleted.
More information on #3…
There are two measures of deduplication rate, SavingsRate and OptimizedFilesSavingsRate.
- SavingsRate is based on the total amount of data on the volume.  You can see this value decrease/increase as you add/remove data on the volume (e.g. copy a bunch of files to the volume after the optimization job has completed).
- OptimizedFilesSavingsRate is based on the total amount of deduplicated data on the volume.  You would see this value stay the same as you add/remove data on the volume (until another optimization or GC job runs).

  • Mbox Mini and Logic for school. Question?

I am going to Fullsail in Orlando, Florida in Jan. 2008. They teach Pro Tools HD there, but just added Logic Pro to the Recording Arts program. I'm thinking of buying a mbox mini and Logic Express to get more familiar with both programs before going to school.
Will the mbox mini work as an interface for Logic? I'm just trying to avoid buying a separate interface. I'll buy one if I have to. What about the Emu 0202 USB ($129.00)?
Thanks for any and all help.

Thanks. I'm actually interested in post-production
audio. Sound design, editing, foley type sound
effects and the like. I'm a musician (drums, keys)

I've heard great things about Fullsail. I'll have to

    Hi,
I undrlined the stuff you will probably be doing best in PT.Now I LOVE Logic, but the standard in studios for movies here in the USA is not Logic. It's ProTools. So learn that one first,as it is easier, and as you learn get through Logic.

  • Logic 7.2 and DM2000 and other questions..;-)

...I use Logic with a DM2000 as Control Unit... As descibed, Logic recognise the DM2000 with 2 icons in the control surface section..
When I freeze some tracks, I always get the message: Logic can´t communicate with the DM2000, check the connection..that nerves, and after that: often the mixing board doesn´t represent, what´s in the trackmixer and like it was before...So I have to switch off the DM via USB, reconnect, and Logic represents it again....Has anybody a clue, how do deal with that...
And: Although I setted up the DM like described, Logic always says at startup, take the USB ports 2-4 and not 1-3...But its the same, when I put the USB ports to 2-4...
And what about this Problems with stereo tracks...where you cant position the stereo sum really detailed in the Mix..? You have no possibility to make the stereo image a little bit smaller...? Why is there no work on details, just only new things...For me, thats really a problem!! And it really lets me come ProTools much closer....
Thanks for your reply(ies)... Best wishes

Question: By looking at the output, how can I say that RMAN did an Logical Check for the corruption? This output looks same as a simple backup without logical corruption check. Please advice how to check about this?
    Thanks!

    hi
I think you won't see any summary on this, only when corruption is found.
There is also one related setting that can be incorporated here - see example:
Example 2-25 Specifying Corruption Tolerance for Datafile Backups
This example assumes a database that contains 5 datafiles. It uses the SET MAXCORRUPT command to indicate than no more than 1 corruption should be tolerated in each datafile. Because the CHECK LOGICAL option is specified on the BACKUP command, RMAN checks for both physical and logical corruption.
    RUN
    +{+
    SET MAXCORRUPT FOR DATAFILE 1,2,3,4,5 TO 1;
    BACKUP CHECK LOGICAL
    DATABASE;
    +}+
use this to see clear output:
-- Check for physical corruption of all database files.
         VALIDATE DATABASE;
-- Check for physical and logical corruption of a tablespace.
         VALIDATE CHECK LOGICAL TABLESPACE USERS;

  • Macbook Pro 13" and Logic!

    Hello,
I am planning to buy the 2011 macbook pro 13 with i5 processor in july 2011 when it comes with the latest OSX Lion. so my question is will I be able to use the latest Logic express or Logic studio software properly and smoothly without any problem? is this configuration enough or will it be slow to run the logic express or logic studio?
I am new to the mac world and will be buying my first mac ever and also new to logic.
is the 2011 macbook 13" with i5 dual core sufficient enough or 15" i7 quad core is required?
your help will be greatly appreaciated. thank you.

    Hi
Noone can say how Logic 9.1.4 and Mainstage 2 will perform under OSX Lion as it hasn't been released yet. It's also difficult to tell you whether this configuration will suit your needs as you don't mention how needs for live performance.
Generally speaking, Mainstage and Logic run very well for me on OSX 10.6.7 on a 15" i7 MBP. I think the Quad core helps a lot, having said that a second machine I have is the C2Duo early 2008 MBP which handles Mainstage 2 pretty well too.
You may find screen size to be an issue and if your budget can stretch I'd always recommend the i7 quad over the i5 dual core.
    Hope that helps

  • Macbook and Logic pro, HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!

    Hey
Just about to buyy a Macbook 1.83, will this run my logic ok? I realise I might need more Ram but will it be ok?
I would buy the next model up but money is money.
    Thanks
    Dave

I don't see why not. My MacBook Pro runs it like a dream, and the hardware in the MacBook is pretty much identical with the exception of the GPU. And Logic certainly doesn't do much 3D rendering.
Besides, I've seen numerous reports on various Logic forums that it does in fact run great on the MacBook.
Back to the original question -- the 1.83 should do fine. I've yet to get close to maxing out my 2.0 in Logic. However, in my opinion it would be worth the upgrade to the 2.0ghz model. The one thing that really does matter with Logic is the CPU (and memory, but you already mentioned upgrading that).

  • What are AL11 files and logical files

what are AL11 files and logical files

YES. these are the files that you use to load data.
Reg your question of how to see the data sources or view data, I replied yo your other question in other thread.
"is there any way by which we can check out that particular file in application server after the data has been loaded"
You can see this in data load monitor.
I dont know what do you mean by logical files.

  • Difference between physical join and logical join

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone tell me what is the difference between physical join and logical join
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    Hi,
A physical join is at the physical layer and defines the join between two physical tables. Logical joins live at the BMM (logical) layer and define a join between two logical tables.
The important differentiation is that at the BMM layer you do not tell the OBIEE server how to do the join, you just tell it that there is a relationship between these two logical entities. When the server comes to this logical join it will use the information in the physical joins and decides how the two logical tables are joined together.
In BMM you use complex joins to establish which logical tables are joined which another, the OBI EE server will go to the physical level to search the physical join to make the query. You can also use physical joins in the BMM to override the join in the physical layer but only in very specific conditions.
If you also set complex join in the physical layer OBI EE won't be able to construct the physical query.
    Hope this answers your question.
    Award points if helpful.
    Thanks,
    -Amith.

  • A few simple Logic questions...please help.

I have a few probably simple Logic questions, that are nonetheless frustrating me, wondering if someone could help me out.
    1. I run Logic 8, all of the sounds that came with logic seem to work except organ sounds. I can't trigger any organ sounds (MIDI) on Logic, they won't play. I have a Yamaha Motif as my midi controller.
    Any idea why?
    2. I've starting running into a situation where I will record a MIDI track, the notes are recorded but they won't playback. The only track effected is the one that was just recorded. All other midi tracks playback.
I have to cut the track, usually go out of Logic and back in, re record for it to playback properly. Any idea why this may be happening?
    3. How important is it to update to Logic 9. Are there any disadvantages down the road if I don't upgrade. If I purchase the $200 upgrade, do I get a package of discs and material, or it just a web download.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Some Basic Logic Questions

I used to use Cakewalk Sonar and I knew it really well. I just got my mac pro and logic 7.2 and I'm having trouble making sense of everything, including the manuals. Can anyone suggest some tips for me on the following simple items. I really thought they would be much more intuitive.
    1. Recording Audio with my Motu 896HD.
    2. Recording Midi with my M-Audio key Station
    3. Can I bus to a master fader? I don't see one in the mix board.
    4. I really need a good compressor. Can I rely on the Logic one or should I upgrade?
    5. rewiring Reason
    6. Can I build custom drum loops like I currently do in Reason?
I just spent 3 hours tooling around and I'm a bit burnt out. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it but it's just overwhelming. I can't get used to the terms and the screens, etc.
    Your suggestions are appreciated.

Yes Logic is extremely overwhelming at first, it was for me anyway. I have had it for a little over a year now and there is still a lot that I don't know, but I think I can answer the majority of your questions.
I am not familiar with the MOTU 896HD, but I use a MOTU Traveler, so hopefully it is somewhat similar. It should be for the most part plug and play, so Logic should recognize it. When it comes to recording audio, open the mixer, and click tracks to view the audio channels. I've never used Sonar, but I'm guessing most things in this area are similar. First where a channel says something like "Input 1" you can click there and change the input source (this is the input on your MOTU), and then of course you engage for recording which I'm sure you know of this function.
Recording midi with your m-audio is extremely self explanatory also, go to your mixer and select instruments, then load some type of soft synth in as an insert, then go to your arrange window (the main window that comes up as standard) and click the tiny little engage button next to that particular channel. If your m-audio is connected, it should automatically work just like that.
Yes everything is in a master fader, if you click Outputs in the mixer, it should show your outputs, if nothing is there, then there is no output in the arrange, not to worry, click the Global button in the mixer window and then click to view the outputs, and there you go! There should be a fader for Outputs1-2, if you double click this, it will add it to your arrange window so you can automate and do stuff like that if you would like to.
A lot of people rag on the Logic Compressor, but it does the job for me. If you search around these forums, there is a post about the Logic Compressor and EQs comparing them to other 3rd party productions.
As for rewiring Reason, I have no experience with this whatsoever.
Yes you can build custom drum loops, you can insert Ultrabeat into an instrument channel and use that. It is a extremely simplistic program if you need it to be, but it also allows you to change many parameters of the samples. It comes with tons of preset drum kits and banks, and of course you can use your own.

  • Final Cut and Logic Content Disks

Are the three audio content disks (not jam packs) from Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio the same?

You're the second person to ask this question this week. I don't know if someone with Logic Studio could compare their bundled content to this list which is the content from FCS then we might be able to determine the answer.
The entire list is waaay tooo long so here is a subdirectory list you could compare. Only the Associated Production Music is a list of the contents since there is no subdirectories in that folder.

You mean "ARE" there any updates. Not is.
With macs, the software update will update your system as needed, as well as certain apple software. You do not have to go to a website to download anything. Currently, 10.4.6 (out today?) and Logic 7.2 are the newest versions.

If you are using the Metric Halo 2882+DSP and Logic 8 please let me know as I am having some goofy issues that I need to bounce off someone that might have been thru this already....
    Thanks

I have one. What's your problem? BTW, Metric Halo tech support is great. And they have an active and helpful mailing list([email protected]), with the developers answering questions.

  • Motif ES and Logic

Hi. I have a question concerning my motif es and logic. I have everything working midi wise and I have created 16 audio objects for the 16 channels from my Motif. My question is, now that I'm using the audio objects, there is no way to enter program change information. How do I do this using audio objects?
Also I was wondering if theres a way to scroll through the sounds on my keyboard without having to revert to the dropdown menus in logic. I was able to set up a fader that would control the instruments 1-127 on a single Bank, but I could not seem to be able to get a fader to change the Bank on the keyboard.
some help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Have you downloaded the Motifator LSO files?
    http://www.motifator.com/mart/mainframe_files.htm
This will create a Motif ES "MultiInstrument" with patch names and bank selects available. Then you use an AudioInstrument track with "External" as the plugin.
There's some good tutorials on MLan Motif stuff at Motifator.com - it was a lifesaver for me.
