  • [New Thinkpad Yoga 12 2015] enable Hyper-V feature on Windows 8.1 pro

    Hello,
i am a french customer, and i am very interested in the New Thinkpad Yoga 12 2015, especially the version available with  Windows 8.1 Pro. and processor Intel Core i7-5500U.
As an IT expert in Database technonlogies, i used to create virtual machines with the 'Hyper-V client' feature available in Windows 8.1 Pro.
    - I saw that the Intel Core i7-5500U processor is compatible with the Intel VT-x and EPT virtualization technologies.
    - i saw that the Bios menu offers to enable/disable 2 virtualization parameters (link : http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/yoga_12_ug_en.pdf)
Do you know if the New Thinkpad Yoga 12 allows to enable the 'Hyper-V client' feature under Windows 8.1 Pro ?
It is very important for me to have this information, because a computer without the 'Hyper-V client'  is not usefull for me
So before buying this computer, i have to be sure that it will be able to enable the 'Hyper-V client'.
Thanks a lot for tour reply

    Good day.
Please recall that this is a peer-2-peer support community. It's quite possible with the newness of the 2015 ThinkPad Yoga 12 (gen2), that no members with appropriate information have seen your post yet.
    From the Community Guidelines:
"While members from Lenovo may participate at intervals to engage in the discussions and offer advice and suggestions, this forum is not designed as a dedicated and staffed support channel."
If you require official Lenovo support, you'll need to contact them directly. I've included the info below.

  • Does ThinkPad Yoga S1 support 5Ghz Wifi service?

    Hello Everone?
I bought my Yoga S1 in May 2014 . It working nicely under the environmet of 802.11n  support Wireless router.
Yoga S1 features 802.11.ac. That is  why I bought new wireless router which supprot  802.11ac  (2.4Ghz, 5.0Ghz)
But, my yoga S1 does not catch 5Ghz wifi service, even can not see any signal about 5Ghz frequency, only catch 2.4Ghz antenna.
Other gardgets such as iphone, iPad has no problem catching ans using 5Ghz wifi over my new 802.11ac  wireless router.
Please give me some hints why this happens to my Yoga S1.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hello and welcome,
Not all TP Yogas have 5GHz capable wifi cards.  There are several configurations available.
Can you go to device manager and determine which wifi card you have?  Or provide the laptop model number?

  • How to undock Thinkpad Yoga from Onelink Docking station?

I used the search but I couldn't find the answer to my problem, so here it is:
I've got a Thinkpad Yoga and a Onelink Docking station but I can't figure out how to safely hot undock.
I cannot find any option to undock and just ripping of the onelink cable doesn't feel to be quite safe ?!?
    Thanx for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!
Even if it were physically possible, you wouldn't be able to use both Ethernet ports at the same time, because the motherboard doesn't support more than one connection at the time.

Thankss

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part.

  • Thinkpad Yoga doesn't power up

I bought a Thinkpad Yoga about 3 weeks ago. It came with two discoloured spots at the top two corners, so I went back to the shop and switched for a new one. This also came with the problem and I therefore switched for a third one again, which also had this problem.
I sent it in for replacement, Lenovo was willing to approve a direct replacement from them, so after 3 weeks of waiting (yes, which meant i spent only 1 day so far with this laptop). The fourth laptop arrived today. However, after working for a few hours, the laptop now refuses to power up at all.
I tried the power button trick, doesn't work. I tried pulling out the battery and power cable and pressed the reset button, doesn't work. I tried holding on to the power button for 5 minutes, pressing the reset button for 5 mins, doesn;t work.
Before I request for a fifth replacement laptop from Lenovo again, does anybody have any tips that could help me power up my TPY? I feel really helpless with this laptop right now. (Refunds doesn't happen in Singapore due to weak consumer protection laws).

Does the laptop respond when u press the power button? If you have problem I strongly suggest refund or replacement.

  • Thinkpad Yoga wakes up on its own after going to sleep blaming lid if wifi was enabled

Recently I've noticed that my Thinkpad Yoga (20CD00B1US) keeps waking up on its own.
    powercfg lastwake returns
    Wake History Count - 1
    Wake History [0]
    Wake Source Count - 1
    Wake Source [0]
    Type: Device
    Instance Path: ACPI\PNP0C0D\2&daba3ff&2
    Friendly Name:
    Description: ACPI Lid
    Manufacturer: (Standard system devices)
It happens either if lid was kept open and I used power button to put it to sleep or if I just close the lid. As soon as I do that I can see red LED goes on and off slowly so I know it is sleeping. However within 5 minutes or less, I see that red LED on top of "i" constantly lit.
    If I do powercfg -devicequery wake_armed , I get
    Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260
That is really odd. I have WPA2 (PSK) wireless network, and I'm confident other devices are not that smart to send any WOL packets (or whatever it is called for wireless). Also I have AMT and other stuff disabled in BIOS. Intel Smart Connect has Remote Wake set to OFF, Keep Data Fresh is OFF as well. The problem goes away if I turn flight mode (turn off wifi) before sending PC to sleep.
Does anybody else experience similar behavior and what can I do to prevent waking it up without flipping wifi switch? It is so strange that the lid is at blame while the problem is somehow related to wireless adapter.
P.S. Installed BIOS version is 1.05 (not the latest 1.06). All essential updates are installed.
    Solved!

You may wish to check the WNIC's properties in Device Manager to see if Allow this device to wake the computer under Power Management is selected. If so, deselect to see if your issue is resolved.

  • Unable to set asset tag number in bios 1.17 on Thinkpad Yoga S1

Hi I have a bunch of Thinkpad Yoga Machine Type 20CD002UUS and I've been trying to set the asset tag in the bios.  According to support I can use this tool: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
It was working great on a bunch of machines and then just stopped.  I realized the only difference was the bios version.
On the ones that WORKED the bios is 1.16, the ones that DO NOT WORK are bios 1.17.
Has anyone has this issue?  It doesn't say anything about the BIOS version being an issue, but it's realy annoying.
    Anyone have any pointers?
Machines are running Windows 8.1 64 bit

Good day and welcome to the community.
    Sorry you're having difficulties.
Looking at the v1.17 BIOS readme: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gquj12ww.txt
I see one item that may be related, stressing "may":  "(New) Improved the UEFI BIOS security feature."
    Wish I could offer more.

  • Thinkpad Yoga 14: How to know whether the model had separate trackpad buttons or not

So Lenovo has released the 2015 version of the Thinkpad Yoga 14. In the online manual it says that some models do and others don't have separate trackpad buttons. How do you know whether the specific models offers do or don't?
The images in Lenovo's online store show the Thinkpad Yoga 14 without the separate buttons...

    1. Delete all applications you got from the Mac App Store. Also delete any pirated copies of App Store products that you may have installed.
    2. Rebuild the Spotlight index as follows:
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Spotlight ▹ Privacy
The list of items excluded from Spotlight indexing is shown (it may be empty.) Click the plus (“+”) icon to add an item to the list. Select your volume (under DEVICES) and add it to the list. Then remove it from the list by selecting it and clicking the minus (“-“) icon.
Spotlight will rebuild the index. If you try to do a Spotlight search now from the magnifying-glass icon in the top right corner of the display, a pulsing dot will appear in the icon. When the dot disappears, the indexing is complete.
    3. Check that the Apple ID associated with your account in the Users & Groups preference pane is correct.
    4. Reinstall the applications you deleted by downloading them from the App Store.

  • No download for ThinkPad Yoga 12 dependency package 1.6.32.00?

Our ThinkPad Yoga 12 OEM boxes (also X1 Carbon Gen 3) have dependency package 1.6.32.00 pre-installed (i assume it is for Lenovo Support & Lenovo Companion Metro apps).
we are trying to rebuild enterprise loads, but in the support website, the only one that can be downloaded is a old version 1.6.28.0 (2014/08/14) for older models ThinkPad Yoga , Yoga 11e, X1C, X1C Gen 2 from http://support.lenovo.com/en/downloads/ds034404
It is not listed in model 20DK device matrix download page either (only settings dependency package for Lenovo Settings Metro app) http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
is it located in another place? or we have to call enterprise support to get it?

  • 2 week old Thinkpad Yoga Finish Wearing off!

I've had my ThinkPad Yoga for 2 weeks. It has gone in and out of my Lenovo Laptop back about 4 times. The front two corners of the lid show wear and I think the paint is almost gone. How is this possible? I do not use the "Tent" mode.
I tried calling NewEgg where I purchased it, they recommended I called Lenovo.
I expect this after a year of use, not two weeks.  What do I do?

  • Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

I am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

  • TVSU not showing latest drivers for Thinkpad Yoga or updating to the latest software

    I'm using Windows 8.1 x64 with a Thinkpad Yoga
I have TVSU (ThinkVantage Software Update) version 5.03.0010 which it updated itself to from a previous version.
However, on the support page for the Thinkpad Yoga:
    http://support.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
The latest version of TVSU is shown to be 5.06.0020
The current version of TVSU I am using is not updating my Intel graphics driver to the latest shown on the the website above (The latest version on the site is 10.18.10.3855 10/17/2014 whereas TVSU only updated mine to 10.18.10.3383 an older version which isn't available on the website).
I prefer to do everything through automated updates and I have run into errors manually updating. Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    Solved!

This is normal.  All drivers must go through quality certification before showing up on SU. Typically a 2 month delay from the version posted on the support page.
The absolute newest version would be found on www.intel.com. The support site has the absolute newest version.

  • Interest In ThinkPad Yoga 2

Hi, I am interesting in ThinkPad Yoga 2
    When it will release?
Base on ThinkPad Yoga 1, I want to make a suggestion.
    - 500GB or more HDD + at least 18 GB SSD {For the Intel Smart Response Technology} Option
    - 512 GB SSD Option

WQHD resolution is only available on the Displayport, the DVI-I on the OneLink Pro dock is a single link DVI port.

  • Thinkpad Yoga - screen wear when using the pen

I've been using penabled laptops for about 8 years now and bought a ThinkPad Yoga about 10 month ago.
The pen turned out to be disappointing - it's a lightweight job reminiscent of the pens they include with Samsung Note and like phablets rather tha a proper full size Wacom pen.
Just like other people I was also disappointed by the non removable plastic sheet protector on the screen in place of proper Gorilla glass screen cover.
But well, overall, apart from the awful touchpad, it was a decent laptop and I've been always happy with my previous Thinkpads, so I kept it.
Now, I'm using the pen a lot, incliding for scrolling. It turned out that the nib is not replaceable and that the plastic sheet protector on the screen is not hard enough to resist wear from the included pen - after 10 month of use it's pretty badly worn, especially in the scrolling area on the right.
I've never had this issue with my previous penabled tablets, even after 3-4 years of use, so I must say I'm rather disapponted at Lenovo selling this as a penabled laptop when the screen could not stand up to daily use with the included pen.
Does anyone else have this issue? Should I send it back to Lenovo to get the protective layer replaced while it's still under warranty?

I had this very problem with my Yoga S1 display screen. The anti-glare foil/protector became scratched by the digitizer pen. After reading a bunch of posts about removing this film layer, it looked easy enough, so I decided to JUST DO IT.  My steps:
I grabbed a sharp razor blade and started in the corner where the "Lenovo" logo is placed (bottom left). Very gently, I slid the blade edge under the film being careful not to dig, pry, or lift the blade any more than necessary -- just keep is as flat as possible and glide slowly about 1/2" or so making an equilateral triangle shape. The corner of the film will lift up losing its adherence and, in my case, I experienced zero damage.
I elected to continue sliding the blade along all four edges only 1/8" or so deep - just to make sure that the film was lifted across the entire perimeter. No problems whatsoever - smooth as silk.
I went back to the starting corner and slid the blade a little further (approx. an inch) so that there would be a triangular section large enough for my fingers to grab without cracking or breaking the film layer.
I began pulling from that corner slowly and gently making sure that my other hand was resting on the glass as a brace. Note that you should pull level with the screen not upward. I did not use a blow dryer and, as it turned out, it wasn't necessary.
When I got to the point  where one edge of the film was about at the center of the short width, I started pulling down that side until I reached the opposite corner.
I then continued pulling lengthwise working from edge to edge, then center, always keeping my other hand pressing lightly on the display screen glass (for leverage). If you want to avoid palm prints, wear a soft glove or put a microfiber cloth under your hand.
In no time at all, the entire sheet of film was removed in one piece - no cracks, breaks, or other problems.
There was no glue residue on the glass, so I just took a microfiber cloth and rubbed it to a gorgeous shine.
I fired up the laptop and was amazed at the extra clarity and color -- and NO SCRATCHES!
Is there additional glare? Yes, of course, but I just tilt the screen to avoid it as I do with all my other devices.
I started working with the digitizer pen and, thus far, I see no evidence that it will scratch the screen surface which, I have been advised, is gorilla glass.
This entire process took less than 15 minutes. It has taken me longer than that to write it up!
I would be happy to answer any questions if there are any. Good luck!
    Ken
