Deep Freeze for iPad?

I work at a children's hospital and we are looking for an iPad solution similar to Deep Freeze for PCs. We have used mobile PCs on clumsy carts with Deep Freeze on them so that personal data would be easily wiped. We are looking for something similar so we can replace the old Windows XP computers with iPads. The iPads we currently use have to be collected after each use, formatted, and restored from an image. This process is tedious and time-consuming.

Hello, much like iToaster replied, Apple Configurator could possibly be a solution for you to manage your devices. You do need to use either an iMac, MacBook Pro or other Mac machine to run it off of, but from your original post this shouldn't be an issue for you.
Using Apple Configurator you can actually create profiles, what Apple calls a group of settings. From here you can create restrictions and manage apps, lock down or unlock devices.
Configurator also allows for App management, which has been buggy in the past as well as binding devices to user AD accounts. If you are using a cart model it also simplifies restoring from a backup.
EDIT - if you are concerned about personal data not being wiped off of the device, Configurator also allows you to do mass "imaging" on these devices as opposed to having to do one by one through iTunes.

  • I have been having a lot of problems since downloading the IOS7 on my iPad whereby it freezes for several minutes.  Can anyone help me or is there something I should be doing right away when this happens?

I have been having lots of problems with my iPad 2 freezing since I downloaded the IOS7.  It freezes for several minutes each time this happens.  Is there something you can suggest that I do to eliminate this problem in the future?

First thing to try is a reset: Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • ITunes freezes for minutes at a time with iPad

This is making me crazy! I sync my iPhone('s) and iPods with this computer, and while iTunes may slow down for a few seconds while the iPhone or iPod mounts, it is responsive almost immediately. Update! Now my iPhone freezes iTunes too... this blows!
With the iPad however, iTunes freezes for up to 2 minute with the spinning beach ball and shows up as unresponsive (duh!) in activity monitor. It finally starts synching and while doing so occasionally becomes unresponsive, but the synching finally finishes succesfully... eventually. I have removed and reinstalled iTunes 9.1 according to apple support protocols, but no real change. I have bit rate convert enabled, but it happens regardless of whether or not music is being added or changed. Have repaired permissions, disconnected various other USB devices, but no help so far... Anybody?

Your MyWebSearch plug-in is the cause of many problems. Google for information and advice on how to get rid of it.
If that doesn't help, you should work your way through this(Safe Mode,Problematic extensions etc ) -
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting%20extensions%20and%20themes
Make sure your plug-ins such as Flash are up-to-date -

    Try disabling third party toolbars.

  • Now operating system for iPad won't let me post photos in Facebook. The sent and upgrade to fix bugs but it freezes in my settings and won't launch

bug in new operating system for iPad
fix stalls and freezes in Settings

You are not speaking to Apple here. We are all users like yourself. we cannot "fix" anything. Please describe which Settings area you are having problems with, what exactly happens and what, if any, error messages you receive.
one thing that cures ,any system errors is to reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • Pages for Ipad freezes when I try to delete a document. Documents start to flash on and off. Can't turn app off or even turn Ipad off.

Pages for Ipad freezes when I try to delete a document. Documents start to flash on and off. Can't turn app off, or turn Ipad off.

FWIW, think I found a solution to this problem elsewhere on this forum. Go to Settings / General / Accessibility on your iPad. Check to see if you have enabled "Bold Text" and if so turn that off. The iPad now restarts. In my case (and others) things are now back to normal with iWorks file management functions.
I can now rename files, delete them, and do other file management tasks in all iWorks apps on iPad without the apps freezing or freezing the iPad. Would like to give credit to the user who posted that but can't find it at the moment - he claimed that an Apple Tech suggested the fix when he called about it, so they know about it and hopefully will get fixed eventually.

  • TS1702 I own a jigsaw puzzle that was made for iPad.  It keeps freezing up on me?.

I own a jigsaw puzzle made for iPad and it keeps freezing up on me.  Why

Have you tried a Rese?t [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • My video keeps stopping and freezing. How can I fix this for ipad 4

Can anyone help. Do I need to download adobe flash for ipad 4. To fix the problem of my video freezing or stopping

If you're streaming video it's possible that your internet connection simply isn't fast enough to stream video. Have you tried to start a video, then pause it and wait a couple of minutes, then play and see if you can get enough of a head start to keep going?
You can't put flash on the iPad, flash and iDevices will never play together. You could look to see if your source has an app or look into various third party browsers that support flash.

  • Free deep freeze clone for linux?

I'd like to set up a lab of computers for people with learning disabilities, but I'd like to do so with deep freeze. Unfortunately, it costs money I don't have.
Is there some way to boot through a linux system, have it enforce certain directories' consistency with a master, and then continue booting through to Windows...?

I just want to know if there is a way to freeze your linux installation like the Deep Freeze program from Faronics.

Can be due to the last two? How can I fix it?

+1 for HDD.  Recommend you use smartmontools to understand if errors have been thrown.  Here is an example of errors on one of my machines:
    # smartctl --all /dev/sda
    Error 442 occurred at disk power-on lifetime: 24196 hours (1008 days + 4 hours)
When the command that caused the error occurred, the device was doing SMART Offline or Self-test.
After command completion occurred, registers were:
ER ST SC SN CL CH DH
    40 51 00 c3 8d 75 e1 Error: UNC at LBA = 0x01758dc3 = 24481219
Commands leading to the command that caused the error were:
CR FR SC SN CL CH DH DC Powered_Up_Time Command/Feature_Name
    c8 00 08 c0 8d 75 01 00 01:10:53.771 READ DMA

Smartctl can do short test and if completes without errors, try a long test.  Still no errors?  Good.  You can look around for bad sectors on each partition `e2fsck -cckx /dev/sdXX`
EDIT:  ...usually dmesg will show you when bad things are happening with your filesystem and bad blocks.  I recently had to recover a system that suffered this fate and the dmesg output was rich with these errors.
    % sudo e2fsck -cckv LABEL=archlive
    e2fsck 1.42.7 (21-Jan-2013)

  • IOS 7, The 5 finger pinch to home keeps freezing my iPad mini. Any solutions?

When I use the 5 finger pinch to home operation sometimes it will freeze the iPad screen and I have to use the two bottom restart to unfreeze it. Just wandering if this is an issue for anyone else and if Apple knows about this issue.

Thanks I did full restore as instructed. It was okay again and when I restore my backup it suffered the same problem. So I tried to go to settings> general> reset > reset all setting, it solved my problem. I don't know the root cause of the problem, but before I used assistive touch, emoji, Japanese keyboard and highlight to speak.

On changing volume or any other setting while watching video, Flashplayer freezes for about 5 seconds then continues as normal.

    Hi,
    You don't need iChat.
It should not be on there at all.
If the iCon in the DOCK looks like this then it is linked to iChat 4.
You should be able to Right/Control click that and get it to "Show in Finder"
    Messages looks like this  .
Launch Messages and set Bandwidth (Same place with the Preferences)

  • Ichat freezes for 5 seconds

While on ichat, video will freeze for 5 seconds and come back, then continues to freeze for 5 seconds intermittently during the video chat. Happens whenever I am on iChat, regardless of who I am chatting with. Party on the other end does not see any indication that this is happening.

  • TS1702 Purchased stray souls game but when I try playing it freezes my iPad 3 and I have to allow the battery to drain completely before I can use iPad againT

Stray souls freezing my iPad. What to do?

You don't have to let the battery drain. Quit the app if that happens again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps.
You should delete the app and reinstall it if it keeps freezing on you. You don't have to pay for it again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with.
