Deep Linking in flex2 sites

Hi,
I am looking for incorporating deep linking into my site
which is developed using Flex2.0 and AS3. I searched in google and
found SWFAddress2.0(an open source by Asual). I tried to go through
the samples and docs ,but i was not able to find a good sample code
demonstrating the SWFAddress2.0 properly.So can anyone please post
a good sample or link for SWFAddress2.0.

Hi Eddie,
It seems not possible to use deep linking. I think (just a guess) that when a session ID is missing, you're redirected to the home page (and the session ID is generated there).
You could try to generate an APEX Session ID and add that to the URL (when clicked). See How to create an Apex 3.1 a session context programmatically? on the how-to.
Whether this an intentional feature or not...I don't know. You should ask the powers that be (you know them I think).

Deep linking questions

I have pages in an app that i want to link to from a non apex site. I want the user to log in to apex app and then automatically go to different pages based on the original link to apex. I also want to pass apex login page a value through the link. The value will be stored in an application item named GS_VAR.
The following link works fine. GS_VAR has the value of 'PASS' in page 101.
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=F45196:101:::::GS_VAR:PASS
The following link does not pass the value to GS_VAR in page 101, however, when it gets to page 2 the value is set correctly.
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=F45196:2:::::GS_VAR:PASS
Only the link to the login page itself gets the value in GS_VAR set in page 101.
It seems that when I do deep linking to a page other than 101 the app does not set the application item GS_VAR until after you log in. The problem is i always need the the value of GS_VAR set in page 101 for login processing. Is there a workaround for this?

Rob,
You want a value set in session state before a session has been established. The session assignment for the request doesn't get settled until after authentication. When you pass the value directly in a request to page 101 (essentially a public page), it does set the value in the current session but that's no guarantee that the final session assigned will be the same one -- and if it isn't the value won't be accessible on the after-login page. What you might do is create a before-header process on page 101 to parse the URL (owa_util.get_cgi_env('QUERY_STRING')) and look for the item name/value. If you find it then you can set session state in that same process and hope the session ID doesn't change on you (which it usually doesn't).

It used to be that you could create multiple entry points to
a single SWF using a sitemap. For instance, you could define url
such as

and have that url return HTML content with the description of the
product for SE consumption, and then load the SWF that then
navigates to the particular product. However, after last weeks
announcement, googlebot will happily press every link button in the
app and read all the text for everything that's reachable from this
url. If you have properly designed this entry point, it will be
indexed using the text from your entire site! In fact, every entry
point will be indexed with exactly all the text of your entire
site. Does the crawler stop when the 'state' of the page is changed
(i.e. when the value for a bookmark changes to represent a state
change)?

This question is for both the uncredited (private) courses and the bigger accredited accounts.    I am a developer trying to learn how to help my area schools and also have some ideas for my own courses.    Obviously keeping within the iTunes U app would be preferred in most cases (to the learning experience) since they can take notes and see them within the app itself.
If the reply comes from a non-apple employee please let me know (or better yet, link to) where that is clarified.   I would hate to develop something just to later find out it is against the apple iTunes U agreement.

And, to be even more fair, I have to tell you that I get that every single day. And it's getting worse (or better, depending on how you look at it).
I always try to let people know it's a long way until you get to a confortable point, a point where you can create something. And that's exactly what I am trying to do, or at least asking how/if I should do it. And then I let them know where to start. That's what I want.

IR (interactive report) Rows found: 1 + No data found on deep linking

I am using a deep linking to a page with interactive report on it with following URL: http://...../f?p=my_app_id:target_page::::target_page:param1, param2:param1_value, param2_value
After login, I arrive on the page wit "No data found" message in the report region.
Clicking on "Session" link, I see that app/page variables are set. Passing in debug mode, I see"Printing rows. Row window: 1-15. Rows found: 1" right before "No data found" message.
If I use the select with values, I get several lines of result.
has anyone fell on this problem and solved it?

OK, solved :o)))
Inside the package function returning URL to call, I insert a row into the table to query and I return its sequence number. The function is launched by an application outside APEX.
So, if I don't make commit immediately before returning URL, APEX sees nothing.
I have added a commit before returning from the function and now everything is OK.

File not found when adding a link to another site collection on the navigation page

When I am adding a link to another site collection in the navigation page, I got the following error. Is there any limitation for the navigation setting? why can't we add a link to another site collection in the navigation page?

When I am NOT private browsing Firefox will not allow me to delete or change the website address in the location bar. My only remedy is to open a new window and search in google then click the link to that site through google. How can I resolve this?

When I swap to private browsing firefox allows me to anter the website address directly into the location bar - but this is a slow [prcess to swap back and forth - also by dint of using private browsing I loose my website information.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

How can I properly embed deep links that contain http: twice

Hi,
We have an online bookstore where we need to embed deep links to a booktopia page. I have tested the links given to us by the affiliate program (DGM performace) and they work perfectly but when I embed them into muse and hit publish they give me a server not found page.

I have established that this seems to be an error in the way muse is interpretting the link (or maybe business catalyst) as the link I paste into muse is:

You can't have two http in a URL. Why do you have two? Try taking one out.

Setting the Link Group Name in Deep Link based on the value of a column

Using Jdeveloper 11g, Jheadstart 11g
Is it possible to override the link group name in deep linking. For example can I conditionally set that field based on the value of the item.

Here is what I am trying to do:
I have a table with one visible column that has the following entries:
1. Create
2. Modify
3. Verify
4. Approve
5. View
If the user clicks on row 1 (Create) then the link group name should be "CreateEmployees" to create new employees
If the user clicks on row 3 (Verify) then the link group name should be "MaintainEmployees" for verification and so on.
(This is role based and each role will have access to one or more of the rows in the tabler)
It basically mimics a work-flow type of scenario.
I tried to modify the template and looked at the line:
action="$JHS.facesConfigGenerator.addItemGroupLinkTaskFlowCall((${JHS.Current.item})}" but got stuck there.
Is there a way to change "JSH.current.item" in the template to read the group link name from another column say by using #if statements.
One way I also tried was to introduce a column for each action such as CreateAction, VerifyAction etc which kind of agrees with your suggestion but the drawback is the need to modify the table if another task is required.

How to link the main site menu to an anchor on a subpage?

How to link the main site menu (masterpage) to an anchor possition on a subpage? Is that possible. I would like the the contact menu to link to specific anchors location contact FAQ hours. The way I do it now. I have to create seperate html pages, I would rather do it on one page. Thanks

Hello,
To link a website Menu to anchors on any page in the website, you need to create a manual menu using the Menu Widget. You can change Menu to a manual Menu by clicking on the white arrow in Blue Circle which comes up at the top right of the Menu (Menu properties) and select the Menu type as Manual. Please have a look at the screenshot below :
Now you can add change/add the text there and when you select the text/menu item then from the Hyperlink drpdown at the top in the toolbar, you can select the name of the anchor on any page of your website.
Anchors are listed in Hyperlink dropdown in this format - Page Name:Anchor Name.

Deep Link (FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL) Not Working in APEX 4.1

Hi all,
We recently migrate from APEX 3.2 to 4.1. The deep link (FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL) does not work.
We have two applications, say 100 and 200. Application 100 is the central login application. Application 200 refers to application 100 for authentication. Both applications share the same cookie name.
When accessing via http://..../f?p=200:1, the request is redirected to application 100 login page. This is the expected behavior. However, after login, the APEX doesn't take us back to 200:1. It goes to the app 100 home page.
Do any of you have the same issue?

In the meantime, the solution above seems to work just fine when the deep link includes just a App ID, APP PAGE ID, even a clear cache set of pages.
What would be the best method for also putting into the Login Link Item Values that are passed from deep link as I don't think they get set from the URL.
In your example, if the link also contained item name/value combinations I don't think the following will work.
Original URL : f?p=300:3::::::P3_ITEM1,P3_ITEM2:123,ABC
and the Login URL is:
f?p=970:101:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.::FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL:/f?p=&APP_ID.|&APP_PAGE_ID.||NO||P3_ITEM1,P3_ITEM2|&P3_ITEM1.,&P3_ITEM2./
Final URL: f?p=970:101:<session#>.::NO::FSP_AFTER_LOGIN_URL:/f?p=300|3||NO||P3_ITEM1,P3_ITEM2|, < No Values here>
as P3_ITEM1 and P3_ITEM2 don't get set to pass them along to the authentication application.
Any thoughts?

How do I link an iWeb site to a Yahoo store?

I designed an iWeb site for a friend, she is hosted at Yahoo Small Business. She also wanted to use Yahoo ecommerce does anyone know how to link an iWeb site to a Yahoo store? Yahoo uses store tags which they tell me can't be used in iWeb I was hoping to just link the ecommerce store I created in Yahoo to a store link in iWeb like a separate page. But I don't know how or if that will work. Any help would be appreciated.

LOL, you are absolutely correct I am moaning and groaning and you are correct about the tech suport the reason I am so frustrated.
The website is www.papeteriecollections.com (iWeb)
The Yahoo store is store.papeteriecollections.com
The yahoo store is set up to the point of store tags. I was able to link the store to the site itself but not the items in the store to the items in the website. That's where the tags come in. From yahoo I copied their code from the item and then pasted it into iWeb. The link worked from iWeb back to the yahoo store, but not after publishing it. So then I tried the (html snippet) in iWeb and pasted the store tag code in there at the bottom of one of the items in my site, and order button appeared. (good thing) but it didn't work either. please see below:

Advantages and protocol on listing a page of links to other sites

Hi, Once again, I have questions about my site www.freemodelguild.com. the question is more a general question for experienced web designers not about Muse specifically.
Most of the art groups in our area have a page that lists all the other art groups in the area, and so this organization is suggesting we do the same thing. I know having other links on a site can help with our search engine optimization, and we are trying to drive traffic to our site, so I think it's a good idea. However, should I just copy a list of all the other arts organizations? Should I write to their webmasters and ask them to link to us? Should I write and ask for permission to link to them? I just don't know what the protocol is.
Again this is such a non-web savvy group, they know they want a website, but have no idea what should and could be done so I've had wing this thing. I'm a print designer and, of course, things are done a little differently with print.
I appreciate all the feedback I get from this forum.

Generally you would have no problem adding links to other sites without asking. No website owner will tell you you can't as the more links they have coming to their site the better. I have always had mixed feelings on that type of thing. One thing to remember is the more external links you have the more work it is to make sure they all work. Dead links make your site look bad as well as bad for search engines so you would have to constantly be checking that the sites are still operational or the link hasn't changed.
So over the years I personally have found it better to just supply a small handful of links (maybe no more than 5) that I think will benifit my site visitors directly. Almost always it is a very well established long standing site so I know it is worthwhile/relevant and most likely not to dissapear.
Remember that when you do link to an external site to set the target to open in a new browser window. Also keep in mind that the more external links you have the more you are pushing your visitor to somewhere else.

Image Links To Other Sites

I have designed a website in DW CS3 and i wanted to make some
of my images link to other external sites......however when write
the link address in and upload the info then try the link it always
comes back with a blank web page with - cannot find URL - on
it...... any ideas, its really annoying me now. i'm not writing in

As tweaked suggests, the links to external sites should look
like this -

Links from My Sites (Follow) / Follow Documents doesn't work.

Hello All,
We have build a sharepoint env and are now extending the site to the extranet users. For the main site and the My sites we have extended the zone. We have checked the AAM and all settings are correct.
We have 2 Web applications:
Default Web Application : Hosts the SP site that we build on port 8000 (SPSRV:8000)
My Sites Web Application : Hosts the My Sites host on port 8001 (SPSRV:8001)
We have extended the 2 sites to and let SP create a IIS Site.
Default Web Application on port 80 with intranet.domain.com as binding.
My Sites Web Application on port 80 with my.domain.com as binding.
Everything is working fine except if the user clicks on follow the real servername and port (SPSRV:8000) appears in the ("following Sites") link.
Is there somebody who knows what we did wrong ?
Some links in My Site is correct some not.
