Default addresses

I have a bad feeling what I want can't be done, but thought I'd check an make sure.
I have several addresses I send mail from including some alias addresses for my @me.com account.
I use these different addresses to send things to different people like family, friends, business (and I really don't want my real me.com address going out since I never want it to get spam - aliases I can change easier!
The problem is with the options of what to set as the default address. Sooner or later, I write a new email and the default isn't going to be what I want so now that person has two (or more) addresses for me!
The only solution I can see would be if there was an option to NOT have a default address. This would force me to choose it manually for any new mail (replies to messages would, of course, keep the same address) since, trying to send it with no address would bring up a warning to fill it in.
Is there any way to do this? Or is there some other mail client I can use (though I would rather just keep the Apple program if possible) that does this?

Although I am not that familar with Mac Mail in most mail programs you can override the Return address, reply to, to something other then the address it was sent from. Not sure it that will help you but it is an option.
I have 6 different email addresses so when I am composing a new email it defaults to what the program and I have selected as the default address for mail to be sent from. All I have to do is select, from a drop down, one of my other addresses for that particular email to be sent from.
I personally don't use the otion I wrote about above as I don't need that feature but other find it very handy.

ESS Who is Who default address

Dear Guru's
For our customer we are looking for an option to view a default address subtype in the output from Who is Who. I have two questions:
1. We use our own infoset with infotype 0006 for addresses. Our customer however uses multiple subtypes in infotype 0006. They want to show a certain subtype default in the output results without selecting this subtype using the advanced search option.
Is this possbile?
2.Also using our own infoset. The outputresults in the Iview don't seem to match with the records in te backend. For example:
infotype 0006 consist two records:
record 1:
P0006-BEGDA= 01.01.2011
P0006 - ENDDA = 31.12.9999
P0006-ANSSA = 1 Permanent residence
P0006-STRAS = x

P0006-ORT01 = y (record 2)
Is this a problem with FM BAPI_EMPLOYEE_GETDATA ?

have you made your custom infoset and a query and select those fields which you need to be shown?
Note that
We can only restrict with the query which is based on the infoset.
In the case of who is who, the query is designed based on selection of
selection fields, output fields & output field list.
We can create infoset query based on subtype field of IT 6 but we cannot
restrict it to subtype.
I suggest that you use BAPI method for creating search for Who's Who .
You may need to write your own BAPI.

Can't use my default address

to send email on my iphone 4s, it goes to outbox. I have to use another email adress. How can I use my default address?

Do you mean your default email account? You didn't set up the SMPT (outgoing) server correctly. Since you didn't tell us what type of email account or the provider, no way to give you specific advice.

Default address book

How can I make address book of my gmail account as default?
Secondly if I want to add email address of any downloaded emails or incoming emails then by default they add it to my default address book of my gmail account.

You can't change the default address book, but if you use the Contacts sidebar (F9 in a Write window), you can select which address book appears when the sidebar is visible.
When you click the yellow start next to a sender's address in the Message Header to add it to an address book, the first click stores it in Personal Address Book, but if you click the star again, it's possible to select the address book from the drop-down list.

ICloud destroys default address book.

Using iCloud for Outlook 2010 on Multiple W7Pro PC's and also have multiple MACs using Lion. Outlook sync on the PC destroys all entries to the Default Address Book and writes them to the iCloud Address Book making all tasks and Calendar entries not visible on the Outlook Home page. The problem is that the Default Address Book is still there and empty and many addins that use Outlook want to see addresses in the Default Address Book. New contacts end up in the Default Address Book and then get synced to iCloud. However, changes to the iCloud calendar in Outlook only sync to iCal on other Apple machines, not to other PC's with iCloud and Outlook sync turned on.
There are lots of us loyal Apple enthusiasts who still have to live in a PC World at the office. Apple doesn't have any help on this subject and has just thumbed their nose at customers like us. They sure should pop up a warning on the perils of Outlook sync.
Any help is appreciated.

That is standard Outlook behaviour with subscription accounts, such as iCloud. There is no workaround unless you dump Outlook, or iCloud. I would dump Outlook, it's awful unless you have an Exchange account.

How to move old address book (XP) into new computer (8.1) as the existing default address book.

I have exported the address book in LDIF format and have also found the abook.mab file in my old XP computer. My new W8.1 address book is totally empty. I don't know where to find the Profile folder on W8.1 and when I import the LDIF it creates a new address book folder which I don't want. I just want everything in the default address book.

Open the newly created address book. Click on one contact to select it. Hit control+a to select them all. Drag and drop them on the personal Address Book folder to move them there.

SRM , HR replication and default address

Any way to change the default address on icloud?

I have an old yahoo account I didn't ever log into so I lost access to it. I can't seem to change my icloud default address without verifying the email--which, in circular fashion, can't be verified because I lost access to it.
To preface this--I have tried to recover the yahoo account, but it won't let me retrieve password because it says the account isn't known, so asks "are you trying to register this address?" but, when I try to do that, it tells me the ID is taken. Yahoo is to blame, really for this circular craziness.
So, I'm trying to use my more often-used gmail account (which I do have access to)
Every time i try to set up my icloud, it wants to verify my old yahoo address.

I've changed the address everhwere in my phone and ipad...it's still defaulting to the old yahoo account address...can anyone help me? Where do i tell it to see my new email address so I can set up my icloud?

If you want to change your email address, then you can change your Apple ID from your old address to your new address by following the steps in this article. (You should receive a verification email in your inbox of your new email address.)
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs cannot be renamed.

Airport Express dmz (Default address) not working same with port forwarding

My configuration is as follows: MacBook Pro w/10.5.4 Server and standard, Comcast HighSpeed cable, Airport Express.
With the laptop connected directly, all services work fine. Specifically Web serving, Quicktime streaming server.
With Airport connected, all browsing works. Forwarding to web server port 80 works.
Forwarding to QTSS doesn't work.
Setting the default address (DMZ) doesn't solve problem.
Ideas?

I used the Expess presets. Ports 554 and 7070. I even tried adding UDP ports from the setup manual.
My real issue is that the DMZ should direct all traffic to the server and it doesn't seem to be working.

To get GAL of non default address book from multiple accounts in outlook

I have two domain accounts configured in my outlook, for example [email protected] and [email protected]
There are 2 address books (Please refer to the picture attached). I want to show user to SelectNameDialog by adding the recipients from non-default account's address book. But it adds the names to the selectnamedialog from the default address book and displays.

Changing the default address for Iphone Notes?

I don't why this is but the e-mail address is my gmail account. When it should be to one of my Outlook addresses. Which is why my notes to to Gmail notes, I suppose.
No matter how hard I search, I can find no way of changing the default address from my gmail to my Outlook addresses.
Can someone advise, please?

Accessing 'Library' is a little like 'killing a cat' in that there are many ways to achieve a result.
It should be noted the expression is colloquial, I do not go around "killing' anything.
Those who need frequent access to the Library may consider accessing the Library and having done so drag the Folder to Finder's Side Bar.
In future they are then one click away from direct access to their Library.
Apple seem to be insensitive to the results of their confusing naming, especially when access may be infrequent?
Calling one of the Libraries e.g., LibraryX may be sufficient to indicate to most users that it is somewhere they should not be venturing?
Setting a up a 'second' [in name at least] App Store frankly beggars belief.
It may well be the policy to be working toward a device wide OS with everything ultimately available from iTunes? In the interim it would be useful to differentiate between Mac Applications and iOS Apps without folk having to add their own expression in the interests of clarity.
Sorry to wander off topic but, IMO, this is another example of flawed thinking.

Iphone - mail - default address

I have set (ticked) my mail default address to what I want people to reply to...
However when I send an email from phone it default to another address...

This is what it reads under the Default Email Account selection.
Messages created outside of Mail will be sent from the default account.
If you are accessing more than one email account with the iPhone's Mail app, the account or the account's mailbox that is selected at the time when selecting new email to compose a new message, that email account will be the default account selected for the message to be sent from. You can change this to another account from the email before the email is sent.
This setting has nothing to do with the email address you want recipients to reply to.

Hi Birenc,
the default Global Address List can be modified during the conversion from Exchange 2003. You won't be able to do it after that hence the error message.
1- Run Get-GlobalAdressList | fl and check the IsDefaultGlobalAddressList value. I believe in your case this would be False.
2- To change this you would need to change the msExchRecipientFilterFlags attribute. you can do this via ADSIEDIT. Open ADSIEDIT connect to the Configuration container. Find the Default Global Address List and change the above attribute value from 3 to
0 and apply the changes. Then change it back to 3 and apply changes.
3- Run GlobalAdressList | fl again and the IsDefaultGlobalAddressList value should now be true.
This should fix your issue.

How do I change the default address that macmail emails to?

I set up a group to mass email and several of there contacts in the group have multiple email addresses. How does macmail decide which address to send to and how can I change that?

I do not know of a way to change the default but after you click the star beside the address to add it to the address book, click the star a second time to open the edit dialog box. There is a drop down list of your address books to make the change there.
