  • GDM default background image

    Is there an easy way to change the (green) default background image (wallpaper) that I get whenever I want to switch user  ? I am not sure I understand where the settings is. In GDM for sure but where ?
    I would be ready to use another login manager if that makes it easier. I have tried Slime but I would rather keep the ability to ... graphically switch user (I am currently using Gnome). KDM needs kbase which looks a rather huge download just for that purpose.
    Thanks for your help !

    As far as I know it's supposed to be your currently set gnome background but it's bugged and just uses the default gnome wallpaper from /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome
    Just rename the background-default file and put whatever image you want there, or symlink it. I myself, just put an all black image

  • My iPhone4 struck while making call i cant see any icons??

    I had updated my phone to 4.3.5 after that,some times  My phone is going un responsive while making calls and taking calls. Please let me know the solution

    Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose any data doing a reset.

    While making call if I am using loudspeaker mode, I am not audible to other end

    Hi Vinzgenius,
    From you are describing, it sounds like an issue with the microphone. Take a look at the article below to troubleshoot the issue further. Check to make sure that you do not have any Bluetooth devices connected as well as restarting your iPhone.

  • Random Default Background Image on startup

    OK so I know how to change the default image on Leopard startup and am aware thats not a supported thing to do....however as someone who takes a lot of photos I thought it would be nice to be able to have a random image be show from a particular folder on startup.
    Anyone know if this is possible to do with an AppleScript or another method?
    Thanks

    Hello Chet,
    Take a look at this posting that gives instructions on how to set/change a back ground image.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/44191/how-modifychange-background-image-ip-phone-new
    One gotcha that I have ran into before, is the List.xml file needs to be modified in WORD.
    To change the background image on a phone from the call manager, you will need to:
    ->uncheck the option "enable end user to access phone background", under -> Device -> Device settings -> common phone profile.  However, when we made this change, all phones restarted and all calls were dropped!!!!!
    ->Enter background image name in the "background image field" toward the bottom of the phone configuration page.  Only name of the image is needed, not the path.
    In earlier releases of callmanager you could not change the background image from the ccm.  The work around that I used was to use an app called Phonedesigner.
    Hope this helps,
    if so, please rate.

When it comes to making calls there is lot of noise background or a sort of amplifier sound and both the ends the audio is not clear. Did any one face this issue with new earphones with iPhone 5? if so, what is the solution for this? Can any one help me resolving this issue as I am the extensive user of iPhone 5 with new earphones? Thanks in advance.

  • Trouble while making calls

    Has anyone experienced while making a call that the iphone 3gs' screen goes black? This has already happened to me twice and i've only had the phone for 2 days. When it happens I can't even power the phone back on. I have to connect it to the charger to get the screen back. It has occurred a few other times when in the contact list also but the screen comes back up immediately.
    Is anyone else having issues with the contact list moving slowly when opened on the main screen? This is not a problem when I access it through my phone icon.

    The screen always goes black during a call. Like Tamara said, the proximity sensor switches it off to save battery.
    In comparison to the 2G, however, I got the impression that it a bit longer until the screen wakes up, or even sometimes hangs until it returns.
    I had the same black screen which wouldn't turn on for a couple of seconds after using voice mail.

  • Running function in background - even while previous call to this function is running

    Hi everyone. I have a WPF C# .Net 4.5.2 app, which receives GPS data from tracking devices out in the field via TCP and plots them on a map (using the WPF Bing Maps control). One of the things I do when receiving data from a tracker is to get the street
    address at the tracker's coordinates by using Bing's reverse geocoding facility. This can take a few seconds, and because I don't want it to slow down everything, I want to run this function in the background (i.e. in a separate thread). So I thought about
    using .Net 4.5's Async/Await feature. This is how it looks:
    private async void GetStreetAddress(int trackerId, double lat, double lng)
    string streetAddress = await bingMap.ReverseGeocodeAsync(lat, lng);
    dal.UpdateTracerAddress(trackerId, streetAddress);
    So basically it calls Bing Map's reverse geocoding function, gets a street address, and updates this tracker's address in the database (MySQL database). Just to complete the picture, the ReverseGeocodeAsync shell looks like this:
    public async Task<string> ReverseGeocodeAsync(double lat, double lng)
    string streetAddress = "";
    //Reverse Geocoding code...
    return streetAddress;
    My question is the following: What happens if the GetAddress() function is called again while it is still running? So, normally the app receives TCP data from one of the trackers, and then calls the GetAddress() function to get the street address.
    Now, while that function is running in the background, the app receives another packet of TCP data and again calls that same GetAddress function before the previous instance has finished. Will it just create another instance of that function on the stack?
    Thanks

    If your code is definitely working as expected and is executing ReverseGeocodeAsync on a different thread then you can do that any number of times and they will all just run.
    It is quite easy to write async await and find the flippin thing runs synchronously though.
    I recommend you put a break point in that method
    public async Task<string> ReverseGeocodeAsync(double lat, double lng)
    string streetAddress = ""; // Break here
    Spin it up and give it a twirl.
    When you hit it that break point, open up the Threads window and make 100% certain what thread your break point is on.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/w15yf86f.aspx
    I've seen code which looks like it'll run asynchronously just fine which turns out to be running synchronously.
    It's dead easy to go wrong.
    Hope that helps.

  • Is it possible Bridge ruins images while making thumbnails?

    This morning I was reorganizing images.
    I use Bridge to check the files.
    I noticed when Bridge was making CR2 thumbnails several of them appeared stripped of some if not most of the pixels.
    I opened one image in Camera raw and became afraid the image was actually now ruined.
    In Canon Digital Professional, the thumbnail looks fine, but in Digital Pro Preview they also are ruined.
    I went to my external backup to find the same images were ruined!
    The thumbnails looked great as Bridge was regenerating them, but as soon as it was finished the images was stripped.
    It seems logical the images were ruined when I downloaded them from the camera, otherwise they would be different in both files.
    I usually download twice rather than copy one to the backup, but I do not remember now.
    I am sure I have looked at these May 2014 images many times and they were fine!
    Help! I am afraid to use Bridge to help with 6 years of photos!

  • E7 always restart while making call with Bluetooth...

    Has anybody experienced a problem that you can not make calls when qwerty keyboard is in use and Bluetooth to headset is activated because phone makes every time restart while setting up the voice call. It just first indicates that "disconnecting Bluetooth" and soon after that  restarts. And when you make it again and again it does the same.
    Hopefully this is going to be corrected in next E7 SW release.

    No, contrary to this I can pick up the phone, close the keyboard and no interruption takes place. However, I purchased my phone only two weeks ago and it might have the new SW already.

  • Issue while making calls

    Hi Team,
    I am new to the community.I am using iPhone 5S for past 6 months and from India.
    Issue is depending upon the signal the network will be changing from 3G to LTE in my phone.
    While this is happening I am unable to make calls or receive calls.
    Only When i try for 6 to 10 times I am able to call.
    I tried all possible troubleshooting steps as suggested by Apple support,still no luck.
    I am still using IOS 7.Will an upgrade help me ??
    Please advise..

    Hi ananthj,
    Welcome to the forum!
    To isolate the case, you can try a different SIM card on your device. This is to check if you will encounter the same behavior. If it's still the same you can reset the phone to the factory setting. Just don't forget to back up your files first. Check the link below for the step-by-step procedure:

  • Hi-pitched screeching sound while making calls

    While using my iphone 5, OTHER PEOPLE report hearing a high-piched screeching sound at various times during the conversation. I don't hear anything unusual (no noise)!!. Has anyone else had this problem? Known fixes? I've had this phone for 1.5 years -- problem only recently, but getting more frequent.

    iphone 5 7.1.2, Verizon
    I am having this issue since 4 months. I have received multiple devices as replacement as my phone was still under warranty. Nothing seems to solve this.
    I was being suggested below , I tried them all
    1.  Mark calls with ###, once I marked them they came up with an answer there is nothing wrong with the network , change the phone
    2. Next phone had same issues, answer was its due to incoming calls from T mobile.
        When I showed them even AT&T people heard it, they suggested to change the phone
    3. Next phone had same issues, they suggested me not to use bluetooth and talk from an area with full bars (now dots). I receive at least 3 dots if not 4 or 5 at my home.
    4. Next phone, they suggested to not restore the back up but setup Iphone as new. I did and only installed 1 app. Still people on other side had screeching sound, this time it was Sprint and T mobile both.
    Funny part when I called apple support and verizon for the first time, even they could hear that sound.
    No one seems to know why this is happening. I may buy a basic clamshell phone, insert my SIM card in that and use it for a few days to deduce if its device related or carrier. Again I am no expert.
