Default behavior of select on the iPad?

When using the <select> tag, should the menu appear above the form control? Is this a default behavior?

I'm really puzzled by your "so what" response to this post. I've bought two of these iPads (which I love, by the way) and both of them had the same "scratched" home screen, and both times my initial reaction was the same: the glass is scratched or the LED screen is defective somehow. From a simple marketing/customer relations point of view, Apple is nuts to use a home screen that makes you think the device is defective. It obviously is a non-issue in practical terms, because all you have to do is change the wallpaper, but for a first-time buyer you don't immediately KNOW that (a) there is not really a problem because it is a "time-lapsed photo of stars" and (b) the solution is to change the wallpaper. You have anxious moments while you screw around and think that you have to go back to the store to return it. Who in the world wants that to be the customer's initial response to a "magical" device? The poster is simply saying that this is a really bad judgment call by Apple, which it is absolutely is. Maybe it is like the the butterfly test -- some see scratches, some see stars -- but it never occurred to me that this was the way the photo was supposed to look.

I had the same problem. But I was able to fix it with a little luck.
If you have a backup of your iPad that is functional and has value, hold on to it.
First, restore/wipe your iPad so it is empty execpt for the stock software.
Begin to restore your iPad from the backup.
As it is working, click on the "Manage My Own Music" selection on the iPad sync window. Will ask if you are sure, say yes.
Un-check and Re-Check the top box in the music section of the sync pages.
Click Sync at the bottom and let it work.

Bad Idea: Making default behavior of "built in mouse wheel support" set to on key focus

This is just a little rant....
I love new features in Labview, but setting them to be on automatically when they can generate unexpect behaviour is really a bad idea. We recently moved from 2012 to 2013. Suddenly, I have users saying "values are changing and I don't know why". Turns out they were changing a value in a numeric, then attempting to scroll away. Why on earth would NI make this the default behavior??? Luckly for us the value change wasn't too bad but I could think of a few places that a sudden, unplanned change in a numeric could have ruined an experiment.
Off to do alot of work to undo this....

People just love to tell you how you should be doing something, and not focusing on the topic of the thread. If everyone is going to get stuck on the "UI's should not have scroll bars" soap box, see the attached screen shot. This problem arose from a settings pop-up dialog. I could have used tabs, but in this case it makes more sense for the users to move top to bottom in a linear fashion through the process they are setting up.
My point in all this is why would NI make this the default behavior? I like the feature, but it should have been something that a designer has to actively turn on.

Synching Safari bookmarks on the iPad

Hi, I am not sure how to do this, hence my post here. I would like to have safari's bookmarks to be the same on my mac and on my ipad. I have the bookmarks option on icloud selected but the ipad still has its own set of bookmarks. Is there a way to force update it?

There is really no setting to change on the iPad. Have you tied another browser on the iPad? IThe background shows on my iPad with the Opera Mini (free) browser.

What should the"default behavior" be for WiFi network connections?

I Have been able to at least temporarily fix the plethora of problems encountered after downloading Mountain Lion to my 2009 17" MBP just ten days ago. Thanks to the time and effort of so many posters that are much more savvy than me, I successfully executed the steps suggested in many of the posts and with good results. It surely beats running down to the Apple store and being told that I am the only one with a problem.
Okay, I've realized that I don't really know what the default behavior of the WiFi network connection should be?
Specifically:
Should the Wi-Fi drop down in Network always be" looking for networks", even though I am obviously on my Network?
Should the Wi-Fi be connected at all times even when your computer is in sleep mode- or deep sleep mode? There have been so many problems with Wi-Fi dropping off,slow or hanging loads, etc.
I unchecked "ask to join networks, in Network preferences thinking it might stop looking for networks when it doesn't need to because I'm already on mine. I do see my neighbors (four neighbors) in the drop down in Network.
How do you get into Time Capsule's settings, to check speeds, especially ping? What should the ideal settings be?
How do you know if your DHCP license is renewed? I've heard that feature isn't working and may be the culprit to some of the Wi-Fi problems.
I'll look forward to your help in understanding more about this. I've been in the support area a lot lately, I've read plenty of definitions, and explanations of the different options to choose from in Apple's support area, but nowhere have I seen anything that explains what the default behavior should be or perform like.

Generally, you don't want to tweak the wifi settings. It pretty much takes care of itself. The caveat to that is, of course, if you're experiencing problems.
The 'looking for networks' behaviour only happens when you log in, wake the mac from sleep OR when you click on the wifi icon. You clicking on it tells the mac "I want to see what networks are available" - so it does a scan for you to check to see if any new networks have appeared since you last clicked on it (or woke/logged in). In short, if you don't want it to look for new networks, don't click on the icon!
Unchecking the 'ask to join networks' option only applies when your mac detects a new network (such as when it wakes) that you haven't already authorised; it'll ask you to confirm whether you want to join it or not. Otherwise, if the network is open it'll join automatically. You should keep this selected if you travel around with your Mac. It's a good idea to know what network you're on before you start plugging in passwords or typing other things into the mac.
There is a utility that you can use for ping and traceroute called 'Network Utility'. Click on the Spotlight icon in the top right of your screen and type "Network' and you should see it at the top of the list. Hit 'return' to open it.
DHCP licences are normally renewed automatically by your router every 24 hours. Again, there's no reason to be messing about with that unless you're experiencing problems.
If you're experiencing wifi dropout, let us know, and we'll make some suggestions, but if you're not, you're best leaving your mac to manage the background processes. It knows what it's doing!

Default hierarchy not getting selected in the GOTO report.

I am facing a weird problem in a jump query(GoTo query). I am giving an input for the main query. The input values are week and Organization(it is a hierarchy). I am executing the report and after that i am going into the jump query through the main query.
In the GoTo Query, when i right click on the Organization -> properties -> Chacteristics -> i could find that the hierarchy is not getting selected by default. I need to go and select from the dropdown manually.
If i execute the same GOTO report directly without going through main query, I am able to see the default hierarchy. I would like to see the same in my first case as well(i.e when i run the query through the Main Query).
Can somebody help me in achieving this.

@ is a default value as per ALV internal process. This is used in icons .
I think this is causing the confusion.
Check in the fieldcat if there is any adjsutment to be made to handle this.

Drop down menus on iPad, the first selection in the drop down will not load as a selection when using safari, what can I do? I use this for my mobile, on-site auto repair business and not being able to call up repair and diagnostic info and reference for some cars is troublesome for sure. It works fine on the computer and I have installed a remote desktop app as a workaround but it is unreliable because the desktop is not business dedicated and may be off or in use at the time. So is there a known fix for this?
Let me paint a more descriptive picture, visualize 4 drop down selection menus, first one is for year, next one is for make, 3rd one is model and the last one is for engine size/type. If I wanted to choose a 2012 vehicle it wont work because it is the top selection on the list. This can be forced by selecting any other year and then coming back to 2012. Ok fine, but then let's say I wanted to choose Acura as the make, well it won't take it because again it's the top selection. Again you work around it be selecting any other make and coming back to Acura. Ok now select the model, same trend follows. But now since most Acura vehicles come with dedicated engines and no optional engines I have only 1 selection in that final drop down menu and it will not take my selection and therefore never let me proceed to the info I need.
This is also true when ordering parts from my wholesaler's website, they use drop downs and I can only get to that last drop down and then I'm stuck. This is blindingly frustrating, what options do I have. I'm not opposed to any avenue at this point.

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men

Each time I click the "Open a New Tab" button, how do I make FF open to my homepage and why isn't this default behavior?

Firefox does not default to your homepage when you manually open a new tab. It should do so.
Is there a way to make FF do this? Is it an addon? If so, should this not be default behavior and just be incorporated into the browser?

Tap on the edit button at the top right of the email list. This will let you select the emails to delete, once all are selected, tap on the bottom right button that says delete to delete them all at once.

How Can I Get The iPad To Auto-Play My Movie When Selected?

When selecting a movie from the shared tab on my iPad it shows my the splash screen with the cover art on the right and on the left I have a movie summary along with cast. The top of the left pane it has the chapters or the play button. When I select the play button I would like it to start playing the movie. What it does is the screen goes black and thats it.
If I tap the black screen I get the video controller pop up and then I have to select the play button again to get the movie to play.
I was pretty sure that before the movie would play after selecting play from the initial movie splash screen.

If you do not want to use passcodes, why don't you just go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock and delete the passcode and set the lock to OFF. That will eliminate the problems all together.

It is a brick! But I did somehow get into the iPhoto section and was able to find the Former owner that owned the iPad and was able to contact him VIA FaceTime. on my iMac. He was of little help because he was not the original owner, but he bought the iPad as I did from a huge supplier and i was able to contact that supplier who refused to give out any information about the previous owner. I had the iPad hooked up to my somehowiMac via the USB cable and went through the setup procedure to no avail. Then after pressing the Home button several times it somehow went to the iPhotos that were on the iPad? There were 2 pictures of the owners email address. Personally, it is not Apple's responsibility to protect customers of their personal DATA. With such a high security application. Then of coarse it is a great idea. Then again it is the responsibility of the former owner to wipe and rest the iPad before reselling it. This being the case like those sold on eBay and elsewhere that are ID Locked should not be allowed to be sold. Personally the ID lock is much like a VIN number of a car. In most states one cannot sell a car without the VIN Numbers. Somewhat the same thing should be true of ID Locks

In the mainviewset.xml file, <ViewSet id="workViewSet"> area, add the View you want to appear as default as the first entry
