Default Black swatch in 4 colour mix-aaargh!

How do I get CS3 Illustrator to have the default BLACK swatch as just 100% black only and not a mix of cmyk?
Everytime I start a new project it defaults to wrong black and has caught me out a few times. Is there a way to have Illustrator startup with the correct black swatch?

No I am not selecting the registration swatch. No, no scripts used to create a new doc. And either setup from CMYK or Print to create a new document has the default black swatch as a mix of cmyk and not pure 100k only. I am talking about the "Default" colour swatch called "black". Second from registration colour. When I create a new doc, and have the blank page I click on the "colour" pallette and click the stroke to bring it to the front (with the white fill) and it displays the colour as a black mixed in fractions of cmyk- completely useless! It has been a pain for us as text and borders etc needs to be set only in black and not a mix. Why has adobe done this is beyond me. Annoying to say the least. Perhaps its because we here use a international version and not one for the States?? Its the only straw we can clutch to.....and it happens on all 4 macs here! never on any previous versions of Illustrator either. We do not do any work in RGB so its not set in the wrong colour mode. I have been using Illustrator for at least 5 years so am no raw beginner.:) Thanks for your suggestions but they seemingly do not apply in this case. At wits end now, we are considering scrapping it and going back to earlier versions. aaargh, another "update" that makes things worse...

How can I restore the text selection highlight colour to the default black colour in indesign CC ?

Manish Shama, thanks for your speedy response. I was able to get into my MAC settings and change the background from the black to whatever color I like, so that helps (THANKS!). But the real issue is that the selected text does not turn white (even though that's what's specified in my MAC settings), it remains black. I really want to have the selection reverse out as it always has for years and years going all the way back to PageMaker Any ideas?

  • CHANGING DEFAULT CMYK SWATCHES TO RGB

I've been looking for a way to change the default CMYK swatch to RGB.  I've tried everything.  CMYK colors - even black ARE NOT ACCURATE.  Help?

you just need to change the profile when creating new document
CMYK is Accurate, when printing CMYK!
RGB is Accurate, when displaying in RGB!
    colour is a complex thing.

  • InDesign CS3 - Default Black color issue

Default Black color converted as Spot color in Indesign CS3.
I'm using default color "Black" in InDesign CS3. While creating PS from InDesign CS3 and convert it as PDF using Distiller 7 & 8, it would have changed as "Spot Color Black" instead of color "Black(CMYK)".
Open the swatch and duplicate the color "Black" and renamed as "C=0,M=0,Y=0,K=100". It would work properly. i.e. output PDF has CYMK black instead of Spot color.
We are unable to find/change globally because the Default color [Black] has both text and object.
We do not have any problem with this default black color in Indesign CS2.
It would be better if you provide a solid solution for this issue immediately. I need to send a test file to the printer on tomorrow (05/27/09).
I have attached Testing.pdf and screenshot for your reference.
Picture 1 shows the Default Black color converted as Spot color.
Picture 2 shows duplicate black color created from Default [Black] color and we don't find any issue.
    Thanks
    Johnson

First, this is a user forum, so all you'll get here is advice, not a "solid solution" from Adobe.
Second, the current versions of InDesign and Acrobat are 6 and 9, respectively, and there will never be any new patches issued for earlier versions. Adobe does not divert effort away from current development to patch old software.
This has been discussed here in the past few months. You should be able to find the thread if you search for keywords like spot black. For what it's worth, Acrobat 9 Pro's preflight does not detect a spot black in your sample PDF (though Pitstop might).
I'm curious why you feel the need to distill PDF rather than export (as I see you did with the file you posted)?

  • How to disable the option of "Overprint [Black] Swatch at 100%" in Indesign by Java Scripting

    Hi Guys,
We have a requirement where we have to disable the option of "Overprint [Black] Swatch at 100%" in Indesign. This option is available when we go to Indesign ---> Preferences----> Appearance of Black.
Also, if a user opens a file, in which the swatch is already enabled, then it should prompt him for disabling.
I am aware of doing it through AppleScripting, however I would be needing it on both mac as well as Windows Workstations and hence as such I require a JavaScript here.
I am novice to JavaScripting and any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks Everyone,
    Abhishek

    Thanks for your response!!
However, currently this action gets applied to only active documents.
Can we keep the status disabled after we close the indesign document. We need to have it disabled in the preferences panel.
Thanks again for your help !!
    Regards,
    Abhishek

  • How to disable the option of "Overprint [Black] Swatch at 100%" in Indesign by Apple Scripting

    Hi Friends,
I am new to Indesign Scripting by Apple Script. As a beginner, I am trying to do some basic scripting in Indesign by Apple Script.
My aim is to disable the option of "Overprint [Black] Swatch at 100%" in Indesign. This option is available when we go to Indesign ---> Preferences----> Appearance of Black.
Also, if a user opens a file, in which the swatch is already enabled, then it should prompt him for disabling.
I can make a display dialog in AppleScript. But, I am bit unsure as how can I go ahead and disable this option. I tried this below script:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS4"
tell every layout window to set overprint preview to false
    end tell
However, it is changing the view option to overprint preview.
    Appreciate your help and suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5"
              tell the active document
set overprint black of document preferences to false
              end tell
    end tell

  • Why am I unable to delete the default track (which seems to act as the master, right?) after making a rough mix?  Is it possible to delete the default track after having rendered a mix?

Why am I unable to delete the default track (which seems to act as the master, right?) after making a rough mix?  Is it possible to delete the default track after having rendered a mix?  I did a rough mix and now cannot change the song as the tracks that were a part of the rough mix seem to remain in the song even though I mute the tracks for a new mix.  For instance, I played and recorded a different bass line.  Muted the original, but when trying to create the new mix I can hear the original bass line even though I have muted that track.  It seems to remain in the previous master (default) track.  Please send help.  Thank you.

Before answering your question, you have to make sure you understand the difference between the different track types in GarageBand.
Tracks, you record your music on
There are three types of those Tracks.
MIDI Tracks (aka Software Instrument Tracks)
Audio Tracks (aka Real Instrument Tracks)
Drummer Track (only one per Project)
    Global Tracks
These are the Tracks that can be shown/hidden at the top of the Tracks Area for specific purposes.
    Arrangement Track
    Movie Track
    Transposition Track
    Tempo Track
    Master Track
This Track can also be shown/hidden in the Tracks Area. Please note, you cannot delete that Track, only hide it, similar to the Global Tracks
Regarding the Tracks you record your music on,  you can delete any of those. It doesn't matter if you created them or there are part of a Template (maybe that  is what you refer to as the default track). Once you delete the last Track, the "New Track Window" will pop up to add a new track.
I will explain all that in much more detail in my manual "GarageBand X - How it Works".
    Hope that helps

  • How do you change a multi page document from the default black to another colour?

I have a multi page calendar chart that is black text and lines in InDesign. I need to print it as green on a copier not press. Is there a way to change the black to green without having to go through each text box and line separately?

I hope you are using paragraph styles. Change the color there and it will change everywhere you have used this style. If you have set up your styles correctly you need to change one styles and alll others will chage too.
Never use a character in InDesign without a Paragraph Style.

  • Printing via eprint only prints in black and white, not colour

If I have a connection to my printer via USB cable or my home wireless network I can print in colour without specifying it in the print job (I.e. it appears to be the default). However, if I send a document to my printer via email using hpeprint then my documents always print in black and white.
I have an hp laserjet pro 400 color m451nw.
Any help would be gratefully received coz this is driving me crazy!

No Problem!  I am glad to hear that ePrint is printing in the desired color option at this point.   I see you are now having an issue with color vs b&w on Cloud Print.  Are you meaning Google Cloud Print?  If so, are you printing using Google Cloud Print from a computer or from a mobile device?
If you are using a mobile device, then are you using the Google Cloud Print App?  What is the OS type of the device? (Apple iOS, Android, Windows mobile, etc)
I can provide you with the correct steps to change these settings, but need to know the method of which you are printing.
    Have a wonderful day,
    Jason

  • Setting default for Email Reply text colour

Hello, Can anyone tell me how to change the default colour for my signature and email replies from BLUE to BLACK?Currently, I only see the option to 'format' each individual email reply.  I don't know why the default colour for the text and the signature is BLUE but I would really like to change it to BLACK.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,interloper1969

Don't know how I overlooked this before but the following is the expected result
Composing a new email, black text
Reply or forward to a email, blue text
These cannot be changed so I'll share your feedback internally for future consideration
