Default catalog folder in Windows 7

I upgraded from Windows XP Professional to 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium during the holidays.  I used the easy transfer utility provided by Microsoft.  It saved my catalog just fine.  But My Documents isn't there anymore; it's just called Documents.  Is there a specific folder where I should put my catalog so that Lightroom won't create a new catalog?  Or, can I just put the catalog anywhere I want and double-click on it from that location?  I understand that I can put the catalog file wherever I want to.  But I don't want the new Lightroom installation to create another new catalog.  Just looking for suggestions.

Jim,
The default location of the catalog on Win7 would be "C:\Users\[your username]\Pictures\Lightroom\Lightroom 3 Catalog.lrcat". But you can also put your catalog (the *.lrcat file together with the Previews.lrdata folder) anywhere and just double-click it to open LR. If you have set your preferences accordingly, LR will open the last used catalog upon start from then on.

    Hi All:
My web server is IIS 6. Sometimes the temp crystal report objects could not dispose when I close IE. I have some codes to control the evnet(colse IE to dispose CR objects) but the result is not good. Could I change the default temp folder(C:\Windows\Temp)? Because I want to delete the temp files by schedule. If the temp folder in C:\Windows\Temp, there maybe have anohter .tmp files in this folder and I want to avoid to delete them. Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. But this is not my solution. I prefer to set the temp folder by a method or attribute to set the physical path, or to change the register. On the other way, Can I set the Environment Variables like %BOE_TEMP% for the default temp folder. Because there maybe some other systems also used the same environment variables(%TEMP%). When I delete the temp file in %BOE_TEMP% folder, I will never to delete temp files of the other systems. Could I?

To find out where the current catalog folder is located, do Help > System Info.
The default locations for photos are under My Pictures on Windows 7, as compared to Pictures on Vista.

  • Outlook 2011 (Mac) Default Search Folder

This question is for Outlook 2011 (Mac)  Does anyone know how to change the default search folder from All Folders in the Contacts Search? I want to make the default folder my company's ldap directory. It works fine when you select it from the list,
but it would be a lot more convenient if it searched ldap by default. I've searched online and haven't seen an answer to this.
    Thanks.

  • How to modify Bridge CS6 default sub-folder date format while importing?

How could I modify Bridge CS6 default sub-folder date format when we are importing images from a connected camera? Default format for shooting date is aaaammjj. I would like instead aaaa_mm_jj. How could I add "_" to the date format?

You only can do so after the import process using a third party app called A better finder Rename,  originally designed for Mac but they seem to have a Windows version also:

  • Change default homepage for all windows terminal user profiles

would like to change homepage, bookmarks, proxy settings for all user profiles on windows server 2003/2008

You can use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify new (default) values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
These functions can be used in the mozilla.cfg file:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

  • Adding entries of default-catalog.xml into my custom resource catalog

    Hi,
How can I add the contents of the default-catalog.xml into my own resource catalog?
    Use Case:
I am creating my own resource catalog and under that catalog, I wanted to add two folders. One contains my custom links and the other folder should contain all of the
entries in the default-catalog.xml. I tried dragging my default-catalog.xml into my custom resource catalog but it is appearing as a catalog reference and not as foldrs.
    How to do this?
    Thanks
    Webcenter 11.1.1.6

    Hi.
Try to add manually in "Source" tab and not with "design drag & drop".
You only have to copy <contents> information from default-catalog to your <contents/> folder information.
In this link i share you have a custom resource catalog with two folders: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/46128268/OTN-Samples/catalog1.xml
PD: It's a PS4 resource catalog archive, it's only for your help.
    Regards.

  • DEFAULT CATALOG IN ORGANIZER LOCATION

I have been using the default catalog in Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 organizer, and it is getting large. I decided to build a new catalog. It did not work out so I want to return to the default catalog. The program does not indicate that selection when I use the open command in the organizer. Can some one tell me where to find "My Catalog.psa" under Windows Vista.

    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\Catalogs
By the way, it is not recommended to split a catalog just because it is getting large. (How large was yours anyway?) Better you should compact it regularly by File->Catalog->Recover to keep your catalog "healthy".

  • Accidentally removed catalog folder! Help

Help! Help! I do not want to re-develop 1000+ photos in lightroom.
Incident: In helping to clean up my photo directory, i started consolidating and moving folders around in my HDD. However in doing so, I also accidently removed one of the 'catalog folder' in my Lightroom (so the original photos are still there in the physical folder, but i can't see it anymore in Lightroom). Now if I try to import the folder back into Lightroom, all my developed settings are lost (i.e. everything reverts back to the original settings).
After searching around the forums/discussion, I tried using the Find Missing Photos function and the Sychronize Folder function, both does not help with my problem. Unfortunately, my catalog backup is also a week old, so that wouldn't have my recently developed settings?
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to retrieve the removed catalog folder with all the previously developed settings?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to retrieve the removed catalog folder with all the previously developed settings?
Perhaps you could clarify what you mean by "removed". You used that word several times.
To me, it means you deleted the folder. Is that what you did? If so, then try the following in order:
    look in the trash
use a backup of your catalog (oh wait, you said the most recent one isn't recent enough)
last resort, try a program called an "undelete utility" which might be able to recover the catalog file
Other suggestions: maybe you want to use a more frequent backup scheme. More importantly, stop moving things around outside of Lightroom. This only causes problems unless you really really really know what you are doing. Just get out of the habit of managing things in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, and then these issues don't happen at all. If you read the forums, this is a regularly mentioned crisis, and it is easily avoided by not managing photos and catalogs outside of LR.

  • Set default image folder RH8

    Hi,
I wanting to change the default iamge folder in RH8 HTML, everytime I add an image, either by using the Insert button, or pasting it, the image is saved in the root project folder, rather than the iamges folder. It means I have to move a lot of stuff manually.
Can I set the folder where images should be stored in RH?
I've looked all over but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks, Nick

    Hi all
I hate to disagree here, but...
If you are using RoboScreenCapture, it has been my own experience that it doesn't quite work like that. What it does do is remember where I last saved an image, then present that as the suggested location for subsequent saves until it is changed again. Then the new location is configured as the suggested location.
I saw another post where it was suggested this could be manipulated via Capture > Capture Settings. But what I find there likely doesn't behave as one may wish. Sure, you may configure a default location for a "Quick Save", but you also sacrifice flexibility. You lose the ability to specify the Image File Name used and instead rely on RoboScreenCapture to name all images somewhat the same. I'm sure I'm not unique in wanting to name my images using specific file names that are easy to identify.
For what it's worth, I find the following workflow works well for me. When I capture images using SnagIt, I save the image in the desired folder inside my RoboHelp HTML project. During the process of saving, I note the image file name. Sometimes I even copy it to the Windows Clipboard. Then from inside RoboHelp HTML, I insert the image and simply type (or paste) the file name into the field. After typing the extension (I pretty much always use PNG) the image "magickally" appears in the dialog. I press Enter and voila!
    Cheers... Rick

  • Keeping folder path windows large

Is there a way to make the "Save As" folder path windows large so I don't have to enlarge them with the mouse everytime I save a document? It's really time consuming so It would be nice to create a default size and stick with that but I don't see hot it can be done. There must be a way though.

The file path windows should stick once you've expanded them. It is on an application by application basis, but once you selected the size by dragging from the right hand corner it should stick for that application.
If that's not happening I'd suspect either Finder preferences or .DS_Store.
go to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    Then, restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
If that doesn't do it then, Launch Terminal and at the prompt copy & pastecd /Press Return.
    Next enter:
    rm .DS_StorePress return
    Then restart.
This should set your problem folder back to default.

  • What is the default iTune Folder Structure for iTunes 10?

What is the default iTune Folder Structure for iTunes 10? As far as I can tell in windows 7 it goes something like.
    My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music
Other folders for downloads, pod casts, mobile applications are all in the iTunes Media folder, however the iTunes library database files are located in the iTunes Folder.
The reason I ask is that I am re-doing my music collection and I set up the folder structure mentioned above, but iTunes re-arranded everything and copied all of my music into the iTunes Media folder.
Anyone have any idea how iTunes does it by default?

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
If you have upgraded from version 8 (or earlier) to iTunes 9 (or later) at some point, then your media folder (everything inside the red outline) may still be called iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media. The extra Music folder inside the media folder is used if you have allowed iTunes to Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization (iTunes 9) or used File > Library > Organize Library > Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (iTunes 10). Depending on your choices for Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library plus a little bug in which one build changed the name of the file storing the choice of layout it is quite easy for some of your files to be organized according to one layout and some the other.
Assuming you're happy letting iTunes organize your files the following steps should tidy things up (should it be necessary):
    1. Select File > Library > Organize Library... > Tick Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" and click OK. Skip if this option is greyed out (already upgraded) or you prefer the older layout.
    2. Select File > Library > Organize Library... > Tick Consolidate files and click OK. This will bring any files currently organised outside the designated media folder into it.   NB This will create duplicate copies of any file that needs to be consolidated, and you will need to manually clean up afterwards. If space is at a premium try my scripts Unconsolidated to find out what would need moving and ConsolidatebyMoving to move rather than copy it.
    3. Select Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab, uncheck Keep iTunes Media folder organized and click OK.
    4. Select Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab, check Keep iTunes Media folder organized and click OK. This triggers iTunes into reorganizing everything according to your preferences.
    5. (Optional) Close iTunes, rename the folder iTunes Music as iTunes Media then restart iTunes. Check under Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab that the location has automatically updated. If you can't access the media for any reason just undo the folder rename.
    6. (Optional - Windows only) If Windows Media Player has ever had access to your files it may have liberally scattered folder artwork files about which iTunes won't tidy up when it reorganizes things, thus leaving behind a heap of folders with artwork and no media. I've written a script for cleaning this mess up called CleanDeadArt.
PS If you really prefer the older layout, but it is already in the new one then edit the file called .iTunes Preferences.plist in your media folder and change the integer from 1 to 0 before doing step 3.

  • Can't rename a folder in Windows 7 - receive error message

When trying to rename a folder in Windows 7, I get a "Folder In Use" message saying that the folder or a file in it is open in another program.  This is untrue as I don't have any other programs open.  I even rebooted the computer and tried again
and it gave me the same message.  This has occurred more than once and it's beginning to drive me crazy.  Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem?

    Hi,
    Please use the
Process Explorer to check which process keeps your file in use.
In addition, you can try to rename the folder in
Safe Mode to see the result.

Did you add a System DSN or a User DSN? If you added a User DSN from your own login, the asp.net application will not be able to use it unless its application Pool in IIS is configured to run under the same credentials that you used for creating
the DSN. It's better if you add a System DSN.
Also, be careful to ensure that you are using a 64 bit DSN, unless you configure the application to run in 32 bits. If the 64 bit application attempts to use the 32 bit driver you get the same error message "Data source name not found and no default
driver specified". See this KB article:
