Default Cipher Strength in Internet Explorer 11

Hello,
I noticed that the cipher strength is not displayed in the About box with the upgrade to IE 11.  In previous versions of IE however it did display there. Does IE 11 by default set the cipher strength to zero?  From research on other forums
I know that you can go to tools>interent options and change settings under the Security and Advanced tabs to enable the cipher strength, but was wondering if the default for IE 11 is that the cipher strength is automatically set to zero and you'd
have to go in and enable this manually.
Your responses in this matter are much appreciated. Thanks in advance! =)

  • Since installing Firefox as my default browser, and removing Internet Explorer 9,which was awful, my Homepage screen is just in the middle of my screen with very small print and empty space on each side of it. Can the be fixed?

Three days ago I installed Internet Explorer 9 as my browser. When I tried to sign in to my email on my homepage I couldn't.
I contacted my service provider and they said that Explorer 9 was not compatible with them as it is in Beta form and also in test mode.
They suggested that I remove Explorer 9 and install Firefox, which I did. Then they said it was a good idea to have more than one browser at a time and to go into the Microsoft site and download Explorer 8.
I tried this and it would not let me go back to Explorer 8 only forward to 9 which I reinstalled.
After all of this my Homepage only fills up the middle of my screen and I have empty space on either side of the picture. When I browse, the site I go to opens up to full page, but the print is much smaller than before.
I don't know what I installed to make my viewing so much smaller or my homepage to shrink.
Also do I really need 2 browsers or can I just go with Firefox?
If so, how will not having Internet Explorer affect my browsing?
Firefox is set as my default browser and I am enjoying using it, I just wish I had my Homepage back to full screen!

When going to a website the picture was small - tried changing the Zoom size , tried Zoom Reset - the text did change size but the layout distorts - found under View - Zoom - Zoom Text Only was checked --- Removed this check mark and the website returned to normal size and Zoom worked normally again. I am 99.9999% sure I did NOT check this myself and there is no one else on the computer to cause it. Maybe this will help.

  • Firefox is set as my default but how come Internet Explorer always comes on first instead

This happens all the time and I hate Internet Explorer for it nearly always has to shut down as it encounters some kind of problem, before when I made FireFox my default, that didn't happen but now I have Windows 7. It wouldn't let me copy and paste but it says "Internet Explorer has stopped working". We are trying to correct the problem and will let you know when the problem is corrected." This has been going on for months. I just put a few times a week to put something there. I wish to thank you in advance for answering my question.

  • How do I make Firefox NOT my default browser and restore Internet Explorer as default browser?

I used to have Internet Explorer as my default browser and when I went to Firefox it asked me if I wanted Firefox as my default browser and I always sad no. I must haves screwed that up somehow and I want to go back to Explorer as default.

    Not sure how often

To make Internet Explorer your default web browser, you can click on '''Tools''' from the toolbar at the top and select '''Internet Options'''. Then select the '''Programs''' tab from the top of the window to access the default browser settings. You might want to also choose to be alerted if Internet Explorer is not your default browser. Click '''OK''' to save your changes.
Please also be aware of that Firefox's latest version is [http://getfirefox.com 3.6.4] while you're running 3.5.9.

  • How do I get Firefox to open when I dial up to connect to the internet, instead of internet explorer for the internet service provider?

I have a dial up connection for the internet through Netzero.com, and when I click on it to dial up to the internet, it brings up the Netzero home page on Internet Explorer. I've changed my default home page from Internet Explorer, to Firefox, but when the internet is connected, Internet Explorer is the one that brings up the Netzero home page, not Firefox, so I have to click on the icon for Firefox, and then it opens, with Netzero home page on it, so I have to go through 2 different processes to get to use Firefox. I downloaded Firefox because it's suppose to be faster that Internet Explorer, especially since Internet Explorer keeps not responding when I'm in the middle of doing something. So I thought I'd try Firefox, but it doesn't seem to be faster than Internet Explorer, since the ISP that I have has a web accelerator, but it doesn't work on Firefox for some reason, I can see on a meter on my desktop when it's accelerating, and Firefox doesn't accelerate ever, if I change over to Internet Explorer, I can see the meter accelerating the web page. Hope you can help me with this problem, as I like Firefox. Thank you very much.

Try changing firefox to the default browser: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Setting_Your_Default_Browser]. That will probably get firefox to open when you dial up.
I'm not sure what you mean by "the meter accelerating the web page". Can you explain that?
    Thank you

  • Flash player not working on internet explorer 8 cipher strength 128-bit

    PLEASE HELP!
I'Mm using Windows XP and Internet Explorer 8 with cipher strength 128-bit and Flash player does not work properly, like when I want to watch a music video or listen to music on You Tube it plays then stops and plays and stops continuously I have installed the latest Flash Player but still have the same problem.
    Please please help anyone!

That sounds like you either have a very slow Internet connection, or the server at the other end (providing the video) is slow.
Try clearing your Internet cache; this helps sometimes.

Just wanted to clarify what you meant in this post. If you entered the router's IP address as the static IP for the laptop, you would get the symptoms that you are describing. Try entering a IP that isn't normally used like 192.168.1.142. (That is assuming that your router IP is the default 192.168.1.1.)
If that isn't the issue, please tell me what ipconfig is returning on both the laptop and the desktop.

  • Clicking on a link does not open firefox and take me to the page when firefox is my default browser but does when Internet Explorer is my default browser, what is wrong?

All of a sudden (I think after the last firefox update) links in other web pages won't open firefox to access the page when firefox is my default browser but works when I change my default browser to Internet Explorer and I can't figure out why. Help!!!

This problem just arose for me today. Very frustrating. Tried all of the suggestions here without success. Then a very simple solution came to me:
UNINSTALL CHROME. I haven't used Chrome for a long while anyway since it seems to have chronic problems of one sort or another. Firefox does 95% of what I need, and Internet Explorer can handle the other 5%.
After uninstalling Chrome I clicked a mailto link. It asked me what program to use and did not list Firefox as an option for some reason. In the Tools menu, I chose "Options" and went to the "Applications" tab. Searched for "mailto". There was a single entry - when Chrome was installed it gave me no options to switch. After uninstalling Chrome I was able to change that. It still did not list Firefox, but it did list "Gmail". Selecting that causes my Gmail to open in Firefox.
I have no idea whether Google or Microsoft is responsible for this, but I'm inclined to give the hairy eyeball to Google for this one. It's the sort of stunt they'd pull on Microsoft, then pretend it was just a mistake. Just one guy's opinion, of course.

  • URL links provided in emails (Windows Mail) stopped working. I get a popup message: "Windows cannot find...." asking me to make the URL is correct. I connect to Internet Explorer, but not Firefox, my default browser.

I have already updated Firefox to latest version and reset the default mail program to Windows Mail. But Windows Mail now doesn't want to recognize Firefox. If I shift to Internet Explorer, I have no problem. I have no problem receiving or sending emails, just using links contained in them.
This happened suddenly, two days ago, at the end of a day when linking had been possible, per usual.

nothing that I could find would solve my problem, so I just gave up trying...
then I had a group of Microsoft Updates badly interact with each other, causing me all kinds of stability problems involving SQL and printer drivers.
To fix those issues, I backed out all updates within the prior two months, then [slowly and painfully!] reinstalled them -- when done in groups, you can tell how Microsoft corrects bad updates by noting which ones are not reinstalled.
I also had to download and install every single MS SQL update available before everything that was broken worked again. Note that none of the updates had titles that suggested anything at all to do with web browsing (other than Internet Explorer) or Firefox.
There was also at least one Firefox update shortly after my re-installation of Windows Updates.
Funny thing happened along that path: as of today (version 32.0.1) has none of the problems I reported, but I cannot say for certain which change fixed them: I was far more concerned fixing SQL and printer issues to even test Firefox for default file association settings.
Sorry that I cannot be more useful, other than the general suggestions to:
    (1) keep your system fully updated with all patches
    (2) keep your anti-virus, anti-malware, and anti-spybot software current as well
    (3) keep any program that uses HTML and other browser protocols also up to date
    (4) take regular snapshots of your registry, and create a system restore point before every system and software update, so you can more easily back out problems
    (5) keep the installation package(s) for prior version(s) of software (and Windows Update files) at least until you verify an update hasn't broken anything.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I automatically connect to my ISP when I launch Firefox like Internet Explorer does (Firefox is set as my default browser)?

When Microsoft Internet Explorer was my browser the dial-up connection screen to my internet service provider would come up automatically when I launched the browser.
Now that I have made Mozilla Firefox my default browser this no longer happens. Launching Firefox results in an error message which says the website cannot be found. I then have to launch Internet Explorer, connect to my ISP, close Internet Explorer, then launch Firefox.
This is a bit tedious. Can Firefox perform the same connect to ISP action automatically just like Internet Explorer does? If so, how do I activate this?
    Thanks

  • Opening a .SWF in Internet Explorer as Default

I have a situation in which I have a .swf file. I want the
end users to view the .swf file and not the HTML file because the
.swf can be resized. I have gone into the properties of the .swf
file and set the "Opens With" default to Internet Explorer and then
clicked OK. On my machine it opens just fine in IE right away. The
problem lies when others in my department go to view it and it
opens the "Open With" dialog box for them to select a program. Many
more people will be viewing this, and not all of them are computer
savey, thus not knowing what program to use or why it is asking
them. I would have them use the Flash Player but for some reason
they don't have that. I know for a fact that everyone will have IE.
    Question:
Is there another way to have IE be the default program to
    open the .swf file?
Is there an actionscript in flash to do this?
Is there another way to view a .swf file so it can be
enlarged the size of the screen?
Any Ideas, suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Luke

Firefox is set as the default browser, but if I click a link in MS Word, the link is opened with MS Internet explorer. Why?

What version of Windows and Office is it? I had this issue with an older version of office and Windows XP. Basically, MS are using their browser (IE) because it's their software (MS Office). If you go to options in MS word though, you should be able to find an option to set the default browser to open links.

Below is how it is being done.  This worked perfectly for years. MS Office 2007 does complain that the file extension does not match the data format (it's a tab delimited text file but I'm pretending it's an Excel file so they'll be prompted to view it as a spreadsheet in Excel) but you just click open and it works fine.  This issue with IE is new.  Let me know if you have any more ideas.
