Default color palette in illustrator cc 2014

How and where can I save a custom default color palette in Illustrator cc 2014 ?
I'd figured it out for cc, but it overwrote my palettes when I upgraded, and now I can't seem to find the solution.  .ase files don't seem to be recognized by 2014, either.
Thanks!

Oh no, wait sorry. False alarm.
I don't have those options in my advanced options when I create a new AI doc. (see attached)
Clicking the "profile [custom]" dropdown only gives me the option to select presets such as "Web" and "Print" and "Basic RGB", but no option to create my own.

Modify the New Document Profile you use the most to reflect what you want it to contain or just make a new document with all the stuff and save it with a distinct name to the New Document Profiles folder in your user profile.

  • How to import color palette into illustrator

Since I am new to illustrator, I have a very simple question. I have a color palette from my company. This is the company colors. I would like to input these colors into the color palette of illustrator so I use those colors for our designs, etc. What is one way to do this?

Might be better to open the JPEG in Photoshop and create swatches there. Then you can export those swatches as ASE which you can then load into Illustrator.
In Illustrator you can include those swatches in a document profile. which you can then base your files upon.

  • Problem Lab color mode in Illustrator CC 2014

What is the best way to choose a CMYK color mode in Illustrator? When I want to import a file from Illustrator to InDesign it will automatically be converted to a Lab color mode and I can not change the CMYK values. All colors from Illustrator are therefore in a Lab color mode. I work with Illustrator CC 2014, thank you very much!

Thank you I think I understand what you mean. I added a Illustrator and Indesign picture to show you what happens. I made a file in Illustrator with the right values and saved it as a eps file. Then I imported in to Indesign and the second picture shows what happens. I never had this problem but since the new CC version I can't change it.

  • Color picker on Illustrator CC 2014 shows wrong values

See the image above . The selected area filled color is e6e6e6 ( 230, 230, 230 ) but the color picker shows the wrong value 4d4d4d. Its happens only on Illustrator , What is this actually is there any problem with the color mode settings ? Please help me

You misunderstand me, so don’t be too quick to judge.
I said that the Color panel was more efficient than the Color Picker. It has sliders so that you can adjust colours precisely as you wish first time, rather than just groping somewhere on a big area of colour in the Picker and then having to make fine numerical adjustments afterwards (plus an OK when you’re done).
The Color panel is particularly useful when you are working in CMYK because it ensures that you get clean mixtures when you want them (which the Picker does not, without fine tweaking afterwards).
And if you want to get shades of the same colour, you simply hold down Shift as you drag one of the sliders.
In conjunction with the Swatches panel, I would go for the Color panel any time, but if you prefer the Picker that’s quite all right by me.

  • Color Palette custom color deployment

    Hello,
I'm using Forms 9.0.4. I created a custom color called 'tooltext' in the default color palette. Then I created a Visual Attribute called TOOLTIP_VA that used 'tooltext' as its background. Finally I set the Visual Attribute for some of my Tooltips to TOOLTIP_VA.
Now when I run this in Forms Builder the tooltip colors come up OK. I transferred my FMB file to the Linux formserver and compiled it there to FMX. When I run this form it works too. So I was assuming that somehow the RGB for my custom color is encoded in the FMB file. Is that right?
I acually expected this not to work (I didn't expect the RGB to be stored in the FMB). Curiously enough when I convert the FMB to XML the RGB for 'tooltext' is NOT in the XML file. However the string 'tooltext' is in the XML file. What's up with that? Does the FMB have the actual RGB values for 'tooltext'? If not, how is it getting the color correctly when I deploy to the forms server? I'm not deploying any PAL file, just the FMB.

Forms .fmb files contain a color pallette. If you create a new form, and put nothing in it, then save it, it will be at least 32k. If you edit it with a generic text editor, you will see lots of sequences of rgb numbers.
It is pretty strange that Forms stores the color palette -- completely unnecessary, I would think. Seems like they could just store the rgb sequence of your custom color rather than store the whole palette. I wish they would remove the color palette from the fmb, because there are other bugs related to colors caused by the reliance of a color pallette.

  • Program-wide color change across Illustrator CS6.

I'm in OS X 10.8.3 working in Illustrator CS6. I have a MacBook Pro hooked up to a calibrated NEC PA271W monitor.
I've been working on some CMYK design documents with a mix of process and Pantone. All art was created in Illustrator and is vector. Everything was going fine, colors looked great and super-accurate as they always do with this monitor. Then...
I was exporting my design to PDF via Save a Copy. As I always do for PDFs I'm sending to a client for review, I chose to convert the colors to destination sRGB in the PDF options dialogue so they can be reviewed on screen.
Upon viewing the PDF using QuickLook in the Finder, I noticed that—rather than being converted to sRGB and looking pretty-close to the CMYK AI file—the PDF was extremely dull as if all colors had been desaturated 50%.
I tried other variations of the export and could not get the colors to look right (note: I did the exact same exports many times over the last week and they always looked great). Finally, I restarted my comp thinking perhaps it was just a temporary bug.
Upon opening my design file back up in Illustrator -- all the elements in the design file itself as we'll as ALL color palettes within illustrator had the same horrible desaturated look! CMYK proof preview was not turned on it affects all files, even those that worked perfectly in the past. I didn't knowingly change any settings in Illustrator (is there a make-all-colors-look-grayed-out shortcut I don't know about?!).
This is killing me because I'm on a tight deadline. Things I've tried:
Trashed all custom color profiles and re-calibrated
Trashed all ColorSync prefs and cache
Ran ColorSync validation on all profiles, fixed those with problems
Checked that CS6 color was synchronized
Checked that all profiles on documents were correct (though I knew it wasn't this because of the random nature of the change.
Restarted my Mac a bunch of times.
    Ran Onyx automated cleaning.
I am at my wit's end -- any suggestions for what might be causing this?

got another monitor? got another computer? if you have another monitor, hook it up. if not and you have another computer altogether, look at the pdf in acrobat on it.

  • Lost colors palette

    Hi,
when I execute batchs frm2xml and xml2frm I lost custom colors palette. It's "normal" or it's a bug. And what is the default colors palette (.pal) used when execute xml2frm.
    Tank's

But a major problem in deleting the uaer directory
is, you will lose all datasources !!
You will have to create the datasources again !!
    Any solution for this?
Thanks.Rename the default \.Creator\2_0 userdir rather than deleting it
is a better overall practice if you are having some issues to resolve.
You can then start up Creator and manually load the userdir to do
your exporting. Win example: rename .Creator\2_0 to .Creator\old_saved.
    Launch from c:\program files\sun\Creator2\bin\
    creator.exe -userdir c:\documents and settings\<useraccount>\.Creator\old_saved
Starting up Creator e.g. from Windows icon, automatically creates a new
    .Creator\2_0.

  • The Swatches palette default color names

    Hi,
I'm using Illustrator CS3 and I have a problem with the default colors in the Swatches palette.
Basically, every time I brush my cursor over the colors, I get names like C=85 M=10 Y=100 K=10 instead of sunshine, or C=75 M=0 Y=75 K=0 instead of peridot, proper color names that I should see.
Please help me out to display the right name settings since it will be easier for me to do my work. My Illustrator level is basic as I only took an introductory course, but will get better as I intend to put many hours of practice.
    Thanks in advance.

    PeeWee:
I am using CS3 and I'm pretty sure the colors in the standard palettes have only been called C=stuff M=stuff Y=stuff K=stuff all along. I don't think they have other names. Adobe decided against sunshine... ;). You could start a new document, change the color swatch names and save that altered file as a template, then use that from now on.
If you were an advanced user, you could also locate the cmyk and rgb default files and change those.
To change a swatch name, double click the swatch and change the name in the dialog that comes up, then close the dialog and voila!

  • Is it possible to set the default colours in the swatches palette in Illustrator CS4?

Is it possible to set the default colours in the swatches palette in Illustrator CS4? What I mean is replace the swatches default colour palette with my own, so that each time I create a new document it comes up with my colours rather than Illustrators.

You might also consider using color groups with Illustrator. Let me know what you think. It may help you out with projects that use the same color preferences.

  • I can't get my PC to use Illustrator CC (2014) as the default program to open .ait or .eps files.

When I try to set Illustrator CC (2014) as the default program to open certain files, such as Illustrator templates (.ait) or .eps files, my PC will not allow me to choose Illustrator. I've tried asking it to use the shortcut & also by going into my folders as follows:

  • Illustrator CC, 2014, default art board name

In Illustrator CC, 2014, How do you remove a custom art board name, and reset the default to start back at one? It used to be you would just remove the name, but that no longer works. When I create a new art board in a document that has been used as a template, it starts at "Artboard 239." How do I get that back to 1 without starting a new document?

    Davey,
You could try to reinstall using the full three step way:
Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Or you could have a look at items 1) and 11) in Other options (follow the link with that name).

I use a lot of arrow type lines from the Shapes Palette.
After I create the arrow-line I have to re-color it to red with the Graphics Inspector.
Is there a way to set red as the default color for this object?

  • Illustrator CC 2014 Font defaulting

Running Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
Illustrator CC 2014, Suitecase Fusion 6 (fonts loaded on computer)
I build business cards and reproduce them.
Event - Open Illustrator document copy everything (type and graphics)
Paste into another Illustrator document (same version of Illustrator) and the type defaults to Myriad Pro (default font)
This is inconsistent, happens maybe twice a week (handling about 200 files a week) but is costly.
    Example
Open document A copy all content.
paste into document B (blank template for many up) Font can be fine.
open document C paste into document B (template again) and fonts can default to Myriad Pro
open document D paste into document B (template again) and font can be fine again.
This problem is difficult to reproduce because it is so infrequent.
Are there any extensions I can turn off, preferences I should trash, Reinstall?
I've read several posts starting with CS5.5 up to last fall (2014) but I haven't read any fixes yet.
Any suggestions would help. Thank You.

Jacob Bugge, thank you for your suggesting of changing the default font, but I couldn't get it to work.
I thought I followed the directions to the T,  I tried several times with different fonts (all system fonts) but it didn't take.
Of course I must have missed something.
But… I was able to recreate this problem in case this is effecting anyone else.
I have two documents open - Document A (business card) and Document B (template)
I copy the items from document A
    Paste into document B
if I close document A without saving (by clicking on the "X") while I am still in document B (still having the pasted contents selected) - the font defaults to Myriad Pro.
If I click (command Z) it reverts back to the original pasted font. (this is how I get around this problem - I hope I catch all of them)
This still doesn't happen in all situations but when it does happen I am able to recreate the problem with the same file.
This is strange, because - I didn't do anything to document B except paste the information into it. So when I "undo" it should remove the pasted information. This tells me it is actually preforming an action like "change fonts to default".
I'm thinking this could be any number of things - Fonts, Server, or even a corrupted Illustrator download (most likely fonts because it isn't happening to all files I use. I will try to track the font usage to see if that is it)
I hope people can follow this explanation and it helps find a solution to this strange problem.

  • Set Custom Color Palette as Default

Does anyone know how to set the a custom default palette? I created a few new colors and exported. Now when I try to import, I browse to the .pal file, however the option check box 'Use Imported Color Palette' is disabled.
In preferences my color mode is set to Editable. Is there another setting somewhere? I'm trying to set this up so all my developers have access to the colors and they only have to set the pallete up once.
    TIA - Brian

This has come up before, and I think it is not possible.  The OS always keeps one of its own Latin keyboards active, and unfortunately I have not seen any way that these (located in system/library/keyboard layouts/applekeyboardlayouts.bundle) can be modified by the user.
PS Another possible source for "PC" layouts for people using that kind of hardware instead of Apple keyboards is the set of Logitech layouts provided when you download Ukelele.
