Default Contact list renaming

My Vlingo won't recognize my contacts. It says in the help section that the program uses the "Default" contact list. I don't have a default contact list. One is called unknown and the others are my email lists. How do I change the name of my "Unknown" list to "Default" or how do I add a "Default" list?

Glad to hear your mobile carrier was able to correct it.
Knowning a bit more of the situation, do you have a Gmail account? If so, what sounds like happened is when you added this email account contact synchronzation was enabled. Once this happened, it added a wireless sync service book which change your address book to have the Gmail as the main account.

  • I can't seem to merge a redundant contact list with a current one. If I delete the redundant contact list I will lose all of my contacts that I have (still) been inadvertently adding using this as my default contact list.

When I was working with my old job I had a contact list on my phone that was associated with my job's personal email address. Now that I have a new mac and am now a new full time student I would like to use my new uni email address as my default contact list. I have now made this change but have only just realised that I have been adding contacts for a period of months using this now redundant list.
When I sync my computer with my phone (which is working great using iTunes), I am unable to get all of my recent contacts.
    I have three groups:
"All contacts" - I understand this is all of my contacts on my phone
"All from My Mac" - This is my new list and constitutes around 80% of my contacts
"Contacts" - This is the old list from my previous employer and contains (I think) 100% of my contacts. Well all of my useful ones anyway - maybe 99%. I would like to delete this group as I don't use the email address anymore and don't work for them!
The end result that I am looking for, is a complete list of ALL of my contacts synced with my computer in Outlook, and to be able to delete my old work contact list!
Please help (you bunch of legends).

    Launch iTunes on your computer.
From the menu bar click iTunes > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.

  • Outlook 2013: Default contact list when I click on People

    Hi All,
A question about the "People" pane in Outlook 2013.
Is there a option to select a default contact list ?
    Many thanks in advance.

A question about the "People" pane in Outlook 2013.
Is there a option to select a default contact list ?
If your question is "can you change the default contact folder" via the People pane (where default contact folder means where contacts are saved when no contact folder is otherwise selected)
    Answer: No
The <default> contact folder is defined by the data store selected as the "default" under Account Settings --> Data Files
On the other hand, if your question is in reference to contact folder selected by default upon opening the AB - then <Clark445Kent>'s reply applies

  • IPhone set default contact list

My wife and I have iPhones and have our contacts set for our own groups. But when adding new numbers they do not show on said group but only in the main group for cloud. How do you set it so they go both in the main cloud and our group?

Great you are right. I also found what was confusing me and maybe a bug in the system. I made a group called iPhone only added 5 contacts in it. It works as you advised it stayed as my default list. But after a reboot of the iPhone. It showed my iPhone group but was labeled All Contacts. (it said at the top of the screen All Contact but only had 5 in there which was my iPhone Group) So before with all my contact I had tones of contacts it was hard to distinguish that I was still on personal contact and not All contact because all my contact list has a large amount of contacts in them.
Thanks again for the Help. B.H.

  • Is there a way to set Thunderbird as the default contact list in your PC?

I am trying to link my Q10 to my PC in order to save my contacts and calendar.  It is trying to use Microsoft Outlook but I don't use that program and I want my contacts to be saved in my computer not in a cloud somewhere.  Any hints on how to make this work or if it is even possible?
    Thanks.

BB10 was originally designed without any direct sync and only via cloud-based services...Outlook was added recently, but so far no other desktop PIMs have shown up as compatible.

  • Contact list harzardous replaced by an older version - how to restablish the last contact list?

How to restablish a Contact list when it has been accidentaly replaced by an older version?

    Hey Santosh991,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
First update your service book  as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830 . Then go into Options, Device, Advanced System System Settings, Default services and try changing your default Contact list.
    I hope this helps.

  • Itunes combined two contact lists on our iphone

My daughter set up our itunes account on our family
computer. We have I phones on a family plan. I logged on with my iphone and purchased some music with what I thought was "our" itunes account. Somehow, my daughters iphone contacts merged with mine and mine with hers. I deleted what I thought were strange contacts -which were my daughters contacts -which deleted all her friends. How can we seperate out the two phones and two contact lists? Is there anyway to get her contacts back? We apprently can't have 2 itunes accounts since we only have one computer.

I'm afraid this is gonna be a bit of a pig.
First things first, change your default contact list to your exchange account, not "On your iPhone". Settings > Mail, Cont, Cals > Under Contacts change default account to your EAS.
I'm going to guess you have an exchange account with contacts and thats where you originally wanted all these scanned contacts to go?
There's no easy way to do this, but I can see you doing this 2 ways.
    1. Opening each contact individually and click Share and email to your exchange account and Save into exchange contacts.
    2. Sync your contacts from "On My iPhone" to Outlook (configure in iTunes). Try to sync to an alternative computer or different profile on the same computer so that you don't duplicate your existing Outlook/exchange contacts.
When done, import those contacts you've just extracted into your normal Outlook exchange account.
Don't forget to delete your 'On My Iphone' contacts to avoid confusion.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • BB 9790 contact list problem

I just got a new 9790 and moved my data from my old 8520 to the 9790. I had 3 e-mail accounts, one of them is GMAIL ([email protected]). The GMAIL account installed itself as default contact list. I have no other contact lists. I want to get rid of GMAIL as default contact list, but can not find a way without wiping the full 9790 data.
Is there any way to get a "Defaul" Contact list, a "default" calendar?
This behaviour is because when you add GMAIL as an e-mail account, there is a very small checkbox that says"set as default contact list", and if you dont read everything carefully, comes pre-checked!! (sneaky on GMAIL, isn't it?)
    Any help will be welcome.

    Have you tried unchecking it?
Go to Setup> Email> choose the email account, click edit> Under synchronization options you can see the "contacts" check mark.

  • More than one contact list a PITA on the iPhone

I have two contact lists on my iPhone - one personal & one business.  Both are synced to separate gmail accounts.  My personal list is set as the default contact list in settings.  (I had three when I had contacts enabled for iCloud, but that only complicated things worse.)
How the heck do I add a new contact to my business list from my iPhone without going into settings and changing the default list first?
If there is no way to do this, and as far as I can tell there isn't:
Feature Request: have a dropdown on the new contact screen so you can select which contact list to add the new contact to if there are more than one.  And/or the ability to move a contact from one list to another.
[I'm not sure if Apple monitors these forums; is there a better place to make a feature request such as this?]

I'm aware of that.  But about 90% of the time, I add contacts from the phone or message app, not the contact app.  If I get a call or message from someone not in either of my contact lists, I'll click "Add new contact".  This only adds it to the default contact list - there's no way to choose or to move contacts from one list to the other.
The limitations of syncing Google contacts with the iPhone is becoming troublesome too; I'm loosing numbers for some contacts with many phone numebrs and/or they are getting re-labled.
I'm trying to figure out if I can somehow sync both accounts with iCloud.  It would have to be a one-way sync though so I dont' end up with personal contacts in my business account and business contacts in my personal list.
I must be missing something.  I can't be the only person with two email accounts and needing access to the contacts in both of them from my phone.

  • Nokia 6670 - Missing contact lists

I had been using Nokia 6670 since past 3 years without any issue. Yesterday, when I started recieving calls from friends without their names being displayed, I realised that all contacts are missing from the phone. After re-boot, names are now displayed while recieving calls, but am unable to view any contacts and while in the contacts view only EXIT option is dispalyed and I cant even select that option to exit the app.
Can some one help me in understanding what is going on and how to go about rectifiying the issue ?
    Thanks
    Neeraj

Hello derbow and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
The default contact list was replaced by the Gmail account when the contact sync was enabled with the BlackBerry Internet Service. Your contact list is still present, however, it now will read as the Gmail address and not as "Default".
If you want to remove the Gmail address under the Contact Options, you will need to do a security wipe of your device which will remove all data. KB14058 "How to delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone using the Wipe Handheld option" will walk you through this process.
To do a restore of backed up data consult KB10339.
To restore the contacts back to your device, it is recommended to do the wired synchronization with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and not restore using the back up file.
As for the Default Services only listing Calendar and Messaging, this is the normal default on the BlackBerry. The Contacts options became present when the Gmail sync was enabled and disappeared when you removed the contacts sync option.
Thanks and have a great day!

  • Contact list sync

i just got a new laptop, running windows 7 & re-installed office 2003.  I need to sync my BB Torch contacts with Outlook.  Apparently I have a default contact list on the BB & on that is labeled unknown.  the default only has 3 entries & those get synced, but the unknow list has 147 entries & they do NOT get synced.
    Any ideas?

  • Wireless Synchronization in Desktop contact list properties is by default showing "Not Available", Not able to change also

In my Blackberry 8520 - Curve model, Wireless Synchronization in Desktop contact list properties (Go to Contacts, select options, select Desktop) is by default showing "Not Available" and not allowing to change also. My other colleagues are having the options.
My basic issue is that Outlook contact details are not getting syncronized with Blackberry. I believe this is the root cause for the same. Please guide to resolve the issue.
    with best regards,

    Hey pratiktnm,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are you setup on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server?  With the Desktop service book appearing it seems you were on one.  If you are still on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, I would suggest creating a full backup with BlackBerry Desktop Software: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB33505
Then proceed with a security wipe by going to Options>Security>Security Wipe and then contact your network service provider to generate a new Enterprise Activation password.  Then proceed with the enterprise activation by going to Options>Advanced Options>Enterprise Activation.
Once the activation is completed, test out the wireless synchronization of the contacts.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.
