Default domain backup

Hi everyone,
I'm running "Oracle Communications Messaging Server 7u4-24.01(7.0.4.24.0) 64bit (built Nov 17 2011)" and i have 3 domains configured:
mydomain.com (default domain)
doma.mydomain.com
domb.mydomain.com
I need to configure backup-groups.conf in order to have backups per domain basis and my conf file looks like this:
bash-3.2# cat /msgsr/config/backup-groups.conf
groupa=[^@].*
groupb=.*@doma.mydomain.com
groupc=.*@domb.mydomain.com
imsbackup works fine on groupb and groupc but i can't backup just the default domain (groupa) probably due to the wrog regexp i configured for groupa.
My goal in groupa was to backup all mailboxes except @doma.mydomain.com and @domb.mydomain.com (Default domain mailboxes are stored without domain part).
Any ideas?

Solved...........
I reconfigured my backup-groups.conf in this way:
groupb=.*@doma.mydomain.com
groupc=.*@domb.mydomain.com
groupa=.*
And now groupa define all mailboxes not in doma.mydomain.com and domb.mydomain.com.

  • Default domain policy got corrupted and can't reverse to old system state?

    Initially we had two servers which was 2003 and 2008, after adding additional two more servers (server 2012) in the network and then demoted the old servers. and that was quite while ago. after carefully looking a the default policy I have noticed that there
    so many policies was applied on default policy object which led me to disable them and created a backup for both domain controller and the domain policy.
    now the problem is stupidly run
    dcgpofix  thought it will restore the domain policy to it's original state but it did not instead it came up with an empty default policy template and inside there is no security policy which i can edit. However i did tried to restore the old policy which
    i backed up but i get an access denied error.
    Now i realise that the original default policy was from server 2003 and the current schema domain functional level is 2012.  Currently
    I can not login to any newly added computers to the domain via domain administrator account.
    Please help! Is there any way to create a new default domain policy?

    Hi thanks for your input,
    but that doesn't resolves my issue. However I have managed to fix it by modifying the Default policy systemflags and then run the command gpfixup.exe /ignoreschema /target :domain.com.
    and after that I was able to restore my old gp from earlier backup.

  • Default Domain Policies

    By default, two polices are created when you dcpromo a server: Default Domain Policy, and Default Domain Controllers Policy. These polices should have guids of {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9} and {31B2F210-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB981F1} respectively. However, in my 2003 domain, someone had renamed the default domain policy and put a new one named "Default Domain Policy". To make things worse, the Default Domain Controller Policy is missing but a new policy called "Default Domain Controllers Policy" is in its place. I currently have the following:
    Default Domain Policy -> {C0C9ADF5-8E49-499C-87B2-2804931871DA}
    Default Domain Policy - Disabled Original -> {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}
    Default Domain Controllers Policy -> {6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}
    I do not have backups of the original policies. I suspect the polices have been in this state for at least a year if not longer.
    What is the impact of leaving the policies in their current state?
    Should I attempt to restore the original policies using dcgpofix.exe?
    Will using dcgpofix cause any issues with my Exchange 2003 or SMS 2003 environments?
    Thanks,
    Sean

    Hi,
    The default policies created by the system should be:
    Default Domain Policy
    {31B2F340-016D-11D2-945F-00C04FB984F9}
    Default Domain Controllers Policy
    {6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}
    These two policies are built-in policies that define default settings applies to domain users and computers.
    In this issue, I’d like to know whether the original Default Domain Policy is still linked to the domain or not. If yes, it will be OK even though it is renamed.

  • Unable to edit Default Domain policy on Server 2012 R2 domain controller

    Hello,
    I recently built a Server 2012 R2 domain controller and added it to my domain.  When trying to edit the default domain policy I get the following error:
    I can make edits to other GPO objects.  All the other domain controllers are Server 2008 and are able to edit that GPO.  The issue is on the Server 2012 box only.  I've checked the delegated permissions, I'm a domain admin, and have opened
    GPMC as administrator.  Does anyone know what I'm missing?  Thank you for your time.
    Tino

    Hi Tino,
    >>Could that be the problem?
    I don't think so, for we can still use FRS to replicate Sysvol. However, it is recommended that we use DFSR to replicate Sysvol if our domain
    function level is Windows Server 2008 or above.
    Besides, we can follow the suggestions from the following thread to check out which replication mechanism we are using.
    DFS-R on 2008 R2 by default?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/8f2042d3-193d-4414-b9da-cbcedc6a4c32/dfsr-on-2008-r2-by-default?forum=winserverDS
    If the Sysvol is replicated by FRS mechanism, as I suggested in the last reply, we can do a non-authoritative restore for the Sysvol on the new Windows
    Server 2012. This will restore the Sysvol from a healthy DC.
    To perform a nonauthoritative restore, stop the FRS service, configure the BurFlags registry key, and then restart the FRS service. To do so:
    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type cmd and then press ENTER.
    3. In the Command box, type net stop ntfrs.
    4. Click Start, and then click Run.
    5. In the Open box, type regedit and then press ENTER.
    6. Locate the following subkey in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NtFrs\Parameters\Backup/Restore\Process at Startup
    7. In the right pane, double-click BurFlags.
    8. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, type D2 and then click OK.
    9. Quit Registry Editor, and then switch to the Command box.
    10. In the Command box, type net start ntfrs.
    11. Quit the Command box.

  • How do I move the policy from Default domain policy to a custom policy.

    I want to implement a new password policy.  In the past we had a fairly loose policy, now I want to implement minimum length and complexity.  I know how to set this up in Computer Config Policies windows settings security settings and account policies
    password policy. However after I set it up I notice that it is not being applied.  I have run gpupdate, and even waited several days but still it's not taking effect.  I have created what im calling a custom gpo calling it "password policy".
    It is situated under domains/mydomain.com .  There are a number of other policies here.
    When I run gpresult /h c:\temp\gpreport.html  its all a bit confusing. It looks like it being applied but then further down it says under Group policies Applied GPOs Denied GPOs Pssword Policy mydomain.com empty. ??
    But let me ask this first off .
    The previous administrator I think has the password policy set up in the "default domain policy"
    Is it possible that the default domain policy which IS indeed set differently is overriding my custom "password policy"
    If this is so how can I make it so  my custom password policy is applied over the default domain policy.
    Or what other answers could it be.

    Hi,
    Based on your requirement you can create Fine Grained Password Policies.
    This feature introduced in Windows Server 2008 allows you to override password policy set at the Default Domain Policy for specific users or groups.
    Checkout the below link for creating Fine Grained Password Policies from GUI in Windows Server 2012,
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/reference_point/archive/2013/04/12/fine-grained-password-policies-gui-in-windows-server-2012-adac.aspx

    Hi,
    Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

    Hi,
    you see that message: "The password must be at least 8 alphanumeric characters with at least one number or special character." ?
    The password: The weblogic password you provide when prompted
    must be at least: minimal condition for secure passwords enforced on WLS by default
    at least 8 alphanumeric characters: no 7 but eight or more characters
    with at least one number or special character: password should have a number in it or an "@" "-" or similar
    E.g.
    weblogic1
    is one password option that would meet that requirement

  • JDev 11g update 1 base edition on windows: error building default domain

    Hi all,
    (refer to [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3168105]here for original post)
    I'm posting this again with some more information. When downloading the Studio Edition (Base - no JDK) version of JDeveloper 11g update 1, an error occurs upon first (and each subsequent) startup of JDeveloper (error details below).
    Tests that I have done:
    1). Install using JDK 6 u 11 - JDK did not show up automatically in the installer, had to browse to find it and select it. Running using 6u11, 6u10, and 6u7 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs.
    2). Install using JDK 6 u7 - JDK was automatically found by the installer. Running using 6u7, 6u11, and 6u10 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs
    These errors do not occur when using the Windows installer. For information: my machine is Windows 2008 Server Standard 32-bit. An update - I just tried this on a Vista 64-bit laptop (running Sun 32-bit JDK 6u10) and did not have the problem. Ergo, this seems to be an issue with the JDK and detecting Windows 2008 as a Windows platform (or possibly with whatever mechanism JDev/WLS is using to detect the OS platform). I'll do more research on that and update if I find anything.
    One more update: I didn't find any issues reported like this related to Windows 2008, but I did one more test: install and run JDeveloper using:
    java version "1.6.0_05"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
    BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode)                                                                   The issue does not occur using this JDK. So to summarize, installing JDev 11g update 1 Studio edition, base installer using any of the SUN JDK's on Windows 2008 gives this problem. Using the windows installer or JRockit Mission Control JVM - no problems.
    Finally, one last update - the error is related to the JVM that is used to install, not the one used to run JDeveloper (via editing jdev.conf) - the offending JDK is in wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd. Seems like a no-no to have one JDK running JDev and another running the integrated WLS, though. Quite a pity, as JDev starts up pretty slowly using JRockit Mission Control.
    JRockit Realtime seems to be a bit faster... sigh - now to remove the 72 extra JDK's on my laptop ;)
    My going forward plan: use the Windows installer. Wish I never installed Windows Server 2008.
    Now for the error details; the log shows:

  • ERROR:  An error occurred while building the default domain

    Hi,
    I have just installed Oracle JDeveloper 11g R1 (Build 5407) (Oracle JDeveloper Studio Edition for Windows (934 MB) ) on my windows laptop, but when I start JDeveloper I get the message : ERROR: An error occurred while building the default domain.

    Hi,
    This might be caused by a conflict with something already in your CLASSPATH. I would suggest the following:
    1. Shut down JDeveloper if it is already running. Delete the default domain directory:
    rd /s "C:\Documents and Settings\richard anthony\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.1.33.54.07\DefaultDomain"
    2. From a command prompt, clear your CLASSPATH:
    set CLASSPATH=
    3. Start JDeveloper using the same command prompt as step 2:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev
    If the problem was with the pre-existing CLASSPATH, the default domain should now build successfully.

    Why the system cannot find the path specified?
    Please help! What I need to do?
    Best regards!

    copy all jars zips or other files from 'program files' to an other folder without spaces in its name.
    Then search for the library which refers to the files in 'program files' and change the location to the new folder.

  • An error occurred while building the default domain - New version of error

    I have installed JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.2.0. I used an temporary Admin account on the machine to install (organization security does not allow normal users to have admin accounts) and it runs perfectly well under that account.
    When I logged in under my normal account though I get an error trying to run the Debugger on the application. The server appears to be the only area of JDeveloper that has issues under this account, and below is the Log:
    [Waiting for the domain to finish building...]

    The Server Instance cannot be started because the Integrated Weblogic domain was not built successfully.

    Any one have any ideas??? Seems like security issue, but this account has full access to it's C:/User/Account folders.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Can you try the following steps and let us know if it works?
    1. Create a folder in your c: drive (say c:\myjdevhome)
    2. Invoke the command prompt, set JDEV_USER_HOME=c:\myjdevhome
    3. cd to JDEV_HOME\jdeveloper\jdev\bin
    4. Start the jdev (jdev.exe).
    5. Run/Debug your application.

  • Windows 8 and Default Domain Policy modification issue

    Hi,
    I'm unable to edit the default domain policy from my new Windows 8 desktop.  It's the only Win8 in the environment so I'm not able to easily test another one unfortunately.  The error I receive is:
    Group Policy Error
    Failed to open the Group Policy Object.  You might not have the appropriate rights.
    Details: The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid.
    I have checked from a Win7 and a 2003 machine and can access and edit the GPO without issue using the same account.  The Win8 desktop is a fresh install with the RSAT tools installed, Exchange 2010 tools and a few basic applicaitons (non of which stick
    out as having anything to do with AD management).
    It only occurs if I click edit on the GPO.  I'm able to successfully view the policy and edit the permissions etc.  Have rebooted and the machine is current with patches as of now.
    thanks
    Andy
    Cheers Andy

    Hi,
    According to your description, the issue only occurred when you click to edit the GPO. And only occurred on Windows 8. I would like suggest you to follow below suggestions to narrow down the issue:
    1. Check out whether the issue only occurred to Default domain policy object.
    2. Test on another new installed Windows 8 client with only RSAT installed.
    3. Create another new account and add it to domain admin group to test again.
    4. Run dcdiag on DCs to check out whether the replications work fine.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't edit default domain controllers policy on windows 8 or server 2012

    I have found that I can't edit the "Default Domain Controllers Policy" from a Windows 8 or Server 2012 machine.  I can edit and save changes fine from a Windows 7 machine.  The domain controllers are running Windows 2012 Standard upgraded
    from Windows 2008 R2.  Is there a security setting I am missing?

    Posting the resolution from the other thread.  Hope it helps!
    I just accidentally resolved this issue today.  I added the GPMC to a 2008 R2 server so I could make a needed firewall
    change within the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security section of the Default Domain Controllers GPO (I enabled the Remote Event Log management rule for the Domain profile).  About an hour later, I forgot I was using my Windows 8 machine and I went
    to edit the Default Domain Controllers GPO and opened for edit without a problem.  I can now edit it from Windows 8 and from Windows Server 2012.  Until now, I was using a Windows 7 VM to make the edits, so in my case the problem was resolved by
    editing the GPO once from a 2008 R2 machine.

  • I want to open a domain.site2 file outside the default folder (User/Library/Application Support/iWeb) with iWeb11, but iWeb only opens the domain file in the default folder. If I delete the default domain file, iWeb wants to create a new site. Help please

    I want to open a domain.site2 file outside the default folder (User/Library/Application Support/iWeb) with iWeb11, but iWeb only opens the domain file in the default folder. If I delete the default domain file, iWeb wants to create a new site. Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it?

    In Lion the Finder folder is now invisible.  To make it permanetely visible enter the following in the Terminal applicaiton window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
    For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an applicaiton.
    Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
    do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate

  • Gpupdate wont update because of Default Domain Policy

    Hi Technet Community
    I have just tried to do a gpupdate /force in the Command Prompt, but it has thrown an error up at me. Screenshot below :
    I have gone into Group Policy Management and tracked the UID (which is displayed above starting with 31B2F340...) to be the same as the Default Domain Policy. Usually, I would do whatever I need to with Group Policy to get it working again, but I don't know
    how to change this policy about, or whether I can delete the current one and recreate it?
    Could anyone let me know what I can do to resolve this.
    A restart does not resolve this issue, and if I leave the domain and re-join it, it still doesn't resolve it.
    I'll try installing SP1 and see if it works, but no other Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 client computers seem to work either, with exactly the same error.
    All users can still log in.
    Thanks
