Default duration on the timeline of Roll title.

We are developing a title importer plugin for Premiere Pro CC.
I want to set a default duration value when I put materials on the timeline.
However, selector imGetInfo8 is called, if imFileInfoRec8->vidInfo.isRollCrawl=1 is returned, the value of General Setting will be effective.
It is supplementary as follows:
1.materials is a roll/crawl title.
2.The roll/crawl title made by our software.
3.roll/crawl title has duration.
4.The roll/crawl title in the timeline already, I want to change the duration freely.
5.It is not reflected although imFileInfoRec8->vidDuration was tried.
Is it possible in Premiere Pro SDK ?

About "roll/crawl titles cannot be initialized with a non-default length".
-> I Understand. I hope to become able to initialize it in the future.
*I hope that a new type is added to the 'ImporterDurationType'.
for example 'imNoDurationVidDurationDefault' ---> use supplied vid duration and duration on the timeline can be changed freely.
Normal video does not seem to fit as a solution.
Because I would like to adjust duration freely on the timeline.

Is it possible to change the duration of the timeline in Premiere Pro CS5.5?

I'm used to working on Avid systems where the length of the timeline is determined by the last asset in the timeline, where it ends. I'm editing commercials and don't need or want a 10 minute timeline. Does anyone know how to change the duration of the timeline, like you can in After Effects? I've tried everything I can think of and It seems like it is not possible.... Thanks!

Now, if you are seeing a Duration for your Timeline, that is longer than what you "anticipate" with your Assets on it, then you could well have an "Orphan," out beyond the anticipated end. This ARTICLE goes into more detail.

I can't see the duration in the timeline...

I'm working in CP5 on a Mac and I can't see the slide duration in the timeline. It's cut off. I tried closing out the timeline panel and re-opening it. I tried dragging it up and down and I can't get the entire bar to show up. Has anyone had this problem?

How do you change the timeline duration in Photoshop CC?

There seems to be 5 second limit on the duration of the timeline in Photoshop version 2014.
How can you extend the duration of the animation? There's a timeline window, but no "animation" window as mentioned in many of the help files.

Thanks for the reply, but my point was not about the lack of creating animations.
It seems that in Photoshop CC, you cannot change the duration of the timeline unless you click on the end of a clip and drag it out which will then give you more time. As the original post mentioned, you automatically get a 5 second duration unless you have a video clip that is of longer time. This all makes sense for videos, I understand that nobody (usually) wants to stretch video. Video by nature will extend the timeline based on how much footage is present.
Now take an animation scenario where you want to create something from scratch that spans longer than the default 5 seconds. There is no option!!! No document settings, nothing that will allow you to extend the timeline. I now have to click and drag each layer clip on the timeline to give it more time for the animation, one by one might I add (you can't even highlight multiple clips and extend them all at once, which is crazy).
So what does this mean? Well if you create a mockup of something with all of these intricate layers including backgrounds, copy etc. and you only intended to animate a certain piece for say 8 seconds, you'll have to extend each and every single layer clip in the timeline otherwise they will magically disappear and the only thing displaying is that which you have extended manually.
The reason why you need a document settings in the timeline is to prevent content from disappearing if something extends for a certain amount of time.
Frame by frame animations only allow for so much functionality, try to animate multiple objects at once with frames and go back and make a change to one part...
CS5 would simply show everything regardless if they did nothing on the timeline, it allowed you to see all of your elements present.
Again, I stand by my statement saying that the new timeline is flawed.

How to change the location of the "Diamond" on the Timeline

I am new to Flash and using it for just about a month. I created a series of approximately ten layers all with motion tweens. The basic drift is that a series of "letters" are moving from right to left and so on. Eventually they all land at the same "frame" and someone's anme is spelled out. The actual duration of the timeline exceeds the tween as there is a background being built. Therefore when my tween stops for all the layers, there is the "diamond symbol to indicate the stop of the tween. I happened to notice that all of the layers had the exact same frame location of the diamond (135, for instance), but one of the layers fell short at 134. It actually causes the letters to misalign. How can I move the "diamond" just one postion to the right, thus causing everything to be in harmony? Thanks all!

Hi,
I have to export movies from a lot of still images (jpeg) with media encoder CS6.
can I change the default duration of the output file? Actually it's 5 seconds but I need clip of 1 second.

Changing the length of still images in the Timeline

Since a still image is just one frame, the manual says that I should change the import value to 00:00:00:01. Is there a way to control (change) the lengh of the still once it is in the Timeline? Thanks.

To change the duration on the timeline, control-click on the clip in the timeline and from the drop down menu choose "Duration". You can set the duration you want in the window that opens.
I am not sure what manual you are reading, but the import duration is entirely up to you. If you think you are going to be using the stills for approx. 20 seconds, set the import duration to that (go to the menu Final Cut Studio > User Preferences and on the Editing Pane set the Still Freeze Duration to the time you want.
The effect of this change will take place on the next files you import, and will not change existing imports.

When I share the video it exports a different version than what appears in the timeline

I've had a really frustrating few days waiting for exports (to Apple Devices) and processing (when uploading to Vimeo). In my timeline appears the properly edited video, but when it gets shared, the video drops clips that I have added, and includes clips that I removed early in the editing process, and gives me a final product that is not my intended video. Please help, need to get this video uploaded for a client yesterday!

Changes made inside compounds are reflected in the project - there is one caveat and I wonder if that was the case for you: compounds, like any other clip, are trimmed to a given duration in the timeline. If your changes made that duration change, you'd have to adjust in the project timeline. For example if you create a 1 minute compound and then edit in its own timeline so that it beco es, say, 5 minutes, it will still be trimmed to 1 minute in the project timeline, and you may have to drag the edges of the clip to extend as much as you wish. This is NOT a bug.

Default calibration for new timelines

If you import your still images using iPhoto, then the time you set for each still, using FCPX Perferences works.
You can set the durantion from 1 frame to as long as you want them view.
If you do not use iPhoto to import your stills, the default is 10 sec's.
FYI: This issue was brought up within a month after FCPX was released. They found out by using iPhoto, you had better control of the amount of time your still was viewed.

Shorten Clips In The Timeline And Shorten The Project Duration

When I shorten a clip in the timeline by dragging on one end a blank space appears. I know this is in order to keep the project the same duration but I do not want this. I am happen for the project duration to reduce in accordance with my timeline clip editing, without any blank spaces appearing.
How do I achieve this noting that this seems to be a recent default situation, whether I use FCPX 10.09 or 10.01.01.

Thank you Tom and Luis, but I'm not with any of this. I can add a clip to the timeline or insert a clip into it via the "arrow tools". If I attempt to shorten the clip IN the timeline there is a blank space representing the amount trimmed from the clip.
I want the next clip along to that I've trimmed to automatically move along the timeline albeit shortening the total project duration.
Pressing "A" on the keyboard doesn't achieve this.
I simply click on the clip in the timeline to highlight it with the yellow margin. I then click on one "edge" with the arrows symbol and drag the edge inwards. This then leaves the space I do not want.
As for "Preferences" when I click this under "Final Cut Pro" i see nothing either relevant to this problem or that I could trash.

At the moment, when I drag a still picture from Viewer window to the Canvas window, a default 10-sec duration of the still picture will appear on the timeline.
How do I set this default to 8 seconds ?
I tried looking at User Preference and System Preference but cannot locate them. Maybe I miss them ?

Mine was set to 12 secs & I always got 10 seconds.
Now I set to 12 secs & I got 8 seconds.
It looks like it is always 2 seconds less from what you set ?

How can I change the position and duration of the title?

Let me clarify my question... Position of the text/title:
I would like to place multiple titles on one image. Which looks something like this---
title 1
title 2
title 3
title 4
title 5
title 6
title 7
title 8
title 9
title 10
Now, I would like each title to appear for the duration of 0:01 to 0:05 sec. In sequence to the title above. Just a quick flash of the title.
How can this be done in iMovie 10.0.5??
You see, I attempt to change the time duration of the titles from 1.0s to 0.05s and it doesn't allow me to do it.
You will probably ask me why I want to do this... I am creating my own subliminal affirmation video slideshow. I already have the audio for it in Garageband.

Premiere CS4 Crashes every time I try to trim a title in the timeline!!!!!

I am using a .psd file with a 65% opacity setting in the video 2 timeline and placing a series of title boxes over it to use as caption to a how to videos of a lab protocol. you cab take a look at what I'm doing at http://149.250.6.10/sandbox.asp Every damn time I try to do anything to a title box on the timeline, the damn application crashes. I am using an HP z800 with 12 gb of ram, and an aja card for realtime screen playback. Is there anyone who can offer some advice please? this is so frustrating. I wasted my entire saturday fighting this. The error reads "Premiere Pro has encountered an error. [..\..\Src\LegacyTime.cpp-91]
