.default files and Apache logs in 10g AS(10.1.2.3)

Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle 10g AS (10.1.2.3) and i have some .default files in my Middle Tier and Infra home like
httpd.conf.default , access.conf.default.....
Is it safe to remove these files?
Will these files cause any Vulnerability issue on my server?
Also will Apache Log files cause Vulnerability issue on my server?
Please clarify
Regards,
DB

Default files are there as a backup for those files. If you happen to modify your files without saving a copy then this would take you back to how a typical httpd.conf (for instance, or plsql.conf or sso.properties, etc) would look like.
I do not think they are any greater source of vulnerability than any other backup files you have on your server. I do not delete them either and wouldn't from any of the servers that I administer.
thanks,
AMN

  • Default Files and Folders in my Canvio Slim II

When I first connected my Canvio Slim II to my PC, I noticed a batch of files and folders which are default inside the device. I feel messed while I used to see WD used a separate Drive for setup and other files.
Q: If I move all those default files and folders into one folder any problem may raise? If I plan to use NTi Backup and restore, no problem if I move them?

  • Default File and Folder Permissions

    Hello everyone,
Is there anyway to set a default file/folder permissions for a parent folder and then if any new files or folders get created within that folder that files use 0644 and folder use 0755? I'm running MAMP for a localhost test site to run Joomla CMS, I have the parent folder set to 0755 but when ever I install a new extension in to Joomla the files are not writable. Is there a way I can set the main parant plublic_html / www folder to work like this for new child files and folders?
    Thanks guys.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Why Oracle XML parser do not compile this file and Apache does?

    Hi:
I am trying to parse this xml file:
    http://cvs.apache.org/viewcvs.cgi/xml-cocoon2/documentation/xdocs/userdocs/xsp/logicsheet-concepts.xml?rev=1.2&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup
and fails with the tag <anchor id="logicsheet"/>, if I change
"logicsheet" to "id_lg" it works fine.
Apache XML parsers do not have this problem.
    Best regards, Marcelo.

I tried downloading the file and (after removing the DOCTYPE
since I didn't want to download the whole set of DTD's) it
    parses fine with XDK 9.0.2C
    Which XDK are you using?
If you remove the <!DOCTYPE> line for a test, does it still fail?

  • Password file and sysdba grant in 10g on AIX ...

    Hi,
I am very familiar with password file, orapwd ...
I installed oracle 10gR2 database on AIX, created a password file using orapwd (file name orapwdSID.ora under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs), set remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE' in init.ora file.
    1 - When I select * from v$pwfile_users; I get 0 rows !!!
2 - When I try to grant sysdba to an_user; I get ORA-01994: GRANT failed: password file missing or disabled
Cause: The operation failed either because the INIT.ORA parameter REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE was set to NONE or else because the password file was missing.
Action: Create the password file using the orapwd tool and set the INIT.ORA parameter REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE to EXCLUSIVE.
    any idea.
    thanks.

    Hi,
I do not think so that this is a solution. because setting "Shared" means that all databases uses the same password file and only one user "SYS" is in this file (sysdba privilege) ...
Not what I am looking for !
    regards.

  • Upgrade the default Tomcat and Apache

    Hi
Is there a working and correct way to upgrade and run a Tomcat and Apache server of your pick instead of the pre installed versions in OSX 10.4.8 server.
Meaning that i want to start and admin them throught Server Admin interface, and making Jboss notice the new Tomcat aswell.
    Mikael

If you're asking here, the answer is probably no.
It is possible to build and install later versions of all the Mac OS X Server-bundled apps, including Apache, Tomcat, postfix, bind, etc., etc., but in most cases once you do you lose the ability to drive them via Server Admin.
Server Admin knows what it knows - more importantly it doesn't know any of the features of later versions of the apps (it may work with point released (e.g. Apache 1.3.20 -> 1.3.30, but it won't work with major versions like 1.3 -> 2.0).
So if you go that way you're on your own as far as configuring and maintaining the service is concerned.
Leopard (10.5) will include later versions of these apps if you're prepared to wait.

  • Difference between InDesign Defaults file and InDesign SavedData file

    Hi,
I would like to know (as written in the topic title) the difference between these 2 files. I know that preferences are stored in these files, but I need more accurate informations. I opened each in TextWrangler but, even if I understand some infos, I can't understand the function of each of these 2 files.
    Thanks!

I can't provide all of the answers to this, but I do know that the open recent list is in SavedData, and all of the doc and print resets are in InDesign Defaults, along with your customized preference settings. Does that help?

  • Where do i see all the default tables and views in oracle 10g

    hi,
I have installed oracle 10g in the linux os.
I just wanna see the list of deffault tables and views created by oracle.
can anyoone hlep me on this
    thanx in advance....

Check DBA_OBJECTS for all seeded objects in an Oracle database. For tables, check DBA_TABLES. For views, check DBA_VIEWS. All of this is documented in the fine documentation - take some time out to read thru it.

  • Default username and password for Oracle 10g

I have installed Oracle 10g Standard edition on my PC, but do not know the username and password to login. Does anyone know the username and password?
    Thanks,
    YR

    Hello,
Did you create database using dbca after installation or you choose to created during install?
If you did you can create scott schema using this
    sql> @\Oracle\product\10.2.0\...\RDBMS\ADMIN\scott.sql
You can login as sysdba and see if scott user created for you, offcourse if you have created database using DBCA or during isntall in first place.
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    Sql> select username , status from dba_users where username='SCOTT';
I strongly recommend you to create new database using DBCA and it will let you walk thru all the steps.

  • RAID for control and red log files

I'm considering one of these two configurations
    Option 1:
2 disks kept as separate disks (not using RAID), storing control01.ctl, redo log group 1 on first disk, and storing control02.ctl, and redo log group 2 on second disk.
    Option 2:
2 disks configured as a RAID 1+0 volume (mirroring and striping) holding control01.ctl and a redo log group.
(Data files and third control file are elsewhere on the disk array.)
With option 1, I have the option of dropping a control file and dropping a redo log group if a disk fails and then continuing processing. But with option 2, if the RAID array fails, I'm sunk.
I'm thinking option 1 is better. What do others think? And why?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris Curzon

Your Raid option has the following advantage: since it mirrors things, a person can [accidently or maliciously] simultaneously remove all control files and redo logs with a single remove command, effectively crashing the database into near unrecoverability.
Option 1 would have the disadvantage - for the person identified above - in that they would need two separate commands to ruin the system.
But, with simple mirroring, between the first and second command, the system would have halted and hopefully alerted someone that a weird but recoverable thing is happening. And the DBA would be able to get going simply by copying the mirrored file to the other, removed, location.

To make it clear - the advantage is NOT on the DBA's side ...

  • Tomcat servlet/JSP container default files on 10gAS(10.1.2.0.2)

    Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on windows
I have the Vulnerability: Apache Tomcat servlet/JSP container default files.
and the fix is Review the files and delete those that are not needed.
i would like to know the location of the files to review and delete. Please suggest?
    Regards,
    DB

Apache/Tomcat is not related to OAS, where did you get this info? OAS is based in a Orion Web Server and Apache HTTP Server, not Tomcat.
For this kind of problems there are the CPU you may want to check in Metalink for them.
Can you clarify also what default files?
    Greetings.

  • Problem with Virtual Hosts Individual Config Files and OSX 10.7 Lion (AllowOverride Setting)

I am hoping some other Xserve users running OSX 10.7 (Lion) can offer some additional input or help in a couple of issues I am running into with the Apache settings on my server.
Below is an example site config file on our server. We are hosting a number of sites and are using .htaccess files and apache's rewrite module to create vanity URLs. In order for the .htaccess files to be used AllowOverride has to be set to "All" instead of "None"
The problem I am running into is everytime I stop and restart the web service on the machine it keeps changing this setting back in the individual site configuration files. I will change it to AllowOverride All and next time the server has to be restarted or the web service has to be restarted it is defaulting every site back to None which has become quite frustrating.
Is there somewhere I can set this default setting to prevent this from occuring and forcing every site and site config to default to "AllowOverride All" ?
Should I be researching this somewhere specific? OSX 10.7 changed the entire Apache Interface and the manner in which it runs and I am finding little to no documentation on it.

Are you using the default Server.app, or have you downloaded and installed the (proper) Server Admin tools?
Server Admin.app isn't included as part of the Lion Server distribution, but if you download it and install it you get the same set of admin tools as you're used to with previous versions. From there you should be able to set the 'Allow All Overrides' setting for your site.

  • RPC client access log and IIS log, difference??

RPC logging is in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access" by default.
And IIS logs is in "C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1" by default.
Just want to know which client will generate which Log?
For example, exchange server 2010 supports:
    Outlook Web App
    Outlook anywhere
    Exchange ActiveSync
    POP3 and IMAP4
    Autodiscover
So far as I know, "exchange activesync" is always appear in IIS log. But outlook users(all in domain), most of them are always appear in RPC log, but sometime a few users appear in IIS log.
    For example:(IIS log)
    2014-03-31 00:01:51 172.23.0.100 POST /EWS/Exchange.asmx - 443 TEST\alice 172.26.0.41 Microsoft+Office/14.0+(Windows+NT+6.1;+Microsoft+Outlook+14.0.7116;+Pro) - 200 0 0 312
    RPC log:
    2014-03-31T00:42:09.964Z,1024,1,/o=first organization/ou=exchange administrative group(fydibohf23spdlt) /cn=recipients/cn=alice,,OUTLOOK.EXE,14.0.7108.5000,Cached,,,ncacn_http,,OwnerLogon,0,00:00:00.0156287,,
I want to understand the logging rules, please help?

    Hi, Steve:
Thanks very much for your reply. I have a question to your reply here.
RPC-->Outlook clients, and then EWS(includes Outlook 2011??) What's the difference between Outlook clients and Outlook 2011(I think it should be 2010?), but is that Outlook 2010 not belong to 'Outlook clients'?
    Best Regards,
    Ryo
