Default font changed on Safari sites

My headline type has changed to outline on some of the web pages, specifically wordpress and facebook. How do I change it back? I don't see anything in the preferences either on my Safari page or in either of those applications.

waddesig--
That a free Outline font that you have installed on your Mac.  Did you download a bunch of cheap fonts in the last few days?
Open up your Font Book application, and check to see if you get duplicate or conflict warnings.
Let us know what you find, OK?

  • Setting default font size in Safari

Hi. I like to set my font size in Safari to one level below the default. I usually do this everytime I open up a Safari window and hit Command+Minus or go to View > make text smaller. Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way I could set this to default so I did not have to do it everytime I launched Safari?

    mrurmil --
You can go into the main Safari Menu, (upper left of top Menu)
    Go to Preferences>Advanced
and then lower the size font designated in
"Never use font sizes smaller than _"
Mine's set to 9 which is pretty small,
but I like it better. I believe it was set to 11 or 12 natively.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I increase default font size in Safari?

I know about doing a reverse "pinch" of the screen to increase font size in Safari, but is there a way to set a larger default font size?

  • Default font changed

Today I downloaded three new fonts from dafont.com and now the default font for some web pages and areas of text has changed.(Including Google and Youtube search results.)
I tried changing the default font back to Arial but it still looks the same. The new font is more rounded, thin and so narrowly spaced to the point it is hard to read. This problem is not present in any browser except Firefox.
How can I change it back?

You can do a check for corrupted fonts and other font issues:

  • Fonts changing on Safari and email at times

I started having parts of web pages and emails coming up in a runic font I have on my computer. I deleted it because it started this - but it hasn't gone away. I figured out how to view my emails in last alternative version, but how can I change my safari pages to be able to see them in english - kind of hard to read in runic and not be able to convert in my head Not sure what happened or how to fix and prevent in future. Tried everything I can think of but no luck. And not all pages or emails come up in that font - and on some pages jsut part of it mixed with English titles. All works but still.... Thanks in advance

OK - It isn't in the trash and I restarted after I had trashed it. However - I now know how ot use the FOnt Book verifying part and jsut spent a few minutes verifying all my fonts that didn't come with my machine - and found 2 other fonts like Runic but labelled differently - that weren't liked by it - so I removed them and then cleared trash and then rebooted - and it appears they are gone - the web page is loading normally now! YEAH!! Now to find a source for both an acceptable Runic/Futhark font as well as an Ogham font that works on my Mac Suggestions welcome!
Thank You! Will give it a day before i marked it answered in case it doesn't keep working! LOL

  • Default font change after upgrade

I'm NOT very technical....Downloaded most recent upgrade (10.6.8 I think)..Font/text and size changed for everything. How do I restore pls.

    Hi, Bob -
Does this also apply to various websites I access?
No - the items I mentioned apply only to Finder views, meaning to items on the Desktop and open folders.
The chosen font and size of font in a browser is controlled from within the browser (as is true for most every program). If you are using Safari, open its Preferences (in the Safari menu in the main menubar), click Appearance in the header. In the new screen you can change the defaults. Howevrer, it is not unusual for a webpage itself to override those settings.
Other programs often (but not always) have similar adjustments available.
Things you can do if webpages and other things remain too small -
    • In most browsers, pressing Command + (Command and the + key, which on the short keyboards is the = key (meaning do not add Shift)) will increase the size of the text displayed on the page. This is a step up function, so subsequent presses will increase it further. To reduce the text size, press Command -
    • You can use Screen Zoom, which is always available by default (it can be turned off in the Mouse pane in System Preferences). To use Screen Zoom you need to have a Magic Mouse; if you do, hold down the Control key and use the finger-gesture for scroll up (stroke away from you). This will enlarge the entire screen display, centered more or less on the location of the cursor. To bring it back, hold down the Control key and use the scroll-down finger-gesture (stroke toward you).
    • You can also activate the Zoom feature in the Universal Access pane in Stsrem Preferences; in that pane click the Seeing item near the top to switch to that page.
    • Check the resolution setting for the display in System Preferences > Displays - it may have got changed from what it should be. What the default is depends on your model, mainly the screen size.

  • Font change in Safari and Firefox after installing Snow Leopard...

My apologies if this has been addressed:
Immediately after updating from 10.5.8 to 10.6.2 the fonts displayed in both Safari and Firefox have changed. They are now a barely-legible "handwritten" font. I have attempted to resolve the issue to no avail. The issue only seems to be present with Safari and Firefox- there are no applications (that I have noticed yet*) that are affected. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, NYeBeing & welcome to discussions
I have attempted to resolve the issue to no avail.
What steps have you taken, exactly, so we don't repeat, etc. I'll assume you've already used OS X's FontBook to check font health & remove dupes, and you've cleared existing font caches using Snow Leopard compatible tools such as QnyX or FontDoctor.

  • Font Changing on Web Site

I created a website using a font called Litterbox. Everything looks great when I visit the web site on my laptop, but when viewing it on my friend's computer the font was completely different. Is there a way that I can prevent this from happening?

The reason your font is not showing on your friends computer is not because of internet explorer. It is because that person does not have that exact same font on their computer. The only way to solve this for iweb is to add a shadow effect to the text you wish to use.
    - Select the text (not the text box) that you want that is not "websafe"
    - Go to inspector -> graphic tab and check the shadow box
    - Then on that same plane, change the opacity to 1%
    - Save and publish
Pros: The font you see is what every viewer will see no matter the OS or browser
Cons: The text is now converted into an image and is no longer selectable by the viewer and is not readable by search engine spiders. This part only matters if you're worried about SEO. If SEO is something that matters to you then use iWeb SEOTools (Free) and add meta tags to that now texted image.
Remember only shadow the text and not the textbox and make sure the opacity is set to 1%.... unless you want shadow to be seen then set it up to 99%... For some reason on my end, setting it to either 0 or 100 does not work. So keep it between 1 and 99.

  • I can't seem to set a default font size in Safari 6.0. I can zoom in and zoom out, but everytime I close the window and reopen, it's back to being huge again. Any suggestions? To be clear, I'm trying to make the font size smaller.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

In Safari > Preferences > Advanced the smallest the font size can be set to is 9.

  • Sent mail has not the default font

    Hi,
Users complain that Groupwise changes the font when they use the "sent to" option in Microsoft Word. Has this behaviour changed since Groupwise 8? How can I set the font so that it is the same in every situation?
We use Groupwise 2012, version 12.0.1.16521.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Joost,
I've done some checking with Novell and it would appear that this is a bug in the GroupWise 2012 client - Bug 796126 - Default font changes, using mail to from Excel and Word
The bug describes exactly the symptom that you are seeing, and, was not present in the V8 of the client. Unfortunately I do not know when the targeted date for a fix will be

  • Default Font in Safari Won't Change After Upgrade to Leopard

Hey - I just upgraded my iMac from Tiger to Leopard and everything went great; however, when I use Safari, my default font is something random. I tried changing it to anything different but it stays the same (in Safari>Pref's>Appearance). I even tried re-installing it. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

We're left with two things, both of which may be somewhat time-consuming.
The first is to use the new user account you created and migrate all your programs and settings that work over to it, and then delete the old user account, or:
Do an Archive & Install, with Preserve Users and Network Settings. This will give you a completely new installation of 10.5 and move the old one to a folder named Previous System, which you can then delete. All your users and network settings will be preserved, but you will need to use Software Update afterward to bring your system current.

  • How to change the default font size in X11?

I was a PC/linux user and have switched to use Mac lately (MBP Snow leopard 10.6.8).
Everything's been running perfectly on Mac so far and I really like it, until I have to run some programs on XQuartz/X11 (XQuart 2.7.0).
The default font size in the Xterm is too small. And I hate it that I have to change it everytime i open a new terminal (via vt fonts menu, ctrl+right-mouse click).
Is there a way to change the default font size "permanently" in XQuartz/X11 ??
This may be a stupid question to ask in the developer forum but i cant really solve it.
There's only config. file ~/.Xdefaults they have mentioned so far on Google but i really cant find it regarding to the directorty.
Thank you very much in advance.

You would be surprised to find out that is not like this, to get your account blocked you really need to do a lot of damage and posts are not removed unless they are illegal, and *always* it needs more than a person to delete something. That's a site managed by the community, not by some people put in place by a company.
It is always acceptable to link to external resources as long these resources do provide additional usefull information. Clearly the thread on that side contained much more information than the one here. I observed people linking from there to this forum, but it's not so common, and that's not due to the policy, just because here is more chat and less usefull information.... you will not see endless threads of replies on with "yes, I have the same problem" there.
Shortly, this is "discussions" and is quite different in approach than the SE model, where everythign is aimed towards getting the be answers UP and removing all the nonsense.
I wish that Apple would invest more in discussion, and going towards making this more practical.
