Default Handset Volume

A while ago I was trying to adjust my default ringer volume to ring at the maximum volume, but instead made the handset's speaker volume default to its maximum every single time the handset is activated.
So for example, I place or receive a call and I hear the other person at maximum volume so I have to turn down the volume.  It used to be that it would stay at that volume even after hanging up and making another call.  But now, every time a new call is made the volume resets to the maximum volume.
When I go to my Blackberry's Help menu, the instructions tell me I can fix this by going to Options > General Options, but General Options do not exist.  How do I either a) get General Options to appear or b) change the feature that resets the handset volume?
I have a BlackBerry 8830 World Edition, OS 4.5 and use Verizon.  A battery pull did not fix the problem.
Thank you!

You may want to check the operating system version that you have, there may be a newer one from your service provider. I have 4.6.0.180 and I don't have that problem. You could also try a battery pull, that will fix many OS glitches.

  • Can i alter the default start volume of Ipod shuffle?

I would love the ipod shuffles i am using in a show to have a higher (maximum) starting volume. The default starting volume is pretty low.
    is this possible?
I have seen various things online that make me think it is possible on a windows machine - but i am on a macbook air.
    any ideas?

Yeah - I tried that - it didnt really help.
you can alter the volume on windows machines by doing the following  (i think) -
"On your shuffle there is a file called
    <driveletter>:\iPod_Control\Device\ExtendedSysInfoXml
open the file with notepad or a text editor search for a string:
MinVolumeLevel set the integer number to 16... that should do the trick"
is there not a wayof doing that on a mac?

  • Setting Default Bluetooth Volume

I have a Storm 9550 from Verizon with Version 5.0.0.607 software and use a Jawbone 2 bluetooth.  Whenever the bluetooth is disconnected from the 9550, upon reconnection the volume is at the lowest possible level.  There was a setting I used previous that allow me to set the default bluetooth volume at the maximum level.  I cannot find that setting any longer, or the new software does not allow that option.  What can I do to increase the default volume on my bluetooth?

Take a look at BlueHarvest instead. Although not free ($13.95). it has options that allow you to keep custom icon files while deleting the others.

  • Default Quicktime Volume Control

    13Apr07
I have a problem streaming program. Microsoft stopped supporting Widows Media Player for the Mac.
Micosoft has a application FLIP4MAC-MWV which will either open a window in Safari or has the option of opening a window in Quicktime.
My problem is: The volume level in Quicktime is too high when the stream begins. I use Wiretap Pro to record radio streams while I am at work. The default high volume distorts the recording.
I have tried and tried again to change the default volume level to a middle level, but the stream starts at max volume. How do I change that?
I also have the same problem with the Safari window level.
Can anyone tell me how to adjust the default volume in Quicktime and Safari?
Thank you for reading this post and greater thanks for any recommendations.

  • Handset Volume very low problem

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with my handset? When in speaker mode when making a call it is fantastic. But when in handset mode you can't hear a thing it is very low. I have tried setting the default volume to 100% and even installed a new OS. Can anyone help me please?

    1. System Preferences >  Flash Player > Advanced >  Delete  All
         Press the "Delete All" button.
    2. Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Press the”Details” button. A sheet will drop down.
Enter YouTube in the search box at the top right corner.
Highlight the YouTube entries that shows up.
Click the “Remove” button at the bottom, then “Done”.
    3. Increase the volume.

  • Change default audio volume from 75 to some other value

We are running Solaris with CDE. The sound volume is too high when
we reboot the machine. We can change it with
    /usr/dt/share/bin/sdtaudio or /usr/openwin/bin/audiocontrol with a GUI
slider down to about 20. The default is 75. This works fine until we
reboot the machine, and then it goes back to 75, which is too high. I
can certainly add a boot script to change the value but I don't know
    what to use. Things like
    audioplay -v 20
just don't persist across reboots but I don't think this is the proper
    method to change it anyway.
We are actually running Solaris 8 but I'm hoping this isn't an inherent limitation.
    TIA.

  • Default notification volume now 1/2 since upgrade

Before the upgrade my "default notification" was maxed out in volume and very very loud on all my sounds.
Since the upgrade the MAX volume level now 1/2 even though the slider is maxed out.
I have all the volume levels maxed out.
My ringtones volume appears to be unaffected.
What am I missing. Is there some new setting with this upgrade I am missing?
Nothing has changed on my side.

  • Oracle 11.2 default instance volume is 50 GiB - How can I increase size?

    Hi,
I created an ebs Oracle 11.2 instance that defaulted to a volume size of 50GiB.
Does anyone know how to increase the volume size to 300GiB?
    This didn't work:
I created another volume (300Gib), attached it to the instance, mounted the drive, but when I ran the Oracle install script - that drive didn't show up:
Select a disk device to store your datafiles and redo logs on:
    ID DEVICE_NAME
    [0] Refresh List
    [1] Use Default
    [2] /dev/sdc1
    Thanks.

  • MBP default sound volume settings

I've been searching this in other forums and machelp discussions, but I really can't find how to do this.
How do you make the sound volume default? Mine is set to the highest every time I turn on my computer and I have to set it lower every single time, ugh.
    Much is appreciated

Do you have snow leopard? Did this start happening since snow leopard? If so, you may have this bug:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2168257&tstart=0
I've talked to apple, the product specialists, etc and they are all stumped. They keep saying they will call me back with more info or a solution once they hear back from the developers. This stated with my mothers iMac, and now my macbook pro suffers from it, both stated after updating to snow leopard.

  • Default Sound Volume after starting Mac after Windows?

Ok, so on my Macbook Pro, when i start up my computer in Windows XP, and then back to Mac, my volume is always half way up, which sometimes i forget, and something goes off in class and its not cool. Is there a way to change it so when it starts up it always is muted? I know if u restart it from Mac to Mac, it stays at the same level, but Windows seems to mess with this.

  • Mountain Lion default headphone volume deafening

    Hello,
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and whenever I reboot and insert my headphones I am deafened as the volume automatically goes to full volume.  This is only occuring after rebooting, not after adjusting the volume and re-inserting the headphones.  Suggestions to fix this?
    Thanks!

Open Terminal (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and copy/paste this command into the Terminal window:
    rm /Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist
press 'return' on the keyboard and restart the computer.
    Any improvement?

  • Change default volume steps from 16 to 64 steps

    Hi,
I want to change my volume step settings (16) in a default setting volume settings of 64 steps.
I want this because the 16 steps are to big for me as a sound engineer. I know it can be done with key **** + option + volume, but I dont want to press those key commands every time I change the volume.
So anyone out there can help me?
    Thanx,

  • Making Bootcamp Volume Default Boot Disk

I have just created a Bootcamp Partition on one of my Volumes. When I use it, I want to make this partition my default boot volume so that if I am doing Windows Installs that require Windows to do an automatic reboot, it will boot back into Windows not my normal MacOS X system. This means that an Option Boot will not be adequate since that just overrides the Boot Volume for THIS boot but not for the next boot (or reboot). To make it permanent, I must use the Startup Disk preference to select the volume. This is where I am running in problems. I have 4 separate boot partitions and used a barebones 10.6.1 partition to do the creation of the Bootcamp Partition. When I boot into that partition (or do an Option Boot) I see the Bootcamp volume for selection. If I boot into any other MacOS X partition (including a 2nd MacOS 10.6.1 one) or my normal 10.5.8 Partition (which I plan to clone copy into the barebones partition after erasing it and upgrade to 10.6.1) I do not see the Windows volume in the Startup Disk menu (although the disk is on my Desktops so it is being seen as a normal disk).
How, if possible do I make the Bootcamp Volume available to ALL my Boot Partitions for selection via their Startup Disk Preference. I am holding off on doing the Clone and Upgrade due to my fear that once I do it there will be no way to select the Bootcamp volume via Startup Disk and thus I will need to hold Option every time I boot or Windows reboots. I know that I could Option Boot to get to Windows and then use the Bootcamp Menu to select the bootcamp partition as default and then reboot to make it permanent) but I would rather not have to go through this hassle.
    Thank you.

Yes I did the Bootcamp install under Windows (by using the MacOS X DVD).
As I stated, the ability to set Windows as the default Boot Volume works with the MacOS X Partition that I used to do the Boot Camp Assistant execution and the Windows Partition itself (ie: When running Windows). I can also do an Option Boot to boot into Windows (but that does not make it the default volume).
My problem is that aside from the partition that I was booted into when I ran Boot Camp Assistant, I have OTHER MacOS System Partitions that I boot and none of them see the Bootcamp Partition in their Startup Disk Menu (only the one that created the Bootcamp Partition). While I know that I can Option Boot into Windows, set the partition as default, and the reboot to make it take, I would like to avoid the need to do that useless 2nd boot just to set the default boot volume.
