Default ical window

Hi,
I am using Ical and have set it up in sync with gmail calendar. So, I can also see my colleagues´ calendars as "Delegates".
However, everytime I start up Ical, it loads all the delegates and then end only showing a calendar of 1 of the delegates.
However, I´d prefer seeing all calendars together. To accomplish this I now always have to hit cmd-0 after starting ical.
Any ideas to make this automatic / set the default ical view/window?

Delegates and default iCal window

Hi,
I use MobileMe and iCal for my main calendars, but have one calendar I share with a Google calendar user. We both have read & write priveleges. I see my colleague's calendar listed under "Delegates" on the left hand menu, but also under [email protected]
Everytime I start up Ical, it loads the delegate calendar, and I have to go to the Window menu and select "iCal".
How can I set the default iCal window to show all my calendars?

Itunes as default in Windows 8.1

I got a new keyboard that has a media shortcut button on it. When I am in the "set program access and computer defaults" screen I click on iTunes to be the default media player, it sets it then takes me back to the default program window. If I go back and look, my Itunes setting is removed and changed to use current media player. My default app is set to Itunes but this media keyboard shortcut isn't working.
What am I doing wrong

Without knowing more details I'd hazard a guess that this is an inconsistency or incompatibility between Windows and your keyboard, and not in iTunes issue. Hot keys are programmed to execute a specific function in Windows - in this case to launch iTunes - and there is no direct connection with iTunes itself. I would check to see if there is a Windows 8.1 specific driver available for the keyboard and see if that resolves the issue.

HT2513 I have an iCal calendar downloaded and I can't find it in any calendar listings. I've read the above article, but I can't even find my iCal window (don't know where my applications folder or dock is and a search of the iPhone turns up nothing)...

I can't find my iCal window to try to get rid of this iCal calendar I downloaded, but want to delete. I can't seem to find the applications folder or dock that I've heard the iCal window is in. A search of the iPhone won't turn either up. Can someone please help?

Removing AddressBar, StatusBar from Default Application Window

Hi,
I want to hide address bar from default application window!
This application would be triggered from a link in another (web dynpro / non-web dynpro) application.
And user should not be able to see where he is gets navigated.
So, is there anyway we can hide address bar from default application window of a Web Dynpro application?

I already tried this code. But what it does is, it opens same window as new window in main application window.. so on screen I see two windows.. one parent window with URL clearly seen and 2nd child window which doesn't have address bar
So this is not as I need.
Are you getting my point?

Can I set a default finder window style?

I would like to set a default Finder window style that will affect all windows, new and old. I am able to set my default style to list, but I want to go beyond that. I want my windows to be lists, with only certain columns visible, I want the columns to be set to specific widths, and I want the windows to open as if the green button in the corner had been pressed.
In Windows it is fairly easy to set a default Explorer window style with this level of setting. Can I do it on my Mac? Some setting I am missing, or some third party program?

Just two of many that you shouldn't be worried about. These will reveal everything I know about them:
ls -al /dev/
ls -al /dev/fd/
I haven't a clue why running this is hanging up on your machine:
sudo find / -name ".DS_Store" -exec rm {} \;
As for why you're you're still having issues after setting up the initial folder, I haven't a clue, since it worked here when I had an issue with it.

4870 and Vista...games are mostly defaulted to windowed mode???

Hi all!
I'm using the latest catalyst 8.1 driver and Vista Home Premium SP1. Using Samsung 22" (1680x1050)
i reinstalled Company of Heroes with latest patch and just installed Farcry 2.
When i fired up COH, it usually defaulted to windowed mode. So i have to like change it manually most of the time to full screen mode. i thought it's just COH until i install Farcry 2. FYI, i ran this 2 games in DX10.
Farcry 2 doesn't have the option to switch to full screen mode, thus it always started in windowed mode. The window is like "shifted" down ward. you can see the window bar on top but you can't see the side and bottom bars. So the game is inside the downward shifted window. When i ran the Farcry 2 benchmark tool, it says i'm running in window mode. Everytime i switched it to full screen, and start the game, it went back to the same window mode.
can anyone offer me any advice?

ICal Window Popping into view...

Has anyone experienced this issue: (on a MacBook Pro 15')
You open up your iCal window, look at your calendars, then drag the window off to one side or the other of your screen (to temporarily get it out of the way, but still see it on the desktop) and then as you start to move your mouse to another application, the iCal window pops fully back into the main view of the screen. It will not stay off to the side, it keeps wanting to be fully within the main screen. Other applications are not exhibiting this behavior (at least not that have been noticed yet).

Is this something that only happens on a MacBook Pro? I have also seen this happen but only on MacBook Pro machines. I also have a MacBook and an iMac G5 that behave perfectly. Wondering if anyone has found anymore insight into this small but annoying problem.

Strange iCal Window Issue

Howdy,
I cannot get the little event editor window to appear. If I double click to create/edit an event as I usually would nothing happens. Even if pressing command E nothing appears. Strangely enough though, when I swipe down to expose all the windows on my desktop the event editor appears ontop of the ical window. Yet trying to click it - nothing happens. Anyone ever seen this before?

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
One of the first things to try is "refresh" the com.apple.iCal.plist file. You will find the com.apple.iCal.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder. Quit iCal, drag the .plist file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and check iCal for normal behavior.

Default browser window from HTML

I am just building a simple HTML app and want to open a new window to an existing web page from the air app that opens in a default browser window rather than spawining a new air window.
I have been banging my apparently limited-capacity head against a wall for 8 hours now with no luck.
Can anyone tell me how to get this done? I am guessing it's as simple as adding a piece of code to my app xml file and a corresponding piece of code to my HTML page where I have the link?
Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

I have a similar problem:
I have built a web app for the iPhone which works splendidly in AIR, except that it's links to external sites will not open in the default browser.
Currently I have one HTML file in the AIR app: redirect.html which simply redirects to my web app.
If I set <script>window.htmlLoader.navigateInSystemBrowser = true;</script> the redirect to my web app opens in Firefox instead of AIR. If I set that on the home page (and all subpages) of my web app it's as if nothing was ever set.
I am new to AIR so I am making these assumptions:
window.htmlLoader.navigateInSystemBrowser = true; must be set on the first page loaded by the AIR app.
server-hosted pages cannot open anything in the default browser.
Is there are a way to set it up so my AIR version of the web app can simply mirror locally the code from my server, thus allowing me to access the default browser? I have tried an iframe which actually just caused the web app to load in Firefox like the redirect.
Any advice would be helpful.

Changing Default Finder Window

On my old iMac, I was able to change the default Finder window (when you clicked on it in the dock) from my home drive to my desktop, but now I can't remember how to do it. Any tips?
AKA: When I click on Finder in the dock, I don't want it to open up to my user window, I want it to open up to the desktop folder.

At the Finder menu bar, go to Finder > Preferences > General.
Under "New Finder windows open:", select the radio button to the right of the current selection and at the pop-up menu that appears, select Other and then select Desktop.

Restarting bootcamped iMac defaults into Windows Xp

I am in macos x now. Whenever I restart my computer, it always boots by default in windows xp, when i didnt even hold the command key to choose winxp partition.
So now when I restart, i must always press the command key to boot into OS X.
any solution?

Yes, easy. It tells you how in the Boot Camp manual... but here it is to save you digging out the PDF
To use the Startup Disk control panel in Windows XP:
1. In Windows XP, choose Start > Control Panel
If you are in Category View, click “Performance and Maintenance.”
2. Double-click the 'Startup Disk' control panel.
3. Select the operating system you want to use by default.
4. If you want to start up that operating system now, click Restart.
Et voila!
By the way, there is a similar app in OS X system preferences.

Lion default login window

In Snow Leopard, aka 10.6, I had a default login window setup that could be easily changed (both the desktop image and the text message contained in the actual login windor) to allow messages to be inserted so that students could be made aware of various things affecting the use of the computer. I upgraded a 10.6 system that was setup with this configuration to 10.7. Now the login window is simply a flat grey screen with the Apple logo and a rather tiny window in which you enter your username and password. There is no space where message text could be included in the login window.
The manner the 10.6 customized login window image was created was to create a .jpg of the correct size and then store it in the administrator account's Public folder. Then the defaults write /Library/Preferences/ com.apple.loginwindow DesktopPicture was pointed to get the picture from that Administraor's Public folder.
Is there some way I can achieve the same funcionality in Lion?

Follow up to get a single window full screen I had to make some changes in the initial image I was using.
I had a full screen .jpg that worked perfectly on Snow Leopard. When I put it into Lion, it was small and tiled 12 images across the screen. I took the image to Photoshop, disabled resampling, changed resolution to a smaller dpi resolution. (I went to 72) had to size the image to the max screen resoltion on the iMac 27" then rename it to the NS Textured..... and then install it in place of the existing NSFullSc.... as listed below. This does require admin privlieges but I did not have to go to Root to accomplish it.
/System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/Resources/NSTexturedFullS creenBackgroundColor.png.
That allowed it to fill the entire login screen.
Now, at least I can modify the image in photoshop to include the additional text that partains to that particular set of lab computers. It is not as easy as it was in Snow Leopard where I could simply put the image I wanted to use in my public folder and point the software to that image. that way I could easily use Apple Remote Desktop to change the screen to what is current for that day. There may be a way to do this in Lion but I do not have the time to research that now.

I keep getting an error message on the blue screen of death. Beginning dump of physical memory. To fix it a messgae board said "when the ACPI mode is enabled (by default) under Windows 2000. To fix the problem, replace the gpibpci.sys file on your machine with the one that is attached below and then reboot the machine." Where do i go to add this file?

I will get this error randomly, once when I was opening a file on another computer on my network, once when I was logging onto to my bank website on the internet, and another when I was searching through my d drive. Nothing to difficult, I do not even have other programs running when it happens sometimes. Thanks for any help!
