Default Illustrator CC color swatch?

Is it possible to make changes to the default color swatch and have those changes appear as the default color swatch whenever you open Illustrator CC?

Do you know how to get to your user preferences in Windows? They are in HD/Users/<yourname>/Library/Application Support/Adobe Illustrator CSx/en_US/New Document profiles on a Mac. It something like Apps/Roaming/ on a Windows. Make the changes to the document profile you use most or make another AI file with all the stuff you want to show up in your new document and save it there.

  • Adobe Illustrator CC: Color Swatches and Default Brushes Don't Start Up When Opening Illustrator

I'm a digital media teacher with 9 lab computers that carry Creative Cloud. When some of my students open Illustrator, all they have available in the swatch panel is black (no hue swatches, no gradients, no patterns)  and they have no brushes loaded. How can I get the standard default settings that my other students have to load?
    Thank you!

How do they crete a new document?
When you open something from somewhere, then there are just the swatches whoever left in the document.
When you instead Use File > New and then select a standard document profile, you get the default swatches.

  • Why does my color swatches disappear randomly?

    I have a MAC and use CS4.
Sometimes when I use illustrator my color swatches are there and easy to access, change colors or values....blahlblahblah
Other times I have no color swatches in my color window, and no slider bars in the color slider window (No values can be adjusteded/ no bars to adjust)
Only if I use the drop bar on the color box(top right) and change to CYMK or RGB, can I change the color.
This is a bit annoying seeing that I cant figure it out why this happens.
I would show you guys a screen shot, but like i said it only happens randomly.......

This is great - but then how do you get the swatches back? I had a photo in the page and am now creating regular vector boxes but can't find a way to display the swatches! I've tried the pull down, tried show color swatches, show all swatches - but nothing happens no matter what i do.
    Many thanks for your help!

  • Is it possible to set the default colours in the swatches palette in Illustrator CS4?

Is it possible to set the default colours in the swatches palette in Illustrator CS4? What I mean is replace the swatches default colour palette with my own, so that each time I create a new document it comes up with my colours rather than Illustrators.

You might also consider using color groups with Illustrator. Let me know what you think. It may help you out with projects that use the same color preferences.

  • Illustrator CS4 New Color Swatches Keep Shifting Values

Hi.  I really need some help.  I created 8 major panel designs for my first-ever tee shirts.  For this project, I added up to 70+ colors to my existing standard CMYK swatch library, by naming them and marking them for global.  Just to be on the safe side, I also made up my own directory in a separate document by making squares with their names next to them.  I transferred these to each new document I created.  I did all of this in Illustrator 10.
I finally got to upgrade several months ago to the Design Suite CS4 -  Hooray!  No problem in converting my files.  I am having my tees printed in the direct-digital-to-fabric method.  My printer said that I could change all my CMYK colors to RGB for a more vibrant rendering.  And so I went in to each of my colors and manually changed them to RGB.  I also changed my document format to RGB.
Several weeks ago, my eye registered that my favorite red didn't seem as red any more.  And so it wasn't!  I checked my swatch, and it was way off my original settings.  So I changed them.  The change didn't keep.  It turns out that almost all of my colors were off their original CMYK settings!
So I started over again, by taking each color, and in most cases, making up a new color swatch with a slightly revised name.  I made sure the colors reflected accurately both the CMYK and the RGB percentages.  I DID NOT want to select as a spot color.  Therefore, I kept the "Process" format, but selected RGB.  I also deleted the old color swatch.
But the problem was still there -- within a span of several minutes, my "Red" changed both in the CMYK and RGB percentages,  I checked 15 other colors I had just created, and their percentages were off also.
Needless to say, it is very important to me that my colors hold their value.
I thank you in advance for considering my challenge.

    Kelly,
And so I went in to each of my colors and manually changed them to RGB.  I also changed my document format to RGB.
Pick (almost) any colour in a document with CMYK Color Mode, copy into a document with RGB Color Mode, and see a change.
In other words: if you want to keep the colours, keep the colour mode; if you want to change the colour mode, recreate the colours, and expect some differences.
My printer said that I could change all my CMYK colors to RGB for a more vibrant rendering.
Maybe your printer needs a vibrant rendering, with a boot.
If the meaning was that the RGB colour gamut is larger, and therefore capable of more, and more vibrant, colours, which is true, that is what should have been said. It would imply creating new, fresh colours.

  • My Pantone Color Swatch Library is Missing from Illustrator

I've searched the computer for this PMS color swatch library... can't find it. How do I get it back? I NEED IT asap! Ahhh! Please help?

This isn't really about color management. To reach the largest group
of people who might be able to help, try the Illustrator forum
(Windows or Mac). Be sure to say what version, and if you can remember
what changed between this last working and now that might help too.

  • Change Default Soft Proof Color – Illustrator CS5.1

    Short Question:
How to change the default soft color proof setting in Illustrator CS5.1?
    Backstory:
Every time a document is opened in Illustrator CS5.1, it defaults to Working CMYK soft color proof. For those that work in web, the default soft proof color space of CMYK results in dull colors. This means that every time a new document is opened, the soft color proof settings need to be changed manually. There's got to be a way to change the default soft color proof settings in Illustrator? I know it's possible in Photoshop already.
    Many Thanks!

You could try if either a custom Workspace or Document profile does the trick:

  • Illustrator CS6, CC, "CC 2014" not honoring a 100% Cyan Spot Color Swatch change.

Why does Illustrator CS6, CC, "CC 2014" not honor a "100% Cyan Spot Color Swatch" changing the % value in the Color Pallet.
I create 3 different Spot Color Swatches of 100% Cyan, 100% Magenta and 100% Yellow in the Swatch pallet.
Then I fill 3 different squares with one of each Swatch and put the Fill to 70% on all in the Color Pallet.
Now I try to change each square back to 100% value in the Color Pallet by typing a number into the Percent Field.
But the Cyan Spot Color does not honor the entry, the Yellow and Magenta are fine.
Has anyone seen this behavior before, and what can be done to resolve it?
    Thanks,
    J

I would report this as a bug, you can use the slider to set it to 100%, but not enter that value by  typing. Strange.

  • Ase color swatches to illustrator cs6

how do I access ase color swatches saved in photoshop for exchange into illustrator cs6

In the menu for the swatches panel in Illustrator choose "Open Swatch Library>Other Library..." then navigate to the location of the ase file on your harddrive. (Sometimes that is the ticky part...) They will open as a panel you can use but not edit. Copy and paste them into your Illy swatches panel and then they will be fully editable as well.

  • HOW can I change Indesign's default 'New color Swatch'?

It always comes up as 100C, 100M, 100Y, 100B and I usually have to drag all the sliders down to zero. BLACK in particular is the one that bugs me because a new color swatch is NEVER going to have 100% black unless you want a black swatch - you get a black swatch with every document whether you want it or not so what's the point?

You new swatch will start with whatever the definition is of the currently highlighted swatch in the panel.

  • When i open a new illustrator cs6 document color swatches do no appear in the swatch panel. MAC 10.9.3 user

my color swatch do not appear in the swatch panel when i open a new cs6 document. MAC 10.9.3 user

Swatches are included in the New documents profiles that are included in the "Profile" menu. Have you been selecting a profile from there deliberately? What happens if you do so now - select for instance "Print" or "Web"?
If documents still don't contain swatches and you're certain you didn't change the document profiles, then they might have been corrupted.

  • Color Swatches in Toolbar for Fill and Stroke are not working properly.

The color swatches in toolbar for fill and stroke are not functioning as they should.  When I select an object on the artboard, the swatches display fine in the toolbar for what they should be.  However, when I double-click on those swatches from within the toolbar to modify the color, the color which comes up is #000000 instead of the actual color it should be.
I am using 16.2.1 (cloud) for Mac OS 10.8.2
I've submitted a bug report, but want to know if anyone else has had this issue and what they did to resolve the issue.
Also, the eyedropper tool is buggy and occasionally places the #000000 into an object instead of the characteristics the eyedropper is selecting.  I don't have any hidden layers or weird groupings, it just randomly decides when it is going to work or not.
I've never had these issues on previous versions of illustrator and have been proficient in all versions since 2007.

Double click the eyedropper, and turn on appearance, is off by default.
For your #000000 color problem that also likely is related to appearance setting. You may have for example have some with #000000 at the character level, and another color at the type level.

  • Add color swatch upon launch?

    Hello,
Is there a way to add a color swatch (in this case, PANTONE Solid Coated) into the CS4 AI color pallete so that it's permanent upon launch? It's a hassle to have to open this color swatch every time I launch AI.
    Thanks

I tried this over and over and never got anywhere, out of frustration I finally gave it another try months later. It is RIDICULOUS that it isn't explained better but it is truly VERY simple.
Here is the trick (Windows 7)
Either open a file or Navigate to and open the default swatches file you would use most often (In my CASE it is Basic CMYK.ai or PRINT.ai)
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS5\Presets\en_US\Swatches\Default Swatches
There, I add the swatches I want delete others (especially the stupid gradients that are included).
THEN Save the file as and overwrite the original file.
HERE IS THE KEY: open a new file (FILE / NEW) and then choose  "NEW DOCUMENT PROFILE"
and choose the swatch file you edited (In my CASE it is Basic CMYK.ai or PRINT.ai)
FINALLY you will have the default swatches you created. If you use a lot of different profiles you will have to do it again for each one.

  • Why can't I find certain Pantone plus colors in Illustrator CS6 color books?

Why can't I find certain Pantone plus colors in Illustrator CS6 color books? For example I want to use PMS 2296C, but it is not coming up in the color swatch book in Illustrator.

    Thanks!
I actually just came across the same thing in the meantime.
    And it worked!
If you bought the physical Pantone books, there is a registration/serial number on the back. You can go to Pantone and register it (https://www.pantone.com/pages/MYP_myPantone/mypProductRegistration.aspx)
Then you're able to download the Pantone manager.
There are infact 336 new colors added to the Pantone Plus series. And this is where you need to get them. Once you have them, in Pantone color manager, you go to: File/Export/Adobe Illustrator/sRB. Then restart Illustrator.
Once you go back in, the new 336 colors are available!

  • Color Swatch Palette is Stuck

I am a designer working for a printer. We have a customer who is trying to add a new color to her CS4 document. She is selecting New Color Swatch - Spot - Pantone Solid Coated but is getting Process Coated DS colors -- the palette is stuck. Any suggestions? When she sent the document to me I didn't have any problems with the swatch palette.
    Thanks for any help.

    from the help files:
Restore all preferences and default settings
When InDesign is behaving erratically, deleting preferences (also referred to as “trashing preferences” or “removing preferences”) often solves the problem.
    Do one of the following:
(Windows) Start InDesign, and then press Shift+Ctrl+Alt. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
(Mac OS) While pressing Shift+Option+Command+Control, start InDesign. Click Yes when asked if you want to delete preference files.
