Default Keyboard input change in using roaming Profile on different Win 7

We found a strange problem on default Keyboard setting.
We are using roaming profiles for all users.
One of our users is using two Windows 7. One Windows 7 is VDI for working out of office and another Win 7 is her local PC.
She is only using Two keyboard input: Chinese Traditional English and Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
Whenever she had used the Windows 7 VDI, when she comes back to office and use her local PC, the default Keyboard input will automatically change to Chinese Traditional Pinyin.
The user said she had not changed any default keyboard input in the VDI of local PC.
Is there anything we can do for this issue?
Ivan

  • Windows 2012 RDP "resets" user settings while using Roaming Profiles

Last month we installed a RDP environment running a Windows 2012 DC and 2 Windows 2012 RDP servers. The RDP servers are running in a pool.
For the rest it's nothing fancy.
The problem is that user-settings are reset, most likely during logon. This only occurs when we use Roaming Profiles.
    - We create a new user, in a container with no GPO's attached.
    - This user gets a RP while logging on, no errors, at logoff the RP is written to it's correct folder.
    - Logging on again. Now for example I make Chrome standard browser and change the program which opens JPG files.
    - Logging off
    - I check the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and the changes I made can be found in the file. So it has been saved to the NTUSER.DAT.
    - Now I login again and check the settings I made. IE is standard browser again and the JPG setting is also back to standard.
    - Logging off
    - Checking the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and yes, everything is back to default.
Now the funny part is, when I create a user with a local profile, everything is working properly. Settings been saved.
It doesn't make a different what kind of user it is. Domain User, Domain Admin. They all have the same problems when using RP's.
No error messages in the Event Viewer.
I'm clearly unable to solve this problem. Hoping someone can help me on this one.
What makes the settings reset at logon while using Roaming Profiles?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you enable Cache copies option of roaming profiles?
This issue might occurs because the User Profile service does not load the terminal server roaming profile correctly after the user account password is reset.
When the Delete cache copies of roaming profiles Group Policy setting is enabled, and when a user is prompted to change the user account password, the User Profile service loads a local temporary user profile. The User Profile service loads this user profile
to perform the password reset operation. However, the profile changes to a combination of the local temporary profile and of the roaming profile after the user password is reset. Therefore, the terminal server roaming profile is not loaded correctly.
In addition, please try to delete the SID of the user from registry key and check the result. You can follow the below path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    More information:
You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message

  • File Associations in 2012 R2 RDS Server using Roaming Profiles

    Background Information
We recently moved from using 2008 R2 RDS servers to 2012 R2 RDS Servers. All of our users
have roaming profiles. When we migrated from the old terminal servers to the
new terminal servers, the users got completely new profiles. The only thing
moved from their old profiles were documents and items on their desktops. We
have multiple PDF viewers/editors installed on our RDS servers. Mostly due to
the cost difference between Adobe Acrobat and other, cheaper products that a
lot of our users can get away with using that don't need the functionality of
    Adobe Acrobat.
    The Problem
Ever since moving to the new 2012 R2 RDS servers, whenever our users log off terminal
server, the next time they log in their default PDF Viewer association doesn't
load, and they have to go through the process of choosing a default PDF viewer.
This only occurs when there's more than one PDF viewer installed on the server.
We've tested it with only one PDF viewer program, and the setting remains after
logging off and back on. The problem we've found is that the registry key that
    houses the default user choice:
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.pdf\UserChoice
when set during the session, to Adobe Acrobat 11 for example, reads as such
inside that registry key. For example, the Progid key will say
Acrobat.Document.11 and this setting will persist until the user logs off. Upon
logging off and back on to the terminal servers, if you look at that same
Progid key, it has been converted in to a Hash value, and the Operating System
is unable to read the hashed value and determine what that user's default PDF
Viewer choice is, causing them to have to go through the process of setting it
    again.
    Things we've tried
We created a GPO that runs a script that exports the registry key upon log off that has
the non-hashed value, and have it set to import that value on log on. However,
by default this registry key has the DENY WRITE permission applied to it, so
when the system tries to import the registry key through the login script it is
    unable to do so.
    Summary
This issue only started happening once we moved over to 2012 R2 RDS servers. It only
occurs for users using Roaming Profiles. It only occurs when we have multiple
PDF Viewers installed on the servers. Any insight on why this is happening or
how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.

I would use GPP to push the value, 'not hashed'. You can give right to the registry too, so like adding everyone group to that registry branch. (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/cc753092.aspx)

  • Keyboard input change after Mavericks update.

I am currently using a MacBook 13 inch unibody and since the update to Mavericks my keyboard has changed. I use a Japanese keyboard and have now lost the abilty to enter the at mark @ (that was copied and pasted). A lot of the other keys have moved. I have checked the keyboard input sources and there is only 1 listed for Japanese (kotoeri) which used to work before.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Apple seems to have gone back to the old system where Kotoeri uses the last-active keyboard layout.  Try switching to US in the "flag" menu before switching to Kotoeri and see if that works.

  • Default keyboard just changed

When I got the Z2 earlier this afternoon, I selected SwiftKey as my default keyboard. The phone has just reverted to the xperia keyboard.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It sounds like you received an update for SwiftKey. When a 3:rd party keyboard is updated you may need to reenable it under Settings -> Language & input.

  • Keyboard input changed to wrong language

I'm using a dual g5 desktop running tiger 10.4.4. This morning all keyboard input is in the wrong language. It's greek or one of the symbol fonts. According to the setings in the international panel everything should be set to US English, roman script. I know that CMD+space used to toggle between input choices but that now brings up Spotlight. Is another key combination that toggles the languages? Other settings to check? It's interesting that the input menu tab of the international pane still says use CMD+space to toggle inputs, but that no longer works.
    Help? thanks

According to the setings in the international panel
everything should be set to US English, roman
    script.
The setting that matters is system preferences/international/input menu (not languages). Also make sure you have the box checked for "show input menu in finder," so you can see what keyboard layout is active in the "flag" menu at the top right of the Finder.

  • Want to stop using roaming profiles

Not sure of the best forum to put this in, so sorry if it's in the wrong place...
I have nearly all my Windows XP users in a policy package being pushed out by Zen 6.5 (sp1, I believe). In that policy package, I have enabled roaming profiles. Now, I'd like to simply turn that off. What will be the ramifications of turning off roaming profiles in that policy package? What are the "gotchya's"?
    Thanks!

  • Default keyboard shortcuts changed

I had to safe boot my computer yesterday because my Mountain Lion update failed; after the update succesfully worked though, all of the shortcuts changed. I was able to change some of these shortcuts so that they work normally again (i.e. brightness shortcuts), however they keys F7 to the eject button do not work. I have the latest wireless keyboard and always have had the latest wireless keyboard for the iMac, and the keyboard has always been fully updated.
Could someone try and help me out?
    Thanks in advance!

You might wanna try resetting settings.

  • Data-Driven test : Compilation should be avoided while running tests in batch when .csv file inputs changed to use them in script

    Hi,
I am running Data-Driven  test on different machines with different  input values in .CSV file in batch mode.we are facing following problem:
Test not considering modified values in  .CSV file until we recompile the test.
Is there any way to avoid this dependency of compilation after updating .CSV file???
    Regards,
    Nagasree.

Assuming the CSV is part of the Visual Studio solution. Open the properties panel for the CSV file from solution explorer. Set "Copy to output directory" to "Copy if newer" or to "Copy always". Some documents recommend
"Copy if newer" but I prefer "Copy always" as occasionally a file was not copied as I expected. The difference between the two copy methods is a little disk space and a little time, but disks are normally big and the time to copy is normally
small. Any savings are, in my opinion, far outweighed by being sure that the file will be copied correctly.

  • EAP-Chaning vlan change with roaming profiles

    Hi
While doing eap-chaining i change vlan, when user is posture compliant, works great...
    But i also use roaming-profiles.
So when i log off, the vlan changes back to default immediately, and syncronization off roaming-profile fails, because of the vlan change.
I tryied th set the" vlan detect interva"l in the Nag-agent to 10sec, but it didn´t change anything.
Is it possible to have the switch or Anyconnect NAM client to delay the vlan change ??
    Regards Henrik

I just redid the install and used the "migrate to 5.2" and everything came over again and looks alittle better. But when I try to use LDAP for roaming (Netscape 4.7ish) it says that it can't connect to the 'Roaming Server".

  • How do I use long path names ("\\?\UNC\...") with Server 2008 roaming profiles?

    Hey folks!
    I administrate a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Domain with about 40 users on
Windows 7 SP1 clients. Because the users often switch between the many PCs, I am using Roaming Profiles which tend to produce errors with different application-specific paths and files inside the users profiles.
As one of many example, our standard mail application Thunderbird produces paths and files according to folders/subfolders and mails in a user's mailbox. Another one is Microsoft Office's Auto Recovery files which reside in a user's profile and can
    get very long.
These paths and filenames often extend the allowed max. path of about 256 characters, when (on log on or off) the synchronization process between the client and the server takes place, leading to errors in the event log and a notification to the user about
    the conflict:
"Event ID 1509 - Windows cannot copy file \\server\share\users\user123.v2\AppData\Roaming\looooong to location C:\Users\user123\AppData\Roaming\looooong. DETAIL - The filename or extension is too long."
In the long run this leads to different file versions on different clients which - in the case of Thunderbird - leads to missing mails.
After extensive searches and lectures of forums - including this - I haven't found a solution for this problem.
So my question is if there's a way to use the extended max path with roaming profiles and if so how do I get it to work?
I tried changing the profile path of a test user in the Active Directory user preferences from "\\server\share\profiles\test_user" to something like "\\?\UNC\server\share\profiles\test_user" without any changes in the system's behavior.
Also I think that because this is such a fundamental problem somebody must have come up with a solution for it...
    Thanks in advance,
    Nico

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
The Event 1509 can happen if the destination path of the users profile is on a server with a long name and share folder name. For detail information, please refer to:

  • How to set up roaming profile on Macs using AD like in windows

I can bind the workstations to the domain fine.. But can someone direct me to instructions of how to set up the roaming profiles ?
What steps do I need on the server ? This is what I've done so far.
I already have OU's for the departments and the users have a shared folder inside their department folder.... \\server\shared_folder\user
I have done the usual things with AD as far as the profile settings on the windows server.
Am currently running Mac OS 10.5 and above
My windows AD runs on windows server 2008
All my windows workstation are able to use roaming profile without a problem.
So far i have tried the so many avenues including..
Make sure the Mac systems are joined to the domain controller and an ADS user can log on successfully. Use "Directory Utility" under "Utilities" menu to join the system to the domain.
Backup all the contents from /Users to the storage or somewhere locally.
Configure automount - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Mounts" tab and add automount as mentioned below. Remote NFS URL: nfs://server_name/share_name/path/to/profile/directory Mount location: /Users Additional mount parameters: -P,-T Apply the settings and this will mount the remote shared folder or we can name it as Roaming Profile Space - under /Users directory
Enable roaming profile - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Services" -> Select "Active Directory" and click "Show advanced option" - Click "User experience" tab and select the option "Create mobile account at login".
Reboot the system and log in as any ADS user. The Roaming shared folder will be mounted and the user profile will be created on the shared folder
    Can anyone kindly assist me

  • PDC w/o Roaming Profiles

    Hi all,
This may be a stupid question, but currently we are using OS X Server 10.3.9 as a PDC and are allowing both OS X and Windows logins. What I want to do is allow Windows logins w/o using roaming profiles. It seems to be having an adverse affect on the network, particularly when logging on via a wireless network. I mapped the My Documents folder to their Documents folder in the home directory on the file server, but it is still wanting to sync the folders each time they logout. Is there a way to disable this?
An ideal solution would be to have a default profile for each user and have the My Documents and such on the server w/o syncing each time. We have 1,000 accounts on the server.
I hope I am clear with the question because I am having a tough time figuring out how to explain myself.
    Thanks.

***********************************************************Hi, I have 700-some PC's on our network that I've set this up running under Tiger and Panther servers. I too have found everything to work a heck of a lot faster w/out roaming profiles. What you want do is turn off roaming profiles through the policy editor in your windows client. (make sure to be logged in as administrator of the local machine to do everything) In XP, go to the run menu and type in GPEDIT.msc. In there, go to the left pane. Under computer configuration-->administrative templates-->system-->user profiles, there are two settings to configure that show up on the right. Enable both "prevent roaming profile changes from propigating to server" and "only allow local user profiles". This will force the PC to create all user profiles from the local "default user" folder on the machine. Doing properties of My Documents and setting it to the drive letter or path of the home directory should work fine as long as you do it after you've manually mapped it. (just tell it not to reconnect the map at login everytime when setting manually.) The other issue, about windows file syncronization, I've run into also. You have to go into my computer. In the toolbar go into tools, folder options and click on the offline files tab. Uncheck enable offline files to get rid of the syncing. Ok, hope this helps ya out... :-D

  • Roaming Profiles

First sorry if this is in the wrong folder. I was asked a question today that I don't quite know the answer to. If someone is running a full mac shop from server to client machines and using roaming profiles, do the full roaming profiles actually get downloaded to the client machine every time, or do they stay local to the server as they do in a windows environment. Or is it a preference for the admin to setup as to whether they stay local or push down to the client when a user logs in?

Network home directories stays on the server but you can make it a portable home directory/account that will be copied to the client/user machine the next time you log in from that machine. Any change to that portable account will be copied back to the server (you choose what folders).
You make it a portable account on the client machine (can maybe be setup from/on the server if bound to OD/AD?).

  • Roaming Profiles hiding desktop shortcuts from programs that are not installed on PC

    Hi Technet,
I am in the middle of a GPO review and I am making a few changes to the roaming profile policy on my network. It is currently working but I have come across an issue that I am unsure how to correct. I am trying to hide desktop shortcut
that are not installed on the end users PC while roaming profiles is enabled.
    Let me explain further
Let’s say I have two PC but with different program installed (as an example one PC has Adobe Photoshop and one does not) I want the end user to be able to log into both PC and only see desktop shortcuts that match the software which is
installed on that PC but while using a roaming profile. Currently when the user logs into the PC that doesn’t have Adobe Photoshop installed they are presented with a blank desktop icon as the roaming profile has cached this icon from the first PC. Is there
a way to hide program icons that do not exist on another PC while still using roaming profiles.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
    Thanks Nick

Remove all related shortcuts from the user's desktop dir and recreate
them on the all users desktop dir. These will NOT roam :)
