Default open changed!

first sorry for my english
one day i try open file.dictionary that looks like a white lego piece ( kids toy ) whit dictionary.app ;but not only it doesn't work but also all similar file icons changed to folder icon and when i duble click on them ,they open like folder that contains "Contents" folder ( similar to righ-click on a application and choose "Show Package Contents" ).
now how can i fix that and restore them to default?!

rajlego,
in the Keyboard pane of System Preferences, select the Shortcuts tab, and then select Mission Control on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, make sure that the Mission Control checkbox is checked, double-click on its current key combination (by default “^↑”) so that the key combination is highlighted, and then press the F3 button — that will set its shortcut to be F3. You can now press F3 to bring up Mission Control without needing to also press the Fn button.

  • Changing default open file location

    Hi all,
In Outlook 2010, is there anyway to change the default folder that is opened by explorer when you want to open any pst files?
I have tried the registry changes listed in other forums but this only changes the default save location. I have managed to change the default open location for Word, Excel etc but not Outlook.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi,
Do you mean you want to change the default location when you click File > Open > Open Outlook Data File?
We can achieve this goal by modifying the registry, I managed to do this in my environment. Please follow the steps below:
Note: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it.
    Locate the registry path:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook
    Add the ForcePSTPath registry value:
    Value name: ForcePSTPath
    Value type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Value: path to your storage folder
Restart your Outlook to check the result.

  • Need to find a scripts for changing default "Open with" iTunes app to Quick

    Hello all...
I'm new to scripting but need a script really quickly...
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a script that will change the default "Open with" of audio files placed within a certain folder on my desktop...
I'm making sound clips with WireTap and dumping them in a folder called WireTapExports as .mp3. I then need to play them without using iTunes (and importing them by default) but going into the "Get Info" and manualy changing the "Open With" settings for each file is taking ages...and it's very irratating...
Is there a way I can make all audio file put in that folder automaticaly open with Quicktime instead.
I know this is quite easy to most but I've only just started looking at Applescript (i.e. a few days ago) and but I need this to work now...
    Many thanks in advance...
    PigeonCake...

Not what you want, but if you hold the control key while getting info it changes to summary info which then lets you change the preferred application on a batch of files in one go.

  • Changing the default opener in Bridge

My Bridge has decided to change the default opener from Photoshop CS4 to either Quicktime , Paint or Dreamweaver.
So now I cannot preview a picture in Bridge and then open it in Photoshop
Can anyone tell me how to change the default back to Photoshop.

I feel like we are not having the same discussion as I am repeating myself.  Either I am misinterpreting your problem, or you are misinterpreting the suggestions.
Have you opened Windows Explorer and click one Tools? Should be a tab that says File Type.  Look what the default "opens with" setting is for jpeg files.  You want it to be CS4.  Bridge is not a separate program, but subprogram of photoshop.
Also, did you go to Bridge and click on edit/preferences/file type associations?  Is CS4 shown there a program for jpeg?

  • Changing the default open folder

Does anyone know how I can change the default open folder in Illustrator? It keeps going to the Documents folder when I try to open a file and I'd like to change it to another folder.

Illy defaults to / recognises the *last* opened folder unless that's been shifted or some kind of housekeeping (such as clear all history) has been undertaken. In which case, and on first opening, it will open the default folder which will be 'My Documents' .

  • Default Open Program

My Adobe Bridge CS6 default open program has changed into "Window Live Photo Gallery" after uninstalled previous version of Bridge CS5. I uninstalled with remove all prefrenses. How can I get My Bridge CS6 default open program back to Photoshop CS6 ? Can anyone help me please. Thank you !!!

How can I get My Bridge CS6 default open program back to Photoshop CS6 ?
You can set this in the Bridge preferences File Type Associations section. Look for the file type you want to open in PS (e.g. jpeg, psd, tiff, raw) and from the menu choose PS as your default application.

  • Preview images in Finder (default opened by Preview) gone

Since a couple of days the preview of images default opened by Preview are gone.
Preview of files/images that are default opened by other programs are still there.
I tried one of the answers in the (unanswered) topics where it was suggested to delete the com.apple.finder.plist file, but this doesn't help.
I think this change has occurred after I installed the "Panorama maker 4" program that came with a Nikon Coolpix camera. This program can "stitch" together a number of panoramically made shots, so it is made to meddle with JPEG files. Also the installation procedure is very un-Apple-like and un-OS X-like.
Of course removing this program does not help.
Any suggestions on what might be wrong, or how to recreate the preview?

You should be able to restore Preview as being the default to open JPG files by opening Finder then choosing a folder with JPG files in it. Select one of them and right click (Option + Click) and select "Open With" then select "Other". Navigate to the Preview Application and select it (click once), then click on the "Always Open With" checkbox (lower left of the dialog box) then click on the Open button.

  • Default open jpg to photoshop cc 2014 in win 8.1

Why dont beta testers find things like this. in windows 8.1, you can not change the default program for jpg, jpeg or gif to photoshop cc 2014 in default settings it always defaults to photoshop cc 64bit instead. Tif and Tiff however can be switched to default open to  Photoshop cc 2014 without incident. Even though I direct the jpg and gif families to photoshop cc 2014, it is always set to photoshop cc 64bit.

That should work, but rather than using the control panel open a Windows Explorer window and right-click on a file with the extension you want to open in Photoshop. Then select the  and select the Open With option and if Photoshop CC 2014 is available in the list click it. If it's not there, select Choose Default Program and in the new window that appears choose More Options at the bottom of the window and then Look For Another App On This Computer from the bottom of the window again. Then you can navigate directly to the Photoshop CC 2014 install folder and manually select the Photoshop.exe file from there. That should then set Photoshop CC 2014 as the default program.
If this still doesn't work, then you'll have to see about getting help from Microsoft's forums as it's really an issue with Windows and not Photoshop.

  • Set Default Opening Application for a certain type of file?

I need some help saving time! I have lots of .groovy files that my apple doesn't know how to open and i have to select a default opening application for every single file! Is there a way to do this for multiple files or for a certain file type? thanks!
    amber

Sure. Click on a file, and then go to File-Get Info (or CMD-I) In the box that pops open, choose the app you want the .groovy files to open with, and click change all. That should do it.

  • How to set a default open with, for all files

I would simply like to make all my .avi files to open with VLC, rather than Quicktime. I have done the "change default open with", but it's only for that file.
Any way to make all avi's open with VLC?
    Thanks!

Right-click any .AVI file and select Get Info. Under the "Open with" section, select the app you want, and then press the "Change All" button.

  • Group Policy For 2008 Terminal Server Users Default Open With Not Working

I'm trying to change the default open with behavior for jpg files on my terminal server. I created a Group Policy that changed it to MS Paint to Office 2010 Picture Manager. The policy appears to apply correctly but jpg files still open in
Paint. When a user is logged on, if they look at the properties of a jpg, it shows Photo Gallery as the program to open it but when opened, it opens in Paint.
Has anyone seen this behavior before?

  • Making CS6 default 'open with' after installing CC

I'm in an internal Studio of 6, and we've just upgraded to CC from CS6.  We're all having the same slowdown problems many other people are having with InDesign CC, so have taken the decision to revert back to CS6 until the bugs are fixed in CC. (Done all the troubleshoots to try and make it quicker; info panel, pre-flight etc)
However, now we've switched, we can't seem to change the default opening application from CC to CS6.  The files we are trying to open we're created in CS6 and have yet to be converted to CC.
I've done the usual right click, 'open with', 'other...', select CS6 and 'always open with'.  Then when I right click, 'get info' and click 'change all...' it reverts to CC?
Anyone know how to stop this?  Obviously the newer files created in CC will need to be saved as an 'IDML', but it's the older ones I want to open with CS6 by default.
    We're working on MacPro's, 10.6.8, 2.8GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon, 12gb 1066 MHz DDR3 for info.
    Thanks

On a Mac, go to the finder and then right click (control-click or two finger click).  Go to the "get info", in the open with drop down choose "inDesign CS6" and underneath that click "change all".  Should solve the problem.

  • Adjust default 'open file' window

Hi, I am a MAC fanatic.... I work all day on my MAC 27" and am constantly opening files....
But how do I customise the 'open file' window. Every time I open a file I have to increase the size of the window, change the view and then look for my files.... is there a way to set the default view to what I would wish it to be?
I have enclosed a screen shot of the default open file window.... I would like a bigger window...... and be able to see 'list view' as opposed to icons each time.
    All suggestions would be useful....
    Thank you....

I don't know how to have the Open window resized by default.  However, for the list view just click on the List button in the Open window toolbar:
Once you select the List view in the Open window it should be the default from then on.

  • Defaults file - Change en_GB to en_US

I recently installed CS5 Design Premium on my computer. I also purchased InDesign Classroom in a Book to guide me through learning the software.
Before starting to use the lessons the book advises that I make a backup copy of the InDesign Defaults file and gives the directions on how to locate this file. I followed the directions, but when I got to the file, the name didn't match exactly. It was supposed to be en_US. However, on my computer I have en_GB. Did I install this software in too much haste and select English-Great Britain instead of English-US, or is the problem bigger than this? What must I do to correct this?

Yes. This is the first problem I have encountered (apart from not knowing what I'm doing), and I wouldn't have noticed it except for the need to copy this file so I can avoid messing it up as I use the learning guide, Classroom in a Book. I opened InDesign again to look for an example of the word "colors" and found it spelled "colours" as in the Brittish version.

  • 24x7 app default opening page

It would be very useful to allow the account holder permission to set the default opening page when accessing the 24x7 app. This is a feature found to be most useful in the Paypal app allowing a more time efficient experience with everyday transactions. At the moment the 24x7 app opens up to my data usage which I'm already aware of as it's displayed on the widget. Being able to select the account bills page to press the pay now icon would be very helpful

    Hi coreysaccount,
I don't think we would be able to change the default page as we think it's very important for customers to see this straight away, rather than being out of sight and out of mind.
You do have me thinking that maybe a 'favourites' option of some sort might be helpful. If you could list your top 2 favourites what would you list apart from a 'pay now' option
