Default Optimize Image Settings?

How do I set my own default optimize jpeg settings for Image Preview in Dreamweaver CS5? Whenever I open the Image Preview window, quality is set to "82" (see image). I have already optimized my jpeg files and want them to be inserted at "100" automatically. Otherwise, transferring an existing site with over 2,000 jpegs into Dreamweaver will mean I have to reset the optimization over 2,000 times (once for each image)!

OK - I get it. Don't open the panel, don't get FW! I'm relatively new to DW, so am finding my feet. Thanks for your help.

  • Default Image settings - handling multiple presets?

Default Image Settings allows for presets based upon camera serial number and ISO.
How is ACR handling overlapping presets? Does the addition of choosing the ISO within prefs simply override the noise reduction and leave the remaining presets untouched?
And, ( should be in feature requests ) would it then be feasible to add a pref in the future to make lens correction presets based upon embedded lens data. I realize that zooms often require multiple CA settings but primes can be relatively stable.
    thx
pg103 seems to imply that its either serial number or ISO
    >Select the appropriate options in the Default Image Settings section of the Camera Raw preferences to specify whether to associate the defaults with a specific cameras serial number or with an ISO setting.

    >Default Image Settings allows for presets based upon camera serial number and ISO.
Uh no...it is wrong to consider the per serial/ISO as "presets"...they are "Defaults"...big difference in implication if not concept. The "Defaults" that are set based on ISO/Serial are hard "all in one" defaults that are captured when you make the current settings the default.
Presets can indeed use overlapping presets because you can save out subsettings as presets. That can't be done with Defaults.
As far as the lens corrections thing, expect interesting developments on that front for the next version.

  • Defaults, Image Settings, Etc.

    Members,
Everyday I am learning a new technique in CS4, but I missed something basic way back in ACR 4.0 and now that ACR 5.0 supports the JPEG I am more confused. I need to know the relationship of the RAW preview and JPEG in the camera and when I change ACR Defaults ( for example after adjusting an image.), and how to use Image Settings, and Custom Settings properly. If I change my camera settings to Vivid, for example, what happens to ACR Defaults? Which takes precedent?
I find the Adobe videos quite instructive and if someone can point me to one in regard to the above, know that I am grateful. Of course a text explanation would, in my thinking, be more personal.
    Regards to all,

If my in-camera settings are irrelevant then what's the point of careful exposure and in-camera histogram settings?
Oh, it's absolutely critical to properly set your exposure–exposure, ISO and White Balance ARE indeed picked up and used by Camera Raw...it's just that all of the other "camera adjustments" are not. However, none of the other camera "tweaks" to your image are real...they're just metadata tags that get picked up by the camera makers' software but are ignored by ACR.
So, your actual ISO and exposure ARE important...those are indeed baked into the raw file. The White-point is picked up and used by default in ACR but you are capable of changing it...but color space, tone curves or other camera adjustments like converting to B&W are strictly done to JPEGs, not raws...

  • Nokia N8 Image Settings

    Hi All
Can anyone help me understand why there are multiple camera options provided under Image Settings in Nokia N8? When you go to Image Settings, you will see an option "Capture Tone" with "Camera 1" as default. There are 4 options available here to choose from. So if anyone has any details about it, can you please help me understand?

  • Do you change the default RAW conversion settings?

I have used Sony (and formerly used Panasonic MFT) cameras (a900, a850) for two or three years and never had any reason to change the default RAW conversion settings.  Five weeks ago I started using Sony's new a77, and for the first time am not satisfied with Aperture's default RAW conversion.  (I recalibrated all my monitors -- twice -- thinking that something in my color workflow had got busted.)  The default a77 RAW file conversion results in an overly-saturated, "Disneyfied" picture.  I have found that by sliding "Boost" almost to zero, and cutting "Hue Boost" by half, I end up with a much more life-like, atmospheric, picture -- and one that closely matches the default rendering of RAW files from the a850 and a900.
    1.  Do you change the default RAW conversions settings?  Why?
    2.  To what units, specifically, do the scales of these controls refer?
    3.  It seems that Hue Boost provides a range of settings that corresponds to the print settings "Perceptual" (= zero hue boost) to "Relative Colorimetric" (= full hue boost); does that make sense?
The User Manual, as usual, provides a solid concise explanation of the RAW Fine Tuning Brick.
Any experience you can share is appreciated.  Thanks.

(It seems conceptually wrong to me to have these controls be part of the RAW converter.  Are there other adjustments in Aperture that do the same thing?)

William -- many thanks for your help.  I will almost certainly change the default for my a77 (as well as for the Nex-7 I used for a week).
Are there is any other adjustments mathematically similar to the "Boost" or "Hue Boost" sliders in the RAW Fine Tuning Brick?  I ask for two reasons:
    - Mostly I'm just trying to figure out what they do, and strengthen with knowledge my quiver of Aperture effects.  According the the User Manual, they change the overall contrast, and the amount to which the hue is changed as the overall contrast is increased.
    - In practice, it makes sense to me to have the RAW conversion produce the "flattest", least "effected" image possible -- to leave _aesthetic_ adjustments to me.  I don't want to use the RAW Fine Tuning controls as part of my workflow; I want to know how to get the same increase in contrast and control of hues using other adjustments (that, specifically, don't require de-mosaic'ing).  Apple seems to indicate that the use of the RAW Fine Tuning controls may be the best approach:
For images that consist of saturated primary and secondary colors, such as an image of flowers in a lush garden, shifting the hues to their true values has a desirable visual effect. However, this is not visually desirable for images containing skin tones.
The implication is spelled out in the sentencesthat follow: use the max setting for flowers, and the minimum setting for portraits.  Isn't it odd that this recommendation is left to the RAW converter, and is buried deep in the User Manual?

  • Best in Camera Raw Image settings

Not that the camera model matters, but is there any unique in camera RAW image settings that will improve how the RAW file is interpreted by Aperture?
For example, I shoot with a Nikon D200. I can customize how the camera "Optimizes" the RAW image by adjusting:
    1. Image Sharpening
    2. Tone Compensation
    3. Color Mode
    4. Saturation
    5. Hue
Does Aperture recognize any of these adjustments or does it just look at the actual RAW data and compensate just for what it thinks the white balance should be?

You don't need to do anything "in camera." Most (if not all) of those settings are ignored by Aperture, because they don't really apply to the RAW files (they are processing settings, and RAW files are effectively "negatives.").
So color space, sharpening, saturation, etc... doesn't matter what they're set to.
Of course, color space affects how the images are named on camera... the Adobe RGB spec mandates an underscore as first character, e.g. MG1005.jpg versis IMG_1005.jpg.

  • Default poster image for each exported video

Anyone know of a way to change the default "poster image" of each video that is exported to the MobileMe web gallery? The default icons that show up for each movie in my gallery aren't very good and I'd like to change to a different frame if possible. I know you can do this easily for photo albums by setting the key photo but cant find a similar way for videos. Maybe there is a setting in iMovie that I'm missing?

So I wasn't going mad after all - Brightcove's player default is with greyed out image
"the overlay button is standard for all our HTML5 Players and this cannot be changed through the publishing code or the player settings. the main reason for this being there is to indicate the user that it is a clickable image that loads the video. If you wish to replace that image, you would have to implement some custom code that would display the image of your choice above The Brightcove player and add some action to replace the image with the video when it is being clicked. An example of this you can find here:
    http://distractedtype.com/test/replaceImage.html
It uses some javascript to make one div with the BC publishing code visible, when the image has been clicked."

  • GDM default background image

Is there an easy way to change the (green) default background image (wallpaper) that I get whenever I want to switch user  ? I am not sure I understand where the settings is. In GDM for sure but where ?
I would be ready to use another login manager if that makes it easier. I have tried Slime but I would rather keep the ability to ... graphically switch user (I am currently using Gnome). KDM needs kbase which looks a rather huge download just for that purpose.
    Thanks for your help !

As far as I know it's supposed to be your currently set gnome background but it's bugged and just uses the default gnome wallpaper from /usr/share/pixmaps/backgrounds/gnome
Just rename the background-default file and put whatever image you want there, or symlink it. I myself, just put an all black image

  • How to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar?

Does anyone know how to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar? I want to swap it out so the client logo shows next to their URL.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
If you are trying to change the favicon for your site,
You can do it from Site Manager-> Page template -> Default Template
Look for the code   <link type="image/x-icon" href="/Path for your image" rel="icon" />, and Click save.
Now where you will use this template, it will display your favicon for that webpage instead of BC favicon. You can define it on Page directly if you are not going to use template.
Please let me know if you have any doubt.

  • How can I change the default cover image in iTunes?

    Good evening everyone!
I've scoured the web for this info but can't seem to find it. Is there a way to change the default cover image in iTunes to one of my choosing? You know the one I'm talking about right? The transparent CD cover with the musical note in the middle of it... the one that shows up when iTunes can' find appropriate cover art for your music. I have another image I'd like to use instead, as I've never liked the default image at all. The one I have to replace it is an image of a blank CD case. Kinda cool and would look infinitely better than the default in my opinion.
Has anyone done this before? If so, can you describe to me how it's done, or point me to somewhere on the web that describes how? Many, many thanks in advance Have a great weekend!!!

I understand what you mean - I too, would like to see some variability in the 'default'. Besides having a single default, I would step that up to a default that changes with genre and media: ie. I could see using a sax for Jazz; a microphone for a Podcast, etc.
I don't have the answer to your question yet, but I think I'm going to crack open the iTunes package to see what default images there are embedded in there.

  • How do I set the default Hero image in a Muse slideshow widget when using Free Form Thumbnails?

    Hello,
I am trying to find out how to set the default Hero image when using a Muse slideshow widget and in the Layout section I have the "Free Form Thumbnails"
    box checked.
In other words, when the page loads I want to define which image displays as the first Hero image.
If I do not select the "Free Form Thumbnails" option, the top left Thumbnail image always displays first. This is fine.
But when I select the Free Form Thumbnails" checkbox I don't know how to define which image shows first as the Hero image.
I have a short video at this link where I illustrate the question:
    http://amson.org/misc/default-hero-image-1.mp4
I have added a WMV video file at the link below:
    http://amson.org/misc/default-hero-image-1.wmv
Okay… I think I've worked out how to do it!
[1] First have the "Free Form Thumbnails" box UNCHECKED.
[2] Organize the Thumbnails and place the image that you want to be the first Hero image when the page loads in the top left corner of the Thumbnails group.
[3] When you "Preview Site In Browser" the Thumbnail image in the top left corner will always display as the first Hero image.
[4] If you want "Free Form Thumbnails" go ahead now and SELECT that checkbox.
[5] Whichever image was in the top left of the Thumbnail group before you checked "Free Form Thumbnails" will still show up as the first Hero image when the page loads, regardless of where that thumbnail image is located within the Thumbnail images group.
    Thanks very much.
    Chris.

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.

  • Macbook Battery Problem - Aperture Image Settings Lost?

Having returned from a holiday in Asia, I showed my family the photo's taken while there and displayed them on my Macbook in Aperture full screen.
Rather strangely the battery shut down after a couple of minutes viewing (from circa 66% charge), and when I plugged the power adapter in to charge the computer it had lost most of its application user settings - and Aperture had lost all of my image settings (it went about recovering the library photo's).
Now I'm left with a few thousand RAW photo's which are uncropped, unrotated, ... etc.
Is there any way I can recover this information, or do I have a few days work ahead of me?
I'm not bothered about the other app's (it lost my NewsFire feeds, iTunes listings etc), but I'd prefer to not have to spend hours needlessly working on my photo's again.

    Thanks for your help :o)
The ironic thing is that I'd wanted to backup my library to my main computer before showing my family, but they were in a rush to see the photo's.
When I booted the computer back up (having to do a hard restart due to the screen staying black with only a moveable cursor visible) Aperture started up with the optional welcome screen I always have turned off. When I proceeded through to the library no images were present, but Aperture then automatically set about finding and retrieving the projects/images.
15 mins later, all projects now present, the images were all as they had been when I imported them from the camera (with no adjustments), aside from one thing - my camera (Canon 5D) automatically rotates portrait images. When I import the images into Aperture direct from the memory card the images are always auto-rotated, but now they have reverted back to all being landscape.

  • Last image settings for auto apply adjustments?

We're testing the watched folder setup for LR3 and it seems to work fairly well.  One very big snag we've come across though is with using auto apply adjustments and the apparent lack of a 'use previous image settings' option.
We're using DSLR Remote Capture for the live preview functionality using a 7D and have LR set up to watch the Lightroom folder setup by DSLR Remote Catpure.  It would be fantastic if LR would automatically apply the last settings used to the new image file that pops up in the watched folder.  The flow and flexibility this would allow for would be ideal.
Did I miss this setting somewhere or does anyone know of an easy workaround?  I'd really prefer not to have to save custom presets everytime which is the only workaround I've put into practice so far.  It's a clunky way of doing things and really racks up a whole bunch of presets that are only really relevant to a single shoot.

    carson.jones wrote:
Lightroom doesn't support Liveview on the Canon's (7D in this case) and many studios and photographers need to use Liveview while working.  This means that tethering directly in to Lightroom is a no-go since Liveview isn't an option.
The solution to date is to shoot using the Canon software or OnOne's Remote Capture to a target folder on the computer.
    understood.
Lightroom can be told to watch the folder and import the files as they become available, however LR moves the files and the capture apps are no longer able to see them.
Why does the capture app (i.e. EOS Utility) still need to be seeing them?
    Re. the 'last settings used'...
Let's say you're tethered to an app that is not LR for capture purposes and you're having LR automatically import the captures.  The ideal workflow would be to have LR leave the files in their original location as it can do when not using the watched folder.  When the photographer is on set and captures are coming into LR, they typically will tweek things like colour temp, levels, curves, vignette, etc. in LR.  Each time the photographer takes a new capture, they're forced to copy paste the settings used for the previous capture.  This is extremely annoying and cumbersome.  While lightroom can apply presets to incoming images, it has not allowed for the option to use the last settings from the last imported capture.  Currently we either have to copy/paste settings or save the current settings as a preset and have them applied as new captures come into LR.  Given that we're often tweeking the lighting, focus, etc. each shot, or short series of shots, is often different and applying the custom preset still requires further tweeking in LR.  If everything is aok (lighting, focus, composition, etc.) and we're simply capturing for variations of the subject or talent, it would be incredibly fantastic if LR would simply apply the settings used from the last capture.  I should note that no other raw software out there right now can do this either (C1 Pro for example).
OK, I can see what you mean now. So more specifically, the setting you'd like to see copied to a new capture is the one from the last imported photo.
An easy workaround I can suggest is to
have a named preset called "Last Image"
always have this preset applied during import
update the preset values of "Last Image" every time you adjust something on an image
By doing so, you don't have to manage preset names for different purposes, "Last Image" just contains all the settings from whenever you last chose to update it.

  • Batch not applying ACR image settings

I am aware this has been posted, but all related posts are filled with too much ancient ambiguity so I was hoping to create a simple thread with a simple answer.
    Have 30 photos (JPG)
Open them in camera raw from Bridge (CRTL-R), edit them accordingly, applying different crops, saturation, exposures
    Click done
Then start a new recording in photoshop
Select one image I edited, open in camera raw (Yes Image Settings is checked)
Open that image (Oh hey look at my recording, it is recording all of my specific edited values for this image, not good but I'll continue)
    Resize
    Save
    Close
So as many posts have asked before...why, when I run this batch, do all of my image settings follow the first, why can't they follow their respective raw image settings?
    Extra info:
    CHECKED:
    Override Open
    Override Save as
Sad thing is I'm pretty sure I did this before after tinkering for a while, but can't remember what magic switch I flipped. Thanks in advanced.

    Perfect, thanks Jeff
Here's the simple solution to prevent frustration...STAY AWAY FROM BRIDGE
I will repost what I did as compared to before and bold the changes
    Have 30 photos (JPG)

    Click done
Then start a new recording in photoshop

Forgot to mention that I apply the batch at this point
Thanks, hopefully this will be the new one-stop-shop.
