Default PLVAR in NAkisa STVN 2.0

Hi experts,
It seems when the Nakisa calls the RFC functions, then sometimes the PLVAR feld (Plan Version) is empty, so the Function module uses the system default PLVAR, but sometimes the Nakisa is using the most common "01" value.
This is a problem for our company, because our PLVAR value is different, so the RFC result is empty.
My question is :
Is there a way to set the default PLVAR for Nakisa OrgChart?

Just a thought also ... assuming that the ones left blank are using the system default and that is correctly using your required PLVAR then it might be worth seeing if removing the element Luke mentions to leave SAP to determine the value.

we want to upgrade to SAP Org Visualization 3.0 (SAP Talent Visualization - Org Chart by Nakisa 3.0) and need some information about it.
The product has been put on PAM within the last week but there is no technical info (O/S, DB, SAP version requirements etc) also we can not locate any upgrade/installation documentation.
Currently we run Nakisa 2.0 as a non-Web AS program on a windows server. Rumour has it that Nakisa 3.0 run in a Web AS.
Any information which can help us to upgrade to 3.0 will be great.

Nakisa STVN 2.0 SP3 Missing OrgChart button

Hi Luke,
The OrgChart works fine. I set up the AD authentication, and the logon goes automatically from the windows, but there is a problem.
The OrgChart button is missing from the Nakisa's welcome screen. If I put back the logon screen, then it works fine, but if I change it to AD, then the OrgChart button is missing.
I also checked the log It always says the same error:
2011.01.07. 14:31: ERROR: ApplicationConfiguration : getListingDirectory : listing directory: DirectoryListing2 does not exist.
Do you have any suggestions what can be the problem?

Hi NG,
I've seen this before with Portal authentication. It usually happens in older versions (1.0, 1.1 or 2.0) when the user is not properly authenticated. I think the bug you are getting in the log is not relevant, although it could be worth checking if that object exists and creating it if not.
It is worth checking your dataconnectionconfiguration in AppResouces.xml because sometimes the format of the connection string differs from the LoginConfiguration_Integrated.xml. Another handy trick I know is that at the end of the connection string is a set of 4 true/false booleans seperated by commas:
LDAP://domain.server.co.ukk,389,UK\Nakisa_AD_Account,password,false,true,true,false
Make sure they read false,true,true,false in that order. It will affect how the application authenticates.
You will also find that sometimes AppResources.xml seperates out the user Id and password into an extrainfo section in the connection. I believe that it should be changed like the above.
This can be tricky to get working so persist and you should be okay. Good luck!

Nakisa STVN 2.0 Data Table

Hi experts,
Is there a way to add a new field to the configured Data Table In teh Nakisa ADmin Console? Can I change the Data Table, and enter a new one?
I'm talking about the "Data connection Menu" where I gave the Connection String and the Data Table.
The problem is that the field I need is not availabe int he corrent connfiguration. Is there a way to add a new field to the structure? (I'm not talkin gabout the Field menu, I need an extra field which is not in the Field Menu)

Hi N,
Live means OrgChart connects directly to SAP to get data and Staged means it uses a Database to store data that is extracted from SAP.
If you are just using this on an internal system not at a client then I would recommend getting STVN3.0. This offers much greater functionality than 2.0.

Hi Michael,
IE8 Compatibility Mode is fine for use with STVN2.1 applications. As Stephen said, IE7 and IE8 are certified for SVSN3.0 but IE6 support has been discontinued.

in SAP Standard this processes can only be maintained in the backend with code hrtmc_ppom. There definitely no frontend component for succession planning available. Therefor NAKISA STVN can be used, but with additional license costs....
Some customers developed own WDA Apps for some of theses processes. Maybe this is an option for you.

RFC Trace not functioning

I am facing an issue in accessing RFC Trace in Nakisa STVN admin console for Employees. I click on RFC Trace (in production) and nothing happens. all other nodes function normally.

Unfortunately I have had instances with similar issues before - I was hoping you wouldn't have quite the same.
For example yesterday I was working on a client where I could access the disabled listings in OrgChart AdminConsole, but not the enabled ones. In that case I could amend the XML to meet the requirements, but obviously the RFC trace is a bit more of an issue. I've certainly also seen this occur for the log manager as well which is frustrating when you want to roll the log.
I think you have a few options available for consideration:
Restart the application in NetWeaver and see if that makes any difference.
Report the issue via OSS and see if you can be offered any solution.
Last but not least a heavy-weight approach - backup your configuration, undeploy and redeploy the product then reimport your configuration.

Nakisa OrgChart STVN 21 JAVA Connectivity issue with ECC 6.0 Ehp4

We have deployed Nakisa component with following steps:
1. Java component OrgChart21 TalentOrgChart21_16.sca on SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 Ehp1.
2. applied Nakisa "STVN21_Addon_NW701.SAR" and "STVN21TP_OCOMECC60_1_1.zip" on SAP ERP 6.0 Ehp4.
3. Created SSO connectivity between NWCE and ERP 6.0 Ehp4.
5. Applied Nakisa License on portal using following URL:
http://coe-lba-asd1.group.coe:57000/OrgChart/manager.jsp
6. We have provided security settings entries without role mapping and getting following issues while accessing Nakisa user portal:
404 Not Found
SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.11 / AS Java 7.11
Error: The requested resource /default.jsp is not available

Details: File [default.jsp] not found in application root of alias [/] of Java EE application [sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples].

The connectivity if I understand you correctly is based on the Connection String.
Please refer to the page 33 "Setting the Authentication Source" on the Administrator Guide for STVN2.1.
An example of connection string would be:

Hi HK,
You need to understand the core principles of configuring security in STVN modules as covered in the Advanced Technical Training courses Nakias provide via SAP. The configuration is done in the Login_Configuration.xml files in your build folder and AppResources.xml.
The coding is highly complex and requires experience of implementing it. It also depends on what type of build you have, what the authentication source is and how you plan to authorise the users once you have authenticated them. There are many combinations and it isn't something that can be explained over a Forum - it needs an experience consultant on-site in order to do it.

Options for presenting photo's in Nakisa 3.0 Org chart

We want to add employee photo's into the org chart in Nakisa but currently do not have photo's in SAP R/3. Is this a requirement before Nakisa will display these or can they be accessed by Nakisa if they are stored on a networked server for example with a specific naming convention?
Secondly to get org modeler working I believe we need to activate business function HCM_TMC_CI_1 and add an additional MS SQL, DB2 or Oracle database must be used for this to work. Is this correct and will activating the business function cause an issues with any implemented functionality?

We use Nakisa 3.0 staging the data from SAP. As our photos are not stored in SAP either, the extraction logs consist of lots of entries where the system is unable to retrieve the photo, as below:
WARN com.nakisa.Logger - com.nakisa.integration.sap.SAPConnector : HRWPC_RFC_EP_READ_PHOTO_URI : AbapException with these parameters: PERNR=00000006, DATUM=20101116, TCLAS= - ABAP Message: INTERNAL_ERROR
We have tried placing photos with <pernr>.jpg in the default installation directory of Images/Portraits/ however these are still not displayed. My assumption is that in order for these to be displayed the URI field on the EMPPHOTO or PHOTOURI field on the POSITIONEMPHIERARCHY table, or some other tables must be set to a certain value.
Any thoughts on this?

What we did is create a custom html/javascript page that
1. triggers the logoff event on nakisa
2. redirects to the real logoff page
To lett it all work this custom html/javascript page is linked to the logoff event of the portal by specifiing it via the configtool or Visual Admin... the parameter is "ume.logoff.redirect.url"

Nakisa image export doesn't work.

Hi N.
Unfortunately the problem looks to be that you are using secure HTTP to access your photo ("https://...").
This will cause trouble for the PDF Export add-on to read the image.
Suggestion 1:
Are you able to provide the photo URL path without using HTTPS? Your content server link already contains an encryption, there is no need to also secure the communication channel at the transport layer (by using HTTPS). I am not sure if the IT Policy will allow this, but it is definitely the best choice we have.
Suggestion 2:
Log a support ticket explaining the details of this issue. Keep in mind that because you are using an old version of STVN, this suggestion might take longer to get resolved.

NAKISA Authorizations - How does it work?

How does NAKISA authorization works? Does it all depend on the SAP backend authorizations or is there another level of authorization in NAKISA? I am currently using structural authorization and AOR to control authorization in SAP portal but seem not to have any effect on some of the NAKISA functions such as employee and org unit search.

@Eric: Luck is absolutely right, there is no special authorizations need to assign in STVN, all authorizations/every call from SAP backend system only.
           I think you already done the below steps, if not please do it
           1. In SAP, OOSP transaction code have you entered your ROOT orgunit ID, IF NOT PLEASE
           2. In SAP, OOSB Transaction code, have you assigned that structural Authorizations to that employee?, if not please
           3. In SAP, I think you already assigned AOR (a741) relationship to that particular position in PP01 T.Code?, if not please
           4. In SAP, after done the above steps please do delta-indexing one more time using ESH_COCKPIT and also schedule      Delta-Indexing.
           5. Now check it in STVN system, if you still facing the problem please follow the below steps:
           6. Login SAP back end using the same position(Problem facing User-Id), which is already assigned AOR relationship by YOU.
           7. In SAP, check the RFC's which are using for NAKISA. then again do it indexing.
           8. In SAP, Go to SLG1 T.code and enter "ZNAKISA_OBJECT" and execute do the troble shootig, It may help you also
if you follow the above steps, I think your problem 80% will be solve.

HR ABAP authorizations for Nakisa roles

We have just started to plan for ORG chart and Talent planning systems by naksia. Wondering if there are any
standard HR authorizations that the standard nakisa roles use and if anyone can elaborate if IT 008 (Basic Pay) really comes in to play with this as it is very sensitive. The project team has presented these user types:
Everyone, Executive,Assistant,HR(Human Resources), Manager
We are not using Structural auths but auth by PLOG, P_ORGIN

For OrgChart are you using Live or Staged?
There are no special auths required for OrgChart. A SAP role needs to be mapped to an ORgChart role in order for users to see certain data. No PA0008 data is shown by default in OrgChart, although obviously if you want to show it you'll need to make configuration changes to restrict display, depending if you are using Live or Staged. The roles you mention are standard OrgChart roles that come pre-defined out of the box.
For SuccessionPlanning (assuming you are on ECC6 EhP4) you need to have the Talent Management Specialist role (SAP_TMC_TALENT_MANA_SPECIALIST) assigned to each user and an Area of Responsbility assigned in HRTMC_PPOM. This is between the Position of the user and the OrgUnit of each area they are responsible for. No configuration is required in the application because, for SuccessionPlanning, it is really just an interface between the user and ECC data and leverages ECC security etc.
