Default presets

I have just installed Lightroom 3 and cannot see the default presets in the Develop modu
le although I can see a folder on my computer where the presets are sitting. How can I get them to be displayed in the
system as I am developing my photos?

When in the develop mode the various tools are on the right hand side of the screen, the settings there are what the default develop settings for the particular file are until you change them. If you look on the right side of the screen the history panel will show any changes made on import, so if you applied a preset on import it will show here.
If you have accidental turned of any panels you can reactivate them from the window menu.
Best to check out the help link from LR for the basics of how LR works, the Five Rules will give you a quick tour of the panels.

  • How to set default preset for Save for Web

Following the demise of my laptop, I have installed PSE8 (Windows) on my new one.
On my old machine, the default preset for Save for Web was JPEG High
On the new installation, the default is GIF and you have to manually scroll through the presets every time to apply the JPEG High preset.
Is it possible to change the default preset.  If so, how.
    Thank you

  • Set a Metadata Default Preset in LR3?

I'm wondering if there is a way to set ONE "custom" preset to be the default metadata for all time - applied to every single image ever brought into LR3?
I want to use these to help © my work and leave embedded contact information in the files - but it is a big pain to have to do it manually for every time I import files - also something I don't always remember to do all the time.
I don't ever need different presets - just one main one.  As it stands it comes up as "NONE".    I'm stumped as to where one sets a default meta preset.  Within the preset editor -  the program preferences - nowhere that I can find.

But I'm not aware of any place where one can set it to a default preset - so that it requires NO adjustment/setting - and no manual attention ever again
If you set it in Import, it's remembered for future import sessions. How more much persistent than this should but be?
Every time a new catalog is made.
And it is valid for all catalogs.

  • How to get default presets to the left panel

I finally installed lightroom 3 after many, many months of it sitting on my desk.  I have been watching tutorials, and playing around with it, and I have found that the default presets are only on the right side panel in library.  On the left panel in develop the heading presets shows up but when I click on the triangle nothing shows up under them.  I did see a question already on here to right click on the heading and check it which I did a few times just to see if it would work and nothing.  This is very frustrating because I have to click on each preset and undo it if I don't like it.  Please help.

    Hello!
When I left clicked in the spot shown below,
This field is shown (shown below). As you can see the preset menu is checked, thus the presets being shown.
Is this what you are referring to? when you left click nothing is shown, and nothing is listed under presets?

  • Restore default presets in local adjustments

I think that there is a problem when restoring default presets in local adjustments. I can not restore them, both from the preferences window and from the menu in local adjustments.
By the way, I'm storing my presets with the catalog.

    how to restore these presets.
By reinstalling any Adobe app that makes use of the shared PDF components. The presets themselves are stored in the pertinent program folder and also in your user data folder. In fact if you simply create a new user account they may magically show up because they were re-created/ copied with factory defaults... On the other hand that may also point to possible permissions issues with your own user account - the files may be there, but inaccessible due to insufficient privileges. Other than that really simply reinstall.

  • Change printing default presets?

Whenever I print, currently on an Epson NX420, I have to go in and change one of the presets for color options to OFF (no color adjustments) and I'd like this to be the default. Some pages seem to take a very long time to print if I haven't changed this setting.
I can create a new preset; but would like to change the default altogether.

You can change the printer defaults via the CUPS web page. But by default, the CUPS page is blocked. To enable it, open Terminal and type "sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes" (without the quotation marks). Enter the admin password when prompted and then refresh the browser view.
With CUPS web page open, select the Printers tab and then select the printer you want to modify. Then from the Administration drop menu, change to "Set Default Options".
This will show a new page with four menu headings (links); Options Installed, General, Banners and Policies. Select General.
Scroll down the list until you find the option you want to set as default.
With the option select you then need to scroll down the list to the bottom of the page where you will see the ‘Set Default Options’ button.
When you click the 'Set Default Options' button you will then be presented with an authentication window. Enter the account name and password that has been set as the admin for this Mac. And then press the Log In button. You will then see another page stating that the information change is completed.
You can now exit the CUPS admin page and check that the change is set.

  • Camera Raw Defaults & Presets not showing menus (BRIDGE)

    Hi There
I just upgraded to a new version of PS CS3 & Bridge and the option to apply Presets, or to Apply Camera Raw Defaults is not showing when I right click a file in Bridge. It also doesnt show up in the menu. I need to be able to Batch process hundreds of photos at a time and then convert them to Tif formats. I used to be able to do this by applying my Adobe Camera Defaults to many images at once. How do I do this now????
I am running Bridge 2.0.0975 and PS 10. Help!! This is critical for me!!!
    thanks so much!

    > Even if old versions are available for download, having older versions available on disk in case of malfunction is a perfectly acceptable practice.
    > This applies to any update of any software.
Agreed. I have gigabytes of disk space packed full of iso's, dmgs, and zips for
(almost) all of the software I've installed on my computers. It's a pain to
manage sometimes, but I know I can go back and reinstall PS7 (for instance) if I
need to even though I have no clue where the CD is at. It's just one part of my
configuration management and backup strategy. I don't have a sysadmin to take
care of this kind of thing for me any more, unfortunately, so I have to do it
    myself.
This plan also has the advantage that I don't have to be online to download
older versions from a vendors site (if it's even available) or go searching for
a seeded torrent (if it's not).
I'm not saying this approach is good for every one or even good for anyone but
me, but it is a perfectly valid way of doing things.

  • How to recover default presets

    Hello,
I deleted the Black & White preset and want it back. How can I do that?
I tried deleting user preferences and even reinstall aperture as indicated in link below but nothing is working

So if anyone has a suggestion It would be greatly apreciated. Or maybe someone has a link so I can import the default Black & White preset that comes with aperture.

  • PDF Default Presets Missing - CS5.5

I recently upgraded from InDesign CS4 to CS5.5. I uninstalled CS4 (with help/advice from Adobe's Tech. Support). Now my default PDF Print settings are missing. I only see the "Define" option.
Is there a way to re-load these presets?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    iMac - i7
    3.4 GHz
    16 GB DDRS
    OS 10.6.8
    CS5.5. Master Collection

    Thanks for the response.
I uninstalled CS4 after installing CS5.5 (I later learned that it would have probably been best to just install CS5.5 [without ever installing CS4] and use my CS4 registration # to install CS5.5.. I called Adobe Tech. Support to get advice and direction and they are the ones that told me I should have not problem and thus I uninstalled CS4).
I didn't have any custom presets...so, I'm just looking to install/regain the standard PDF print presets that should be loaded each time I launch InDesign.

  • Deleting Lightroom 4 (mac) default presets

I'm buying a lot of presets from designers and also create a lot by my own. So not to loose the overview I want to delete those which I don't need. For example all the default ones (Lightroom Effect Presets, Lightroom Video Presets...). I tried to delete the template folder in finder, but then it shows an error at the next startup. If I just delete the subfolders, then the folders within Lightroom still appear on the panel, just the presets within are gone.
Any help how to make them vanish?

The only way to do it is to root around inside the application bundle itself and delete files.  This isn't a great idea, and every time you update Lightroom, they'll be back.
Others have posted the process here, if you want to search, but again it's best to assume it's not easily possible.

  • Default Presets are missing in Lightroom 5

    Hi!
I accidentally deleted all my presets in Lightroom 5. Try to uninstall and install the application again but the presets are still not there.
What should I do to bring all the presets back? Currently, I can't even add in more presets. HELP!!
    Thanks,
    Morla
    Ps. I am using Mac.

You may want to search within the Photoshop Lightroom forum to see if someone else has asked the same question previously.

  • How do I reset the Default presets to Export to PDF in InDesign 5.5 without loosing all presets?

    Lost all my PDF presets...
I would be happy at this point to reset all my preferences. But, can't find any instructions on how to do so in 5.5 -- only 3 & 4... HELP!!
UPDATE: I tried SHIFT+CONTROL+ALT -- instructions given to reset all presferences in CS 3 & 4 -- did NOTHING in 5.5... NOW I REALLY NEED HELP!!!

OK, first of all did you get a confirmation message about deleting the preferences? If not, they were not replaced. You can do the job manually as well. See Replace Your Preferences
There seems to be a flurry of reports like this this week. I believe several users mentioned that the presets reappeared after resetting the prefs, and in some cases after restarting the computer. You should back up the current PDF presets folders before you attempt any re-installation.

  • History applies default presets of new features

In LR3, I set as default the new feature "Enable Profile Corrections". That's fine for newly imported pictures, but if I play with the history of a picture which was imported with an older version (clicking on some step in the history), the feature will sometimes (pretty randomly, as it seems to me) be activated and when I go back to the history step where I was before the picture has changed (with e.g. double correction of vignetting). It means that in some cases you cannot revert to the developed picture you had originally selected, and that's really bad. A similar (though less acute) problem exists with camera calibration profile if you click on a history step named "reset settings": the actual default settings are applied and you cannot revert to the originally developed picture using history.
The problem also exists with snapshots: a snapshot of a picture with "Enable Profile Corrections"=No can activate this feature when recalled. Not in all cases - I simply cannot find out what the logic is.
Can somebody help and propose a workaround? I find it extremely annoying to know that the settings I selected for my pictures perhaps cannot be reverted to when playing with history.
    Pierre

    OK, here is an example:
Here is the picture as I imported and developed it in an older LR version (it's a Nikon NEF with an xmp companion):
Now I click in history on an older state (here "Quantité de vignettage", i.e. vignetting):
Note that Profile Corrections are now checked (and vignetting is doubly corrected, once automatically and once manually.)
If I get back to the initial state:
Profile Correction is still enabled; the picture has changed although the history state is the same as originally.

  • Modifying the default .pdf presets

    Using CS3
I've made my own preset for saving .pdf proofs from Illustrator. However it always defaults to the 'illustrator default' .pdf preset.
    Is there a way to either;
    - Make my preset the default so that I don't have to select it every time.
    OR
    - Modify the existing 'illustrator default' preset to be my own settings permanently.
99% of the time I'm using my preset and it sucks having to go to the dropdown every time and choose it.

Record an action, it remembers the preset you chose. I like to send mine to the desktop, and then I put them in the correct folders afterwards.
Tip: I record a save prior to teh save as pdf, so I don't accidentaly make a pdf and not save my revisions to the .ai file. I do get a false positive saying that save is not available (if this has already been saved) but to me that is worth not losing track of work/revisions.
The action is fast, and occasionally crashes illustrator sometimes(have found this true on different computer at different agencies I work at), so set your flyout menu playback settings to 1 sec delay.
