Default problem

I have both Adobe Acrobat 5 and Reader 9 on my PC (I use
Acrobat 5 for editing pdfs only) but, despite setting Reader 9 as
my preference (default program), whenever I try to read a pdf,
Acrobat 5 is always selected. But this is not compatible with
Vista, so the pdf will not display. If I can, I select "open with
Reader 9", but sometimes I'm not given the choice to do this.
Any suggestions?

In Windows Vista, you can change your default program used to
open a certain file type.
You can change your system's filetype/application association
by using the "Default Programs" control panel. (located in your
control panels)
From within there, you'll get walked through making the
appropriate changes to re-associate your .pdf files to the newer
version of Acrobat.
A google search for "setting default programs in vista" will
give you web site with images and text for step by step how-to's in
this realm.
Other than that, you may want to know that these forums are
specific to the
Acrobat.com website and its set of hosted services, and do
not cover the Acrobat family of desktop products.

Search Help Parameter Default - Problems with VKO and VTW in Sales Order

Hello,
we've implementend an own serchhelp for the material-search.
The fields VKORG and VTWEG have the default VKO and VTW.
If I open this searchhelp in VA03 those values are not filled, if I open it in MM03 or ME23N those values are filled.
My user has the VKO and VTW-parameters set.
We have no custom "preselect-code" implemented.
If I change the values to VKU and VTW the output is the same (works in MM03 / ME23N but not in VA03) (copied default values from MAT1S search help, didn't change my user parameters!)
What could be the problem?

Our searchelp was in our own append ZA_SD_MAT1.
Solution:
We deleted this append and added our search-helps to SD_MAT1 and now everythings works in mm03, me23n and va03.

I have a problem with network interface on Solaris 10 x86 on HP Proliant ML 370 G4 server.
The problem is that at the boot time it report some problem with network interface and writes "see svcs -x"

"Default " problem while migrating from mysql to oracle.

I'm migrating from mysql3.23 to oracle9i via the OMWB tool.While migrating i'm getting an error message "Failed to create default for the table <table>:ora00907 missing right parenthesis".This error is due to the difference in the syntax used for the keyword "default" in mysql and oracle.In mysql we have to give after the Not Null option whereas in oracle we have to give before Not Null.
The problem is i'm migrating via the OWMB tool.Is is possible to handle this error with the help of tool itself.

Chatter message size default problem

I generally have my Chatter initial message intake set to 4000 bytes. When traveling overseas I reduce it to 275 (to reduce charges). Some message come in at 275, others at my previous 4000 default. How can I get them all at 275? Thx.

Thanks for any help you can provide. In Chatter under Box -> Edit Mailbox -> Deliver, there is a place you can change the amount of a message that downloads initially. The range you can put it is from 250 bytes to 48,000 bytes. This is the amount that downloads initially. If the entire message is bigger than the size you have selected you get a red "More" box at the lower left of the message. Clicking this will download the rest of the message.
I usually have this value set at 4000 bytes which is bigger than most messages, at least the personal ones. When I go overseas and have to pay for the data I download (I have unlimited data domestically), I set this value at 275 so that I can "peak:" at a message and decide if I want to download it entirely (and pay for it) there, delete it as trash without paying for the entire thing, or wait until I get home to access it for free. (I could set it at the 250 minimum but when I initially had problems, I thought I would avoid the absolute minimum to see if that solved the problem. It didn't, but I stuck with 275.)
What happens at the 275 level is that some messages truncate at 275 bytes as they should, others at 4000 bytes. None are in between or greater than 4000. All initial downloads are either 275 or 4000 bytes. So the question (and problem) is why don't all messages initially download 275 bytes and how to make it do that as it should? Is it a coincidence that the the level that downloads when the 275 threshold is exceeded is always 4000 bytes - the same value that I have been using as my default (vs. downloding 5000 or 8000 or 6394 bytes initially, for example)? Hard to believe it is a coincidence.
I did a little more analysis. Of the 43 message downloaded since I changed the value to 275 bytes, 21 messages initially downloaded 275 bytes, 22 initially downloaded 4000. (There were also a few with total size of less then 275 bytes which downloaded the entire message.)
I had noticed that it is the larger messages that tend to download 4000 bytes instead of stopping at 275. This led me to hypothesize that perhaps all messages of total size between 275 and 3999 bytes initially downloaded 275 byes and all those 4000 or greater would initially download 4000 bytes. The hypothesis holds with three exceptions. There 3 messages of greater than 4000 bytes (4782 bytes, 12,905 byes, and 33,448 byes) where only 275 were initially down loaded. Obviously, there couldn't be any messages the other way (i.e, .less than 4000 bytes total that downloaded 4000 bytes initially). Interesting, but could be a fluke.
So that's what I know and what I am trying to do. Thanks again.

I Tunes default problem.

When I open my i Tunes the following message pops up
i Tunes has detected that it is not the default player for audio files. Do you want to make I Tunes the dafault player for audio files
When I click yes the folowing message pops up
An error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types. You do not have enough privileges for this operation.
Iv'e tried re-installing both I Tunes and Quick Time neither work any ideas?

A6000 keyboard default problem

I have a problem. my default keyboard app is swift key. i already set it as my default in language and input.
but everytime i reboot my phone, it always back to google keyboard. it's pretty annoying to change it back everytime i reboot the phone.

S10-3 Graphic Properties resetting to default problem

Whenever I use CTRL ALT DELETE or get a User Account Control notification my custom lowered settings (brightness/contrast) in Graphic Properties returns to default. The knobs on the bar don't actually move, but the screen is obviously brighter. How do I fix this?

E4200 reset to factory default problem

due to password loss, I get to reset the E4200 to factory default in order for router re-config.
Aftr pressing the reset buttom for 10sec, the router reset. After then, I could not access the router via browser with 192.168.1.1 at URL entry. My PC IPv4 setup: 192.168.1.11; subnet=255.255.255.0
But, ping 192.168.1.1 from PC was OK without packet loss. So router was restored with 192.168.1.1 and cable connection was OK.
Where should I look into now?

After the reset you could not access the router page anymore? Try unplugging the power of the router for 10-15 seconds. Once the power light goes solid, try accessing the router page again. If ever you still can't access it, try using another browser. If no other browser is available, try connecting another computer to the router. Check if you will be able to access the router page using another ocmputer.

HP K8600 page default problem

The above printer insists on defaulting to A4 Banner. I have tried to edit the .ppd file in /etc/cups/ppd (mentioned elsewhere on Apple Discussions), but can't see an obvious place where the page size is set to default to A4 Banner. Any advice?

Have you tried using Print & Fax Prefs or the CUPS admin page (http://127.0.0.1:631/) to set the default page size?
The ppd should have a *DefaultPageSize entry that indicates the default page size.

Safari Homepage Default Problem

Even when I set up Safari preferences for my desired homepage, Safari does not default to it when I reboot. Any solution to this?

You may have installed one of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

Printer default problem

Hi,
I have Network Magioc Essentials installed. Within this, I have set the printer connected to my home computer set as default. Everything is working fine then. However after shutting down and restart the computer again. The default printer is being changed to "WEBEX "printer and then I have to to do the same procedure again in setting home printer as default.
Anybody who knows how to solve this?

i sent in a support request needless to say they came back with a scripted response as either thats the outsourced support teams way of dealing with this or they just don't have a clue. my quess goes to the latter.
a google on webex component shows a whole bunch of security issues. that said the "plugin or app" seems to be widely used.

User defaults problem

Hi,
I have a couple of textviews and checkbox buttons in my interface and I would like to save their states in the user's preferences.
I'm trying to do it for the first text view but it doesn't work. Here is what I do in Interface Builder:
-Added a "User Defaults Controller" binding.
-Selected the NSTextView, in "Bindings" selected "User Defaults Controller" and checked the "Bind to" box.
-Changed the value transformer to "NSUnarchiveFromData".
-Saved and run from Xcode.
Now the application crashes on startup so I guess I must be doing something wrong...!?

Device Profile Default Problems

I am trying to create a default device profile for extension mobility for a 7961 phone. It is not in there. I see 7960s and 40s but I dont see any 41s or 61s. Any body run into this?

You should be able to create "default device profiles" for 7941's and 7961's, have a look;
With Cisco CallManager 4.0 or later, you configure a clusterwide device profile default for each model of Cisco IP Phone that you want to support Cisco CallManager Extension Mobility. The phone takes on the device profile default whenever a user logs in to a phone model for which the user has no user device profile.
To add a device profile default for a phone model, perform the following procedure.
Procedure
Step 1 From Cisco CallManager Administration, choose Device > Device Settings > Device Profile Default.
The Device Profile Default Configuration window displays.
Step 2 Click the Add a New Device Profile Default link. From the Device Type drop-down list box, choose the device (such as a Cisco IP Phone) to which a profile gets created.
Step 3 From the User Hold Audio Source field, choose from the drop-down list box to specify the audio source that plays when a user initiates a hold action.
If you do not choose an audio source, Cisco CallManager uses the audio source that is defined in the device pool or, if the device pool does not specify an audio source ID, the system default.
Tip You define audio sources in the Music On Hold Audio Source Configuration window. For access, choose Service > Music On Hold.
Step 4 At the User Locale drop-down list box, choose the locale that is associated with the phone user interface.
The user locale identifies a set of detailed information, including language and font, to support users. Cisco CallManager makes this field available only for phone models that support localization.

Step 5 At the Phone Button Template field, choose the appropriate phone button template. The phone button template determines the configuration of the softkeys on Cisco IP Phones. Leave this field blank if the device pool contains the assigned softkey template.
Step 6 If the phone model supports the Cisco IP Phone Expansion Module 7914, Cisco CallManager displays the expansion module field.
a. At the Module 1 drop-down list box choose one or zero 7914 14-button expansion module.

Step 7 To configure Multilevel Precedence and Preemption (MLPP) information:
