Default resolution for a MacBook external primary display.

I had gone through the process of waking may MacBook with the lid closed to make my wide screen TV the primary display. I changed the resolution to 1600x900 from 1920x1080 which my TV does not support. Leopard did not revert to the previous setting when I did nothing. Now whenever I connect the TV as the primary display Leopard thinks all is well and my TV goes black and i can't see what is going on. Is there any way to reset Leopard default setting in this mode for the TV?
My attempt to try out different resolutions has gone horribly bad.
Help please.

With the Macbook 13", turn the resolution as high as it can go, millions of colors, refresh rate n/a. This was the default with my machine, and it's working fine.

  • How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display?

How can I open Adobe Bridge CS6 in high resolution on my MacBook Pro Retina display? When I click Get Info, the "Open in Low Resolution" box is marked and locked. How can I unmark this box? I currently run 10.9.1. I can open Adobe Photoshop CS6 in high resolution without any problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.

  • Setting the default resolution for sap logon

    Hi, ALL!
I'm terribly tired of SAP interface. It's so uncomfortable for work.
For example maybe you know khow to set the default resolution for sap logon to make it use its widgets of proper size. e.g. when i work with transfer rules, it has only half of screen for useful area (i use 1400x1050), and right part is just empty, but on the left very many small fields and you should constantly use scrollbars (i think you know it well). Maybe there is system customizing for this purpose.

    Hello Dmitry,
There is no customizing for this - atleast to my knowledge.
However, you should have to redo the settings again and again unless you are continuously re-sizing the main window.

  • Incorrect resolutions for 16:10 external displays, unable to detect 16:9

Hey there all, this is my first post here. It looks like some people have had similar issues—particularly with an incomplete/incorrect list of resolutions being provided for external displays.
I am shopping around for an external display for my MacBook (my specs are included) and I tested a few different ones today, but encountered problems.
    - On a 22" ASUS monitor (sorry I don't have the model) using Mini-DVI to VGA, the native resolution (I assume 1680x1050) is not available, and most resolutions offered are 4:3 ratio (1600x1200 worked). The highest widescreen resolution listed was 1280x768.
    - Next I tried a 19" ASUS, this time 16:9, but the monitor would not display at all. The MacBook display would go blue as normal but then flicker, as if it could not detect the display. This also happened with a 24" BENQ monitor (also 16:9).
Wondering whether or not this was a problem with using VGA, I then bought a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter and tried again on the 19" and 24" (the 22" ASUS did not have a DVI-in) but the same flickering blue screen appeared, with nothing displayed on the monitor.
    These were my thoughts:
    1. My firmware is not up-to-date. I check in System Profiler and am running Boot ROM Version MB41.00C1.B00 and SMC Version (system): 1.31f0. These are definitely up-to-date for my model MacBook.
    2. Drivers are out of date. This does not seem likely as I am running OS X 10.5.7.
Other than that, I am at a loss! I haven't yet forked out the $49 to do phone support with Apple, that will be my next bet.
Has anyone had this problem, or have any ideas what I can try? Short of buying a new Unibody MacBook of course .
Thanks guys, hope you can help. Just let me know if you need more info about my computer.

It's unusual to strike out like that with three different monitors using two different adapters. On the other hand, with all the video issues that have been reported by others on these forums since the 10.5.7 update, it's not too surprising.
Is a 10.5.6 downgrade a possibility for you? For example, do you use Time Machine and can you in that case revert to a previous time when the MB was running 10.5.6? Perhaps that's not a great suggestion, but it would be something to try.
There is some remote chance, though somewhat unlikely given that three different monitors are involved, that the embedded display driver data (EDID) in each monitor is bad or incomplete. If you care to investigate that possibility, there is a program called SwitchRes X that allows you to snoop a monitor's EDID and turns it into a human readable text file.
One final suggestion would be to try yet one more monitor to see if any monitor can return a good result. One obvious choice would be an Apple monitor. If there is trouble when trying to connect to an Apple monitor, then that would certainly point to some problem in the MB's configuration or hardware. And not to cast aspersions on the brands you have already tried, but try another brand (if not Apple) that is perhaps more mainstream and known to be more Mac compatible and less firmly in the PC camp where plug-and-display drivers have never mattered very much and are very often botched by the monitor makers. Dell, Samsung and LG are three big brands that come to mind. Good luck.

  • What is the proper display default setting for a MacBook 13''?

Hi, I clicked on system preferences from the little blue apple and then clicked on Display because I was wanted to increase my screens brightness. Before I clicked anything else however, the screen blinked and blacked out and then came back up with large black lines on each side and the screen was scrunched up. Thinking I maybe accidentally changed the resolution, I clicked on the one below it - which increased the size of everything! Now everything is all messed up and even though I've got it fitting almost back to normal - the font and words seem blurry.
What did I do wrong and what is the right (default) setting? I just want my display to look normal again! Thanks for everyone's help.

With the Macbook 13", turn the resolution as high as it can go, millions of colors, refresh rate n/a. This was the default with my machine, and it's working fine.

  • Automatically move all windows to external primary display?

I'm using an external display as the primary display (the one with the menu bar) of my MacBook when in the office.
With Tiger, when I would plug in the external display, all of the windows on the MacBook's internal display would jump to the external display, i.e. remain on the primary display all the time.
But now with Leopard they no longer move and I must tediously move sometimes dozens of them manually.
Is there some hidden preference I can set to change this behavior back to the Tiger way? Or some hack to achieve the sma effect?
    Thanks!

I get the opposite effect in Leopard on my iMac. When I turn off mirroring, all windows jump to the external screen, which is what I don't want to happen. If I then open an application, such e.g. Safari, it shows on the internal screen. But when I then switch mirroring on and then mirroring off again, recently open windows windows jump to external screen too. I would at least like to know whether this is by design or a bug.The builtin screen is my main screen (with menubar).
    Thanks/Mikael

  • Default resolution for books enough?

    Hello,
I haven't ordered a book in quite a while and in some older versions of iPhoto it was recommended to increase the default resolution (using a plist editor) before buying a book. Is that still a good idea in iPhoto 08?
    Murray =:-)

    Murray:
It's not necessary in iPhoto 08 because the preferences have been changed for the new version, setting the default at 300 dpi.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • What is the best antivirus for a MacBook Pro Retina Display?

I would like to know what is the current best FREE and PAID antivirus out there the MacBook Pro

If you are running as a admin based users which most people are you should run something.  Apple doesn't maintain good patch levels for OS X.  Malware threats for mac are growing and even Apple as increased their updates to check daily and automatically install.  Just like Microsoft does today by default.  This all stems from the 600,000+ Macs infected by FlashBack, 59% of which were in the US.  Oracle had patched the flaw in java months before but apple simple didn't do anything about it.
OS X is the buggest software I have ever seen.  Lion was just a complete disaster for many enterprise customers and most of those fixes are not being included in Mountain Lion.  So pay $29.99 for your OS X that just has all kinds of problems and then pay us $19.99 to get the fixes for Lion in Mountain Lion.
Now they cannot even mass produce Retina displays, they are delayed 4+ weeks, i hear 6+ weeks.
Rush to get things out, poor quality is creeping in.
What I've been dealing with lately is not being unable to netboot varoius models of Macs.  We have tested with 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 model macs and all behave differently.  The 2008 is the best as it will tftp the booter and kernelcache files in about 20 secons.  This is because it uses a block rate of 8192 by default.  The 2011 model takes more than 5 minutes to do the samething because some genius set the tftp rate to only use 512 block which kills performance.  And there is no way to manually increase this block rate.  On top of this all the mac models have a hard coded 5 minute time out.  This means that if the booter and kernelcache (phase 1) take longer than 5 min to boot up the entire process fails.  This is an issue with the newer models which only allow 512 blocks.  Who thinks this stuff up.  Really!

  • How do I download Microsoft Office for my macbook pro retina display without a disc drive

  • Any resolution for new macbook air hibernation problem?

I know this problem has started to surface online where the macbook air goes into sleep but doesn't wake and the only option is to hold the power key to reboot.
After having read posts, resetting PRAM and SMC, I still am encountering this issue.
Has anybody found any solution that has worked or is this a machine or software defect?
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem. Has it been confirmed that this is a software issue and not hardware related?

  • Does your mAh dropping and gaining normal for a Macbook Pro Retina Display?

I may seem like an over anxious new Macbook Pro user, but I have been keeping an eye on my mAh, just to track what my Max possible power storage is. To my surpise it has been dropping and gaining over the course of a few hours. I just want to know where it should be stabilizing at, and what factors could contribute to the increase and decrease, and if that is normal. The numbers range from: 8562 to 8708 mAh
    Cheers

Yes, the fluctuation is normal - as your battery ages, the full charge capacity will diminish and it will fluctuate between chagres. Nothing to worry about - completely normal. My 15" late 2011 MBP, purchased this March, had an amperage in the 6890 range when I first got the machine. Now, after 163 cycles, it's down to 6810 mAH.
Perfectly normal - I could look again in a day and it will change again. Just what it takes to keep those ions on the move!

  • Non-default resolution problem

I understand that the default resolution for the MacBook is 1280 x 800. I find this hard to read (my eyes are rather old) and would like to set 1152 x 720 but this gets somewhat blurry, letters are not sharp, etc. like it is slightly out of focus. Is there any way to make a lower resolution look as sharp as the default?

This is the problem with LCD monitors. The way the pixels are set up on LCD's their is only one good resolution for it. Unfortunately the multi task people want more desktop room and so the resolutions have been going up. You can however go in and increase text size through Universal access in system preferences or if it's just Safari you want you can limit how small of font to render their too.
As far as resolution your stuck with the native resolution of the monitor unless you want a bit of the fuzziness that goes along with a different one.

  • Different resolutions for Macbook Pro display and External display

Is it possible to have different resolutions for a Macbook Pro and an external display. I prefer to see less but larger on my Macbook Pro whilst seeing more but smaller on my external display. I use the DVI output to connect to an Acer 22in display.

I've actually tried that process and it doesn't work; I still get the same display qualities on both. Perhaps that process might work if one is not mirroring. Maybe there is a compatibility issue between my Macbook Pro and the Acer 223W. I'll persevere, but thanks for your help anyway.

    Hi Ian,
    allow me to chime in:
    You are absolutely correct!
In 'Mirroring Mode' both internal and external display have the same resolution.
Only in 'Extended Mode' you can have different resolutions for both displays.
