Default SIM PIN on iPhone???

Howdy all,
Does anyone know what the default SIM PIN is on the iPhone? In the SETTINGS menu under PHONE:SIM PIN, I am trying to turn the SIM PIN on, yet it keeps asking me for a password. It says I have 1 attempt left, so I don't want to enter a code until I am sure I have the right one. I've tried calling Apple and they transfer me to AT&T... and then AT&T transfers me back to Apple... and repeat.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks All.

True, but the SIM is an AT&T controlled component, not Apple. If you call AT&T CS about the default PIN, they currently don't know since it's not in the Apple manual. I even raised this up to a director level there. If you call Apple, they tell you call AT&T. No one wants this hot potato...
The default PIN needs to be put into the User Manual. It's inexcusable to leave it out since inserting the wrong PIN 3 times results in the SIM being blocked and a non-functioning phone until the PUK has been entered or the SIM replaced by AT&T.

I bought my iPhone from Verizon and having their service.  Does my iphone has a default SIM PIN?

The 4G LTE SIM card in your device contains information about your plan, device and more. You can set a SIM PIN so others won’t be able to access that information if your SIM card is removed from your device.
If you remove your SIM card and insert it another device (e.g., when you upgrade to a new device), you’ll be asked for the SIM card PIN. You can find your SIM card PIN in My Verizon if you’ve forgotten it. Or, if you’ve entered your SIM card PIN unsuccessfully 3 times, you’ll need the PIN Unblocking Key (PUK) to unlock your SIM card again. After using the PUK, you’ll need to create a new PIN for your SIM card if you want to secure it again.
To locate the SIM PIN / PUK numbers for your 4G LTE SIM card:
Navigate to the Overview page in My Verizon.
Click My PIN and Unblocking Key (PUK) under About My Device.
Your default PIN and PUK will be displayed in a pop-up window.
Click Close when you’re finished to return to the My Verizon Overview page.
You’ve successfully located your SIM PIN and PUK.

  • IPhone 3G no longer asks for SIM pin since 2.2

Since I updated to 2.2 my iPhone no longer asks for my SIM pin after a restart.
If I reset the pin it works as it should for a while but if I reset the iPhone the problem reoccurs.
I did a restore but the problem persists. Any ideas?

I came on here because this morning I just noticed the same thing:
    iPhone 3G 16GB
    iPhone OS 2.2
I have the SIM preference set to a custom password (not the default) which should be requested on restart/reboot.
If I normally shut down the iPhone 3G (by holding the lock button and swipe) and restart, I have to enter the SIM unlock code.
However if I force a reboot (reset) by holding the home and lock buttons, upon startup, either immediately, or later, then the SIM opens unlocked, and no code is requested.
I also have an iPhone 1G 8GB with iPhone OS 2.2 and this does not happen on that phone. The SIM passcode is always requested and needed regardless of restart/reboot/reset method.

  • IPhone 1.1.1 update barfs on SIM PIN.

I have a completely unmodified iPhone which I updated to 1.1.1 this weekend. While the phone is unmodified, I do have a SIM PIN set for security reasons. After starting the update process, I left to do other things. When I came back, iTunes was displaying an error about updating the phone, and the phone screen was off, and was unresponsive to any button presses. I disconnected the iPhone, and it immediately went into recovery mode with the yellow triangle. I reconnected the phone and selected restore. Once the restore process began, there was an alert on the screen about the locked SIM, but the UI was unresponsive and I had no way to unlock the SIM. Once the restore was completed, I reached the activate screen, and was finally able to unlock the SIM. While I now have 1.1.1 on my phone, I lost all of my WiFi passwords, YouTube bookmarks, and any other data that does not get backed up or survives a restore. I assume I would not have had this difficulty if my SIM PIN was not enabled. iTunes should be able to detect a SIM with an active PIN and disallow upgrade until the SIM PIN is turned off.

I know it doesn't help, but i have SIM PIN enabled too, and my iPhone updated last week without problems - it restarted near the beginning of the process but didn't require the unlock PIN, presumably because the SIM wasn't accessed, and then restarted again at the end of the process, asking for the PIN. When I inputted it, the phone went immediately back into service.
Whatever your issue is caused by, it's not the SIM PIN responsible.
I would contact Apple to describe the symptom and see what they say.

  • IPhone 4s blocks after entering SIM PIN

Since today, my nearly brandnew  iPhone 4s blocks after entering the SIM PIN. Yesterday evening it lost the connect to the telephone net and kept on searching for a net. Trying first a restart - and as this did not solve the problem - a hard reset, it now locks up when trying to enter the SIM PIN.  It shows "Please wait ..." at the screen and then blocks.
I tried already restart, hard reset, taking the SIM card out and putting it back again, disabling 3G and Mobile Data. Nothing helped.
If I do not try to unlock the SIM card then I can proceed (but not use the iPhone as telephone).
Any idea what I could try else?
    Many thanks for any support,
       Peter

Thank you for the advice. I do not have a SIM without PIN at hand. I will try this after at next opportunity.

My iphone 5 is in disabled status but when going through the recovery process it asks for the SIM pin but I cannot access the screen as the phone wont connect to the activation server not the screen to unlock the SIM. What do I do?

That's usually a symptom of a phone that was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it.

No data on the iPhone should be erased or touched when activating a new SIM card via the iTunes sync process.
Contact info on the iPhone is designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. The same for calendar events and bookmarks.
All iTunes content and photos transferred to an iPhone should remain on the computer the iPhone is synced with for this data.
Photos available in the iPhone's camera roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
So to be on the safe side beforehand, import all photos available in the iPhone's camera roll, and sync contact info, calendar events, and bookmarks with the supported application on your computer. Sync with iTunes immediately beforehand to update the iPhone's backup if needed. The iPhone's backup includes data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info (but you shouldn't depend on this one alone), SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, 3rd party app data and any data created and stored by a 3rd party app, and photos available in the iPhone's camera roll - you shouldn't depend on this one alone either.

  • SIM PIN

I have just upgraded from  a 3g to iphone 4.  I restored the 4 from my latest 3g backup but the phone no longer asks me for the SIM PIN on startup.  When I switch SIM PIN on it doesn't recognise the old number.
I have one try left.  Is there a default PIN for the iphone 4?

Can I ask a question. If SIM PIN is enabled, do you need to enter the PIN every time a call is made or just when the SIM is inserted into a new phone?

  • SIM PINs...***

I have a new iphone 4s and I thought it might be a good idea to secure the SIM card with a PIN as you can do under settings > phone > SIM PIN. Under "SIM PIN" I put in my desired PIN number I wanted to use. A message came up "PIN not accepted, 2 attempts left" By accident I hit enter again and I get, "PIN not accepted, 1 attempt left"
I have never put in a PIN on the phone or SIM before (the phone/SIM card is 3 weeks old), but just on the outside chance that I had and "forgot", I got out my partner's brand new phone right out of the box and tried it and again it says the same thing, that the PIN is not accepted, with a SIM card death count down..2 attempts left...
The manuals tell you that this is an option and how to do it so I am left wondering... Since these are both AT&T phones, did AT&T put some sort of PIN on the SIM that I don't know about and this setting is taboo?  I started to read all up on AT&T locking of SIMs but I don't think this was my issue so thought I would come here where I have always found better answers for stupid questions...
But that "one attempt left...." is driving me mad....

I eventually found it on another website and then was able to confirm it on this website...
FOR AT&T THE DEFAULT PIN IS 1111. You would have to know this before you can assign your own PIN to your phone (of course they don't tell you that when you buy it...)

  • Sim Pin Bug?

    Hi,
I'm not sure but I may have found a bug in the new iOS using iPhone 5. I've done a search for the scenario which I'll explain. But I can't seem to see anyone replicating this.
I have a pin set for both the unlocking of the phone and for the sim also. On reboot of the phone it asks for these and a call can't be made until the sim is unlocked. Standard behaviour. On the iPhone 4 I used to have, the phone would ask for these directly after each other. However with the iPhone 5 the sim pin is asked after the phone has been unlocked for a few seconds.
I've found if you reset the phone (hold the home button and the power button until the apple appears and the phone reboots) put in the unlock code and then quickly before the phone asks for the sim pin touch an app or go into settings, the phone doesn't ask for the sim pin and you can make calls. The setting still shows that sim pin is active and this doesn't work if you reboot with the power button then slide to off and repower on the phone.
I was just wondering if anyone is able to replicate this. Or if this is the normal behaviour. It seems pointless to have a sim pin if you can bypass it like this.

  • Sometimes no SIM PIN needed

Since updating to 2.2, my Gen 1 iPhone has an intermittent problem. After it has been off for any length of time, the next powerup will sometimes (but not always) skip asking for the SIM PIN.
The passcode is working properly every time, but the next step, entering the SIM unlock PIN, is skipped once in a while, somewhat compromising the security of the phone. In other words, without entering the PIN, the phone is fully functional, able to call, access EDGE data, etc.
I have tried toggling the SIM PIN feature off/on and cold rebooting, but the intermittent problem always comes back, eventually.
Has anyone seen this or dealt with it?
    -dan

Thanks. Here is how it is behaving:
    • first thing in the morning, turn it on from a "cold" start: sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
    • power it off during the day and power it back on again: sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
    • do a full reboot (hold Home and Power until Apple logo appears): sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
Prior to firmware 2.2 it always asked for a SIM PIN under these circumstances.
    • toggle Airplane mode off/on: does not ask for a SIM PIN (as long as one has already been entered).

  • How to enter SIM PIN on a wiped IPad when you know the PIN?

My daughter somehow changed her PIN on her IPad this morning but has no idea what it is!  I tried to restore to factory settings, but it would not let me do this unless I turned off find my IPhone which I could not do because we do not know the password. I went to find my IPhone and tried to delete the device, but it would not do this since it was online.  I decided to wipe the IPad so I could then restore it.  That worked, but now the SIM is locked! I know the password to the SIM, but it just tells me SIM PIN locked please enter your PIN to unlock the SIM card.  My problem is that the box does not show up to enter PIN. There is nowhere for me to enter it! I tried logging onto itunes to do it there, but tells me the same thing with no place to enter PIN.  I am panicking because one of her Santa gifts for tomorrow is a digital makepver that you use with the IPad!!! Please help!

  • SIM PIN code 1020 WP8.1 re-enter

    Hello,
Ever since I've installed the latest update of WP8.1 (8.10.12397.895) Developers Preview on my Lumia 1020 the phone looses its connection with the GSM network (4G) and asks me to re-enter the SIM PIN code serveral times a day. I re-enter the code as soon as I discover this, but in the mean time the phone is not on the GSM network so I won't receive calls. As soon as the phone drops the network connection it briefly displays the Windows logo as if the phone was rebooted.
I hope this will be corrected in an next release, or beter in the final release that will come together with the Cyan update.
    L8r, Henk

I think my problem is solved. My attention was drawn to an article on the user forum of my provider. Someone with an Android phone was experiencing fairly similar problems.
When my provider started with 4G a year ago they used a specialised Access Point (AP) for 4G as their default AP was not suitable for 4G at that time. During one of the many updates since, the special AP disappeared from my 1020, but since my wife’s 920 did not have the update yet I recreated the 4G AP and copied the settings from her phone. Now it seems I’d better not done that. The guy with the Android phone found out that in the meantime my provider started supporting 4G in their default AP. And that the specialised 4G AP was nog longer supported and thus should not have been used anymore. The fact that the AP disappeared during an update should have warned me.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I selected the default AP and have not had any SIM PIN code issues since. Whereas with the old 4G AP I had to re-enter the code within 2 hours at max as soon as I came at work and my phone connected to my works Wi-Fi (under control of an MDM).
