Default Slide Display Time Won't Apply

Hiya -
Have a software demo deck that automatically recorded to 3s per slide, and I'd like to change the default display to 5s per slide.  When I change this in Edit/Preferences/Global/Defaults, it does not apply throughout the project.  Any ideas why?
Thanks,
Kimberly

Hello again
Well, for starters I'll need to know the following because my durn crystal ball is on the fritz and my remote viewing skills aren't up to par.
What version of Captivate are you using?
How did you record? (Demo, Assessment, Full Motion)?
Can you provide a screen shot (using the camera icon in the forums web interface) that shows one of the offending slides' Timeline?
Cheers... Rick

  • How do you change Slide Display time

I have a slide which has a 30 sec display time.  I want to change it to 6 secs.  So I go to slide propteries and change display time to 6.  I click OK but it make no difference.  When I look at the properties again, the time is set back to 30 secs !
How do i change the slide display time?

Thank you.  That has solved a number of my problems.  The time line does not appear by default on a new installation.  In fact it was quite tricky to get it visible but it is now.

  • Slide 'Display Time' Question

I am new to CP and am using version 4.  In designing my first project, I've noticed i need to set a slide 'display time' in the Slide Properties option box.  I have slides that I'd rather my users complete at their own pace then click on a NEXT button to proceed.  Is there any place where I can opt out of putting in a slide display time?

    Hi there
No need to worry with Slide timing. All you need to do is insert a button with a label of "Next". By default, button objects will pause the slide until they have been clicked by the end user. The slide will wait indefinitely until clicked.

  • Change all slides' display time en masse

    Greetings,
    Cp 5.5
I've recoreded a training and assessment simulation where the slides' timing is set to 3 sec. Post-production: I want to change ALL of the slides' timing to 2 sec.
I realize I should have done this in the Global Prefs Default prior to recording. Going in to the Prefs and trying to change the Slide Duration post-production does not work.
Is there a way to do this without having to change each slide individually?
    Much Thanks!
    k

No, I do not know about such a work flow, and also think it would probably cause a lot of issues. If you have interactive objects, changing the slide duration will change the active/inactive parts, if you have Effects the duration will be changed relatively, if you have audio, it will be cut off etc...
Is there a particular reason why you want to do this? Perhaps to decrease a little bit the filesize? Most object default timeline will probably also be 3secs, to decrease the slide duration you'll first have to decrease the object timelines or to attach them to the end of the slide (CTRL-E). If there is no real staggering in objects this will be the fastest way (but still slide/slide:
look for an object of each style/type, and set its timeline to 2sec, than you can use the small curved arrow in the top right of the Timing accordion to apply to all objects of that style/type
then slide/slide select the slide timeline and use the shortcut SHIFT-CTRL-LEFT to decrease the length with 1sec

  • Editing Display Time for Slides

Hello! I'm fairly new to Adobe Captivate and am using version 5.5. I am having trouble changing the display time for some of my slides (Captivate won't let me adjust display time from 4 seconds to 2 seconds), but I can adjust other slides with similar animations with no problems. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Thank you!

    Hi There,
Can you check your time if you have any image or any object set to rest of the slide, then you need to first change it back to 2 seconds and then change the slide display from 4 to 2 seconds.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

'Music' displays but won't play. Settings appear correct and iPhone (3G)  is selected for output.  Startup screen intermittently displays with the lower pause/play volume bar for no clear reason..... developed at the same time as play failure.  Ideas????

    Thank you for the replies.
Appearane of 'Music' functions (I>>   > II   <<I,   plus volume slider)  on the lock/log in screen (when first turning on the iPhone) thus far seems without pattern, i.e. regardless of which if any applications are up in the background, and indeed even when all have been quit.
All visual aspects of 'Music' appear normal after launch including the title scroll across the top in vertical mode. However, while pressing play (>) converts the play (>) icon to pause (II), selected song does not play and the elapsed time bar (upper end between the track count and the repeat/shuffle icons) remains stationary at 0:00 or at any point to which it is dragged.  When using home sharing this same problem persists regardless of what output is selected.
Hope that may prompt a thought somewhere.

  • CP5 - Default display times for Text Captions

    Hi there,
I'm using Captivate 5.0.1 and trying to figure out how to do something that was in Captivate 4. In CP 4, I could edit the Preferences and set a default display time for new text captions. By default it is set to 3 seconds for all new text captions, but you could change it. In CP 5 the default is set to 3, does anyone know how to change it?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hello,
It is exactly in the same place as in Captivate 4: Preferences, Global, Defaults. See screenshot. Or perhaps I do not understand your question well? If you are looking for Apply to all, you have to go in the Properties, but I did not understand that this was your question.

  • Resolution won't stay on "Default for display" setting upon restart

I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2014 edition with Yosemite.
I have a problem in that my Macbook won't stay on the "Default for Display" option upon re-starting... Each time I restart the machine, I have to manually select this option (and then it works fine). Upon reboot, it always starts up as "Scaled". What can I do to make it start up as "Default for Display"?
I noticed this problem started happening a few weeks ago when I had connected my MBP to an external projector. I did have to change around the display settings then. But now that I don't have it connected to any external display, i'd like it to default to "Default for Display" upon re-starting.

Thanks for that... It led to me solving the issue.
If you care to know the full story... Once I did those steps, I realized something important I didn't notice before... Upon restart, the machine would indeed to startup in "best for display"... You can tell by the "high resolution" of the background image and dock-icons, etc... The screen would then flicker for a second and would go to "low resolution". That led me to thinking it was one of my startup apps that was causing the problem... And thus not related to my connecting to a projector like I thought, nor to the actual restart of the machine itself. I then discovered the problem app ("iDisplay") and removed it from my "login apps"... and problem solved.
    Thanks!

  • How to access "Display Time" / Slide Duration variable?

I'm using Adobe Captivate 4, and I'm trying to programmatically access the "Display Time" for the current slide (ie: the slide duration).
How do I do that? I've looked through all the system variables in the actions dialog but to no avail.

    Hi Lilybiri,
I retried it this morning and it works for me. Here are some pointers:
I think it's a coincidence if CP hung when inserting the animation. It never did for me and I inserted it before and after. It's a possibility but I doubt.
Make sure that slide1Duration is written with a lowercase "s" and a capital "D". I noticed that you wrote it with a capital "S".
It works in TC and RollOver TC but it's not working with the click box captions. However, I could not get a standard variable like $$CaptivateVersion$$ to appear in the CB caption either.
I really think that your issue lies with the capital "S". Give it a try.
Finally, I'm not a good person to recommend books. I have learned AS2 and AS3 just from the Adobe help file. I never read a book or tutorial beside the help. Also, my background being a s/w developer, catching up with AS3 was not that much of an issue since I understand all the OO (Object Oriented) concepts. If you ever have questions about AS3, let me know and I'll try to help you out.

  • Time won't displayed in title

    time won't displayed in title
i can't see time in title when "backlight timer" set to 2 seconds
    please help

When you set "Time in Title" in the Settings to On, it will only show the time in the title after 3 seconds of inactivity. (and by that time, your backlight would automatically turn off if you have it set for "2 seconds").
So you you'd want to set your Backlight Timer to "5 Seconds" if you would like to see the time in the title.

  • Quicktime doesnt display time in slider

As of two days ago any file played in Quicktime opens with a slider that has the moving dot but doesnt display time as it used to (time passed on one end and time left on the other)
I cant find anything in the settings and it looks like i cant uninstall to try installing it again.
This is being a big problem because im in the middle of working on a movie project and i really need to see how long different clips are and at which times are certain events.
    I would appreciate any help.
    Quicktime 10.3, Mac OS X 10.9.4

QuickTime Player and its browser plug-in are not supported on a Windows 64 bit OS and this is one of the known "bugs".
See if you can run your browser in the 32 bit mode which may help the plug-in work as designed.

  • How to set slide properties 'display time' unlimited?

    Hi there,
I'm working on a PPT based captivate project.
I have a slide with Yes / No button.
I want to program the slide in such a way that, if user clicks 'Yes' control will jump to X slide.
if user clicks 'No' control will jump to Y slide.
My question is i want the slide should be displayed till an either Yes or No is clicked.
But by default Slide Properties is set to 5 sec. Moreover i have read in the HELP section that i can be set to max 3600 sec which i dont want.
I want the slide to be displayed till eithere yes or no is chosen. Please help.
    Thanks
    Deewanand

    Hello,
You had already very accurate suggestions. Want to add this: if your PPT-slides do have already animations, timings, be sure to set the pausing point of your buttons to be after all those animations have played! If they are only static slides, do not bother about my remark.
Another addition: do you want those buttons on all your slides? If yes: you will have to copy and paste them to every slide, you cannot set a button to be displayed for the rest of the project. And to set your Jump to slides actions, it works a lot easier if you label the slides..

  • T420s display port won't drive 2560x1600?

    Hi all,
Just received a T420s, udpating from a T410s. The T410s has the switchable graphics. When connected with a display port cable using a series 3 docking station, the old T410s will drive my Dell 3008 at its native 2560x1600 resolution without any trouble.
The new T420s will *not*, no matter what I do. Same cable, same monitor, same docking station, etc. The highest it will go is 2016 x 1000-something (writing from home and going by memory, sorry I don't know the exact numbers).
Any ideas? This is a real bummer as I really need the extra real estate. Every tech spec says it will do the right resolution, but it simply won't.. I don't even get the option in the NVIDIA control panel. It won't let me put in 2560x1600 as a custom resolution. Display driver appears up to date. As I've said, there's nothing wrong with the cable, monitor, connection.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wanted to give everybody an update on this situation. Previously I indicated that the suggestion to change the BIOS to discrete graphics only fixed this problem. Turns out I spoke too soon - it seems that even with this setting, I only get native 2560x1600 resolution 25% of the time. Fiddling around with other settings did nothing, in the end I concluded that the discrete vs. optimus setting in the BIOS didn't do anything to help me - I just got lucky following the BIOS suggestion. There may be other things that correlate with this 25%, but I don't have time to track down what they might be.
I finally found a permanent solution by changing from the default Lenovo display driver to a beta NVS 4200M driver from the NVIDIA website. Installed this a couple of days ago and my system now goes into 2560x1600 every time it is placed in the dock.
I have not revisited the discrete vs. optimus setting in the BIOS, but will eventually. Regardless, I conclude there's a problem with the Lenovo NVS 4200M drivers. FYI, I was running the 8.17.12.6696 version for Win7 64bit. I am now running the 275.27 beta drivers from NVIDIA. Everything else seems stable with these drivers, including the hardcore 3D modeling application I use at high resolution.

  • Banner Display Time for One App Only

I recently found an article (http://osxdaily.com/2014/01/29/change-notifications-banner-time-mac-os-x/#commen t-607754) showing a Terminal command to change the default display time for banner-style notification. It's a great thing, but then I thought...could there be any way to apply it to one app at a time? Say I want 10 seconds for Mail.app, 3 seconds for Messages and so forth.
    Can it be done? Thanks.

It's called Trip Journal. The problem is, I think, that my iCloud backup wasn't current, because I'm travelling overseas, so data transfer has been largely up, and I don't think it has been backing up even when I was connected to wifi at my hotel.
I did back up my iPhone to the computer this morning -- but that was after the crash occurred, so I don't know if any data will be salvagable.
@Norman - I tried that, multiple times, but it hasn't worked.

  • Office 365 pro plus 2013 update won't apply automatically

    Hi
We have started to use office 365 pro plus 2013 click to run. The issue / problem we have is that the updates are installing but does not apply. The version of word,excel.. Is old
and i need to manually go to example word and account to apply the updates. I want the updates to automatically apply.
In the config file i have enabled updates. <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />. I have also enabled updates thru group policy and checked that the policy is applying.
In the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\propertyBag i have the following keys:
    updatesenabled = 1
    UpdatesDiscoveryPeriodComplete = 1
    updatesreadytoapply = 15.0.4535.1511,en-us
    UpdatesDiscoveryPeriodStartTime = 13026393682226
    updatesthrottlevalue = 313
    version = 15.0.4535.1004
Does anyone have this problem and know how to make the updates apply automatically. I know that if there are office applications open it won’t apply or update but i have a test
computer with no office applications running in the process list and still it won’t apply the updates.
