Default to print setting

I go to "print" and it always defaults to "fax" setting. I have to change setting through the pull down menu. How can i set the default print setting to "print" not "fax"?

milkprod,
Try clicking the start orb and navigating to devices and printers. Here find your printer and right click then set as default. Let us know if it helps.

  • How do I set my Ricoh Aficio SP C220N to Default to print only Black and White?

    HI Guys can you help?
How do I set my Ricoh Aficio SP C220N to Default to print only Black and White? When I check print Grey Scale box it uses the other colours to create the black instead of using the black toner cartridge. doing this from a PC works fine but not of a Mac and I am a newbie at this can you help as I don't want to waste any more colour ink unnecessarily.

    Hi,
Follow the steps below to print using Black Ink only:
    1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized: Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
    2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
    3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
    4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
    5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
    6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
Any used preset will remain default so simply select teh standard preset to print in color.

  • Setting Black and White as the default when printing to a Canon Image Class 4080i

    Hi,
I've got two Canon Image Class 4080i's that we are printing to at the school I work at.  I have installed the Canon UFRII V2.40 Printer Driver for Mac OS X and we are able to print to them fine through any macbook running 10.5 to 10.7.  My question is, how do I make the default printer setting be Black and White instead of color?  I know how to change it from Color to Black and White by navigating to the Quality menu through the Print screen but I have to do this every time I print.  Is there a way to make black and white the default?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cheryll

You’re really going to take photos straight out of camera on a 5d3 and print them with a blindly applied B&W conversion from the printer?  I would highly discourage that, but if that’s what you want to do I’m sure it’s possible.  Sorry, I have no experience with that printer so I can’t help.
Do you have a laptop?  My recommendation would be to use a photo processing software like Lightroom (if you don’t have it LR5 is ridiculously cheap right now), play around before the event to get a B&W conversion that you like – even the preset ones are going to be better than whatever conversion the printer does -  and then print from LR.  It’d hardly take any extra time, and you could get a brief review of the conversions on a laptop screen before printing.

  • Preview Default Print Setting "Fit to Page" Problem

Preview.app in Snow Leopard has removed the option to print without scaling, and recreating this behaviour with the remaining options is quite complex and requires 4 extra steps.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a document in Preview.app, such as a PDF, of a known paper size.
    2. Select 'File' > 'Print…'
    3. Change the paper size to one where the default scale value with the default 'Scale to Fit:' 'Print Entire Image' is not 100%. This step is often unnecessary, as many documents will require reduction to include margins, even if the paper sizes match.
    4. Select 'Scale:'
    5. Select the scale % value.
    6. Delete the scale value.
    7. Input '100' in the scale value box using the keyboard.
    8. Press tab to avoid radar #7256827.
    9. Click 'Print'
    Expected Results:
Click on a single option to print at 100%, if by chance that wasn't the default option. This would have been one step.
    Actual Results:
Does what it says. Steps 4 through 8 are necessary to print at 100% in most cases.
    Regression:
This behaviour was as expected in OS X 10.5.x and previous versions, or we wouldn't be having this discussion.
    Notes:
Printing at 100% is the only scaling that is common enough to warrant a button to make it an easy one to get to. Preview.app itself even has an 'Actual Size' toolbar button, but has removed this function for printing.
Graphic designers (and other professionals) or specific applications (such as printing on pre-cut or pre-printed paper, labels, or DVDs) can commonly require printing at 100%, and using PDF to distribute documents makes Preview.app the most logical choice for many printing jobs.
Having something other than 100% as a default can cause expensive media to be ruined by a mis-scaled printout, unless these 4 (+1) steps are followed every time.
Most other apps, including Safari, Mail.app and TextEdit default to no scaling, making Preview.app an exception.
I am an architect and this is really annoying!
    Does anyone know a workaround?

    Sorry no workaround as yet...
I too am now sick of the amount of expensive paper I have wasted due to the Preview app default print setting of 'Scale to fit'.
    - No option to print at 100%, you have to manually input this information.
    - No way to change this default in preferences, you can change the opening viewing size of a doc to 100% though.
    - Doesn't remember the previous settings if you decide to reopen the doc and print another copy.
I also found that if I attempted to print an A4 doc with bleed and crop marks, it would set the default paper size to A4 and the annoying scale to fit would be set to 83%. If I then changed the scale by typing in 100% but don't hit enter for fear of the print starting and then simply use the drop down to change the paper to A3 and then change the orientation and then hit enter it ignores that you have changed the scale and prints your doc at 83% on A3 - Brilliant!
It's a shame to say that I will be going back to acrobat for pdfs!
If you can't put a 100% scale radio button on the print dialogue box either allow people to change the default in prefs or even better allow the presets to control paper size and scale of printing!

    Hi,
Try saving your settings as a Preset by clicking the Preset drop down and then select Save Current Settings as a Preset.
Next try changing the settings by selecting the saved preset.
That allow saving the settings for a specific printer, I assume it may also allow selecting these settings for another printer.

  • Default printer setting

I have a Canon printer set up as the default printer on my Mac. I also have a Dymo label printer that I use occasionally.Althought the Canon printer is the default printer whenever I choose to print from the Dymo printer (using the printer dialogue box - not changing any default settings) the computer never defaults back to the Canon printer. The next time I print, I must remember to open the dialogue box and change it back to the Canon. I usually forget and end up running out a bunch of expensive labels as the computer trys to print a document to the label printer.
Is there another setting that actually makes the computer default back to the default printer after a certain period of time?
I am using Mac OS 10.7.4 and have the latest firmware and software updates for both printers.

Before I print anything I have a question. When
printing and selecting a printer does if no printer
is selected does it take the default printer from the
computer being used? Depends on the application.
Some desktop apps allow you to choose from among all the printers installed on the client machine.
This assumes that you have a printer installed on the computer in question. Do you? One is designated as the default. If the app doesn't prompt you, chances are good that it's using the default. (But it's not guaranteed.)
    Our office has over 200
printers and unfortunately this is the first time we
have had to print anything. Typically it is
    paperless. Thanks for the help
E.C.I'll assume these are networked printers and not attached locally to a particular machine. Did you add the printer you wanted by searching on the network for a shared server?
200 printers in a paperless office? That's a lot of equipment sitting around doing nothing.
What operating system are you talking about?
What does any of this have to do with Java?

  • Set a particular file to default to print markup

http://forums.adobe.com/message/2397819 shows how I can print a file that has markup with the markup showing. However, I need to be able to give this file to non-sophisticated recipients and have it print with markup when *they* print it.  How do I set the file default to print with markup. It doesn't seem to be an option in File > Properties > Advanced > Print Dialog Presets.  Acrobat Pro 2009

You may try using the Preflight Tool to "Flatten" the image. I don't know
exactly the process behind the technology but it will flatten the annotation
layer of the pdf to the main layer and the comments.
Another alternative may be to print the pdf with the annotations selected
(make sure in Preferences/Commenting the option is set to print notes and
popups) and distribute the resulting file.

  • PSE 10 Printer Setting Defaults to Rear Tray

I have PSE 10. My OS is Windows 7. My printer is a Canon MG6120. The default print tray selected for the computer and all programs is the Cassette. It was selected under Devices and Printers (path: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers). All my programs accept the cassette as the default paper source or Tray, except for PSE 10.
In all other programs, I manually change the Paper Source for rear tray selection through the Printer Properties dialogue window. However, the paper source for my PSE 10, after manually changing from Tray: Rear Tray to Tray: Cassette, resets back to Tray: Rear Tray after printing and even after using the Change Settings and Advanced Settings dialogue windows.  Please see the image insert.
I generally print on bond paper. The rear tray is normally closed. If I'm want to print on photo paper, I open the rear tray and insert the photo paper. I verify that I have the printer set to use the rear tray. After printing on photo paper (from any program) I reset the paper source back to cassette.
My questions are, "How do I correct or override PSE 10's automatic resetting of the paper source to the Rear Tray. How do I convince PSE 10 to accept the front-loading cassette as the default paper source?"
PSE10 also insists on reverting to Landscpe orientation. Please see the image insert.
My questions are, "How do I correct or override PSE 10's automatic resetting of the paper Orientation to Landscape. How do I convince PSE 10 to accept Portrait as the default orientation?"
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

    Thanks for responding.
As I stated in my first paragraph, "The default print tray selected for the computer and all programs is the Cassette. It was selected under Devices and Printers (path: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers)."
The path I note for Windows 7 is exactly the same for Windows 8, sort of surprised you missed that. As you can see, before submitting to the forum, I addressed everything you mentioned; it did not solve the problem. I've updated the Canon driver and restarted the computer; it did not solve the problem. I made auto-select and portrait orientation the defaults; it did not solve the problem.
Hopefully someone else has a solution or can tell me what's causing the problem. Right now I'm guessing it's some kind of PSE .dll corruption. I hope it is not something in the registry. A little later on I'll uninstall and then reinstall PSE 10 see if that works.
Thanks for taking the time to insert the screen shot.

  • How do I force the print dialog to default to Print All?

    Hi all,
I've searched the forums for this and found several similar requests but no answers so I am posting this as a fresh post.
I have a requirement to have the print dialog appear when printing from javascript and have it always default to Print All.  From my research, it appears that there are only two API methods to do this:
    1) Print()
    2) PrintWithDialog()
Neither take paramters.  Both have the same description in the documentation (which seems odd in of itself).
From our research, PrintWithDialog() appears immediately when called (even if the PDF is not yet fully loaded) but always defaults to, "Print 1 of x" unless the PDF is only 1 page.  In that case, it defaults to Print All.
The Print() method defaults to Print All.  However, if you call it before the PDF is fully loaded, it does not show.  I have searched these forums and found many other people running into this issue.  One thread suggested to put in a timer to make sure the PDF is loaded and then call print.  This works for small PDFs but our customers could be printing thousands of pages so there is no way to know how long to make the delay.
I tried paying for Support to answer this question and was told there were NO PAID OPTIONS for getting support on the Acrobat SDK and to come post the question here.  The Support Engineer I spoke with assured me developers read and respond to these forums.
This is a critical issue for an important customer so any feedback is much appreciated.
An Adobe employee (Irosenth) mentioned something about a bug being reopened in this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2601148#2601148) but no bug number was ever given.  If it truly is a bug, please provide the number, description and ETA for fix.
If there is no solution, can I get a response from Adobe that supports my research as posted above?  In other words, confirm that both the API are working as expected?
Finally, given that it seems many people want this functionality, how do I submit an enhancement request?
    Best Regards,
    Brian

I downloaded Reader X and the problem is still occurrring, as was reported by the originator of this thread back in November.
Are there any parameters that need to be set for this to work?  My customer is getting very impatient with this.
Also, since downloading Reader X the toolbar does not appear by default. It pops up when you hover over the top of the window.   How do I get the toolbar to appear by default?  (this is not nearly as important as defaulting the print dialog to Print All on mulitple page docs when using printwithdialog).

  • Incompitible Print Setting Error for HP LJ 8500n in Windows Vista

Hi, I have two laptops, one with Windows XP and another with Windows Vista Business. There is a HP LJ 8500n connected with router and accessed by both laptops. Somehow, when I print from Windows XP laptop and I change the print settings there is no error message. But, when I print from Vista Business Laptop, it prints without any error message for default setting, but when I try to change the print setting (to change the paper size or color) the error message comes with "Incompitible Print Settings. It says: "There are one or more conflicting settings. One of the conflicting settings is: Accessory Output Bin: Not Installed. Output Bin: Mailbox 5." Once I click "Ok" it will have same message with output bin changed to Mailbox 6, etc. After I go through approximately 8 to 10 output bins messages, it gives me the screen where I can change the print settings. After that, I can print with revised setting. But, it is very annoying to go through these messages every time I have change the print settings.
    Please reply, Thank You,

     @fshrago
For the laserjet 3390, you have the option of using the either the Universal Print Driver (network connection) or Windows Update Driver (USB connection)  in windows 8.1.  Neither of these drivers come with a fax or scan driver.
To use the fax and scan driver, you will need to use the Windwos Fax and Scan Software however you will need to be usb connected. I have given you links to documents that explain how to use both the Windwos Update driver and the Windows Fax and Scan Software.
Driver support included in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 or in Windows Update - usb connection only
Use the software in Windows 8 to scan - usb connection only
Please understand that the UPD is a print only driver. If you would like a fax/scan driver you will need to connect via USB and use the Windows Fax and Scan driver along with the Windows Update/In-OS driver.
    Good Luck.

  • Printer setting to print in background ?

    Hello,
Im using F110 to print cheque and advice . I have set in a way to print the advice on the default PC printer (LOCL) and the cheque on a dotmatrix printer that i have created on SPAD. When i test this advice and cheque using TEST TRANSACTION , i could print both advice and cheque at the same time on different printer at the same time. But F110 creates a background job and the jobs triggers the print.
The setting on SPAD for my printers,
    1) DOTMATRIX(Cheque)
    device attribute -> devicetype = TWSPWIN ,
    Device class = Standard printer
Access method -> Hot spool access method = F F:Printing on front end printer , HOST PRINTER = <My network printer name(dotmatrix)> , I have also CHECKED (X) "NO DEVICE SELECTION AT FRONTEND"
    2) 1) LOCL
    device attribute -> devicetype = TWSPWIN ,
    Device class = Standard printer
    LOCATION = <Location of the printer >.
Access method -> Hot spool access method = F F:Printing on front end printer , HOST PRINTER = __DEFAULT.
Im sure that 'F F:Printing on front end printer' will print when i execute in foreground . But F110 executes the print in background, hence the spool created results in error "frountend unavailable" .
How can i handle this issue . Should i configure the printer to which i need to send advice in SAP instead of using LOCAL . If i configure what are the parameters i need to maintain w.r.t background execution as im now using 'F F:Printing on front end printer ' on access method.
    Please advice .
    Thanks,
    Jeeva.

    Hi Jeeva,
I cannot give you the details for the printer configuration but I am sure that you can not print using printer LOCL in background. In background this will always error out as is your case at the moment. You need to define the printer in SPAD.
You can try the access method as L. We have a printer with similar config used for background printing.
