Default upside down

Hey, I seem to have this problem with Illustrator where all my defaults are upside down and backward. For example, everytime I start a text box, the text starts upside down in the bottom right corner moving to the left. Is this a preset that I can change so I don't have to flip text every time I want to work in a new document? Thanks!

Preferences: set the Constrain angle to 0°

  • When I take a picture with my IPhone and send it to my home computer, why do the pictures turn sideways or upside down (it's an HP windows computer)

When I take a picture with my IPhone and send it to my home computer (HP Windows) why does the picture turn out sideways or upside down?

OK, here's the explanation.  When you take a picture, the iPhone knows what orientation it is in (portrait, landscape, etc.) and adds that information to the picture's EXIF data so it knows which side is up.  Apple devices can decode this information and show the picture right side up when it is viewed.  However, Windows computers cannot do this.  They are not capable of decoding the orientation information added by the iPhone, so they are displayed in a default orientation (which may not be right side up).
This only happens on Windows machines, and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it, except use the rotation buttons in Windows picture view to orient the photo correctly.

  • Problem with duplex printing - alternate pages upside down

I have been trying to print 2 per side, double sided from Adobe Reader. I have tried this as two up, duplex and also as booklet printing. Whatever I do, the second side is upside down. "Flip on long/short edge" appears to make no difference.
Trying to resolve it in the printer properties is worse: Adobe Reader seems to override them and I get single sheets single sided. If I select both "two sided" in the Reader dialog and "Duplex" in the printer dialog, the second side overprints the first side (but is the right way up!.
I am using Reader 10.1.2 with Windows 7 and an HP Deskjet 6980 printer with duplex unit using the Windows 7 default drivers. I have installed the "AdobeReaderPatch10.1.2_cpsid_92870.zip".
There must be a combination of settings which works! Can anybody help? Please?

TThat is my problem also. You are flipping to the long side, you need to flip to the short side. I order to get the back one to be right side up. I was able to get windows 8 to do that today without doing anything beside selecting landscape and flip to short side. But when I use my iPad I donot have that selection. I need software to be able to have that option.

  • InDesign CS3-Placed PDF is upside-down

    Hey All.
    Strange problem...
When I place a PDF into ID3 the pdf appears upside-down. This does not happen with all PDF's and will happen with a problem pdf until the pdf has been recreated.
I'm guessing there is a preference setting somewhere that has been modified that is causing this to happen when certain parameters are included in a pdf.
I have gone back to default settings for ID3 and the problem does not occur. So I'm assuming that it is a change we have made to a preference. I can't for the life of me figure out which one it is though.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like the default frame setting is rotated.

  • When I send videos or photos by email they are sometimes received upside down.help.

When I email videos or photos they are sometimes received upside down.help.

You need to clarify your statement/question a little bit more. What device are using to take the photo? I assume that you are using your iPad, but I don't know that for a fact because you simply say "whenever I take a picture". I also assume that you are using the built in mail app and not a third party mail app, but can't say for sure about that either without more details from you.
When I take a photo with the iPad, if I attach/insert a photo in an email directly in the mail app, the photo defaults to the actual size, which is the highest resolution that it can be. The size of the photo can be made smaller, but it defaults to the largest size.

  • In Mavericks iPhoto slide shows, why do the last pics come first, some pics are upside down, and some vertical pics are horizontal?  How can I fix this?

On my iMac OSX, 10.9.4, Mavericks, I have been trying to view an album as a slide show.  The slide show starts at the end (bottom row picture) instead of the beginning (top 1st picture).  I have gone to View>Sort Photos>Manual.  But the order of Ascending and Descending choices are greyed out with the default check by Ascending.  How can I start at my beginning without rearranging all the photos?  Also, some of the photos are upside down and sideways, even though they are correct in the album.  How can I fix this??   Thank you!  Also, can I include a video in the slide show?  Up to how many seconds/minutes?

Is this a slideshow created directly from an album?
There's a bug with iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks in that slideshows from Albums do not play correctly if they are sorted manually.  Only photos that have been sorted by date, keyword, rating or title will play from albums correctly.
To have a slideshow with photos sorted manually use the slideshow mode in iPhoto.

  • Imported images upside down and blurred Lightroom 1.4

Hiya everyone. First post on here so I hope I am putting this in the right place but hope you can help me. I have had a trawl through the archives but havent seen a fix for this problem.
When I try to import images direct from my camera (Canon EOS 30D)into Lightroom, they have started to be displayed on the IMPORT page upside down and very poor quality. If I go ahead with the import they are displayed in LR proper in the correct orientation and clear quality.
I have done a system restore back to a few days ago when it was working ok, and have tried uninstall and then reinstall. I have also taken my camera back to its default settings in case that is the cause, but nothing has worked.
I am using the following -
    Lightroom 1.4
    Dell Studio 1535 laptop
    Windows Vista
    Intel Core Duo @2GHz
    4GB Ram
Hope you can help as I am wary of putting all my photos on LR now in case it fails - I am using Picasa as a storage instead.
    Thanks everyone

Are you going straight from the camera? Take my advice - don't. Use a card reader instead.

  • 2nd gen iPod nano has blurry, upside down and backwards text suddenly

I have a second gen iPod nano and after a couple of weeks the screen is blurry upside down and the text is backwards. I have tried resetting it and restoring to factory defaults. Nothing helps. It is fully charged. I followed the troubleshooting instructions from Apple and I didn't find this listed on the forum.  Thanks for the help.

I would have to disagree with you. I like the shake and shuffle feature. I would assume people also use ipods for travelling/commuting. Bus rides, trains, flights and so on.
But, to each their own opinions I guess.
    Peace!

  • Vision Builder for Automated Inspection: Image randomly appears upside down

    Hi everyone,
I seem to be having a rather unusual problem here. I'm using an IDS UI-6280 camera to simply take a picture and log it to a file every minute. However, about 50% of the times when I start VBAI, the image appears upside down. The only solution I have found so far is to close VBAI and start it again. It usually takes a couple of tries before the image turn back up again, and then it's okay for the next couple of times I open VBAI. I have found no clues at all as to what could be causing this. Has anyone experienced something like this before?
    Clarification:
    - Once VBAI is running, the image does not flip randomly. If the first image is upside down, so are all the subsequent images. If the first image is upright, so are all the subsequent images. The flipping only seems to happen when I open VBAI.
    - The flipping only seems to happen when I use VBAI. Using the IDS software always gives an upright image.
    - There is about a 50-50 distribution between upside down and upright images. However, there seems to be some pattern in when the flipping occurs. I just opened and closed VBAI 10 times, the upside down and upright state occured in an order like this (x=upside down, 0=upright): x0xxx00000
Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Does the camera have an attribute for flipping it? If it does, the camera may not handle this attribute well when VBAI sets this attribute in conjunction with the other attributes as fast as VBAI can when it is initializing the camera. Most cameras respond when they are done and ready for the next attribute to be set, but some cameras respond before the attribute is done being set and can get in a messed up state if another attribute is set too quickly. You could try using the Read/Write Attribute Step in VBAI to manually set the flip attribute off before you acquire (make sure to set the flag to always set this attribute even if the current value is the same as what it will set to).
    2. If you acquire an image in MAX, is it upside down? Try Clicking on the camera in MAX, acquire, click to another camera or to another device (this will release the resources for the camera), click back on camera again in MAX and acquire again. Repeat this several times and see if you have the same flipping behavior as in VBAI.
    3. If you create a new inspection with just an acquisition step, does it still happen? Make sure not to change any of the default attributes for this test case. This will ensure the VBAI step uses the same settings you would see in MAX.
    4. What if you try using Snap Shot mode in the acquisition step instead of Immediate mode.
    Hope this helps,
    Brad

  • Artboard 2 of 2 prints upside down - Windows 7

I use Windows 7 - when printing two artboards meant to be two sides on one sheet, the second prints upside down.
When printing pdfs for distribution and print-out, I am forced to turn the second artboard upside down, so that it prints normally.
I have seen posts on the forum stating that this is not an Illustrator issue.  I'm sorry, but it is.
A thread about the matter saw the person with the problem 'resolve' it by having to tweak the print dialog EVERY time they print.
This just isn't good enough. In certain quarters this would be called a bug.
If the second of two artboards CAN indeed be made to print normally in Windows, then the feature making this possible is obviously VERY difficult to locate and the interface must be made more intuitive with respect to this issue.
I have experienced the issue on multiple machines and printers, so it isn't specific to one machine / printer.
    Thanks

If it was a bug, everyone would have the same problem. I run Illustrator in Windows every day, and I've never encountered it.
I've no desire to argue over it, but I'll take one stab here at convincing you it is indeed a simple case of the default setting in the printer diver with respect to the flip direction of 2-sided printing. If you, (and the person with the same problem in that other thread), would change the printer defaults to flip or "tumble" the other way, it would solve the problem, and there would be no need to address it every time you print. Have you tried saving as PDF and printing from Acrobat?

But the image is getting generated Exact Upside Down. How can i resolve this issue?

perhaps there's an orientation parameter in the new API or they changed the defaults? I'm not sure, you could always rotate it 180 degrees manually.

  • Photographs from iPhone upside down as wallpaper in Mac

When I set a photograph taken with my iPhone 4S as a wallpaper in my MacBook, the photograph appears upside down. The attributes of the photo say "Orientation: 180º", but I haven't changed any default setting in Mac or in iPhone. However, when I open the photograph normally, it is in the right way.
Have this happened to any of you? Thanks a lot.

It's always right side up if the picture is in a text message or opened in an email in an  iOS device. However in my case like using a laptop to open some mail the pictures I've taken from my iPhone is always upside down or sideways. If I then try to rotate it, for some pictures my computer will give an error message that the picture can't be saved with the changes because of something about the file properties.  It is possible that it's my computer but if you have a pc and an iPhone try it.
Also if I edit the pictures in iPhoto using my iPhone the pictures opened in my pc is always right side up with no problems.  Or if I import the pictures using the windows photo application most of the time the pictures will import correctly but like in my case a few nights ago some pictures were upside down and sideways and could not be saved after rotating it.

  • I'd like to know how to remove the upside down triangle history

I don't remember seeing the upside down triangle in the location bar before. Is it something I can remove?
I tried to add a screen shot, but I couldn't figure out how to do that.

That drop down marker has always been there and will show items that you have types or pasted in the location/address bar ordered by frecency (recently and frequently visited sites).
It is possible to hide this icon if you really want to.

I have an iphone 4s when I take pictures and send them to my computer or someone else they appear upside down. I have a window operating system. Is there anything I can do to reverse the pictures?

So if you forget about ever hearing of EXIF, my point should be clear...
You can't forget about exif, that's why it's there.
I didn't mean it that way. I meant forget about EXIF for a moment and realise that the iphones 'upright position' is with the volume buttons on the bottom, but now that Apple want you to use the volume button, the camera is now upside down.  Now, with the majority of iphone users, they're not using top end cameras and software, they're taking pictures and video of their kids - with the volume button - and sending it to grandma and grandpa - straight from the phone, either by mms or email - and they're receiving them upside down.
Yes, everyone should get with the EXIF program, but Apple should've also thought about which orientation they're default setting is, especially now that they've flipped it and changed the way we take pictures and video.
I have to admire your tenacity with this issue. Tempted as I might be to so something dismissive like "Things change, get over it" Lets look ahead to what might, in the future, provide what you want.
As it is now, given the processing power and memory of the iPhone 4S, Apple has been able to provide a wonderfully acceptable picture taking performance, good enough to even support the "Burst Mode" taking of a sequence of pictures very rapidly.
Perhaps, with the iPad 2S ( or iPad 3 as it may be called) there may be enough of an increment of hardware resources to provide in camera processing between shots. Even if they did provide that for still images, think about how much processing power would be needed to do an in camera reorientation of a large video file.
Realistically, this is a trade off in resource use that is unlikely to be possibe with even the next hardware generation beyond, the iPhone 5 or the iPad 4. Why would I say that? Because none of the high priced DSLR cameras attempt in camera processing. manipulating large matrices of pixels in a DSLR or an iPhone or an iPad is way beyond reason.
The bottom line is that if you share phots with folks whose computer is so old that they are still happily using Microsoft IE 6 ( for example) they are unlikely to even think of getting an upgrade to their video viewing software that is EXIF aware.
That leaves the onus on you and I to routinely do a "Save As...." operation on our video and still images, on our own computers, before we send them out to the older aunts and grannies of our families.
Suppose, Apple were to suddenly flip the relationship of the picture upright position and the volume button. Then you would have the millions of newer users suddenly as disturbed as you are. Apple is in a no win situation.
At my age (76) after decades of Mac support work starting in the days of my long departed Apple Lisa computer, I have come to accept the reality that "Things change, so I might as well get over it"
    Your mileage may vary.
With kindest regards, and genuine compassion for your position.
    John
