Default VCS certificate - SIP-TLS Local Database Registration

Hi,
Can someone please tell me if it's possible to use the default VCS certificate for SIP-TLS registration for endpoints listed under the local database? If so will this work by default or is there extra configuration required?
Thanks

Hello Ovindo -
Because you're running a VCS with X7.2.2 software, and using an guide that's meant for X7.0, what you're looking for has changed since that guide.
Please take a look at the X7.2.2 release notes on page 10, "Device Authentication".
You should be using this device authentication guide for your version of VCS software.

  • VCS' certificates for transversal zone / unable to to connect to server TLS negotiation failure

    Hi,
I am trying to connect two traversal zones VCSE as a server and VCSC as a client but i am having the next error:
    VCSE:
    tvcs: Event="Inbound TLS Negotiation Error" Service="SIP" Src-ip="10.1.1.1" Src-port="25234" Dst-ip="10.1.1.10" Dst-port="7001" Detail="tlsv1 alert unknown ca" Protocol="TLS" Level="1" UTCTime="2015-01-28 18:51:09,080"
    VCSC:
    2015-01-28T14:32:09-04:30tvcs: Event="Outbound TLS Negotiation Error" Service="SIP" Src-ip="192.168.1.2" Src-port="25267" Dst-ip="10.1.1.10" Dst-port="7001" Detail="unable to get local issuer certificate" Protocol="TLS" Common-name="name-vcse.myname.com" Level="1" UTCTime="2015-01-28 19:02:09,081"
I follow the steps in this document: "http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/X8-2/Cisco-VCS-Certificate-Creation-and-Use-Deployment-Guide-X8-2.pdf" and trying with Windows Server Authentication and Client Authentication and with OpenSSL but have the same results.
In my firewall i can telnet the 10.1.1.10 port 7001 and also from a device from the network 192.168.1.0 to 10.1.1.10 port 7001 (not firewall issues i think)
Also i tested the certificate in my VCSC and get the following error:
Invalid: The client certificate is not signed by a CA in the trusted CA list.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,

    Anthony,
You're missing the Certificate Authority certificate who signed one of the servers certs. Presumably what is missing is the CA (root) certificate that signed the Expressway-E's cert. Here is a general rule of thumb.
The certificate of the signer of the VCS-C/Expressway-C certificate should be present on the VCS-E/Expressway-E under the Trusted CA section.
The certificate of the signer of the VCS-E/Expressway-E certificate should be present on the VCS-CExpressway-C under the Trusted CA section.
it's not uncommon that you could be dealing with a condition where one of the servers certs was signed by an intermediate. If this is the case you simply just need to follow the chain of the certificates and make sure they are all included within the Trusted CA list on the respective server. The main thing to look at with the certificates are the Common Names of the Subject and Issuer. Below is an example of a fake certificate.
    VCS-E/Expressway-E Cert
    Issuer: CN=RootCAIntermediate – G5     <-- Signer
    Subject: CN=Expressway-E.domain.com
    RootCAIntermediate –G5 Certificate
    Issuer: CN=RootCAIntermediate Trust    <-- Signer
    Subject: CN=RootCAIntermediate – G5
    RootCAIntermediate Trust
    Issuer: CN=RootCA   <-- Signer
    Subject: CN=RootCAIntermediate Trust
    RootCA Certificate
    Issuer: CN=RootCA   <-- Signer
    Subject: CN=RootCA
If you are missing anyone of these, you will get the unknown CA error. When the RootCA (The real root) is uploaded to the VCS/Expressway server it’s Issuer will be RootCA and the Subject will be “Matches Issuer”.
I hope this can help you.

  • VCS Local database Authentication

    Hi Everyone,
    As my subject above,
I want to set my VCS Expressway's Authentication to use Local Database,
So all user (either H323 and SIP) must have valid username and password to do registration with my VCS Expressway,
In Cisco's guide Cisco_VCS_Authenticating_Devices_Deployment_Guide_X7-0 said that I must go to VCS configuration > Authentication > Devices > Configuration and change Database Type to Local Database,
But the problem is I can not find this menu in my VCS Expressway,
Attached screen capture from my VCS Expressway.
How can I set the Database Type if I can not find this important menu?
My VCS Expressway software is x7.2.2.
    Please advise :(
    regards,
    Thanks,
    Ovindo

  • VCS X8.5.1 SIP TLS to CUCM 8.6.2

I'm having problems enabling TLS on my SIP trunk from the VCS to CUCM.
The SIP trunk shows active on the VCS, but I can't make calls from VCS to CUCM or from CUCM to VCS.
Before configuring TLS, I was able to make these calls.
With TLS enabled, the VCS search for calls from VCS to CUCM show the call rejected and give the reason "Forbidden"
Calls from CUCM to VCS get fast busy and I do not see anything in the search history on the VCS.
I've restarted the trunk and call manager service on the CUCM servers, but no change.
I'm not really sure where to go from here.
I followed the following guide for configuring the SIP trunk. http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/X8-5/Cisco-VCS-SIP-Trunk-to-Unified-CM-Deployment-Guide-CUCM-8-9-10-and-X8-5.pdf
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I have again checked these and identical to what I set up, We have a multiple TX9000's on the CUCM in Secure mode working perfect and can make Encrypted calls to the TPS server via a TPS TCP Trunk.
but any calls to the VCS just fail on a VCS To CUCM Trunk using TLS with a fast busy signal. and the VCS doesn't even show a search history for it.
In the eyes of the VCS and the CUCM there is no Issues with the TLS SIP Trunk it seems to be working, but It seems SIP TLS packets don't even leave the CUCM. I have tried almost every resource known, and thought it was me just having some random issue until I saw Josef post the same issue.
Tomorrow I will check the X.509 names on the CUCM SIP Security Profile as this is the only thing I can think of that might cause the SIP trunk to be OK up but not route correctly maybe?

  • Unable to connect to local database... (what hsould i do ?)

    hi guys,
I am having this error when i startup my LOCAL database. it says
ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter LOCAL_LISTENER
ORA-00132: syntax error or unresolved network name 'LISTENER'
i revert back everything to very very basic.
    now in my
    LISTENER.ORA
    I have only this.
    # listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
    # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = szejie)(PORT = 1521))
    IN my TNSNAMES.ORA
    i have got this,
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = szejie)(PORT = 1521)
IN MY pfile or SPFILE, i have got this
    *.local_listener='LISTENER'
WHEN I type STARTUP in SQLPLUS, i still got this error
    SYS@orcl on 07-MAR-09> startup
ORA-00119: invalid specification for system parameter LOCAL_LISTENER
ORA-00132: syntax error or unresolved network name 'LISTENER'
WILL PMON, automatically register my ORCL service with the the LISTENER ?
    What should i do ?
    Please help thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Noob

    Hello,
Are you trying to register different port than default port 1521?
Do this or take local_listener completly out of your pfile and try with out
Edit your sqlnet.ora and add the value of NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN to the alias in the tnsnames.ora:
    set the domain to "world"
    *sqlnet.ora:*
    NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN=world
    init.ora:
    LOCAL_LISTENER=LISTENER
In order to resolve this issue with LISTENER, it is necessary to add the domain "world" to the tnsnames.ora file entry
Or Edit init.ora file and remove loca_listener from it.
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
sql> startup nomount pfile='/path_to_pfile/init.ora'; -- it will process all the init.ora parameter and let you know if you have to resolve more
    If successfully processed
    sql> alter database mount;
    sql> alter database open;
Once successfully opened, then shutdown it down
    sql> shutdown immediate;
    sql> create spfile from pfile='/path_to_pfile/init.ora';
    sql>startup;Regards

  • How to use local database for Education Portal

    Hi All,
We are implementing a Education Portal (learning Solution) and here are our requirements
    1. Course details are stored in R/3 portal
    2. When users login to the education portal, course catalog should be displayed with all the details and here the course catalog should not be displayed directly from R/3.
    3. course catalog should be read from some local database or XML ( how to update the local database/ XML from R/3 data periodically)
    4. Once when user sees the course details, if he wants to buy the course, he will register and do the payment.
    5. User details should be stored in the local database and only if he do the payment and his registration details will be stored in the R/3.
Is any one have any idea how to go ahead with the above function and give some inputs.
    Regards
    Ponnusamy

    Hi,
Basically, you would have to use plain JDBC / Open SQL or some persistence framework on top of it (e.g. JPA if you're on Java EE 5 / NW CE 7.1, or EJB CMP, JDO, Hibernate with previous NW releases) to store and load data in the local DB. For updating the backend ("R/3") you would use SAP JRA which is based on SAP JCo.
Search for these terms on help.sap.com and you will find plenty of information about it.
    HTH!

  • Can you reload the default HTTPS certificate for a Border Controller?

The HTTPS page does not work for the Tandberg Border Controller (Q6.3). HTTP is fine. I believe that the customer uploaded their own certificate which has now “broken” the HTTPS page.
So the question is – can you reload the default HTTPS certificate for a Border Controller?
There’s a handy button to do this on the VCS but not on the BC it seems. The only option I can see is for the customer to generate a “working” certificate and upload it, is this the only option?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi sherylz,
It is also possible to edit the theme, but it may be wise to make a copy of it:

  • Can't see Tables from a local database

I've installed 10G client and the default ORCL database that comes with it. I've create a user and some tables under this user. From within TOAD I can see the tables fine.
In JDeveloper 10.1.2 I set up a DB Connection and connect to the database ok but under the Tables option, no tables are loaded.
I've got other DB Connections to non local databases that I can view fine.
The driver is thin oracle.JDBC.driver.OracleDriver (the same as the non local databases).
Any ideas? How does JDeveloper actually connect, presumably it uses something different to what TOAD uses?

Toad uses SQL*Net while JDev uses a JDBC connection.
To ask the obvious, you don't have a filter on the table node do you?
Have you also tried connecting via SQL*Plus and:
    select table_name from user_tables;
...to see if you can access the tables.

  • RV320 "DNS Local Database" no function

I did setup a brand new RV320 today. Firmware is v1.1.0.09.
I am facing the following problem...
I filled the "DNS local database" with names and IPs and expected that
clients connected via DHCP will be able to use that names in the LAN
instead of IPs. DNS server mode is set to "Use DNS Proxy".
However, clients don't get the names resolved as expected.
Any idea, what does go wrong?

I found the same issue after setting up a local hostname in the DNS table in my RV320 (firmware v1.1.0.06) about a week ago but I don't think the explanation in your "reply" is correct. What I noticed at first is that I couldn't ping the host by name from my Windows PC, but it worked fine from my Android tablet or Linux PC. Experimenting a bit more yesterday, I ran Wireshark while pinging from my Windows PC and discovered that if I used a host name, but not a domain, the PC sent a couple of LLMNR packets (destination IP 224.0.0.252), to which it got no reply, then gave up. If I pinged an external site from Windows, e.g. www.google.co.uk, it issued a single DNS query, destination 192.168.0.1, got a response either from the RV320's proxy cache or the ISP's DNS, and carried on with echoes. If I add a domain extension to the local hostname in the name table, e.g my router's default domain, router44fda0.com, and ping hostname.router44fda0.com, the PC also issues a DNS query, and gets an instant (well, 0.864 millisecs) response from the RV320. I set up my target host with Bonjour (the avahi daemon), and pinging hostname.local from my Windows PC, found that it began with a double multicast DNS (mDNS) query (destination IP 224.0.0.251) asking for the same nodename on IPv4 (type A query) and on IPv6 (type AAAA query), to which my target Linux system responded with hostname.local and the IPv4address, but not the IPv6 address. To my surprise,125 millisecs after the PC  received the IPv4 address, it issued a DNS query to the router, which responded  "no such name" (the hostname was still set up with the router's default domain extension). Even stranger, the PC then issued two LLMNR queries with just the hostname, not the .local extension, to which it got no replies, and finally a second mDNS query, this time a single IPv6 (type AAAA) request for hostname.local, to which it also got no replies. So only the first mDNS query got a successful response. I presume that if had got a successful response from any of the other queries, they would have superceded the first response, i.e. it is saying if the DNS disagrees with the multicast DNS, the DNS is right, if LLMNR disagrees with mDNS and DNS, then LLMNR is right, and if it gets an IPv6 response to the mDNS query, that trumps everything!
My point is that the RV320 does respond to a DNS request, even if it only has a host name in its table. The problem encountered above is that Windows does not issue a DNS request if you ask it to open a host name with no domain.
BTW, I understand that the only reason my PC issues an mDNS query is that Apple install an mDNS extension when iTunes is installed. The mDNS query is only issued if the domain is .local

  • SIP TLS/sRTP on Cisco border router (CUBE)

    Hello!
Need help configuring SIP TLS for Skype Connect on CUBE (Cisco 2821, 15.1 IOS). Maybe someone has already set up at a similar functionality. Particularly interested in the question about the CA-signed certificate (maintain, installation).

I think you need to post here: https://communities.cisco.com/community/developer

  • Same user in tacacs and local database with different privilege

    Hi there,
i am just not sure if this is correct behavior.
i am running NX-OS image n5000-uk9.5.1.3.N1.1.bin on the nexus 5020 platform.
i have configured authorization with tacacs+ on ACS server version 5.2 with fall back to switch local database.
aaa authentication login default group ACS
aaa authorization commands default group ACS local
    aaa accounting default group ACS
a user test with priv 15 is craeted on ACS server, password test2
everything works fine, until i create the same username on the local database with privilege 0. ( it doesnt matter if the user in local database was created before user in ACS or after )
    e.g.:
username test password test1 role priv-0   (note passwords are different for users in both databases)
after i create the same user in local database with privilege 0,
if i try to connect to the switch with this username test and password defined on ACS,  i get only privilege 0 authorization, regardless, that ACS server is up and it should be primary way to authenticate and authorizate the user.
    is this normal?
    thank you for help...

    Hello.
Privileges are used with traditional IOS. Privileges are part of "command authorization". Other operating systems (like IOS-XR, Nexus OS , Juniper JunOS) use "role-based authorization" instead of "command authorization".
So traditional IOS can use the "privilege" attribute but other operating systems can not.
Although IOS-XR, Nexus, ACE, Juniper  have "roled-based authorization" feature, every single one of them use their particular attributes.
When I was configuring TACACS with ACE, Juniper and other devices I had to capture the packets to find out what were the particular attributes of ACE, what were the particular attributes of JunOS, etc, etc and to search deeply some hints the documentation , because sadly  documentation is not very good when talking about TACACS details.
If you find which attributes to use, and what values to assign to the attributes then you can go to ACS and configure a "Shell Profile".
Now back to Nexus 5000. It seems this particular device has the option to mix "role-based" with "command authorization" by overriding the default roles with other roles which names are called "priv". It seems this was an effort to try to map the old concept of "privileges" to the new concept of "roles". Although you see the word "priv", it's just the name of the role. My particular point of view is that this complicates the whole thing. I would recommend to use just the default roles, or customize some of them (only if needed), but not to use "command authorization".
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5000/sw/security/502_n1_1/Cisco_n5k_security_config_gd_rel_502_n1_1_chapter5.html
I will search the particular attributes Nexus use to talk to TACACS server. If I got them I will post them here.
    Please rate if it helps

  • Can i use local database in webdynpro

    Hai,

  • Remote and local databases

let say that i access a oracle form through the web and that form access data from two distributed databases, then will there be a remote database and local database for the user or all the databases will be remote databases to the user

    In my opinion.
using local databases -- access tables without DB_link
using Remote databases -- access tables through DB_link

  • CSCus07365 - should I not use DNS local database at all or I can enable it again after disabling?

I had an issue with my RV320 that it suddenly stops answering DNS queries from my LAN. I just found out that a new firmware was released last month (v1.1.1.19), and one of its "known issues" is bug id CSCus07365 according to the release notes:
Sometimes the DNS process is gone and can not reply the DNS request from LAN network.
Solution: Check if you have enabled DNS local database feature on RV320/325, disable it, and then configure and save the WAN setting page again.
From that description I am not sure if this is a one-time issue after upgrading (so that I should disable and re-enable it), or if this is still a current issue and it will be better to keep away from DNS local database at all until a new firmware is released.
    Thanks in advance!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
