Defaulting the new Indian Rupee symbol in Numbers

In Numbers, when I choose Indian Rupee as currency in cell format, I am still getting the old Rupee symbol. When I try to change the symbol to the new one, the cell format is getting changed as text.
How do I default the new Rupee symbol in cell format?
Meaning when I go to the inspector, under "Cells" when I choose Cell format as Currency, I get a drop down of various currencies, including that of Indian Rupee. Here I want the new symbol to be defaulted.

As far as I know, the feature which is not a Numbers one but a system one is unavailable.
At last Apple adopted a more correct list of currencies symbols but I guess that they will need about ten years to discover that there is a new one for the Indian Rupee.
On my French System, your currency is displayed as "Rs".
My own tip would be to use two columns, one fo the amounts, one for the Rupee symbol.
We see the columns when the cursor is in the table but we don't see the separator, defined to None, when the cursor is no longer in the table.
Of course, you are free to send a request to Apple thru the dedicated channel :
Go to "Provide Numbers Feedback" in the "Numbers" menu, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait at least for iWork'11 or 12 ;-)
I must add that I guess that if you get satisfaction one day, it will be an incomplete one.
On my French system, the currecy used here is correctly displayed as € but if I run the system in a language unused in Europe, the same currency is displayed as Euro.
Same behavior withe the dollar. When exemples are posted here by US askers we may see $ 12.45
but if I run the original document here on my French system, I get : 12,45 $US

    Hello,
Please check the SAP note 1503523 for your problem.
A summary of the content is given below:
-The Unicode Consortium plans to encode INDIAN RUPEE SIGN on code
point   U+20B9. It is planned that this encoding decision is formally
released  on October 11th with Unicode 6.0.
    - We recommend to postpone usage of the new character INDIAN RUPEE
SIGN until the character and its code point have been formally
    released with Unicode standard 6.0.
    - When you decide to use INDIAN RUPEE SIGN before it is formally
released, make sure, that your input methods and fonts use the code
point U+20B9 for the INDIAN RUPEE SIGN and that the official  layout of
the INDIAN RUPEE SIGN is used.
    - Using a different code point for the INDIAN RUPEE SIGN will cause
future problems with data consistency, data communication and
searching. Especially code point U+20A8 RUPEE SIGN may not be reused
for the  INDIAN RUPEE SIGN since the technical behaviour of the to
    characters is different.
    - SAP currently does not provide input methods or fonts which cover
the INDIAN RUPEE SIGN nor has any suggestions, which input   methods or
    fonts can be used.
    - INDIAN RUPEE SIGN cannot be used in Non-Unicode SAP systems.
    Regards,
    David

There is no Unicode for this symbol (yet), so this is the only way.

  • I upgraded to Yosemite several days ago.  The new itunes will display episode numbers.  Does the new itunes allow editing of episode numbers?

I upgraded to the new operating system, Yosemite, on my 13" macbook pro.  I installed the new itunes in the process of upgrading.  My itunes library includes music files with "episode numbers."  iTunes will display these, but appears not to allow me to enter episode numbers for newly acquired music.  Is there a way I can edit episode numbers?  If not, is it considered a bug?  Can we expect a future release of iTunes in which this is fixed?  If not, why not?  Why has Apple disrupted its customer base's use of its products?  It doesn't seem like a good idea to eliminate useful functionality from your products.

I don't know why it would take 6 hours to back up your iPad - unless you have the 64GB device and you have it loaded to the gills with content already. It should not take that long.
You can backup your iPad to your computer and transfer all purchases into iTunes and you should not have to restore the device to factory settings. When you connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left sidebar and select Transfer Purchases. That will put all of the apps and purchased content into Tunes on your Mac. Let that process complete and then right click on the device name again and select Backup this time. Let that process complete.
Now go into all of the different tabs of iTunes, Info, Apps, Music, Photos, etc, etc, and make sure that you have selected all of the content that you want to sync with the iPad. Put checkmarks in all of the headings as well - Sync Apps, Sync Music, etc.... Then click on Sync in the lower right corner.
If something goes wrong - or if you forget an app or a playlist or album - or anything at all - just go back into the corresponding tab in iTunes, select the item to sync - and click on Apply in the lower right corner.
After you do all of this - you can set up Wi-Fi syncing and it should go without issue. You can backup to iCloud or to iTunes as you see fit. Personally, I am not relying solely on iCloud yet. I do backup to iCloud, but I still back up to iTunes on my Mac as well - and I use Time Machine to backup all of that up.

Also selected in SAP/Admin/System /initialization/General Settings.
But how to set by default currency new symbol instead of INR.
    plz help.

    Hi Ravi.....
Once you started your transactions under INR currency you can not set other currency as your local.
You can do it by other way.
Put all the business partners in All Currencies and set the ex. rate for Indian Rupee 1 equal to INR currency...
and when you select any of the BP into marketing form just select BP currency and select Rupee Currency.
This way your transction goes under Rupee Symbol......
    Regards,
    Rahul

  • Indian Currency Symbol in PLD

Iam using SAP 8.8 PL 13. I have downloaded the Indian rupee font and updated the same in System Initialisation->General Setting-> Fonts. Also under setup->Finance->Currency, I have mapped the new Indian currency along with its symbol/code. In my transactions i can see the currency symbol along with the price, but in the PLD I cannot. Foreign currency symbols like Dollar and Pound are visible both at the transactiona level as well as PLD. How to map the new Indian currency symbol in PLD?
    Rgds

    Hi..
I think you might have taken Variable Field on PLD & try to take Database Field it will show you RS. Currency Symbol

  • Why is it that the new macbook pro processor upgrade option only offers up to 2.8 Ghz with Intel Dual Core i7, when back in Sep 12 I bought a 2.9 Ghz Intel Dual Core i7 Macbook, is the new one tuned to go much faster anyway?

Why is it that the new Macbook Pro processor upgrade option only offers up to 2.8 Ghz boosting to 3.3 Ghz with Intel Dual Core i7, when back in Sep 12 I bought a 2.9 Ghz boosting to 3.6 Ghz Intel Dual Core i7 Macbook, is the new one tuned somehow to go much faster anyway, or will the new one be slower in fact?  Or does the solid state drive compensate for the lack of increased processor capacity?

The CPU's come from different Intel 'families'.  The older ones are 'Ivy Bridge' and the newer ones are 'Haswell'.  Numbers alone will not determine the efficiency of  CPU.
    Ciao.

You get all the new iWork suite (Pages 5, Numbers 3 & Keynote 6) free with your Mac purchase. You just need to go to the App Store and sign in with your Apple I.D.
We warn against relying on the new iWork Apps, they really are just public betas and we are getting a number of users here with unopenable files. Bad news if this is your Masters.
iWork '09 can be purchased as a Boxed DVD set from Amazon US$27, or online.
It is much more usable and safer (not totally).
LibreOffice [free] does not have as polished a UI but is actively supported, and uses open file formats as well as MsOffice formats. It also has the advantage of opening/saving virtually every known format on the planet (wish it would do Pages!) and has a usable but not briliant intgrated database.
