Defaulting to previously set styles

Hi there. Silly but annoying problem....
I open a file that is full of all sorts of styles. I love styles and use them all the time but when I add a new text box of object to a page, I want it to be UNSTYLED but instead, it automatically defaults to a previously set style. I have to go into styles and and click "None". How can I set it up so a new element does NOT default to a previosuly set style?
I am on Mac OS 10.4.11 - InDesign CS3

Open the Object Styles panel.
You have two choices, at this point, either create a new style and set it as the default, or edit [Basic Text Frame] and continue to use it, whcih is probably easier. To do that, double-click the name to open the style definition dialog and then click the Paragraph Styles line in the top list in the left section. In the dropdown change the style to [No Paragraph Style], make sure the box next to Paragraph Styles in the list is checked, and say OK.

    Select a Finder window, Finder->View->Customize Toolbar…, and add it back.

    OCCASIONALLY I can hear my laptop fan whirring excessively when using the web. If it happened too much, I've quit the browser and the laptop soon cools off. This started when using Safari, and was why I thought I'd try Firefox for a while. Apart from the default browser issue, I've found Firefox easier to use and more reliable. I can't say for sure that this 'overheat' issue has never happened with Firefox since I installed it.

  • Visio 2013 Default Line and Connector Styles

    This question has been asked previously, but the answer is not sufficient. In the older versions of Visio, all you had to do was right-click and select the "set as default" option to set the default style for lines/connectors/shapes.
    Where is this option for Visio 2013? No, I do not want to have to edit my custom template just to set a default style for lines/connectors/shapes. SETTING A DEFAULT SHOULD BE A BASIC FUNCTION.
    Do I need to edit the themes? Because that option does not appear either. Do I need to create a custom theme? How does one do that?
    Why should this be so difficult? It was a simple click-select before.

    According to my research, I tried to find the option “set as default”.
    But I count find it both in Visio 2010 and Visio 2013.
    I find that right-click each shapes>Add to my shapes>favorites.
    So I think you can try to set default shapes to favorites.

    Now the mainstream software, including Office Flash Photoshop etc cancelled the option “set as default”.
    They want users to customize their common tools or style.

  • Paragraph styles all default to wrong character style

    So I set up a template and based all my character styles on my basic body copy. However, every new text box I create it defaults to the "character styles" to my section header color and sizing. I have to right click and "clear character styles" every single time. I've never had this happen before and cannot figure out how to fix it, it is such a PAIN!

    From your explanation, I suspect your use of Character Styles might need to be redirected to Paragraph Styles. But that is conjecture, so I apologize if I'm wrong. In any case, to solve your problem; with nothing selected, choose No Character Style in the Character Styles panel. That sets the default for new frames.

  • Setting styles

    Hello, I have created the VBox component below with a number of buttons in it, what I am trying to do is change the style of the pressed button to the style "mainButtonSelected" and ensure the previous selected button has it's style set to "mainButtonNotSelected", I can change the selected button style no problem but cannot find a way to change the previous button style, any ideas would be appreciated. As you can see I have added the click event to the enclosing vBox is this good practice?
    I also need to change the property of another label that is in another file but I am having troble referencing it in the actionscript function any help here would be appreciated also

    I always thought that Auto Sharpen had a fancy built in algorythm to analyize the photo and apply the appropriate type & amount of sharpening. Here's what the HELP function has to say about it:
    The Auto Sharpen command increases clarity or focus without the risk of oversharpening an image.
    Sounds good. HOWEVER, If I sharpen a photo using Enhance>Adjust Sharpness and then set the degree of sharpening that I desire, it somehow changes the settings of the auto sharpen tool. The auto sharpen tool defaults to using the same setting used by the manual sharpening. I found this to be true in both Version 6 & 7. Here's how I discovered it.
    I had a photo with a lot of motion blur. I used the manual sharpening tool (Enhance>Adjust Sharpness) and played with it a bit. There was too much motion to fix it to my satisfaction, so just for funzies, I set it to maximal values and hit OK. After closing the photo, I opened a new one, did some basic exposure & color adjustments and then used Auto Sharpen. To my suprise, it used the same maximal motion blur settings that I previously set for the last photo, which way oversharpened my photo.
    So this leves me wondering, what does Auto Sharpen do anyway? Does it just remember the last manual sharpening setting and apply it without any analysis of the photo?
    Any words of wisdom out there?

    HI...I got 4 aironet 1310，but i don't have password into Eanble mode!!
    I follow this document "Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Aironet Equipment.pdf" to recovery password.
    It succeed reset password to default，but it also reset Previous setting to defalut.
    Can I reset aironet 1310 password and keep Previous setting? Plz!!

  • How to change default media player setting in Mountain Lion

    I right click on the desired media player, then I click on "get info" and another pop up appears,
    but there is no "open with" selection!  See pic below:
    I open the application folder in the Finder window, I highlight the desired media player, I go to the top and

    you need to find the file you are trying to have open with a specific application.
    for example, I'm going to use an MP4 file titled cat_adventure video.
    here it is in finder
    I right click (secondary click) it in finder, and then hold down the option key on my keyboard.
    the Open With dialogue should change to "Always Open With" and then you choose your application from the pull out menu when you hover that.
    You can make it so all MP4 or whichever file you are using (AVI, MKV, etc) to open with a specific app by right clicking the file choosing get info
    The difference here is I'm not selecting the application but a file with the extension of the video format I always want to be opened with a specific application
    once in the get info menu I can then select to have the video always open with a certain app.
    1.click the open with accordion menu arrow if it is pointing to the left. it should be pointing down.
    2.select the application you want to always be associated with that file format
    3.select Change All to have that file format always be opened with that Application.
    Where this isn't working for you is because you are doing this to the Application itself. you don't do it like that. You need to find the type of file you are trying to open with itunes and then go through these steps.
    selecting the application (itunes) instead of the file (mp4, avi, mkv, flv) will not allow you to set what the file format lets you use to play your video.
    having said that, itunes is very limited in what it can and can't play. Mainly .mov and mp4's (apples proprietary extensions)

    If not you're into using file recovery software like  File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
    There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

    The Ps CS6 public beta version contains the same camera support as found in Ps CS5/5.5 compatible CR 6.6. There will be future updates to CR 7 for Ps CS6 to pick up more camera support. The Nikon D800 NEF files are not supported, yet.
    If you like to work with your D800 files in the public beta build now, you'll have to get the DNG Converter 6.7 from here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/

    Once you have successfully done that you can go ahead and choose Erase and Sync when you plug your iPod in.

    Hi, Vikas-
    After a brief bit of research, you're definitely hitting upon the limitation of the browsers.  Not all of the browsers have implemented this part of the HTML5 standard, so you're going to either have to use Flash or be limited to these specific browsers.
