Defective 3G? Genius says "no". You tell me.

Ok. Had the 3G for about 6 months now. Been to my local Apple Store 3 times. Guess I'll get right to it. Problems:

2: Phone gets "uncomfortably" warn, to the point I have to put it down to cool off when doing something as basic as browsing Gizmodo over 3G.
3: High-spot on the back case or a dent coming outward. Like something inside the phone is poking the inside of the back casing. Its inside of the "bite" of the Apple logo.
4: Battery will jump from being full to almost dead. I know the battery drains quickly when the phone locks up. But its happen 3 times to me now and the phone wasn't locked up.
5: Have to "hard reset" the phone at least once a day. Due to it locking up and/or lagging.
6: My accelerometer is waaaaaay off in landscape mode.
7: Minor light leak on the left side.

When I put the phone is sleep mode(pressing the sleep button) that dim screen that pops up when your phone is about to die with the battery icon with the plug and lighting bolt. That will pop up, When i hit the home button it goes away and my "slide to unlock" screen come up like normally and my battery is full.
But every time I go to the Genius Bar i get denied, i get the same old "its normal iterations", "when the last time you reformatted?", "you should probably format" shenanigans. I've formatted it 3 times. I know my phone is usable(under statement) and i love it, but i don't want it to crap out on me come my 1 year. Its been 2 months since my last visit and I'm fed up.
What should I do?

nope... every apple store experience has been painless for me... other than the first one (who knew you needed an appointment for a computer store ) i swapped my original 3g out 2 times before i returned it

been hearing about this one the last couple days in these forums... not sure but i suspect a restore and setup as NEW PHONE will work.

they are confusing the software issues with the physical defects... they should replace the phone speak with a manager.

    However, as my last post in this topic as you've not actually provided any real evidence of your problem if you don't mind me being frank, these small pockets of high speed test beds are just that - small pockets. There are some nations around the world with very high speed networks, mostly government sponsored etc. Please be aware that BT are not the only supplier of BB in the UK, there are others - e.g. Virgin Media - but they seem to only target profitable centres, and have no where near the coverage for their high speed stuff (up to 100Mbps I believe in some areas).

    About 5 days ago for no apparent reason at all, about
    7000 songs which i have collected over a number of
    years has just decided that it wont play in ITUNES or
    in any other of my media players. When you click on
    Play over a song nothing happens. The play icon
    doesnt even come up on the screen.
    Steps I have taken so far are:
    1 - Remove all tracks from ITUNES and then re-add the
    folder where all the songs are. This has obviously
    removed all songs, but when I have re-added the
    folder , it has added about 650 tracks back on to the
    playlist. These 650 tracks will play. This leaves
    approx 6400 tracks that it wont play.
    By the way all the songs on my PC are MP3 type and I
    have had no problem playing any of them until last
    week.
    2 - I have re-installed ITUNES and reinstalled
    Quicktime and that has not worked.
    3 - All of my songs are backed up on to a External
    Hard Drive. I have tried to restore the songs and
    also play them directly from the external hard drive.
    I get the same problem when I do this.
    4 - I have enabled and allowed all permissions for
    the account that I am running the PC from.
    I am guessing there must be some settnig or Registry
    Key that is blocking me playing the tracks from the
    PC. I have also tried to launch the songs in Media
    Player and Sonic stage but thsi has not played
    either.
    All the tracks are in the folder structure as they
    were before so I know they are there. I just need to
    somehow unlock them.......
    If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful as
    I dont want to lose my entire music collection.
    Also I cannot find anyweher on here that is a Support
    number or email address for Apple as this is an
    ITUNES issue and they should be resolving it for
    me!!!!

  • TS4108 I have an iphone 5 and an Ipad but DO NOT have an apple computer so if I back-up my iphone to icloud prior to going to a Genius Bar as they tell you to can I then reclaim my data from icloud if necessary.?

    I have an iphone and an ipad.  I DO NOT have an Apple Mac (I have a Dell laptop).  I have an appointment with a Genius Bar.  They tell you to back up your data to icloud before you come in.  If my data is lost will I be able to retrieve it without an Apple Mac????    Oh and how do I check what operating system I'm using???? Sorry I'm a novice regarding this.

    You can back up your device, either to iCloud or to your computer using iTunes, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766.  If you need to know what version of iOS you are using, go to Settings>General>About and read the number across from Version.

  • How can you tell if a file is being used in your project or not?

    How can you tell if a file in your bin is being used in your project or not? My director dragged hundreds of reference files into my project and only used a few of them. I'd like to do some house cleaning and delete the ones that are not in use. This project file has 100 sequences in it, so it would be a tough manual hunt to figure this out.
    In Premiere Pro (or Flash for example), where all the information is in the Project Bin such as in/out times and duration, there is where it tells you how many times that piece of media has been used or if it hasn't been used yet.
    Can FCP tell me this info?

    Monty,
    Within FCP, there is a menu item called "Media Manager" (depending on what version you are in). This would be worth your while to look into. It basically organizes your project by moving/archiving any used assets of a project and leaving out un-used assets. It saves a ton of disk space.
    For example, say you have a 5 minute clip with an in/out point that is just 30 seconds. Media Manager will "archive" just that 30 seconds, not the entire clip. There is even a setting that you can add additional "handles" time to the front andd back of the clip if you think you may need to add or change transition.
    Do a google search. I was just watching a few Youtube videos on this myself.

    All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc.  Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones.  I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
    It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch. 
    As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great.  And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen.  And cool colors!

    As the title says, how can you tell once installed.
    the reason i ask is where i live there is only the bt-pcp and the drl-fttc cabinet and no others.
    from what i heard is that both BT and DRL occupy the same fttc cabinet, and this would suggest so based on other information received.
    yet from other information i'm hearing is that they don't and we're probably wired all the way back to the exchange which i would have thought was a bit odd seeing with 3 miles from exchange (as the crow flies).
    so is it possible that they use the same cabs?

    yeh am on infinity now and so far working fine
    had one disconnection but thing that was caused by outage as took router a few attempts to re-connect, but other than that my pppoe has only dropped when made a change on router which required it to restart.
    now been connected for 8 days without dropping (usually dropped every weekend when on DR) so continuing to monitor.
    the engineer advised was connected via the cabinet in street, but only cabinets are the bt-pcp and the dr-fttc cabinets, and AFAIK BT and DR share the cabinet from what I've been previously told, but then someone else has said they won't do that and the connection is probably one that is underground if there is no bt-pcp.
    i'll send Dean a message just so i know for future as i know the bt-pcp cabinet my number is connected too.

I'm on Option 3, and this is the fair usage policy kicking in. This morning I had another email saying that I was over 100GB! So, I spent 1 hour on the phone today trying to find someone in BT who could tell me how the 20GB was racked up in a day. No chance! Nobody seems to have a record other than some sort of cumulative ticker. Yes I can download a broadband monitor (which I actually did after the first email), but if it's at odds with what BT says where are you then if they don't have detailed records? Records on the router are pretty useless although show since rebooted on Monday:

    This is the massive problem that BT fails continually to answer. The initial email only says that you have exceeded 80GB, it could actually be 99.5GB if the user had got say 20GB a previous day. This omission is appalling in my view and needs correcting immediately, as users are not given accurate figures. As can be seen by all the folk posting on this topic, the belief is that the user has possibly just surpassed 80GB.
    They have said that there are no daily figures, I challenge this to be completely incorrect and false, otherwise people would not have received emails on 2 consecutive days as the OP above.
    To the moderators, I ask again - please can you tell us how the data is added up on a per user basis. When is the system polled (it is *clearly* daily at least, otherwise you need to explain how these emails could have been sent).
    I've also said before that I believe an email should be sent when 50GB are reached, this should be very easy to implement.
    Just for info, a continuous download of 400KB/s (e.g. on a line in excess of 4Mbps) - will result in 20GB in about 14.5 hours.
