Defective Home Hub 5 - how to get a replacement

In addition to all my trouble with BT TV in combination with Infinity 3 FTTP (https://community.bt.com/t5/YouView-box/No-BT-TV-with-Infinity-3-4/td-p/1110464), I also received a faulty Home Hub 5. THe internet connection drops every few minutes and it is completely unusable. As soon as I connect my Home Hub 4 with the same cables, the connection is perfectly stable.
I contacted BT by e-mail and after several useless exchanges telling me that it could have external reasons or the wiring could be the problem (no it can't, as it is working with the HH4), I was asked to provide a time I am at home and reachable, so that someone can call me and check the HH5 connection. This Saturday morning I got a call and was told that they cannot help me as I have FTTP (what a surprise, it is visible in my account and I mentioned having Infinity 3) and they have to transfer me to the Fiber team. The forwarded call got lost after no one picked up and I received this e-mail:
"As per the conversation we had over the phone I have transferred your call to the FTTP desk, as we are from the copper line desk we cannot proceed further to deal this issue. You can also try reaching them at 0800 800 151 (12pm to 8pm Mon - Fri). Please do write back to us for further queries." I.e. I got forwarded to a team that was not even available today.
So to summarise:
- It is completely obvious that my Home Hub 5 (I paid £50 for) is faulty and just needs to be replaced
- Instead BT is wasting my time again and again giving me completely random reasons why it might not work
- While I mentioned it multiple times and it has to be visible in my account, I apparently was contacted by the wrong team for days
- While BT offers Infinity 3/4 FTTP they don't seem to have any idea how to support / handle it. They cannot give me BT TV, they cannot even give me any kind of support with a faulty router
It is just absolutely incredible ...

Doesn't help you but why did you buy a HH5 if your HH4 was working OK?
Try a factory reset of the homehub by pressing a pin
into the recess button on the rear for about 20 seconds.
lf that doen't help recontact BT sales where I presume you got the HH5 from and inform them its faulty and you want it replaced or your money back.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Wirelessly Connected to Home Hub 3, Cannot Get Int...

Hello,
BT Infinity installed on 6th June Home Hub 3 (type B). Previously on BT Broadband.
One laptop computer connects to the hub but will not connect to the Internet wirelessly (connects wired). Running Windows 7. Cannot surf, Skype.
Have been on to tech support (for hours!) they tried all the usual (change channel, update drivers, took control of laptop remotely, everything possible done).
Still not working, although did get a very brief sporadic connection.
Computer in question (Samsung Netbook, "n" connection) worked perfectly on old BT Broadband, works out of the house on wifi connections.
Has anyone had this problem? Are there any solutions?

Hi guys you most likely have this solved already but just incase I have recently encountered the same problem with my 'netbook'
I have tried everything from installing new drivers to creating a 'disable' registry key for IPV6 .. The way I solved this and hope it works for you was...
Go to you your sharing point and open wireless network connection.
Click properties
In the dialogue box uncheck 'internet protocol version 6 (tcp/ipv6)
Then above it click 'configure'
Another dialogue box will open informing you that you have made changes.
Click 'yes'
This will open up in my case 'RealTek' driver.
Click on 'advanced' tab
'Wireless mode'
Go to right hand side of dialogue box and select 'value' drop down box
Select 'IEEE 802.11b/g'
These deselects the 'n' router aspect as I believe our network adapters can't function with this.
Now click 'ok'
Let computer re-connect to router.
Now try opening web pages.
Problem solved (",)

N8 Home screen - how to get multiple buttons in a ...

Nokia N8 home screen comes with two rows having 4 widgets / items each.
I deleted the second row by mistake (which included Phone set up, messaging etc)
I can't get it back now. When I try, I can only get one widget in a complete field (instead of 4).
Can someone help me, how to get this row back?

Options>Edit Content>tap screenand select add content>select Shortcut 1/2 . Once shortcut widget is added, tap and select settings and simply add the shortcuts you want in thet widget then select exit and then Done on the main screen.

I have a MBP with service center for last 21 days. The issue is device doesn't boot up. They are replacing part by part logic board, hard disk, wires and still they need more time. No confidence over there service wing. How to get MBP replacement?

1. August 12: They reinstalled OS. Took it back on 13th evening
2. August 14: They did some hardware check and reinstalled OS. Took it back on 20th evening

I have a query in which the user enters a value for the 0fiscper variable. Our users want to display for the last 12 months the previous year same period sales.
I do this by putting a value range offset restriction on 0fiscper varianle to -12 to 0fscper variable value. I have 0fiscper as drill down on the rows.

To get the LY Month Sales I would like to set up a replacement path variable on 0fiscper so if the value of 0fiscper on the
row is available in the replacement path var I can offset it ti -12 to get the LY Month Sales.
Can someone share ideas how I can set up this replacement path variable.

New S10 - screen problem - how to get it replaced - please advice

My Lenovo S10-3 works perfectly well, except for the blotches/spill pattern on the inside of the screen which resembled fungal-growth like pattern. When I took it to the Lenovo Service Center in Chennai, India, they said it is water damaged (which is not true) and I have to pay Rs. 9000 ($200) for the replacement.
This laptop was bought in US on 28 August'10 and gifted to me in India on 15 Sept'10 (and is clearly past the 30 day replacement guarantee by tigerdirect). Now, my cousin returns next week to US even he's not sure whether the warranty covers it.
1. Can anyone advice on this issue? How can I prove that it is not spill damaged (it is perfectly dry and working well)?
2. Will Lenovo replace it for me or do I have to pay for it eventhough it is clearly not my fault.
3. Should I send it back to US for a replacement or can I get it done in India itself?
The laptop is clearly working well except for the blotches on the screen. This is my second lenovo (my previous one was 3000 n200 0769bqg - which is wonderful and never made me call the customer service) and I am clearly not happy with the way things have turned out with my new lenovo s10-3.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-522 Model no. PSAA2E-01C01EED and one of my shift keys
has broken down under, so i cant use it (The small plastic bar to balance the key is broken
so the key "hangs". I can send it to repair under the guarentee, and ive talked to the
seller, but i dont have the time to send it for repairs (no replacement laptop meanwhile).
Is it possible to get a new key, and replace it myself? I know some other notebook producers do the same thing,

Well, its very easy to replace the keycaps.

But if the whole key has broken you will need to replace the whole keyboard.
To remove the keyboard you have to remove the think plastic cover above the F keys.
Under this cover you will find 2 crews securing the keyboard
Remove the two screws and detach the flat keyboard cable which is connected to the motherboard.

2 airport expresses and clear hub--how to get network back?

I just got clear internet because centurylink more than doubled my rate.
I had the centurylink modem/router set in bridge mode... I need to know how to do this and how I can get my wifi network and printer through my two airport expresses again, but clear won't help me--I've just had 3 frustrating chat sessions (in one of which, they did not know their own equipment and didn't know there are two ethernet connections on the modem). They told me they won't help, and I have to go to apple but my expresses/computer are no longer under warantee (though my phone is).
Any ideas about what to do? I can't afford an expensive tech support call.

Neither. Both of those features are used when you are wirelessly extending a network. Since the AirPort Express (AX) will be connecting via Ethernet, you do not use those.
All you need to do is configure the AX to create a wireless network and act as a bridge (not sharing a single IP address). If you use the same SSID (network name) and wireless encryption type/level/password as the Time Capsule, your devices will seamlessly roam between the two base stations. It will appear as one wireless network.

Home Sharing - how to get music files to transfer from one computer to another...

I have two computers in my home authorised for Home Sharing - I have no problems locating the other library on either of my computers. However, when I am on iTunes in Computer A and I click onto Computer B's music library (so that I can transfer music file to Computer A) I am unable to move Computer B's music into Computer A. I have both iTunes open on each computer and ther are both using the same Wifi connection.
In iTunes Help, it says:
     - select the music files that I want to share into Computer A. (this bit I can do).
     - in the 'show' menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, select 'items not in my library'. This is where I run into trouble - there does not appear to be any such menu!
     - select items I wish to import, then click on 'import'. - again, no such button appears to exist!
I have updated my iTunes software to the latest version available on both computers. This is very frustrating for something that should be quite simple - I would very much appreciate any suggestions or solutions...
