Defective iPhone 5 replacement with a refurbished model???

iPhone 5 replacement? I had a defective iPhone 5. Brought from apple online. Took back to apple retail. Got given a refurbished model. Why won't try give me a new one as I've only used it for 3 weeks. I don't like I have a refurbished model and I like to keep the original box so that when I go to sell the iPhone next year, it'll hold it's value better with the serial number matches up.

I hate it too.  That is how Apple works.  Sorry.

  • Since I had my iPhone 4 replaced with a refurbished model, does that extended my one year warranty?

I bought an iPhone 4 last June and got it in July, but I had it replaced with a refurbished model a few months ago. Because of this, is the included one year warranty that I originally had extended by a period of time because I had this phone replaced?

You get 90 days on the service replacement or you original warranty, whichever is longer, which I this case is the one on the replacement. So you are good for 90 more days.

  • New phone replaced with a refurbished phone

My defective droid, purchased in January, was replaced by a refurbished phone.  Customer Support refuses to replace my phone with a new one.  They told me if I wanted a new phone that I would be charged.  Has anyone had the same experience?  Is there a legal recourse?

Verizon Wireless....BUYER BEWARE!!!!  I got a new Samsung 3 - I paid $199 for it and signed a new 2 year contract. Some minor issues from the get go but nothing big until now......I've only had it for apx 4 months....It started blacking out on me.... reverting back to manufacture settings....google calendar was not working properly. I took it to the verizon store - was there for 1.5 hours while a manager and then a tech looked it over. Neither could figure out why/what was wrong. They did a few things told me to come back if it still happened. Than it happened even more and programs crashed. I went back to the store - they said they'd send me a new phone.....They did indeed a "LIKE NEW - REFURBISHED" phone. I even have the month to month insurance. We spoke with 2 people at verizon and they refused to give me a new phone. So I'm stuck with a refurbished phone - out $199 - and they got me for another 2 year contract. I was NEVER told that a replacement was going to be a refurbished one. Not Good Business.....Seriously thinking about taking my business elsewhere....Been a long time customer and get treated like this. Sooooo Wrong! Shame on Verizon Wireless!

  • Old iPhone Replaced with 3G?

I have been having some problems with my old iPhone (first gen) and want to get it replaced. Does anyone know if Apple will replace this old iPhone with the new, 3G iPhone, or just a new first gen iPhone? I had heard that Apple has run out of the first gen iPhones...

They will replace it with a refurbished first generation iPhone.

  • Replace a defective iphone 5 with a 5s?

My iPhone 5 hasn't been working for a week now. I brought it to my apple store and they say there might be a battery problem or a hardware problem but they can't do anything about it since it's still under warranty and they say I should bring it back to the store where I brought it from as I might get a new one replaced. I can't do that now since I'm away for summer. But I was wondering if it's possible to replace it with a 5S if I'm willing to pay a little extra? Thanks.

    no

  • Uses for old iPhone when it has been replaced with a new model

Wondering what, if anything, I can do with my first generation iPhone now that I've upgraded to the 3GS. Can I still use the old phone sort of like I would an iPod Touch? Can I synch my music and/or photos with both iPhones - with the same Mac computer? If so, do I need to (or should I) remove the SIM card in the older iPhone? If it is an issue, I have 3 Mac computers in the house, so I could synch the iPhones with different Macs... Any ideas?

Asked and answered everyday, several times today. Yes. Leave the SIM in it.

You can sync as many devices as you like to one machine.

  • When a printer is replaced with a refurbished unit, must the original printer be returned?

I received a refurbished LJ Pro M1217nfw Printer to replace the same original printer whose LCD screen became defective within the warranty period.  The documentation which came with the refurb unit, entitled, "Hewlett-Packard Upgrade Program,"  provides instructions for returning the original product to HP via UPS, but also says, "You may choose to retain your original product" and that there is no additional charge for either returning or keeping the product.  The refurb unit was not an "upgrade" but a replacement at HP's expense.  I'm confused.  What's the policy?

  • Unlocked iphone replaced with a locked one

Last year in October I bought an unlocked iphone 5s in Thailand, I live in Croatia and  had some issues with the screen and yesterday apple gave me a new replacement iphone, and the replacement iphone is locked. Been talking with Apple support yesterday for over an hour, and they suspect its locked to US AT&T (but not 100 % sure if its AT&T), they can see the store info where I bought it in Thailand but they say they can't do anything to unlock it, so they gave me phone number of AT&T and said they would unlock it wihout problem.
Anyway then I started talking to AT&T support then and been talking to a couple of managers  for over 2 hours, they just keep passing me to another higher level person and in the end they said they couldn't  do anything, their best suggestion was that I go from Croatia to the store in Thailand where I bought to iphone so they unlock it.
I did a online check of my Iphone over IME numberI and this is the info I got:
    Model: SVC,IPHONE 5S,GSM,16GB,GRAY,CI/AR
    MAC: 78FD94CB1455
    ICCID:
    iOS Version: 8.0.2
    Unbricked: false
    Unlocked: false
    Activation Status: No
    First Unbricked Date:
    Last Unbricked Date:
Initial Activation Policy: 52 - US GSM Service Policy
    Applied Activation Policy: -
Next Tether Policy (Carrier): 52 - US GSM Service Policy
    Status: Locked
Please help,  what should I do?

Whatever you do, do not use the factory unlocks, because then you will never be able to use your phone - this amounts to hacking your phone, which will void any warranty cover and perhaps brick your phone for good.
Anyway, what you need to do is go back to the Apple reseller who gave you the replacement phone in the first place and tell them that you had an unlocked phone and that the replacement they gave you is locked to AT&T and you need to demand that you give you another replacement phone that is unlocked.
If you went to the Apple re-seller for help in the  first place and they were the ones who gave you the replacement phone, then it is their responsibility to give you another unlocked phone and not one that is locked to a network.  They need to replace like with like, so if you went through them, then it is their responsibility and not Apple or AT&T.  There is nothing AT&T can do for you to unlock the phone, as you never had a contract with them in the first place and Apple do not unlock phones anyway - only the carriers, so your first port of call must be the re-seller.
However, if you purchased the phone in Thailand you have no warranty cover for Croatia - iPhone warranty is not international, so to get a proper exchange and warranty cover, you will really need to go back to the Apple store in Thailand where you purchased the phone to get a proper unlocked replacement and this iw what you should have done in the first place.
iPhone warranty is not international so the Apple re-seller in Croatia need not have helped you in the first place, which is probably why you got a locked phone as a replacement, but your first port of call is them, as you dealt with them in the first instance.
They gave you a locked phone as a replacement, so ultimately, they need to replace that locked phone with an unlocked phone as you had.

  • 1st gen 16gb iPhone replaced with 3g?

My speakerphone quit working today on my 1st gen 16gb iphone. It is still well within warranty and will most likely get replaced when I go to my appointment at the genius bar tomorrow. I was wondering if they replace it with a 16gb 3g or another 1st gen iphone.
    Thanks

You will receive another 16 gb original iPhone rather than the newer 3G iPhone.

  • Can I swap out defected iPhone with different color one

In november my friend purchased me a black iphone 5.  It was awesome with No problems.  Recently however, I have been experiencing a very short battery life.  After a day of light usage sometimes my battery will dip below 5 percent.  Now, I already tried disableing bluetooth, turning off data and wifi when not being used, and even turned down the brightness to half way.  Because the iphone is certainly defected, when I exchange the iphone is there a possibility to swap it out with one of a different color, as the black one devolops scratches along the champhered edge like crazy, also ios 7 looks wayyyyyy better with the white iphone, it just blends into the device itself.  Anyways, thanks for any responses

No. Apple will replace your iPhone only with an indentical model. If you want your iPhone to be a different color, consider a skin; those are available in a multitude of colors and patterns.
And just FYI, there are many causes of short battery life other than a hardware defect. Apps such as the Facebook app can use a lot of battery. While you may indeed have a failing battery, you may want to try restoring your iPhone to factory settings and running with just the Apple apps for a while and then evaluate your battery life before concluding that there's a hardware problem.
    Regards.

  • Worth it to trade with a refurbished iPhone 4?

I bought the iPhone 4 three weeks ago. I loved it!
Never had any problems with it till last Thursday when I was convinced
by an apple employee to upgrade my software.
Long story short. Came back Friday. Problem got worse.
Came back Monday and I was told by an Apple employee that
    I can get a refurbished iPhone 4. I'm skeptical because honestly I don't
want the same awful battery drainage if it has the upgrade 5.1 or not.
The guy told me he can't tell till he activates it.
I'm very very distraught with this situation and I really don't know what to do.
Is replacing my iPhone 4 with a refurbished one really worth it?

Go to www.itunes.com.  You will be re-directed to the iTunes page for your country.  Click the  Download iTunes button in the top right hand side of the screen.  It should recognize that you are running a 64Bit version of Windows 8 (Not sure if there is a 32 bit version or not) but Apple should see that you are running 64bit software.  Download the installer and reinstall iTunes.
Then back your phone up to iTunes. And then restore your new phone from the old backup using the Phone name you used on the old phone.

    You CANNOT get a refund.'
You can ONLY get it replaced with the same model, and only if Apple determines that it is defective.
