Defective Note 4

I purchased 2 Note 4's from Bestbuy on 10/26/2012 but was unable to use them for 2 weeks as I went on a 2 week vacation starting on 10/27/2014. When I got back on 11/12 I began setting them up and noticed that the black Note 4 worked perfectly but my white Note 4 has back button issues as it takes multiple hard pressed to recognize my touch. It has been confirmed through a Google search that a few Note 4's have this issue so even though I am past the 14 day Bestbuy return window can I get a replacement since I am not returning but rather getting a replacement due to a defective product. I spoke to a Samsung rep and they told me I have 30 days to get a replacement where I purchased it. Is this true?

    again...the W520 BIOS seems to have a bug. I've tested it via several Notebooks and PC's and it's the ONLY one NOT starting. I'm using a GPT-partitioned Harddrive WITHOUT UEFI (which is absoluetly legal). The BIOS seems to check the boot flags and wont go furher after boot-select screen showing all present connected drivers. Other drivers (not GPT-partitioned) work fine on W520.     The same DVD can be read on my frnds laptop. 
    Corresponding drivers r up to date.. I even tried uninstall and then restart and then let my laptop install the required driver automatically. I've tried everything I could find on some forums.
    I was told to delete " Upper & Lower filters ". I didnt find Lower filter so I had to delete only "Upper Filter".

    The upper and lower filter thing only applies if the drive is not showing up at all in the Device Manager. If it appears as a drive and will perform any function at all, then it is likely a hardware issue. One way you can be sure is to try to boot from a bootable DVD such as a Windows 7 install Disk. If the computer will not boot from such a disk then it is apparent the hardware is defective, not the Windows software because the problem exists even before Windows loads.
    The drive has multiple lasers and it is possible for one to go out but not the others.  The drive is easily replaced. See below:

  • Kin 1 microphone not working

    I can hear people fine, but people can not hear me.
    My bluetooth is off, wireless off, mute is not on, i took out the battery multiple times it still doesnt work.
    at first it was crinkles/static noises, but still useable. Then people could not hear me at all. I have noticed lately, if i blow on the mic for about 10-30 seconds people can hear me again, but it would still be very static/crinkle noises.

    Looks as though you've tried a number of troubleshooting steps, and haven't yet found a fix.  I would be happy to help.  I wouldn't suggest resetting the device being that it appears to be a mechanical defect, not software related.  Please reply to my direct message with the requested information so I can further assist.

    I recently went into a Verizon store to try to upgrade my phones. I am on a Family Plan. When I renewed my contract 2 years ago, one of the phones received was defective. After going back to the store several times, it still did not work properly. I asked for a replacement. I was sent a refurbished phone, which I did not want and complained. I sent it back and was finally sent a new phone. Now it's time to upgrade. The catch is that the date I can upgrade on 1 phone was set back 2 months-- the time it took to resolve the problem with the defective phone.     1st of all, by activating the "new" phone, you are agreeing to the ToS and "giving your ok".
    Next, when you renewed 2 yrs ago, you signed a contract in which you had 30 days to return the phone in exchange for a "new" one. After this 30 day period, you "agreed" to refurbished replacements by signing the original contract and activating your original phone, thus agreeing to the ToS. YOU were not willing to adhere to the contract and ToS which you had previously agreed to, but you now want Verizon to follow those terms that you have already backed out on?

  • Defect #368646: Defect manipulating Distribution Lists

    As stated in the Admin API Object Defect, there is a probleme using
    Distribution List with members beloging to another domain than the one
    you are connected to.
    This problem occurs ALWAYS for me and not only in certain cases.
    Does anyone knows if Novell is aware of this problem, and will take any
    action to support the method .users.Item ??
    I don t see any other solution to manipulate distribution list correctly?

    get a user in a secondary domain and report the name of that domain, in
    the following way -

    addition, your Admin API application now thinks that any user in
    the secondary domain now belongs to the primary domain. Defect

    Thanks for the answer but it s not possible as the GroupWise system is
    spanning over many eDir trees.
    I have used the UserIterator to access the User object I need, despite it
    is far longer than the Users.Item method, it works
    But as soon as I iterate in the User Collection, I found what is shown as
    duplicate users (may be unreadable object and the API is returning the
    previous user red) and after 3700 users .. my program hangs the
    gwcmb1.dll.
    Do you know if the API has some defects not reported in the defect list ?
    Does Novell support this API ? I had a look for SOAP but there is nothing
    to manage the GW objects, does Novell have a Admin SOAP ? or is planning
    to have one ?

    If you have tried the usual (reset/restart/restore...tried the restore without using a backup to restore from if doing it from a backup did not help) then you should still be under warranty for at minimum another month (if you got your iPhone 4 when it first came to VZW in February 2011). Contact VZW or Apple for assistance. If the problem is due to a defect not caused by something that would void the warranty then it will be replaced under warranty. If you have insurance from VZW that covers accidental damages not covered under warranty then you can use that option if the issue is declared to be due to non-warranty covered problems. When you say your sounds aren't working at all I assume you mean you not only can't hear the email/text alerst, but you also aren't able to hear when a call comes in ringtone sound not playing). Is that the case?

    The disk you are using probably has a defect, not uncommon on consumer grade disks. Try another disk or better yet another disk from a different manufacturer or at least a different batch.

    The mouse I can't help, but if the trackpad won't physically click when pressed, it means some debris got stuck between the trackpad itself and the surrounding aluminum case. There is a minuscule gap all around and if a crumb, a large speck of dirt, etc., got lodged in there, will prevent it from returning to its unpressed "up" state.
    Take a strong lamp and carefully examine it. If it is the case, a blast or two from one of those "compressed air" duster cans may do the trick of dislodging the contaminant and restoring functionality. Try pressing down firmly while blowing.
    Or take it back to the Store and hope the Geniuses aren't too cranky and don't brush you off with a "cosmetic or user induced defect, not covered" lame excuse.

  • Mid-2012 MBP lagging with constant colour wheeling at everything. How do I fix it to run quickly/smoothly again?

    I only just got my Mid-2012 13-inch MBP last November, switching over after a long time with PCs. I wasn't expecting any problems with my MBP, as everyone else I know who has one hasn't had any issues. I love it but a couple of days ago, it's become relatively slower than its usual pace. I'm not quite sure what's going on, but as it's still relatively new, it shouldn't be lagging every five seconds with opening an application or switching tabs or typing in Word. I don't do much with my MBP except for surfing the web (Facebooking, etc.), doing homework, and YouTubing. Gifs won't even load properly at the moment. it's becoming frustrating because it's the same problems I faced with PCs that I wasn't expecting from Macs. The colour wheel of doom keeps spinning on my screen and I just want to be able to do whatever to make it all run smoothly and quickly again as it was. (In typing this message alone, the colour wheel popped up and everything lagged considerably for a good minute or so quite a few times.)
    Here's some of the info/specs I got from the About My Mac:
    Processor  2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
    I also have 395.89 GB free out of 499.25 GB, and I've also referred to the Activity Monitor with nothing in particular that really uses a lot of CPU or anything like that. I'm also not sure whether or not to do that Disk Utility thing to repair permissions or whatever it is or if I need to test anything in safe mode.

    Your machine comes with a boot hard drive, which is subjective to shock if the computer is moved while the computer is turned on. This has a effect of damaging data on the platters where information can't be easily read or sometimes not at all.
    The spinning wheel is indicative of the software waiting for something from the hardware or network, but your using programs that have no use online, so it suggests something is wrong with your boot hard drive.
    If the hard drive has difficulty reading data, there is a mechanism in place to try to read the damaged sectors and move the information to another sectors on the drive, since this takes time you get the spinning beach ball waiting.
    Another possiblity is you might have installed some sort of very restrictive third party anti-virus that has a background check process on everything your doing. For Mac's this is unnecessary as Apple has included their own and the free ClamXav is all you need to run once in awhile to clean/flag Windows files  which their malware doesn't affect a Mac.
    Use the developers uninstaller to remove it and reboot.

    Given your age and that you had this problem with PC's, I suspect your very harsh on your machines or haven't been educated about how fragile they are and can't be moved while operating.
    To solve your issue my suggestion is to first make a backup of just your users data to a external drive, also to another drive using TimeMachine which will make a copy of your entire system.
    So this way you have at least two copies of your data off the machine, the TimeMachine might fail to restore if it backs up corrupted data. Thus the extra copy of your personal files on another storage drive once the fresh opertaing system and programs are reinstalled.
    Most commonly used backup methods
    Next take the machine to the Apple Store and tell them your seeing beachballs on everything your doing. They will replace the hard drive under warranty, ask if you made a backup or not and of course tell them you did with TimeMachine but don't think it's going to reliable because of the issues on the boot drive, tell them  you have a extra copy of your files on a another storage drive.
    Ask them to help you reinstall OS X and Apple programs for you if they can, then all you have to do when you get home is to copy your files from the storage drive. This would ensure any corruption of OS X or programs is eliminated.
    I would buy AppleCare if you haven't done so already, but just remember, warranty/AppleCare only covers factory defects, not user inflicted damage.
    However there is some times where hard drives will fail on their own accord in a few months after purchase, which might be the problem in your case as there is a sudden motion detector and it's supposed to freeze the hard drive to prevent damage to the platters.
