Defective shuffle (big surprise) getting a new one
i HAD the 1yr warrantee for my shuffle, towards the end of the term, it went haywire as I'm sure EVERY shuffly owner has experienced (flashing lights, just doesn't work anymore). I sent it in and got a new one free of charge. NOW my second one has gone to crap, but my warrantee is up. I called apple and I couldn't get ANY answers from them at all, just "did you try troubleshooting?"
If I send in my second defective shuffle (the one they sent as a replacement) will I be charged the 80 or however many dollars for the repairs? This IS a DEFECTIVE product that they sold to me (originally, then sent another to replace it) so I have every right to a replacement.
Does anyone know cause it just says the IF the product's condition is not covered under warranty (i don't have it anymore anyway) that it's an $80 (i think) repair cost. So... am I just screwed here?
You can't buy the apple care plan if your warranty is up either can you?

Enter you replacment Shuffle's serno into the block on the iPod Shuffle Support Page; you'll get a display telling you whether or not it is covered, whether or not you can still get AppleCare for it, etc.
Sorry, but I haven't shared your experience with the Shuffle; my original one's still going strong in month 15, the 'broken' one I bought off eBay turned out to be and still is perfectly okay, and we just don't hear much from the several million Shuffle owners who aren't having any problems at all.
All we know for sure is that you've managed to break two of them now. If you manage to get a third one, and it also turns out to be "defective", you should seriously consider one of two things: Either buy lots of lotto tickets or don't, under any circumstances, go outside in thunderstorms.

Frankly just about any headset with the proper size connection will likely work. We like ear buds with soft coverings so even when we get a hard headset with a player we swap them out. While Apple might just possibly give you a set for free since they are not an expensive item, loss is not covered by warranty. If you're a long drive from an Apple Store it might cost you more in fuel and vehicle wear and tear than going to a local store and buying a comfortable replacement.

AIf the iPod broke because of a defect then yes, Apple will replace the iPod if it is within the warranty period. A broken/cracked screen is not covered. However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store they will exchange your iPod at no cost if it has a broken/cracked screen.

Full price. Warranty covers only manufacturing defects, not you losing the iPod.
Perhaps homeowners insurance of your credit card plan, if you used a credit card to purchase the original iPod, might cover all or part of the cost.

Apple care does not cover theft. It covers manufacturing defects for warranty. You need to contact the police and report it to them. Only insurance would replace a phone, and usually with a deductible. There is no free phone in your future.

If it's under warranty and they determine it's a defect and not caused by abuse, yes. If it's out of warranty or was physically damaged, then no. You'll need to pay for an out of warranty replacement.

If all of these fail, then make an apointment at the genius bar. If your iphone is defective and is within the warranty period, then they will replace. -

"If your ipod is still under warranty and it is defective and not damaged, then they will replace it with a service unit, likely a refurbished ipod."

As long as they are already ticked in your iTunes then yes. Just to check do a sync and as long as everything stays the same you are good to go.

Can't get my Music off of my iPhone 4...

Help...The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer. -

Are you confident (in that case) that you can do the repair yourself? Perhaps you should let a professional select a screen and install it for you.

What kind of iPod are you getting to replace it? If it is an iPod Touch, and you are in the US, after you set up the Touch you can use the iCloud beta and download your previous music, books and app purchases directly to your Touch.
