Defender and Windows 8.1: Possible virus, hardware issue or both

Hi:
I currently use IE11. I noticed some bizarre behavior coming from the browser where it flashes, or when sending an email using my Hotmail account, the signature line erases itself while I type new text (several lines above it), etc . Clearly
someone has hacked me. I'm experiencing these problems using different WiFi providers in different locations.
Defender Quick Scans seem to vary in the size of the content in which it scans. For example: sometimes it Quick Scans 11,000+/- items while another time it scans 14,000+/- items. It's bizarre. I went through the
Heartbleed bug - that may not be complete. I also was recently infected with a weird
axp.net bug.
I also run full scans after running quick scans. But that doesn't seem to fix the problem.
I also checked the event logs. One thing I'm not clear about is whether or not this is a problem: "Found 1 updates and 4 categories in search; evaluated appl. rules of 61 out of 90 deployed entities".
I suspect Defender may not be updating appropriately. Also windows itself may not be updating. The following image was taken today of an update that should have been installed 6 days ago.
Any suggestions?

DataGuard setup between Windows XP Pro and Windows 2003 Server - possible?

Oracle 9.2. The documentation says "The hardware and operating system architecture on the primary and standby locations must be the same". I understand that this is recommended setup and it will be much better if it will be setup on EXACTLY same hardware and OS. My questions is - Is it possible to set it up between XP Pro and 2003 Server? Had anyone done it successfully the past?

between XP Pro and 2003 ServerBoth are Win* releases, both are 32bit. So I can't see why it would not work. But I think that certified combination requies that both computers use same O.S. release (XP pro xor 2k3 server).

Sync PC Suite and Windows Live Mail - Possible?

I had Microsoft Microsoft Outlook and Nokia PC Suite in Sync.
But I've changed my Laptop and now I have Windows Live Mail and Outlook
Express
I'm using only the Windows Live Mail, that has a calendar also.
When I install Nokia PC Suite, it says that it syncs with Outlook
Express and Outlook.

Apparently Nokia is not listening to their customers and instead diverts them to a damn Nielsen forum to write down all their frustration and needs again and again.
Why is it so complicated to provide an easy syncing tool between Windows Live Mail calendar and the N8 and C7 or E52 phones i.e. their built-in calendars (e.g..). Yes Nokia, I have bought all three phones within a time span of 5 months and have NOW FINALLY DECIDED to end my Nokia-sympathy due to lack of listening support. It comes as a joke that the internet is full of grief towards this standard problem and that none seems capable to do something. Apparently none wants to do anything as the whole situation looks like a "friendly agreement" between Nokia and Microsoft. They call it Marketing, I call it short-term-wannabe-software- regulation-policy as an aim to support, e.g. Outlook!!!
Goodbye Nokia. I'll turn to Apple! Please excuse my frustration

Satellite Pro A200 and Windows XP 64bit possible?

I'm the owner of that notebook & i'm wondering if it's compatible with Windows XP 64 bit.
I work with 3dsmax which don't work on Vista (32 or 64 bit).

Toshiba does not offer 64bit drivers for Windows XP.
So you must search on external websites for drivers but I could be that you dont get all drivers. To be honest if you dont use 4GB RAM or more in this laptop Windows XP is the best choice.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy LS "WINDOWS CANNOT DETECT A SOUNDBLASTER HARDWARE" Issue!!!

Hi all to cut the long story short I have had my audigy Ls card for a little over an year now, everything worked fine until I have decided to reformat my computer due to regular maintenance and this was roughlly 2 month ago, anyway I have explored all the different avenues and have found my self stranded to this point. 

Basically I have the drivers (from creative official driver downloading page) for the sound card installed and its running fine however not flawless due to the fact that my original CD that came bundled with the card cannot be installed anymore, ever since I have reformatted my PC. windows just couldn't detect my exisiting AUDIGY LS card and keeps error out when the installation starts and states that windows can not detect a sound blaster card in your system etc etc. 

Now I know for a fact that everything worked fine with the drivers installed correctly without any issue prior to my format. is there any any any any!!! way to actually overcome this nuisance ? Im getting really pissed of as I no longer could enjoy the full benefit of my sound blaster 

e.g creative media centre, sound equilizer, 6/24bit adjustment. 
I have switched the card in other PCI slot, it's no use and I have tried and obviously failed to do everything I could to solve this problem. the onboard sound has been disabled.AC97 and I really couldn't figure out why...strange ...

I have searched the forum for valuable infomation as I seen a couple of people are suffering the EXACT same issue as I'am.

I am pretty much in the same boat but with an Audigy 2 Value Sound Card.
Removed some old piece of rubbish card (6MB Aztech PCI 288 Q3D using a Trident 4DWave-NX Chip.... yes about 6 yrs old !) in my daughters pc and replaced it with the new one.
Same error message i.e. hardware not detected... ihave already posted as im trying to find and install the right drivers. I have also tried the PCI-slot hopping etc etc.
So what next people ?

Could you confirm that there is still memory address space limitations due to the 32-bit SAP kernel?
It is the SAP Kernel that determines the addressable operating system limit for R/3 extended memory under Windows NT?
Do I still need to set the 3GB option on the system to allocate more than 2.5GB of SAP buffers and extended memory space?
I have taken a look at SAP Notes 110172 and 129813, but I just need clarification?

On a 64bit OS it is a bit different, effectively you can use 4 GB per workprocess.

Software Issue, Hardware Issue, or both?

I have a NB205-N311/W which I purchased in December 2009. It's worked perfectly, if a little slow at times, since then. However, in the past week, I've been opening up internet windows and having it immediately become unresponsive. Sometimes, it recovers and sometimes I need to close the window to solve the problem. I've tried not running too many programs at once and that seems to help but it does not solve the problem. My computer has also gotten a black screen twice in the last week. When it happens, I restart it and everything works normally (albiet slowly and sometimes freezing, like I've described). What I'm wondering is if this is a software problem or a hardware problem. Sometimes when it freezes, a message pops up that says "Skype Toolbars is not working. Stop this function now?" and "Shockwave Plug in is not working. Stop this function now? " or something similar.
Any help would be appreciated, particularly since I live abroad and cannot deal with this issue by phone.

Everything you report is consistent with a SOFTWARE issue relating to the latest release of the Chrome browser (version 19). Especially since you report that the problems began shortly after the latest version was released.
I'm pretty sure that the "error reports" you are seeing are generated by Chrome. It is basically saying: "Oooops... I've crashed. Let me report this crash back to the Mother Ship (Google) so that they can look into the problem, and possibly fix it."
Most likely you installed a plugin in an earlier release of Chrome, but that version of the plugin is no longer compatible with the latest release of Chrome. So chances are good that all you need to do is check and update your Chrome plugins. Since you report crashes in Skype Toolbar and Shockwave, it would be prudent to check those two plugins in particular. But you really should update them all.
Unfortunately, I don't use Chrome often enough to give you detailed instructions. Check the help feature within Chrome itself, or the help pages of the Google Chrome website.
That said, you could have a hardware problem, too. So fix the Chrome plugin problem first, then see whether there are still unresolved issues.
RAM and disk are two entirely different things. RAM is the working memory of the computer. Based on your report, it looks like you have enough RAM to run the programs you typically use.
You don't report either the capacity of your internal disk nor how full your internal disk is. So it's hard to advise you on that. However unless you have less than 10% free space on your internal disk, that shouldn't be a problem, either. So moving files off your internal disk onto an external disk probably won't help much, if at all.
HOWEVER, if you are NOT routinely backing up your pictures and files to an external device of some kind, then you really should start right away, because otherwise you are at GREAT RISK of losing everything if your internal disk crashes. This advice is especially relevant to you, because you have an older disk that is likely to be nearing the end of its useful service life, AND you have some reason to suspect that your machine may not be running quite right.

Yes there is a way to use the media folder with both OSX and Windows, however you have to have the drive formatted with windows NTFS and use something like Seagates NTFS for Mac program. If you buy a Seagate GoFlex Drive it comes ready formatted with the software on board to install on your mac, then anything saved on the drive will be readable from both OS.
I use a couple of these drives for just that purpose very successfully, unfortunately I haven't come across an alternative to buying the Seagate drive.

Example-CD : "Tracy Chapman , Telling stories" is not able to import . I have more such negative cases. But in other cases it works fine and the sound is great.
The firmware at the inbuild CD/DVD DS-6E2SH is the latest version.

I don't no about virtuel drives like you mententioned. In the mean time I have rebooted the XPS and run again the iTunes diagnostics. I think the back - chance in the registry was not ready to use. Now there are another results. They are the same in case of a running CD or a not running CD. The difference in total is like before. It takes more time that iTunes reads the (bad) CD and at the there is no good sound. In both cases ( running or not running CD) iTunes diagnostics gives as a result :

HP Print Software for MacBook Pro and Windows 7 gone awry on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

Almost one year ago today I wrote a post about my first problem with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911. Today I write my last.
I have an HP OJP 8600, with option Tray 2 included, and auto feed included. My system test computers are:
1. Apple MacBook Pro, OS X 9.5, HP software is the only 3rd party software.
2. HP Laptop, Windows 7.
The OJP wireless radio gave up, so I cannot run it wirelessly. It is connected by ethernet to my router. All five of my computers can use. All of the functions of the printer are usable. For example: it prints, it scans, it copies, it faxes. All functions working. My problem is with the HP software download to the Apple and to the HP Laptop.
I would like to be able to use all of the feature settings when I print. But alas, I cannot. Both the Apple and the HP Laptop have a similar appearing window that opens when you choose to print something. In theory, you are supposed to be able to control a range of paper types and quality, print type and quality, and (in my case with the two trays) what tray to use to select the paper.
I regret neither of the computers perform these functions. And all of the mistakes that I find on the Apple computer I find on the HP Laptop Windows 7 computer.
I don't have the time to test every combination. But I think the table below will help you get an idea of what the problem is with the software that HP sends offshore for maintenance.

In summary the new HP Print software for Apple and Windows 7 computers has identical programming mistakes on both operating systems. Under no circumstances can I use the MAX DPI setting.
The user cannot use the features that are built in to the HP software because the paper selections override the locked tray, the print quality, and the unusually small list of HP selection of papers.
It is time to invoke my warrenty rights. There are too many systemic problems with the software and the device. I don't have any more time to act as an unpaid system test analyst for HP.
Who do I contact to use my warrenty before it runs out in a few weeks?

Those are not programming mistakes, but those are limitations of the product, please check the printer specifications below:

As you may find under Paper-handling specifications > Paper tray capacities, Tray 2 only support Plain Paper.
Maximum DPI is only only supported on Photo Paper, therefore those limitations are applicable.. these limitations are also listed on the Printing Specifications section above, Maximum DPI is listed as 4800 by 1200 dpi:
Color print resolution: HP enhanced photo quality with Vivera inks (up to 4800 by 1200 dpi Optimized on HP Premium Plus photo papers with 1200 x 1200 input dpi)
As well that can be find listed within the Print photos on photo paper or the Print borderless documents sections, you may simply search for Maximum DPI within the user guide as a reference:

Those are not an issues with the printer but those expected limitations fully meet the product specification.

SG300-28P - POE not correctly supported on all ports - possible firmware or hardware issue

So, I spent some time this weekend troubleshooting the issues I've had with the new SG300-28P switch and POE to many of my devices in the office. As a recap, I cannot utilize all of the 24 POE ports on the switch for POE purposes. Really only every other port [with a few odd combinations thrown in between]. In addition, the SG300-28P switch, on occasion, is sending POE to non-POE devices [e.g. my Ruckus Zone Director 1106].
Here are my POE devices [all 802.3 af-compliant]:
3 Ruckus 7982 access points
1 Pakedge access point
2 home-automation controllers
2 Polycom voip phones
I called Cisco support several times in regards to this problem, and they figured it was a hardware issue - a faulty switch. So, Cisco sent me a replacement SG300-28P, which I hooked up today. The exact problem still occurs. Default configuration [fresh out of the box]. No way I can land, for example, the 3 Ruckus 7982 AP's on ports 1, 2, and 3 [or ports 1,13, and 2]. I have to put them on ports 1, 3, and 5 in order for them to power up. In addition, I can't plug any other POE devices on the ports either between or below them.   I had to skip another port bay. This is very odd behavior!!   Two Cisco SG300-28P's in a row with the same problem.
However, I also had one of the new Cisco SG300-10P switches in my possession for a recent project of ours. I decided to hook up the same POE devices to this switch. ALL POE devices were recognized and worked! No need to skip a port. And it didn't matter what device was plugged in first or not. I am now convinced that it is either a hardware issue [bad power supply/transformer?] inside all of the SG300-28P switches, or a firmware issue.
Both of the SG300-28P switches were running firmware 1.1.2 [the latest on Cisco's website]. So, I decided to install an older firmware version on the SG300-28P switch that I'm returning [installed 1.1.1.8].   Here's what I found out. I could then plug 2 POE devices [e.g. two Ruckus AP's] in adjacent horizontal ports, but not three in a row. In addition, not all adjacent ports. It's funky. For example, I could plug an access point in ports 20 and 21, but not in 21 and 22. No rhyme or reason in how it worked. And I still couldn't plug an access point in adjacent vertical ports [e.g. ports 1 and 13]. BUT...
It's interesting that the same exact switch that would not initially allow 2 horizontally-adjacent POE ports to be utilized WOULD allow 2 horizontally-adjacent POE ports to be utilized when running a different firmware version.   It's also interesting to note that when plugged into a "non-working" POE port, the SG300-28P would actually make a small whining noise. Very subtle noise; I could hear it when approx. 1ft away from the switch.   The noise was not noticeable when ports were skipped [and POE actually worked]. Therefore, I believe that Cisco has some SG300-28P firmware bugs [at least in the last two versions of firmware] that is not truly allowing all 24 ports to utilize POE correctly. This problem does not exist with the SG300-10P switch.
I'm really interested to hear what Cisco's reply and findings on this matter would be. And would welcome a reply from one of their senior support team members/managers who could actually experiment with this, too.   In addition, I'd like to know when they think a solution could be created if it's firmware-related. If hardware-related, I don't think I'll be recommending any 28P switches in our projects. Perhaps just the regular SG300-28 with a separate SG300-10P. It's a shame because the SG300-28P is more of a bargain when compared to the two separate components.
