Define default JVM plug-in

After an automatic update of JVM, the plug-in is now JAVA 1.6.
I would like to define JAVA 1.5 as default plug-in and I didn't find the option in the Java Control Panel.
I made searchs on Internet without find a right solution (MIME type are not the solution).
Does a solution exist to solve my problem?

I, too, have installed Java 6/1.6 because I teach Java and wish to learn about Java 6.
However, I, too, would like to use Java 5/1.5 as my browser plug-in, because I access a site (Blackboard at my college) that uses a Java applet that does not work under Java 6 (I am assured that they are working on it, but a fix may be some time in the future).
How do I set the Java VM to use in my browsers (IE 7 and Firefox) to Java 5, and keep Java 6 installed on my machine?

User Defined Default Starting Page

Hopefully an easy question...what table holds the user defined default starting page? Specifically in 11g.

Tried to set default dashboard for all the users.
1. Created a session init block
2. Used data source as select '/shared/SH Test/_portal/Test1' from dual
3. Assigned this value to PORTALPATH session variable
4. In Presentation services > Administration > My account > Default dashboard should be set to 'default'. Then only the dashboard specified in init block will be displayed otherwise My account will override the init block.
5. Save the changes made to rpd.
5. Logout and relogin to see if it is working fine. it is working perfectly fine.
For details please refer the GSC replication document. But it is for all the users.
if customer would like to have user/group based home page.
1. They may need to have 2 separate tables.
i. Group_path_tab with 2 columns. Group_id, portal_path
Have group wise portal path for all the groups
ii. User-group map table
Group_id, Group_name, user_id
User should be part of some group.
2. Then in the init block write the sql should be something like this
select A.portal_path from Group_path_tab A, User_group_map B
where B.user_id = :USER
and B.Group_id = A.Group_id
SO based on USER session variable, it will try to identify the group and then the portal_path.
Finally assign this value to PORTALPATH session variable.

Define Default Image Style option ignores Inline setting

I am writing my Vectorworks training manuals using Pages 09 which have a lot of images in them. I want all my images to be inline not floating.
I have followed the instructions in the Help to set my default image style.
I select an image, choose outline, shadows, and inline from the Inspector and then choose Define Default Image Style from the Format/Advanced menu.
All the settings EXCEPT the Inline are saved. And having to change from Floating to Inline each time is a real pain.
What am I doing wrong?

Floating Image is not an attribute of the default image style.
A way around this is to drag a folder of your images into the Media Browser.
Select the image you want in the media browser, copy and click into the text where you want the image and paste. You can also copy and paste from the desktop.
This demonstrates several elements of the poor UI design in OSX.
1. That the obvious (drag & drop) doesn't work as expected
2. Inserting the cursor where you want the image then going to the media browser, loses the focus in the document.
3. The focus does not stay consistent between selection and insertion points.
4. Dragging in text from the desktop behaves differently and does go into the insertion point.

btw How goes with VectorWorks? We really need a drawing program to fill in the gaps in iWork. Particularly useful would be one that can save Pages' Shapes and allow drag & drop/copy & paste Shapes into Pages documents.

Define Default Values for Value Categories-reg

What will be the effect in cost tab in MO,if I dont maintain the Define Default Values for Value Categoriesin SPRO.Because by just maintaining Value categories and its cost element assignment,Iam getting the planned and actual cost in cost tab of order.

Yes,u r right..without assigning default values also u can get the P/A cost in PM order.But,Suppose u have created 4 different value categories,ex-
Mech Spares
Elect Spares
Civil Spares
Maint Services
and u are assigning all these as default value categories,if ur maint order has only cost against mech spares it will show the cost incurred against that and cost against other value categories will be shown 0 in cost overview..
u can try it!!!

Updating default JVM for USA 2007 Daylight Saving Time (DST) Compliance

As mentioned on various notes on metalink on DST compliance, I got around to updating the JVM on my OracleAS 10.1.2 on Linux. As per note 397281.1,
"Apply the latest in the major series if the specific version above has been superseded by the vendor"
So, I downloaded the following version from Sun: java full version "1.6.0-b105" (JDK 6.0) and followed note 272808.1 on how to update the default JVM for 10gAS.
The middle-tier starts just fine but the OC4J_BI_Forms and Reports Server continually shutdown and restart.
Has anyone gone down this road? Any comments appreciated.

We have a bug to track assessing this issue, but have not done so yet. I'm speculating, but it may turn out to just require an automatic update from Windows.

Define Default Values for Doc type..

Hi All.
I set a default value of "ME21N" TO "S21" at Define Default Values for Document Type.
But, default document type is not "S21" but "NB" in ME21N
( system ver. 710)
Let me know how to correct it..

Changing default JVM in Jdeveloper 11

I know, I know, this is a very silly question.
How can I change the default JVM of Jdeveloper 11? I know how to use a different JVM at the project level, but I need to change the default JVM of the environment.

other way is to go to project properties by double clicking on project
Choose Compiler on the left pane.......
and Select the JDK version Compatibility for Source files and Generated class files from menu.

Can't "Define default table style"

I am trying to define how a new table gets inserted into my document. I can set the header text formatting, table body formatting, table text etc just fine, go to format>advanced> define default table style but I cannot seem to get the table borders the way I want.
I am trying to have ONLY horizontal table borders appear on a newly inserted table. It seems you only have a choice of ALL borders or NO borders in the table body... not any variation in-between.
Anybody seen this issue or know of a workaround?

Okay, did everything you suggested: Cleared caches, rebooted, checked disks, permissions, etc. (all was fine as I am very meticulous about keeping my Mac in a pridstine state... no junk, hacks, minimal 3rd party bits etc.)
This is what I did:
1 Launch pages
2 Choose blank template
3 Type a few letters of text
4 Save file
5 Insert table
6 Click outside table, then once on table so that it has the four square "handles"
7 Pages Graphic Inspector - change stroke to none
8 Click the horizontal lines button in table inspector
9 Graphic Inspector - change Stroke to the line
10 Click outside table, then once on table so that it has the four square "handles"
11 Format>advanced> define default table
12 Table lines re-appear
13 adding a new table shows all lines, not just horizontal
I tried with different templates (Blank, CV, etc)
I created a new user and tried it there
This occurs both on a 20 inch iMac and a 12' 867 Powerbook. It's strange that other people can apparently do it and I can't.

Getting Keynote's "Defining Default Attributes of Text Boxes" to work

The following is from the iWorks09 Keynote "Help" for the topic "Defining Default Attributes of Text Boxes and Shapes":
4. Do one of the following:
To make the text box the default for only the current master slide, choose Format > Advanced > “Define Text for Current Master.”
To make the text box the default for all master slides in the current theme, choose Format > Advanced > “Define Text for All Masters.”
I tried doing everything up to this point, but when I select "Format > Advanced" there is NO OPTION (not even unselectable "faded") for > “Define Text for All Masters.” There is only a an option for "Charts" & it is unselectable (there should be options for text, shapes, charts, etc.)
Can anyone help me?
If not, this is definitely a *+_major bug_+* that needs to be fixed!!

What do you mean when you say that the Lock commands don't work? Are they grayed-out, or is that once you use them you don't like the result? If the option is grayed-out, you either don't have an object selected, or the selected object is formatted as Inline. Changing the format to Floating will bring back the Lock option.

Define default for purchasing data in prod. order creation

Hi Experts,
Could You, pls help me to define default parameters for production order related purchasing data?
We have a special production, when no BOM used for component list, but components are identified one-by-one in production order. And out of this unique demand we create a PR.
When a component (with no material number) is defined in production order, purchasing value also need to be maintained (such as purchasing group, G/L account , material group). These data always need to be added manually, whoever they are rather standard - so I have tried to set default value as parameter, using parameter ID, but it did not work.
Do You happened to know, how to set default value for this feature?

OBYC is not used only for automatic account determination for goods movements (stock items).
For instance, it is used in shipment costing too:

G/L acocunt is determined in the shipment cost document, after that of course it will be used by system when posting the goods receipt (service item).
In production order, in the component overview, the G/L account is determined in the way as I discribed. When creating the PR system uses account assignment category "F", and for this G/L account can be determined by OBYC - this is what is happeneing, just a step before, in the production order and it will be copied to PR (I guess).
(I tried to modify the G/L account in OBYC and the change was reflected in PrdOrd for the component, so it is working fine)
As for the user exit: be careful when testing it by debugging. Program run several times reaches it, it is not enough to overwrite the values in the internal structures only once (I'm speaking here about G/L account --> the mentioned account determination overwrites it values a few times - I would set the G/L account not via the exit, but by OBYC)

I would like to know what are the default JVM arguments when server jvm is started without any additional flags, like this:
java -server myapp
I have been unable to find bullet proof document from those. I'm running Sun 1.5.0_08 on 32bit Win2003.
I would espacially be interested on thread stack size, useTLAB?, xmx & xms...

Defining default access

Hi i have just purchased a nokia N96. I have tried to play the bbc i player but when i select the programme i want to watch it says define default access point first. I have been onto web settings but that doesn't seem to help. Could anybody help me please?

Try this:
Menu > Applications > Media > Realplayer > Options > Settings > Streaming > Network
Set the default access point to match the access point you are using for the iplayer.
Note: If you are trying to use iPlayer over a 3G data connection then it may be blocked by your network. O2 & T-Mobile block the use of iPlayer over 3G, the 3 network allows it. Not sure about Orange or Voda.

Finding default JVM

Does anyone know how my web page can determine what the browser's default JVM is? As in, which JVM will be used if I deploy an applet with the APPLET tag? The navigator object in javascript shows me ALL the java virtual machines I have on my computer, but doesn't tell me which is the default

One alternative may be to write a simple applet which read system properties to determine the JVM in use. Then, it can load JVM dependent classes or using showDocument to redirect to the appropriate JVM specific page.
